Proxy Login
Urgent help needed.
I am very confused with how my applets perform on my intranet. When the applets are loaded on a machine within the domain the server is held, there is no problem as to what the applets can do, but when they are loaded outside the domain, and have to go through a proxy server, access is denied. Another strange thing that happens, is that when a specific applet is loaded, the user is prompted for their username and password for the proxy, but this doesnt happen with any of the others. Also, if the user cancels the login, the applet is restricted, and the user is never asked to login in again. Any help would be greatfully appreciated, as I dont know whether this is a problem with the JSP or the Applet. I also need to try and fix this problem asap, because the current fix just doesnt make sense, i.e. to make the user login to the applet that prompts for the proxy login, and then use the other applets,
Thanks in advance,
Osian
Plugin has nothing to do with servlet or JSP. In IE, applets using AWT will not need a plugin. The jre that comes with Netscape 6.x and Mozilla also gives the same problem. As a result, I have not been able to see applets from linux.
Can someone help?

Proxy Login Request on Java applets
• 10.4.5 Client
• Windows 2.3k ISA 2005 Proxy Server
• Users' fileserving to Win2.3k - ADmitMac for AD integration
The client is a test machine on which I build campus master NetInstall images. In my testing procedures I've come across a bizarre problem with Java in the browsers (IE, Safari, & FireFox).
We use ISA proxy server with web filtering, and users must authenticate to the proxy. On a new user's first use of any browser, the proxy username & password are requested, and the Add to Keychain checkbox is available. If the user checks the box, no further proxy login requests are made; the user's Keychain is updated with the proxy information.
On pages with Java applets, however, each and every applet will ask for a proxy login, but the login window does not offer a Add to Keychain checkbox! If a page has 15 applets on it, the user will be asked 15 times to authenticate against the proxy.
Naturally, this is a BIG problem, especially when several of the sites our teachers use in classes and labs contain many Java applets.
On the web, there is almost nothing concerning setting up Java with proxy servers, as all Apple Java from v. 1.4.2 onwards picks up proxy information from the system's network settings.
On the Apple Developer site, Tech Note QA1263 demonstrates a way of setting HTTPS proxy settings by entering text strings in the 1.3.1 and 1.4.1 Plugin Settings apps Java Runtime Parameters. The same capability exists in the J2SE 5.0 Java Preferences app, too. Unfortunately, the Java applets do not use HTTPS, so far as I can tell, so this remedy is useless.
Any clues I can pursue? Any help or fixes?
Thanks in advance!

This is the output of the console log. From what I can glean, the plug-in sees the proxy server settings as it should, and reports them.
In addition, the J2SE 5.0 Java Preferences app allows you to turn off all security settings. No change in behavior.

