Proxy redirection

I'm trying to get a Cisco IPS to download updates using a Bordermanager box
and according to Cisco tech support the IPS is unable to download the
updates because Proxy Redirection is not working on the Bordermanager
server.
I checked the BM server but I couldn't figure out how to configure proxy
redirection. Can you tell me how to enable proxy redirection?
The IPS from what I can tell is a linux box.

  • Proxy redirections on bind

    Hi there,
    I have clients look up via the 5.2p4 proxy pair. Currently I have a single group which directs an app user to a single ldap master pair. I now have more DITs on new masters and I want the proxy to redirect client searches based upon the BIND, I know proxy can do this.
    Ive struggled to get on a proxy course as they very rarely run, can anybody point me in the direction for configuring this please?
    Also, has anybody ever used a proxy setup (currently we have a load balanced pair of high spec X4200's) to handle connections in the region of 15K per second?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    thanks

    Hi
    Arp is used to obtain a mac address from an IP address. For a machine to send a packet to another machine on the same network it needs to obtain the mac-address of that machine.
    Now lets say you have this statement on your pix
    static (inside,outside) 206.156.17.1 192.168.1.2 netmask 255.255.255.255
    which says present the internal address of 192.168.1.2 as a public ip address 206.156.17.1 to users on the outside of the pix.
    Proxy arp allows the pix to respond to arp requests for hosts behind it. So when an arp request is made for 206.156.17.1 the pix will respond with it's own mac-address, receive the IP packets and forward them on to the internal host 192.168.1.2.
    Without proxy arp outside hosts would not be able to reach the 192.168.1.2 server.

  • Proxy redirect problem

    I'm having a redirect problem going through a weblogic proxy. An app I was using appears to be redirecting the browser always to localhost:7121 which won't work with access via the my domain.
    To explain fully I set up a test JSP page which outputs request.getRequestURL().toString() so I could trace what was happening. The weblogic configuration is explained below:
    I'm using Weblogic 8.1 sp5. I've setup a 4 instances: a proxy (port 7120), redirector (port 7121) and cluster (two instances running on 7131, 7132)
    If I navigate to:
    http://localhost:7120/myapp/test.jsp my test page outputs: request.getRequestURL().toString() : http://localhost:7121/myapp/test.jsp
    and again to:
    http://localhost:7131/myapp/test.jsp my test page outputs: request.getRequestURL().toString() : http://localhost:7121/myapp/test.jsp
    or
    http://localhost:7132/myapp/test.jsp my test page outputs: request.getRequestURL().toString() : http://localhost:7121/myapp/test.jsp
    The output is always the same ... it always says the requestURL is from localhost:7121 the redirector?
    Can anyone help explain why I always get the same output? It is completely baffling me.
    Thanks,
    Matt

    The problem was caused by incorrect configuration of FrontEndHttpPort and FrontEndListener and FrontEndHost in the cluster configuration. These values were incorrectly during config wizard install.

  • Reverse Proxy Redirection Problem

    Hi all
    recently I installed sun one app server 8.1 sp2 as back end server and sun one web server 6.1 sp5 as the front end.
    I also installed the reverse proxy plugin (provided by sun) correctly. the infrastructure is something like this:
    web = http://aaa.com/mypath
    app = http://bbb.com/mypath
    client => web => app server
    so when client type http://aaa.com/mypath, it will eventually executed http://bbb.com/mypath, but in the client browser still maintain http://aaa.com/mypath
    so far so good.
    but when the client executed http://aaa.com/mypath/myredirect.html (where myredirect.html is javascript redirection to certain html in my app server), the web server will execute http://bbb.com/mypath/myredirect.html, which eventually the html will be redirected to http://bbb.com/mypath/myfinalresult.html.
    the problem is now on the client browser the url becomes http://bbb.com/mypath/myfinalresult.html. all i want is the url to be pointing to web server, that is http://aaa.com/mypath/myfinalresult.html
    how to solve this problem? is it possible to do reverse mapping with passthrough library? any help is greatly appreciated! Thx !!
    Cheers,
    kami

