Proxy for only Safari

Is there any way that I can set up an HTTP(S) proxy only for Safari? I know I can set up system-wide proxying in the Network System Preference Pane, but I would like to only use proxies in Safari. Is this possible? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply.
Well, I use Privoxy, a locally running proxy that can do all kinds of ad-blocking, javascript cleansing, and a whole slew of other things. I also use Little Snitch, a program that monitors attempts at outgoing network connections (to see if programs are trying to phone home, etc.). I set up Privoxy as my HTTP and and HTTPS proxy. I also tell Little Snitch to permanently enable connections from Privoxy on ports 80 and 443 to any hosts. Now, if some random program attempts to phone home using HTTP(S) on port 80, this will go through without warning since it will go through Privoxy. If I were able to only enable the proxy for Safari, the random program would not go through Privoxy, and Little Snitch would warn me.
Hopefully, that made sense. I realize that this sounds a bit paranoid, but hey, I never claimed to be altogether normal .
I am using Firefox with its own proxy configuration as we speak, and the latest builds of Camino also allow overriding of system proxy preferences. I was mostly just curious if this was possible with Safari.

• How to set up proxy for only some of all my accounts?

I have two accounts A and B set up in my thunderbird. Now I'm going to connect to server A through a proxy while directly connecting to server B by just clicking the get new messages button. Is there a way to do that?

You can set up an iTunes account for each of your kids without providing a credit card. Instead use gift cards or set up an allowance. For detailed info see: iTunes Gift Options
Also make sure to check the Parental Control preferences in iTunes (iTunes: Using Parental Controls) and on each iPod (iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch: Understanding Restrictions).

I have IMac OSX 10.9.4, 4GB,Processor 3.06 with Intell2Duo. I would like to check for Malware. I run a TechTool Pro 6 every month and that comes up great.
When check how much memory I am using, with only Safari open I am using 3.9 and more of her 4.0 memory. She is very. very slow in processing. I had 4000
trash to clean out and it took her over an hour to expel. Also for some reason Safari will not allow me to click on a link, in my G-mail, and let it go to the page.
It has a sign saying a pop-up blocker is on and will not let me do it. I must open the stamp to look at my e-mails and if I have redirected link now I can do it.
I have not changed my preferences so where is this pop-up blocker?
I have looked at preferences on Safari and Google, which I do not understand Google, and do not see where this blocker could be.
Malware is something I want to make sure is not on my computer. Tech Tool Pro 6 is all I know of and it does not detect Malware.
Help.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the ''Safe mode'' start window.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (on Mac: "Firefox > Quit")

• University network only SAFARI and App Store is working other apps are not

In the University network..university of Adelaide australia..network(eduroam)
after i setup the proxy in the Wifi connections..only safari and App store is working..MAIL,MAPS,WEATHER, Youtube or any other internet access apps such as instant messengers are not working...
there is nothin wrong with the device because @ free wifi hotspots evrything works fine..
PLEASE TELL A SOLUTION FOR THIS

If I understand you correctly, the iPod Touch is working fine at wi-fi spots except for your university. If some apps work there, but others do not, I would suspect that some ports are being blocked. I know that at my local mall, I can access the web via browser, but they have blocked the email ports, so I can't use the mail client.
I find it hard, though, to believe that the university would block the email port(s), but I would suggest that you talk to the IT department there to see if that is the case.

• Proxy exceptions on safari / iPhone config utility

Is it possible to setup an 'exception to proxy' in either Safari or via the iPhone configuration Utility?
I can have either everything proxied or nothing proxied using the wi-fi networks setting for my connection, unfortunately as this is a corporate connection, I have to keep switching the http proxy setting from manual to off.

*Update*
After doing some digging it turns out that proxy exceptions are only one way of doing this.
I found a useful doc that explains how to utilise PAC (proxy auto-config) file.
http://www.craigjconsulting.com/proxypac.html
Basically you can set your "HTTP Proxy" setting within your wireless config to automatic and point the device to a PAC file.
The PAC file I'm using is modelled on this:-
function FindProxyForURL(url, host)
// variable strings to return
var proxy_yes = "PROXY 192.168.1.1:8080";
var proxy_no = "DIRECT";
if (shExpMatch(url, "http://www.mycompanywebsite.com*")) { return proxy_no; }
if (shExpMatch(url, "http://www.myotherwebsite.com*")) { return proxy_no; }
if (shExpMatch(url, "http://www.my3rdlocalsite.com*")) { return proxy_no; }
// Proxy anything else
return proxy_yes;
Job done!

• Creation of client proxy for a WSDL with 2 port types??

Hi,
I am trying to consume an external web service from SAP - ECC6.0. The WSDL file has 2 porttype definitions - one for i/p and one for o/p
When I proceed with SE80 to create a client proxy, it asks me to select any one port type to generate the client proxy. If I select only the input port, it generates proxy for the input port alone.
In this scenario, how do I create proxies and configure logical ports, and call it from a single program to invoke the whole web servie with both i/p and o/p?
TIA,
Regards

Hi,
i. Import your message schemas from external definitions, or RFCs or IDocs from SAP systems. These definitions already contain data types.
ii. Create a message interface and reference the messages of the external definition, or the RFC or IDoc message.