Ipad Mini doesn't load authentication proxy login
Hi Guys,
Im new using ipad mini. I am working in a private firm and the internet use system here is to login in the authentication proxy login page.
I already have my proxy login account and I can login successfuly from my laptop. But when I try to use my Ipad Mini to access the net, Safari loads, and I can see the login page is loading but is like skipping the page and finally says "Safari cannot open the page becasue the network connection was lost".
Thank you in advance.Do you happen to have Private Browsing Mode enabled in Safari on the iPad mini? If so, you might try turning that off, then try to log in to the proxy again.
Other things to try:
What is Settings > Safari > Block Cookies set to? It defaults to "From third-parties and advertisers", but try setting it to "Never" to see if that makes a difference when logging in. (Do not leave it set at "Always" or that will make most web sites stop working that require cookies to function.)
Does the authentication proxy use a pop-up window on your laptop's web browser? If so, and if Settings > Safari > Block Pop-ups is ON, then you may need to turn that setting OFF to allow Safari to log in to the proxy.
If you enable Private Browsing Mode on Safari on your laptop (I'm assuming you have a Mac), can you still log in successfully to the proxy?
Does Google Chrome on the iPad mini let you log in to the proxy successfully? (Chrome uses a different network stack on iOS.) -
Proxy login from externally authenticated user
Hi Experts,
I created an externally authenticated user in database. And can login without password with below syntax.
SQL> connect / @TESTDB
Connected.
SQL> show user;
USER is "SCOTT"
This scott user has a proxy permission to another DBuser PROXY_USER.
I got the syntax but that works only from Database OS.
sqlplus [proxy_user]/
SQL*Plus: Release 11.1.0.6.0 Production on Mon Nov 15 16:28:47 2010
Copyright (c) 1982, 2010, Oracle. All rights reserved.
Connected to:
Oracle Database 11g Release 11.1.0.6.0 - 64bit Production
I can connect as externally authenticated user from windows CLIENT running on Release 10.2.0.1.0
SQL> connect / @TESTDB
Connected.
But the above mentioned Proxy connectivity syntax fails with below from CLIENT
SQL> connect [proxy_user]/ @TESTDB
SP2-0306: Invalid option.
Usage: CONN[ECT] [logon] [AS {SYSDBA|SYSOPER}]
where <logon> ::= <username>[<password>][@<connect_identifier>] | /
But the same syntax works from Database OS!
I can login from TOAD but can't login from SQLDEVELOPER or SQLPLUS
My sqldeveloper version is:
Version 2.1.1.64
Build MAIN-64.45
and sqlplus is:
SQL*Plus: Release 10.2.0.1.0
Any idea?
Thanks.
Edited by: Nadvi on Nov 18, 2010 3:09 PMHi Nadvi
If you get SQLPLUS working SQLDeveloper (thick jdbc/oci/instant client) is certainly worth trying.
I am not sure what is the issue with your setup the proxy usecases I am familiar with are:
Through the SQLDeveloper ui
There are two ways of doing proxy logins:
where p1 is proxy user and c1 is proxy client:
1/single session method (if no 2nd password or distinguished name required)
on main connection popup
user: p1[c1]
password: p1
2/Two session method
Main Connection popup
user: p1
password p1
popup connection authentication
proxy client: c1
none or password or distinguished name

Resetting saved proxy login information
The network at my school requires you to login through their proxy. It worked fine until I had to change my password and now it still remembers the old password and has a prompt pop up every time I try to open a new webpage. I use auto proxy discovery but if I switch to web proxy, I put in the user and new password then apply, but it fails to connect and When I reopen preferances the old password has been put into the window with the new one. How can I remove/update the saved password?
I have a problem that could be related;
I am using my mac book air on my comapny's network ( through Ethernet)
I have, as instructed by the IT guy, keyed into the network settings pane ( system pref -> network -> advanced -> proxy) my user name / password, but this will NEVER be remebered
- if I revisit the same preference pane 5 mins later, the fields are empyty ( though I had cleiked "apply")
- and differents programs ( mail, ..) constantly ask for the proxy login/password
Where should I see this password stored in key chain ? I do not see any item named "proxy" or so ?

Hi all, I'm trying to configure MEM with JES 2005Q4. I had configured the backend to handle virtual domains, I can create domains and users form the Delegate UI. Also, in the frontend the UWC is configured and I can logon and access the default domain throughout this interface. But when I try to access a virtual domain, I can NOT login, an error message appear in the messaging http log file in both front and backend. As I see in the AM logs files, the session is created but is not able to access the UWC UI. Below, are more details about this config.
I saw a couple of message related this issue but they dont help.

How to view my saved proxy login & password information?
So let's say I forgot them and I need to see them, where does Firefox store them? I checked cookies.sqlite file and tried to find by proxy's ip/name keywords but nothing was retrieved as a result.
So is there a way I can look up the proxy's login and password?See:
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/Password_Manager
Passwords are encrypted and stored in the signons.sqlite database file.
You can only see those passwords in real text in the Firefox password manager.

Hi
I am using Oracle 10g and have created proxy users in DB using following code.
create user app_user identified by app_user;
grant create session to app_user;
create user end_user identified by end_user;
grant create session, create table to end_user;
alter user end_user grant connect through app_user;
Now while connecting to DB using below code :
connect app_user[end_user]/app_user
error is coming which is :
ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
Any suggestion why this error is coming.