    Hi All,
    Good Morning. Please calrify the below issue about reverse proxy. ( The redirection is not happening from WebServer to AppServer)
    - I have installed the one WebServer with below configuration.
    - Installed Sun ONE Web Server 6.1SP6 with Sun ONE Web Server 6.1SP3 Reverse Proxy Plugin.
    - This is my obj.conf file:
    NameTrans fn="assign-name" from="/wps" name="passthrough1"
    <Object name="passthrough1">
    Service type="magnus-internal/passthrough"
    fn="service-passthrough"
    servers="http://<AppServer>:9081/wps/"
    </Object>
    - This is magnus.conf file:
    Init fn=flex-init access="$accesslog" format.access="%Ses->client.ip% - %Req->vars.auth-user% [%SYSDATE%] \"%Req->reqpb.clf-request%\" %Req->srvhdrs.clf-status% %Req->srvhdrs.content-length%"
    Init fn="load-modules" shlib="/opt/SUNWwbsvr/bin/https/lib/libj2eeplugin.so" shlib_flags="(global|now)"
    Init fn="load-modules" shlib="/opt/SUNWwbsvr/plugins/passthrough/libpassthrough.so"
    When I am trying to access the WebServer URL http://<WebServer>:<port>/wps/ is not redirting to AppServer URL i.e (http://<AppServer>:9081/wps/).
    - Please find the log file as below :-
    [26/Nov/2006:10:52:11] warning ( 5727): for host 172.16.5.63 trying to GET /wps/, send-file reports: HTTP4142: can't find /opt/SUNWwbsvr/docs/wps/ (File not found)
    - I am confusing it searching the "wps" directory under the doc root directory.
    Kindly help to suggest me to resolve the issue.
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Best Regards

  • Reverse proxy redirecting not proxying

    I'm having trouble getting a reverse proxy to work as I expected it to.
    Scenario;
    Webserver 7 u 3 installed on host1.domain.com, instance listening on 8080
    Reverse proxy point configured for /agentsample -> http://host2.otherdomain.com:8080
    Now when I go to http://host1.domain.com:8080/agentsample two redirects occur, first is back to itself, then a second redirect to http://host2.otherdimain.com:8080/agentsample. This is where I have a problem, why am I being redirected, and not proxied?
    Furthermore, if I set the webserver7 up to be on port 80, crate a proxy for /agentsampe -> http://host2.otherdomain.com:8080 and then browse to http://host1.domain.com/agentsample I get redirected to http://host2.otherdomain.com/agentsample (which won't connect).
    So, does anyone know why this isn't working? I have other proxy points configed on host2.domain.com /idm -> http://host3.otherdomain.com:8202 for example, it works as expected, browsing to http://host2.domain.com:8080/idm gives me the page contect from host2.otherdomain.com but with the host2.domain.com URL - true proxying, no redirects.
    Any assistance appreciated.

  • Guest Wireless traffic redirect to Proxy Server

    I have Guest WLAN and i want to redirect all the traffice to Proxy Server. We use Cisco Ironport.
    Cisco proxy Ironport has the ip 10.X.X.X.
    We also have NCS Server. Can anybody tells me where i can configure this
    best regards and thanks in advance

    Muzaffar:
    If you have web-auth configured you may have problems with the redirection if the users are using manual proxy server configured.
    For that, you better enable WebAuth proxy redirection on wireless controller.
    Here is the config example

  • Web Service authentication and PROXY Issue

    HI All,
    Recently I developed an application in Flex 2 which uses
    webservices to access remote data.One more point to be noted, that
    these webservices are secured( i.e they need username and password
    to access)
    I got a production server ( say
    myProduction server) and all my webservices are deployed on
    it. We have a SAP portal running on this server. I have created a
    PAR file of my applications .SWF file and hosted it on the portal.
    When I run my application from myProduction, it runs fine, no
    issues with it.
    Now, I have a proxy server ( say
    myProxy server), which is used to make my application
    available on the internet.
    This proxy redirects all the requests to myProduction server.
    When I try to run my application from myProxy Server, I am
    getting the following error:
    [RPC Fault faultString="Security error accessing url"
    faultCode=
    Channel.Security.Error"
    faultDetail="Unable to load WSDL". If currently online,
    please verify the URI and/or format of the WSDL (

    Do I need any configuration files to be maintained? How do I
    resolve this proxy issue??
    myProxy server is not able to load the WSDL from
    myProduction.I am not usinfgFlex Data Services. I am directly
    accessing the services.
    If anyone knows about this issue please help me. Any help
    would be greatly appreciated.
    This issues has been unresolved since 15 days now.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    I am not sure if what I am suggesting may be the source for
    the problem, but it could be that you will need a
    crossdomain.xml file deployed on your production server, so
    that it can accept the requests from the Portal. Also, I guess you
    will be using a
    flex-config.xml or
    services-config.xml. Just make sure that all server paths
    have been properly mapped to the values entered in the destination
    attributes of the WebService tags.
    I hope that helps.

