Provide Timezone Support

Hi,
We have an application which we are wanting to introduce timezone support. The DB server resides and runs in GMT but now have clients who could be based anywhere in the world.
Has anybody any experience in converting a system from the old DATE to using the TIMESTAMP WITH LOCAL TIME ZONE?
Also have many forms, reports, Pro*C modules which would need looking at. What would be involved in this task?
We are running 9.2 with 9iAS and forms/reports 6.
Any help appreciated.
Many Thanks

get the info of the client time zone and compare it with the installed one.
you can store all this info in a oracle table and can perform your desired action.

  • CAF entity proxies provide Transactional support???

    Hi All,
We have created entity services, generated proxies so that we can use them in our webdynpro component's. Question here is, does the Generated Proxies of entity services provide Transaction support? or do we need to move all the business logic from webdynpro to CAF Application service?
    Appreciate your time

    Hi Aliksei,
Thank you for the reply back.
    Here is the situation:
We are generating proxy classes for CAF entity objects and using them in WebDynpro for all our custom CRUD operations.
Is this a good design or move all the CRUD operations to App Service and call it in the webdynpro. What is the exact difference in Updating the CAF Database from WebDynpro (Component controller) and from App Service.
In what scenario's you use App Service and WebDynpro Component controller with respect to Updating CAF Database.
    Thank you for your time.
    Thanks

  • ICS Provided timezone converting incorrectly in iCal

I'm attempting to use a CalDav data source and the source application timezone doesn't seem to be arriving in iCal correctly. For example, a timezone of "US/Eastern" in the source application appears as "Eastern Standard Time" in iCal. Syncing the same CalDAV calendar on my iPhone works correctly. Here is a sample of the ICS data that is coming across the network during a CalDAV sync.

When syncing this into iCal with timezone support enabled and the timezone set to Mountain Standard Time these events show up at 10am (two hour offset) and should be 10am in standard and 9am in daylight. When iCal is set to Pacific time the events show up at 9am in standard and 10am in daylight when they should both be showing 9am.
So, is this a problem with the ICS data that's coming across or iCal's interpretation of the timezone name? The fact that this same ICS data appears correctly on the iPhone and in Google's calendar leads me to believe that iCal is doing something incorrectly.

I have experienced the same problem Seems to be a mail issue rather than an ical issue as any import into ical other than double clicking in mail (or automatically importing) works fine.  I have totally reinstalled OS 10.8 ( and dealth with the resulting challenges of getting everything synced back up again) and the problem has resurfaced within 24 hours
Thanks for the drag and drop solution. I had been accepting on my iphone or ipad to avoid the issue.

  • Domain hosting provider that supports Dynamic Global Hostname?

Is there any domain hosting provider that supports dynamic DNS of the variety that supports "dynamic global hostname" used by Mac OS X, accessed in the Sharing control panel, and used by AirPort Express and Time Machine? I am referring to the Dynamic DNS method specified by IETF RFC 2136.

Any VPS provider will give you full control over your BIND installation.

  • Will Aperture 3.6 eventually provide raw support to Sony a5100

I have an iMac running OS X Maverick 10,9,5, and currently use Aperture 3.5.1 with all of its latest RAW updates.  I am considering updating to Yosemite to get Aperture 3.6.  I note that so far 3.6 does not provide RAW support to the Sony a5100.  Lightroom does have RAW support for this camera, and I can get Lightroom and keep Maverick.  However, I like Aperture and would like to continue using it.  But will the new version on Yosemite ever get RAW support for my camera?  I also see from other posts that many are having problems with both Yosemite and with Aperture 3.6.  I would need some reassurance before taking the step to a new OS X.  I need some advice about what to do.
    Thanks

But will the new version on Yosemite ever get RAW support for my camera?
We cannot tell you this, but any new Raw Support will most likely only be available on Yosemite.
The latest Digital Raw Compatibility Update was only for Yosemite, Aperture 3.6, and iPhoto 9., see:  http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1777?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
I need some advice about what to do.
Upgrade, but don't burn your bridges. I'd keep a full TimeMachine backup or a bootable clone of your system as it is now, so you can easily revert to the previous version.

  • ICal Timezone support - Birthday off by one day.

I always used iCal's timezone support. I had it on since day one I got my computer running. I have been using the birthday calendar function for all my address book contacts' birthdays as well.
I have just moved from Vancouver (GMT -7) to Japan (GMT +9), and now all my contact's birthday is off by one day. I tried turning off the iCal timezone support but not much happened.
    What can I do?

I've had this same issue 2 times now (I'm also on the same setup as you).
What has worked for me is the workaround listed here:
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20070313180838582
To simplify, copy the script shown in the last post into a text file called:
correctBirthdays (no file extension such as .txt is necessary)
and save it into your home directory. Once you've done that:
    1. Back up your Address Book with the 'File > Back up Address Book...' menu item
    2. Open the Terminal application
    3. In Terminal, type *chmod 755 correctBirthdays* to make the script executable.
    4. Type *./correctBirthdays -1* and hit enter. If you're coming back from Japan, you'll want to use 1 instead of -1 to move the birthdays forward instead of back a day.
    5. That's it. Terminal will report how many birthdays were corrected.
I'm guessing that this problem has been fixed in Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, and that's why musicale can't reproduce the issue.
    Hope this helps!
(and I take no responsibility if you mess something up! It should work though.)