• Only Safari won't show home page image

Helo
Having problems with home page image showing in only Safari (
www.truthandlife.info ). May be a css problem, but I don't know...
Originally, we had to alter the drop down menu becasue it
wouldn't work on Safari, so a friend fixed that but that fix took
away the main image - he writes:
"I found some other information that suggested setting the
ClientTarget attribute to “uplevel” when you detect the
Safari or Opera browsers.
I went ahead and implemented that by creating a base class
called BasePage (in the App_Code folder) and made every page load
derive from it using the “Inherits” parameter. This
seemed to solve the problem on Safari (I don’t have Opera)
without affecting IE7. Note that all new pages you create need to
have the Inherits=”BasePage” tag set in their
<Page> element.
So all is good in that the submenus pop up as we would
expect…but there is a problem with the graphic on the default
page. The main image doesn’t load on the Safari browser
unless I remove that ClientTarget=”uplevel” statement.
If I remove it, then the menus don’t work."

So does anyone know what might be the problem and/or fix?
Thanks

Still trying of course - so
I redid that alternate masthead for ie5.5 and updated the
link - yes, now the ALTERNATE banner shows but NOT the image I
need, which DOES still show in other browsers. Only in Safari does
the alternate masthead now show, but not the main masthead needed.
Below is the code that directs the alternate image for ie 5.5
but why would this affect Safari?
=============
using System;
using System.Data;
using System.Configuration;
using System.Collections;
using System.Web;
using System.Web.Security;
using System.Web.UI;
using System.Web.UI.WebControls;
using System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts;
using System.Web.UI.HtmlControls;
public partial class DefaultPage : BasePage
protected void Page_LoadComplete(object sender, EventArgs e)
if (!IsCallback)
// IE 5.5 isn't able to render the dynamic menu items
correctly if
// the size of the header image is too large. To work around
this problem,
// IE 5.5 gets a different header image than the other
browsers.
if (Request.Browser.Id == "ie55")
mastheadImg.ImageUrl =
String.Format("~/Images/homepage/masthead9.jpg", Page.Theme != null
? Page.Theme : Page.StyleSheetTheme);
mastheadImg.Height = 206;
litHeaderHeight.Text = "206px";
===============
Coupled with the BASE page code in my previous post, maybe
there's a fix in one of these?
Any thoughts?

This is what the site says when I try to view it even though I am in England >>
Licencing restrictions require that Kiss Kube is only available to UK based listeners. Kiss uses a system to determine your geographic location via your IP address to make the decision.
Multi-national corporations and internet service providers sometimes have their network configured in such a way that it makes it appear to the Kiss Kube that you are trying to listen from another country.
If you are in the UK, please ask your IT department if you're able to use a UK based proxy for internet access.

• Creating a Web Service Proxy for a transaction with Microsoft Visual Studio

Hi experts out there,
I have created a simple transaction which I'd like to call as a webservice. Getting the WSDL from an authenticated browser (from which I started the xMII Workbench) works fine. But when I try to create a Web Reference within my Visual Studio project I only get the following output:
"XacuteWS" Description
Methods
Xacute ( LoginName As string , LoginPassword As string , InputParams As InputParams ) As Rowset
I think this is because my visual studio is not authenticated with the xMII server. So is there any way to achieve this? I have to find a way to generate a .NET proxy for out xMII web services because otherwise it would be too complicated to use the web services from within our .NET applications.
Thanks in advance for any hint on this topic!
Achim

Two comments:
1) The generated proxy looks correct. If you explore the generated code for the InputParams object and the Rowset object, they should represent the incoming and outgoing data structures for your transaction. If not, and if you are returning an XML property type from the transaction, be sure that you have used the "Assign Reference Document" technique to tell MII what the structure of your outgoing document is (there are a few other discussion threads on that topic).
2) Personally, I find it much easier to consume MII services from .NET code using a URL-based technique instead of a SOAP based technique. Invoke the "Runner" servlet (see the documentation) and you'll get an XML document back, that will always be in the MII Rowsets/Rowset/Row format. Also, it is "self describing" because it includes Column metadata information. It is very trivial to load this into a .NET XmlDocument object and parse/process it. In fact, doing a similar approach, I've been able to make MII services appear as ADO.NET tables/stored procedures to .NET code.