  • Images,css not appearing properly after accessing the reverse proxy page.

    Usecase :
    1) OHS1 with mod_osso agent deployed.
    2) OHS1 configured as reverse proxy.It points to the webserver(OHS2) of the app1.
    OHS1(mod_osso agent installed)-->OHS2(app1 webserver)
    3) httpd.conf entry in OHS1:
    ProxyRequests Off
    <Proxy *>
    Order deny,allow
    Allow from all
    </Proxy>
    ProxyPass /test/ http://tkcltkcl.padma.xxx.com:8088/test/
    ProxyPassReverse /test/ http://tkcltkcl.padma.xxx.com:8088/test/
    4) The direct url for appl1 works as per expectation. The reverse proxy redirects from the OHS1 correctly to the app1 OHS webserver accessing the app1 url.But the contents in the redirected app1 url are not aligned properly.Images,css,placement of html links are not appearing properly on the page.
    Do we need to do any other configuration in the revere proxy setup so as to avoid the misalignment on the redirected page?
    Thanks.

    Hi:
    Thanks for the reply! I have been UTTERLY scrupulous about
    keeping precisely time-matched and points-in-my-process-matched
    copies of the project folder for logical, "scientific" testing in
    RH5 and RH7, on precisely matched content.
    I have never even tried to open an RH7-processed copy of the
    project in RH5 because I was warned strongly against this action.
    It boils down to this; I cleaned up, FANATICALLY, all those
    illegitmate filenames, ran the project again in 5, still got
    impermissible missing images (and I mean MORALLY impermissible,
    because I'm doing the right thing!)
    Then, I took that project folder, copied it, and opened the
    exact same ingredients, via the .xpj file, in RH7. Same missing
    images.
    WAIT! Left out something important in first post! Dang; this
    was important! I've fixed missing images, had them appear properly
    upon compilation, then had others that HAD been right, come out
    missing. Have also had reimported, re-placed images come out upon
    compilation following repair, and then go missing again on third or
    later, subsequent compilations. Maddening.
    Am EXTREMELY reluctant to delete CPD file, because the last
    time I did that, I lost EXTENSIVE work I'd done on TOC and Index.
    Not cool at all.
    Hope this wasn't too cranky; truly grateful for help. Just
    very frustrated.
    Thanks!

  • Can a WLC redirect HTTPS traffic in a CWA environment

    Hi Guys.
    Regarding with ISE, CWA and WLC, I 'm seeing that when you connect to the SSID and open your navigator, if the URL is an HTTPS URL the traffic is not redirected to the ISE Portal using CWA. I though that the WebAuth Proxy Redirection Port option of the WLC only works when It has the portal (LWA) but not in CWA.
    I only found information about the redirection of the traffic when is a HTTP connection (port 80).
    Is it possible to redirect HTTPS traffic in a CWA deployment??, most of my users use Google Chrome and, in some scenarios, any search using Gooogle is in HTTPS mode and the captive portal is not shown.
    Thanks.
    Best regards.

    No, the WLC is not able to redirect HTTPS pages.
    You can however add other ports(other than 80) that can be redirected incase of proxy etc.

  • 'MacInstall' Google redirect trojan - how do I uninstall?

    Hi,
    I think I have a Google redirect trojan called 'macinstall'. I am on Mac OS X Mavericks 10.9.1 and it happens on every search in safari 7.0.1 and firefox even though I have reset all the basic preference settings (which were changed) and deleted an extension called macinstall. I have tried changing the DNS to an open one (208.67.222.222) as this was suggested in another forum, but this hasn't worked and I have also deleted a proxy redirect which I could see although had no idea if that might help. Has been a problem since I downloaded 'Paintbrush', hence why I think it must be a trojan and given its name it's likely I did let it install. I can't find any mention of this trojan online, which may partly be because it is redirecting my browsers...
    For example: when I type 'test' into the google toolbar I get:
    'http://search.installmac.com/results.html?c=5&v=insMac&q=test', then:
    'search.conduit.com/Results...' which is too quick for me to copy, then:
    'http://www.bing.com/search?q=test&pc=conduit&ptag=A23C4503E21E14808B6F&form=CONM HP&conlogo=CT3210127'
    which gives a rubbish bing search full of nonsense, but not full of illegal/ dodgy sites as far as I can tell which the other redirects seem to do.
    I am also pretty sure my whole system is running a lot more slowly. I am currently running the free trial of MacScan to see if it can find anything but it's only picked up tracking cookies so far.
    Please help! Idiot-proof instructions please.