  • Timezone support

    Hello,
I am from germany and visiting the states. As I arrived into the states my phone changed timezone as normal. But in the calender app all dates are changed times (-6hours), too and are incorrect now. I switched on the timezone support and all dates are shown correct now. But if timezone support is activated the appointments are correct but the current date is wrong. My calender app shows me the date of tomorrow what is correct if I would be in germany. But I am in Atlanta!
What do I have to do to make the app work properly?
    Thanks in advance

  • Does SSO2 provide SSO Support for SAP BOBI 4.x Applications?

I could not find any referrence in SAP BI BI 4.x documentation for SSO where this SSO2 would be mentioned!
    - Wobi

    Hi,
Does SSO2 provide SSO Support for SAP BOBI 4.x Applications?
BOBJ == SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform?
    SSO2 == SAP Single Sign-On?
If yes, BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform delivers historically its own basis SSO based on Kerberos (but only for applications running on BOBJ platform). I recommend to use it if it fits to your requirements. If not, you can configure "Trusted Authentication". In this case BOBJ trusts the authentication of the web applications server. Here you can use SAP Single Sign-On with SAML or certificates.

  • Does Apple provide "pay" support.

It's beginning to look like my issues require contacting someone proficient with iTunes on a PC whom I can speak to directly. The whole -support-service-by-responding- to-prompts falls apart at the very end - in everything I've tried you have to provide a serial number before you can go any further.  Since it's not an Apple platform, I can't provide one, so everything just becomes a do-loop.The community has been great. You've solved several problems for me in the past, and I am grateful.   I'm just not proficient enough to figure it out.  I've already read all the articles recommended here plus a few Apple recommended; none of them addressed the problem I have.
I think the problem is that I can't ask the questions properly.  None of the apple support pages have links to a place I can call,  I'm assuming that such a service exists. The basic question is whether or not to do a clean install.  I'm concerned with impact on my libraries of music/tv shows/movies which all reside on an external hard drive.  Is Apple even the place to contact for support; might someone here have a recommendation that, based on my description, might be a better option?
    tnx

probably giving more insights about the responders than the original questioner ...
i don't know if you've ever worked in a studio that has software which was sometimes bought even ten years ago. which has a box with software for installing mac os 6 on a performer, which has some max cds before a company named c'74 was even born.
keeping inventories is a story of its own. and when no legacy information is available as in the case of emagic (R.I.P.) it's even more difficult.

  • Zoom In Function gives an error for Provider Not supported

    Hello all,
I have an excel template which I connect to Essbase 11.1.2.3.(APS 11.1.2.3)  using SmartView 11.1.2.1.102.
When I try a zoom in over a member manually in this template it works and it retrieves me the children of the member.
when I try to do the same using a VBA Code (HypZoomIN()) I get an error for zoom in function.
    the error code is -41
This return value indicates that Provider is not supported..
what can be the reason for this failure, also when I execute the code and stop the execution just before the HypZoomIn() in code and if I try a manual Zoom In with the same template even then the function fails to execute.
so what can be the reason for this failure?

I think the first time you have to click on "Adhoc Analysis" as that way it will convert the old / higher version to your current version of Smart View and once it retrieves successfully, then you can try the Zoom In and see
I am just guessing as it always asks me when the template was used in a different version and I try to use in a different version smart view

  • When will aperture provide RAW support for Olympus EM-5

I have the new Olympus OM-D EM-5 and I cannot get Aperture to read the RAW files....when will a software upgrade be availble?

If the camera is not listed here Mac OS X v10.6: Supported digital camera RAW formats
then Aperture does not support it as this time.
When it will be supported no one here can say, we're all just users here like you. Apple never releases this information before hand.
You can let them know you want the camera supported by going to Aperture->Provide Aperture Feedback.

  • What is Apple's policy on providing phone support for Leopard

I've used every Apple operating system since day one (of Apple) and have never had as many issues, especially wireless connection issues, as I have had with Leopard. I would like to call Apple and talk to their phone support folks but I would find it very frustrating to have to pay money for phone support when I've already shelled out $129 for an operating system that is clearly problematic. What is Apple's policy on providing operating system phone support??? thanks... bob...

  • Looking for an api to provide timing support for a music app

Hey folks, new member says Hi !
I was wondering if this would fit better here or in the multimedia section, but here goes :
I've been thinking about some music sequencing ideas that I'd like to implement in ruby.
However, the language has poor runtime performance and won't cut it if it has to handle the timing-critical processing.
So I was wondering if I could possibly design it in a way that would rely on a lower level api to provide clock info.
I've read a bit about jack, and at first glance, it seems reasonable to think that I could develop my application model in ruby and have it register as a jack client (provided I manage to make a  proper bridge for it), to fire up events in a timely manner. Same with alsa, which seems to have a special timer api.
But I'm new to this (even linux itself), so it's a lot of info to get one's head around.
I'd love to hear from some people who've had experience developing with these sort of musical/osc/midi apis, and maybe could give some insights regarding whether this is doable, and maybe some pointers on what to investigate.
    cheers !

I'm not sure I completely follow you with the "privilege".
To answer your question, yes, you may enhance behaviour of standard services such as CHECKIN_UNIVERSAL via so called "filters". Filters are Java pieces of code, that might be hooked to "filter events" such as validateCheckinData. When a service is being processed, the filter code is triggered on that event automatically.
However, the checkin services already contain a security check (it calls a Java method from the standard code), and it will do checks like "can this user check in a document with such a security group?" or "does this folder exist?", no extra code needed. So, I'm not sure what your enhancement would do additional.