• Use BizTalk 2006 as a proxy for an external Web Service

Hi
We have a solution that is going to work just as a proxy for an external Web Service.
It works like this:
1. We have a Request-Response receive port that receives the calls for the WS.
2. Different Static Solicit-Response ports that have filters for each method in the WS receive the requests and then send them to the external WS.
3. The response from the external WS is then sendt back to the caller via the Request-Response port in point 1.
This generally works like it should. The only problem i have is when the external WS returns a Fault message. I get this fault from the external WS:
<s:Fault xmlns:s="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"><faultcode>s:Client</faultcode><faultstring xml:lang="nb-NO">Some error message the caller should see.</faultstring><detail><GenericFault
xmlns="http://register.test.com/Common" xmlns:i="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"><ErrorCode>SomthingWentWrong</ErrorCode><Message>Some error message the caller should see.</Message></GenericFault></detail></s:Fault>
This message then failes on BizTalk and BizTalk returns this Fault message to the caller:
<SOAP:Envelope xmlns:SOAP="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" SOAP:encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/"><SOAP:Body><SOAP:Fault><faultcode>Microsoft BizTalk Server Negative Acknowledgment
</faultcode><faultstring>An error occurred while processing the message, refer to the details section for more information </faultstring><faultactor>/Hemit.BizTalk.NHN.Position.ws/IPositionService.asmx</faultactor><detail><ns0:NACK
Type="NACK" xmlns:ns0="http://schema.microsoft.com/BizTalk/2003/NACKMessage.xsd"><NAckID>{7AC314FE-2CA3-44AE-8208-180495500481}</NAckID><ErrorCode>0xc0c016b7</ErrorCode><ErrorCategory>0</ErrorCategory><ErrorDescription>There
is an error in XML document (1, 2).</ErrorDescription><ErrorDetail><Fault xmlns='http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/'> was not expected.</ErrorDetail></ns0:NACK></detail></SOAP:Fault></SOAP:Body></SOAP:Envelope>
So the problem seems to be that the Request-Response port in point one will ONLY accept the real response that is specified in the response schema for that particular method, and not a Fault. And when it receives a fault, it generates its own Fault saying
a Fault message was not expected.
Does anyone know how i can be able to send the actual fault from the external WS all the way back to the caller on the inside?
I know how to do it with an orchestration, but can not figure out how to get it done just with the ports.
Kind regars
John Viggo

Hi John,
Enable Propagate fault message
on the WCF solict –response port.
For the two-way send port, you can choose whether to forward
SOAP fault messages on to the original caller over a solicit-response send port by selecting
Propagate fault message. If this option is not selected, BizTalk Server will generate a NACK. What you see is the NACK.
If it is selected, BizTalk Server will treat the message as a valid WCF response message from the external service and the response message will not be suspended because it is propagated.
Then you need to map the fault message to the actual response in the map. Set this Fault-Message to Caller-Response map in the outbound map of the Requeust-Response port.
In this case of messaging-only scenario, this method shall help in handling the fault message and passing fault details back to the caller. Refer the following articles for more details.

• Are Wildcards possible for host name in "no proxy for" setting?

Our LAN requires a proxy for internet access. I need to bypass proxy for certain host names, as the proxy blocks many ports.
Things work if I enter the entire host name. But there are many, so I wish to use wildcards in the host name.
That does not seem to work.

There is no solution for host names and wild cards as far as I know. That is why I showed how to do this with the IP.
Does it work if you only specify the top level domain if you want to include other domains with the same postfix?

• Apache as Reverse Proxy for UWC and Webmail

Hi,
for several reasons i want to use apache 2 as reverse proxy and ssl accelerator for UWC.
internet <-> apache/ssl <-> backend port 80
I configured my apache with mod_proxy and mod_proxy_html.
Here are the concerning config lines:
LoadModule headers_module modules/mod_headers.so
LoadModule proxy_module modules/mod_proxy.so
LoadModule proxy_connect_module modules/mod_proxy_connect.so
LoadModule proxy_ftp_module modules/mod_proxy_ftp.so
LoadModule proxy_http_module modules/mod_proxy_http.so
LoadFile    /usr/lib/libxml2.so
LoadModule  proxy_html_module    modules/mod_proxy_html.so
ProxyPass / http://backend.domain.com/
ProxyPassReverse / http://backend.domain.com/
<Location />
ProxyPassReverse /
SetOutputFilter proxy-html
ProxyHTMLURLMap / /
ProxyHTMLURLMap http://backend.domain.com:80/ http://webplex.domain.com/
ProxyHTMLExtended On
RequestHeader unset Accept-Encoding
</Location>For Webmail this configuration works most of the time. There are some minor problems in ie with the folder view. But the real problem is: I can't get UWC to work. The problem seems to be that mod_proxy_html can't replace all of the occurences of backend.domain.com in the html pages.
Especially:
onsubmit="handleSubmit()" action="http://webplex.domain.com/amserver/UI/Login?goto=http://backend.domain.com:80/uwc/&gotoOnFail=http://backend.domain.com:80/uwc/?err=1&module=LDAP" method="POST">in the uwc login page.
So my question is:
Is anybody out there who got apache working as reverse proxy for uwc?
Thanks a lot.
PS1:Solaris 10 on V20z, JES2005Q4
PS2: I already configured UWC with the reverse plugin for sun webserver on backend host so that uwc is working through port 80 only. So there should be no problems arise from that.

Hopefully, you'll hear from somebody. I have zero knowledge or experience with Apache.