  • Ip admission auth-proxy

    Platform:  881W
    IOS: C880-DATA-UNIVERSALK9-M 15.0(1)M3
    License:  I have tried both advsecurity and advipservices
    Problem:  Configuring an auth-proxy redirect on seccessful authentication
    Cisco's documentation states that when you are configuring auth-proxy, you may specify a url in which the clients will be redirected to when successfully authenticated.  The command is:
    ip admission proxy http success redirect <url-string>
    However, the command does not seem to exist on many of the latter IOS versions.  I am also unable to find any documentation with alternate methods of sending a redirection to the client after a successful authentication.  Is this command depricated?  Is there a more efficient method of redirecting?

  • Cisco WSA : Is it possible to use web proxy in transparent mode without WCCP router ?

    Hello !
    I would like to use Cisco WSA as a web proxy in a transparent way (without any configuration in client's web browsers) but i don't have a WCCP router. So, is it possible ?
    If yes, how to do this ?
    Thank you,
    Stephane Walker

    Hi Stephane
    The only alternative to WCCP is PBR (Policy Based Routing). With a simple configuration on the router you can redirect traffic defined as interesting by access list to WSA. On the WSA you need to configure transparent mode (Security Services -> Web Proxy -> Edit Settings -> Proxy Mode: Transparent). You also need to assure that proxy is listening on the port 80 and that HTTPS proxy is enabled (on port 443) if you want to redirect the HTTPS traffic as well.
    Sample configuration for Cisco router
    access-list 110 permit tcp any any eq www
    route-map proxy-redirect permit 10
    match ip address 110
    set ip next-hop xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
    interface ethernet0/1
    ip policy route-map proxy-redirect
    xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the proxy IP in such case and access-list 110 defines web traffic (HTTP TCP/80) as interesting.
    The biggest disadvantage of such solution is lack of failure detection. If the proxy will go down for some reason router will keep redirecting the traffic causing internet access outage.
    Routers other than Cisco equipment should also have an option to configure policy based routing.
    /Artur
    Ps. It's not possible to place the WSA in-line between clients and the internet.

  • Performing reverse proxy re-directs and re-writes depending on case of url

    Hi,
    I have a front-end v6.1 SP6 web server running on Windows that hosts a public facing web site as well as re-directs specific folder urls to back-end applications hosted on Linux based application servers.
    I need to perform proxy re-directs and / or url re-writes depending on the case-sensitivity of the url requested from the Windows hosted web server.
    i.e. There is a back-end application with the internal url http://abc.internal.com/ABC, which importantly will not serve pages from http://abc.internal.com/abc
    So what I need is:
    www.external.com/ABC  -- proxy redirect -->  abc.internal.com/ABCwhereas
    www.exernal.com/abc  -- rewrite -->  www.external.com/ABC  -- proxy redirect -->  abc.internal.com/ABCWhat I have so far will provide the reverse proxy re-write for /ABC:
    <Object name="default">
    NameTrans fn="assign-name" from="/ABC(|/*)" name="abc.internal.com"
    </Object>
    <Object name="abc.internal.com" 2=">">
    ObjectType fn="force-type" type="magnus-internal/passthrough"
    Service fn="service-passthrough" servers="http://191.168.1.10:80"
    </Object>However, this will also reverse proxy requests for /abc which will return an error from the internal app server. So, is it possible to perform a case-sensitive dependent re-write / redirection on v6.1 on Windows?
    N.b. I realise that the back-end application could be modified to handle both upper and lower case requests but that is not an option here.
    Thanks for your help.

    I can't think of an easy way to do what you want. On Windows, Web Server treats URIs and paths as case insensitive, so there's no obvious way to treat /ABC differently than /abc.
    I do see a few options. Unfortunately, they're all relatively complicated:
    a) Write an NSAPI plugin
    b) Write a Servlet filter
    c) Use Sun Java System Web Server 7.0
    If you switch to 7.0, you can use case-sensitive regular expressions:<If $uri =~ '^/ABC/?'>
    NameTrans fn="assign-name" name="abc.internal.com"
    </If>