I have an issue with webaccess. When logging into the client, I can browse the email without any issues. If I want to proxy to another account, I click on the account and can open their email - however, closing the window does not take me back to my account, it remains in the proxy account. I essentially have to log out and then log back in to get back into my account.
It says in the help files that I should only have to close the proxy window. This was working in version 7.0.1 but now that we are on version 7.0.4 it doesn't.
Can you please help in this matter?Originally Posted by kelloggfan

Has anyone written a Custom Connection Manager for the xsql servlet? It seems useful to support proxy/lightweight sessions with xsql servlet. Has anyone tried this?
It won't work because iPlanet 4.1 has a broken implementation of the Servlet API's getRealPath() method, the method that XSQL Servlet uses to resolve virtual paths into absolute paths.
I just debugged a complaint that it didn't work with iPlanet this week and this was the result I found.
Their path resolution works for their own JSP implementation, but not for any other servlet. -
Firefox 6 search asks for proxy login for EVERY SINGLE KEYSTROKE! argh
Start FF6 behind a proxy that requires authentication. Start typing into the search box... FF pops up the proxy user/password box after about three chars - the rest of your search trashes the remembered details in the dialogue. Backspace all that out, hit escape (or enter your password)... back in the search box re-enter the chars that were lost from the search... three chars later the same happens. Basically, the proxy-authenticate dialogues don't interact well at all with the keystroke search box.
Let me show you. Did the attachment, edited for my privacy, show you what happens when I try to open a new URL?
-
When I am trying to change the url it is coming following error .
An exception has occurred : oracle.portal.wcs.transport.http.HttpTransportException WCS-519 -- HTTP Proxy Authentication failed for int.domain.co.in:8080 with authentication of type "Basic" at realm "realm1". Update your proxy login information in the Edit Defaults / Personalize page to
authenticate.
Can anybody please help me regarding this issue it is very urgent.so pleaseI have a similar setup on Linux boxes (MT and Infra) and having the same problem. I can add external application, also able to register Web clipping provider successfully using the external application ID.
But when I try to clip the external application. It shows me on the page "User authentication failed. Please use the following link to update the information."
And, The application.log shows in addition to WCS-514 error code 404
Raising SOAP fault code: AuthenticationFailure
I get provider Test page without any error. http://xyz.abc.com:7778/portalTools/webClipping/providers/webClipping
Your help is highly appreciated.

Does anyone know how to REMOVE proxy requirement to sign in to CC?
I've seen quite a few posts while searching on this topic on how to set up a proxy, but I need the opposite. I made the mistake of using Creative Cloud once with my VPN software running (I only need to use VPN to update one specific program I use for work). Now, any time I need to sign in to CC, either the updater or to authorize a program (Acrobat XI asks me almost every time I use it), it asks for my proxy username and password (that I use with my VPN), not my regular Adobe ID like it used to. It's a giant pain to have to fire up my VPN software just to login to get my programs to work. I'm using this on my personal laptop, and I don't need to use a proxy to get on the internet. Does anyone know how to remove the proxy login requirement and set it back to just using my Adobe ID?
Jgabren there should be no requirement to be on a specific network. I am very concerned by the following statement in your first post, "I only need to use VPN to update one specific program I use for work." Was this an Adobe application? Why do you have the requirement to log into your VPN to update this application?
It does sounds like your computer is managed by an I.T. organization. I would recommend contacting your I.T. department to ensure this is not a requirement that they have put in place. -
Authenticating to Socks proxy using different accounts in a given JVM
I have a J2EE application that runs some background jobs. Each of these background jobs need to connect to an external FTP server. However, all connections must go through a central SOCKS proxy server. The SOCKS proxy server is set up to require authentication using user names and passwords. Everything works fine if I've to use this SOCKS proxy with "a set" of credentials across all background jobs. However, if I want Job1 to use "user1" for SOCKS login, and Job2 to use "user2" for SOCKS login, I can't seem to find a way to do this. I need this functionality for accounting purposes. Any help on how this can be accomplished is greatly appreciated.

Looking at the test class, it creates 3 threads T1, T2 and T3. T1 is setup to connect to 192.168.1.53 using a proxy user User-001 and T2 is setup to connect to 192.168.1.54 using proxy user User-002 and T3 connects to 192.168.1.55 using proxy user User-003.
Each thread then loops 5 times to connect to their target servers and disconnect each time. All the debug (System.out) statements indicate that the getPasswordAuthentication is returning the correct credentials for each thread. However, when I look at the logs on the proxy server, the results are different and arbitrary.
Below is the proxy log:
