PSE 12: Magische Extraktion verschwunden?

Hallo zusammen,
ich nutze seit heute PSE12 und muss mit Schrecken feststellen, dass die magische Extraktion nicht mehr verfügbar ist.
Habt Ihr die gleiche Beobachtung gemacht und weiss jemand, warum Adobe diese aus dem Prgramm entfernte?

Ich habe die Möglichkeit der Kantenverbesserung in Verbindung mit dem Lasso natürlich verprobt. Aber in der Komplexität des Workflow gibt es doch einen erheblichen Unterschied.
Die Magische Extraktion ist für Vorgänge mit klaren Kanten (z.B. ein Adlerkopf, oder ein Auto) die angebrachteste Methode. Die Nachbereitungszeit mit z.B. dem Radiergummi bedeutet maximal einen Zeitaufschlag von 0,05 bis 0,1.
Ich denke, dass Adobe auf keinen Fall Kunden vom Umstieg auf die 12er Version abhält, wenn die Magische Extraktion "nachgereicht" wird.
Bis dahin muss ich noch mit beiden Versionen arbeiten. In der Leistungsbilanz beeinhaltet die 12 nach meiner Auffassung keine großen Verbesserungen.
Hintergrund: Ich kam zu der 12, weil in der 11 nach Mavericks-Installation die Funktion Filter/Zeichenfilter/Comic zum Programmabsturz führt.

In PSE12 fehlt die wirklich hervorragende Funktion der magischen Extraktion, wie ich sie aus PSE9 und später aus PSE11 kenne. Nun muss ich die PSE11 behalten, um komplexe Extraktionen zu erarbeiten, die dann später in PSE 12 weiter bearbeiten kann.
Falls Ihr Euch fragt, was dieser "Blödsinn" soll: In PSE11 funktioniert seit OS MAVERICKS die Funktionalität: Filter/Zeichenfilter/Comics nicht mehr. Das Programm stürzt ab. Also : 2-Gleisig? Ich habe vorher nicht gewusst, das PSE12 die Funktion "Magische Extraktion" nicht mehr hat.

PSE6: Katalog verschwunden

Hallo
all meine (über 10'000) Bilder hatte ich in einem Katalog in PSE 6 verwaltet. Nun ist dieser Katalog einfach verschwunden (vor kurzem hatte ich einen Virus auf dem Laptop). Wenn ich PSE öffne, steht unten links "mein Katalog" mit 0 Elementen.
Die Bilder sind auf einer externen Festplatte gespeichert.
Nun dachte ich, "Katalog wiederherstellen" wird wohl die richtige Funktion sein. Das funktioniert allerdings nicht.
Ich wähle: "Katalog von CD, DVD oder Festplatte wiederherstellen" - und wähle meine Festplatte aus. Weiter: "Wiederherzustellende Sicherungsdateien suchen" - ich klicke mich durch bis zum Ordner, der all meine Fotos enthält, die da nach Datum geordnet sind. Nun kann ich die nicht alle markieren und auswählen. Ich müsste also theoretisch jeden Ordner einzeln anwählen gehen. Doch auch das würde nicht klappen. Denn das Programm erkennt meine Bilder gar nicht. Klicke ich einen einzelnen Ordner an, wird nichts angezeigt. Bei Dateityp ist das Format "tally" angegeben, ein anderes steht nicht zur Auswahl.
Was kann ich tun, damit ich meinen Katalog wiederherstellen kann?

Auch wenn dieser Thread schon länger nicht mehr diskutiert wurde möchte ich noch meine Lösung für dasselbe Problem schildern, da auch ich ziemlich viel Zeit mit dem Problem verschwendet habe.
Ich wollte auch einen Katalog von Photoshop Starter Edition 3.0 mit Photoshop Elements 8.0 konvertieren. Zunächst alle Versuche erfolglos. Bei Adobe war auch nichts zu finden. Dies ist ziemlich traurig, wenn man dann herausfindet wie einfach doch die Lösung wäre

Die Konvertierung des Katalogs hatte bei mir mit allen Dateien Probleme, die von mir jemals editiert wurden, d.h. von denen es mehrere Versionen gab.
Die Lösung sieht wie folgt aus:
Ich habe alle Dateien markiert und im Popup Menü den Punkt gewählt "Zurück zu Original".
Damit sind zwar alle Änderungen verloren aber der Katalog konnte anschliessend fehlerfrei konvertiert werden.
Dies war mir bei über 10.000 getaggten Bildern doch wichtiger als ein paar rote Augen nochmal entfernen zu müssen.
Wahrscheinlich hätte es auch funktioniert den Befehl "Original durch bearbeitete Version ersetzen". Dann wären alle Änderungen erhalten aber die Originaldateien nicht mehr verfügbar.
Beides wird wahrscheinlich gehen, das Problem besteht meines Erachtens wahrscheinlich nur wenn mehrere Versionen der Datei exisieren.
Ich hoffe, dass diese Beschreibung noch vielen andern helfen kann, die dasselbe Problem mit Adobe erleiden.

Der Einband meines Fotobuches ist verschwunden. Die Rückseite des Buches wird nicht mehr angezeigt.

Ich kann diesen Fehler in keinem Buch reproduzieren, aber hast Du es mal mit dieser Lösung versucht, siehe: Re: iPhoto 11 - deleted cover page ?
Einfach einmal irgendwo im Buch eine neue leere Doppelseite einfügen und dann diese beiden Seiten zwischen die letzte Seite und den Einband verschieben. In anderen Fällen hat dieses die leerseiten magisch in einen neuen Einband verwandelt.

PSE 5 löscht komplette EXIF-Informationen

Ich habe seit zwei Tagen PSE 5 installiert und vorher mit PSE 3 gearbeitet. Die Konvertierung der Kataloge hat funktioniert und an die geänderte Arbeitsweise habe ich mich auch schon etwas gewöhnt.
Am zweiten Tag stellte ich dann aber plötzlich fest, dass bei einigen Bildern, die ich am Tag zuvor bearbeitet habe, die EXIF-Informationen verschwunden waren. Nach einigen Tests habe ich dann herausgefunden, dass die EXIF-Informationen gelöscht werden, wenn ich im Organizer mit Strg+I den Editor aufrufe! Sobald der Editor
erscheint, ist meine Bilddatei bereits verändert worden (einige kByte kleiner) und alle Kamera-spezifischen EXIF-Informationen (Blende, Belichtungszeit, ISO, usw.) sind weg.
Das passiert nicht bei allen Bildern. Aber wenn es bei einem Bild passiert, dann läßt es sich der Effekt mit diesem Bild auch jedesmal wieder reproduzieren.
Ich verwende Windows und benutze bei der Bearbeitung keine Versionen.
Würde mich über umgehende Hilfe sehr freuen.

Photoansicht im Organizer PSE

Hallo Experten,
ich bin PSE.3-Neuling.
Im Organizer begleitete mich anfangs während der Photoansicht rechts außen am Bildschirm eine senkrechte Laufleiste, welche die Miniaturen der auzusehenenden Bilder zeigte.
Jetzt fehlt auf einmal diese hilfreiche Einrichtung.
In den "Voreinstellungen" zur "Fotoansicht" kann ich keinen Schalter finden, der die verschwundene Miniaturen-Leiste wieder einschaltet. Leider ist auch die offizielle "Hilfe" enthaltsam.
Wer weiß die Lösung ?
Ich danke schon einmal im Voraus.

Bravo !! Ich bin begeistert! Es funktioniert: der Filmstreifen ist wieder auf meinen Bildschirm zuzückgekehrt. Und jetzt weiß ich auch, wie ich den Film bei Bedarf recht einfach aus- und wieder einblenden kann.

PSE 3.0 Organizer

Wenn ich meine Bilder von der Kamera lade, werden alle in den Organizer gestellt. Die bleiben aber auch physisch zu sehen, wenn sie längst von der Festplatte gelöscht sind. Will ich sie aufrufen, kriege ich einen Hinweis, dass sie nicht auffindbar sind. Wie kann ich die Bilder im Organizer auf den aktuellen Festplattenbestand reorganisieren?

Nun Herr Bender da haben Sie jetzt vermutlich ein Problem, dessen Größe davon abhängig ist, wie viele Bilder sich insgesamt in Ihrem(n) Katalog(en) befinden, denn: Wenn Sie einen stringenten Katalog haben wollen, müssen Sie alle Bilder aus dem Katalog löschen, die auch nicht mehr auf Ihrem Speichermedium, Ihrer Festplatte etc. vorhanden sind. Ermitteln können Sie diese wenigstens (wenigstens deshalb, weil ich nicht der erfahrenste Anwender bin, aber Ihnen dennoch irgendwie helfen möchte, weil ich das Problem, glücklicherweise in kleinerer Ausprägung, auch schon hatte) auf einem Weg, nämlich:
Menü Datei anklicken, und dort dann erneut verbinden anklicken. Und schwupps werden Ihnen der Reihe nach alle die Bilder genannt, die der Organizer nicht finden kann, weil er keine Verbindung zu der eigentlichen Datei hat. Sei es, weil die Datei außerhalb der Benutzung des Organizers verschoben oder, wie in Ihrem Falle, gelöscht wurde. Wenn es viele Bilder sind, ist das eine Höllenarbeit, läßt sich aber nach meiner, zugegebenermaßen laienhaften, Kenntnis nicht anders machen. Und wenn Sie die Bilder alle genau kennen, die nicht mehr auf der Platte sind, weil es z.B. nur wenige sind, dann können Sie diese Bilder, also die Katalogbilder, die es in Wirklichkeit gar nicht mehr gibt ganz einfach löschen, indem Sie sie markieren, dann mit der re. Maustaste auf eines der markierten Bilder gehen, und dann den mit einer Mülltonne gekennzeichneten Auswahlpunkt Aus Katalog löschen anklicken. Anschließend werden Sie dann noch gefragt, ob Sie die ausgewählten Bilder auch von der Festplatte löschen möchten. Nun in Ihrem Falle ist es egal, ob Sie diesen Punkt dann noch anhaken oder nicht, da die Bilder ja ohnehin nicht mehr, wie Sie ausführen, auf der Festplatte sind. Also mit OK bestätigen, und schwups sind die markierten Elemente aus Ihrem Katalog gelöscht und auf Nimmerwiedersehen verschwunden. Im Papierkorb werden Sie sie nicht wiederfinden. Nur noch für kurze Zeit über Bearbeiten und dann Rückgängig machen anklicken. Ansonsten sind sie weg; spätestens beim ganz normalen Neustart von PSE.
Ihr Problem dürfte bei der Benutzung des Organizers von zentraler Bedeutung sein, denn: Immer dann, wenn die tatsächlichen, auf der Platte gespeicherten Bilder (Dateien) NICHT mittels des Organizers gelöscht, umbenannt oder verschoben werden, hat, logischerweise, der Organizer ein Problem, das dann ganz schnell, wie in Ihrem Falle, zu Verdruß führt. Der Organizer funktioniert nur dann richtig, wenn er kein Nebenbeiprogramm ist, sondern das absolute Abbild der von ihm beobachteten Ordner. Alles andere ist Quatsch.
Der Organizer will eigentlich ein 100%iges Spiegelbild der Festplatte sein, oder wenigstens derjenigen Ordner auf der Festplatte, die Sie unter seine Beobachtung gestellt haben (Bearbeiten, Voreinstellungen, Dateien). Und wenn Sie im Bereich dieser vom Organizer beobachteten Ordner etwas verändern (umbenennen, verschieben, löschen), sollten Sie das generell nur mittels des Organizers tun. Und nicht mittels des Explorers oder anderer Dienste. Der PSE Organizer versteht sich nach meiner Auffassung hinsichtlich seines Aufbaues und seiner Möglichkeiten nicht als kleines Spielzeug oder Hilfsmittel, sondern als DAS Programm (welches keine anderen neben sich duldet), welches zum Verwalten von Fotodateien zu benutzen ist. Alles andere führt zum Verdruß beim Umgang mit PSE.
Für mich hat es sich bewährt, daß ich meine Kamerabilder (von mir aus auch die Fishings aus dem www) NICHT mittels des Organizers lade, sondern mittels des Explorers. Ich lade diese Bilder also von der Kamera (oder aus dem www) immer zunächst in einen Vorordner, um sie dann von dort aus mittels PSE zu verschieben, umzubenennen etc. Einen evtl. Löschvorgang nehme ich aber stets mit dem PSE Organizer vor. Für MICH scheint das logischer, und außerdem möchte ich mich nicht vollends in die PSE Abhängigkeit begeben. Aber so sehe ICH das halt. Nochmal: Jede Form der Bildverwaltung und alles was damit zusammenhängt (bis zum endgültigen löschen), mache ich ausschließlich mit dem PSE Organizer. Und aus jenem meinem "Vorordner" lade ich mir dann die Bilder, nachdem ich zuvor den "passenden" Katalog gewählt habe, vermittelst des PSE Organizers, in eben jenen Organzer, um sie anschließend, wieder vermittelst des Organizers, in die endgültigen Ordner zu verschieben, umzubenennen, mit Bildtiteln zu versehen, zu "taggen" etc. etc.
Und bei dieser Herangehensweise sind meine zwei Kataloge mit insgesamt ca. 6000 Bildern, das totale Abbild der überwachten Ordner. Dieses Vorgehen macht übrigens Backups wirklich kinderleicht und pfeilschnell.
Wenn Ihr Katalog nun wirklich gar nichts mehr mit der Wirklichkeit (jener Ihrer Ordner auf der Platte) zu tun hat, wäre es u. U. sinnvoll, von vorne zu beginnen, was bei vielen Bildern mit Tags etc. natürlich nicht gerade lustig ist; eher was für n Winter). Na ja schaun Se mal Hoffe, Ihnen wenigstens ein wenig geholfen haben zu können.

PSE icons instead of the photo. I need to view photos at a glance. Please help me????

Please help, this is driving me crazy. I have downloaded my free PSE #9, it came with my Leica Camera. I cannot view at a glance any of my photos. There is only an icon that reads, PSE. To view any of my photos, I must click select and then preview. This gets old, and I am doing 4 times the work. I am having to use the dates to guess where my photos might be. I hate this! My old Photo Shop #5 didn't do this. When you went to my pictures, you could see every photo.
I have tried the right click and open as any program. What ever program I choose, that is the icon that appears. No photo. Still no good.

Hi,
Are you using Windows Explorer to view the files?
If so, load Explorer, go to the Tools menu and select Folder Options.
Click on the View tab and make sure the first option (Always show icons, never thumbnails) is not checked.
Click on OK and see if that is any better.

Opening animated gif in PSE 8 for Mac

I am switching from PSE for PC to PSE 8 for Mac.
I have always been able to open animated gif as layers and work with them, then resave as an updated animated gif.
WIth PSE 8 for Mac, I get a pop up that the file is animated and can only see the top frame. Any ideas on how to open up all of the frames in layers?

Do I need to enable this process for my Mac? Maybe I'm missing a plug-in or update?
I have been opening these files from others, tweeking and resaving for almost 2 years in PSE. It definitely will not shuffle the individual panels on an animated gif into the layers box.
My tweeking usually involves adjusting frame speed. Is that what you mean by 'frame rate'?

"Program Error" While trying to print in PSE 9

Download and installed updates to PSE 9.0, Now 9.03. While in PSE mode I can no longer print images to Epson Photo R2880 or HP J4680. I can print to both printers using HP Media Smart Photo application, but if I attempt to print from PS Elements I get the following "could not print (image title) because of program error". I have since uninstalled the upgrade to PSE 9.03, I have also done a system restore all to no avail. I still can't print while in PSE. Any experience with this? Any resolution ? Help !!!

IPod Touch 2G No Longer Sees Photoshop Elements (PSE) Album Photos

Hello Forum,
All was working fine. I would create an album in PSE 7 on Win XP, my iPod Touch would see the album and all the photos in that album, successful sync, and copies of the photos would be stored on my iPod Touch.
Then for data security and redundancy, I relocated my My Documents folder to a network RAID disk array. My Music and My Photos folders therefore also got relocated. After fixing some paths iTunes works fine, and PSE 7 also works fine. PSE 7 albums are completely intact and accessible from the network share.
BUT, when I go to sync my iPod Touch with PSE7, the iPod sees all the PSE album names in iTunes, but says that each album has exactly 0 photos. So now my iPod has no photos. Please help me fix this problem.
One other thing, if I point my iPod at a specific photo folder on the network share, and tell it to sync to this folder, the photos in the folder move to the iPod with no problems. But I don't want to have to create photo copies in new folders just to sync with the iPod; the PSE Album concept is perfect, if it would only work now!

I've had exactly the same issue with my iPhone 3GS and iTunes 10.4. I reported it to Apple and was told it was likely an error that crept into 10.4 and to expect a fix in an upcoming release of iTunes. I'm waiting for that to happen still...

PSE 8 printing problem with HP 8750 Printer

When trying to print oversized (10 x 11) images in PSE 8 with my HP 8750 printer the printed image looks like a postage stamp. I've done everything the same as I did with PSE7 and the same printer with no problem. What could the solution to this? It's quite frustrating, not to mention the ruined 12x12 paper, which is a bit expensive. I upgraded to Windows 7 64-bit a few months ago and had no problems installing the printer or PSE 8. Everything has been working smoothly up to this point. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

What I should have said is that the image "is the size of" a postage stamp...about 1 inch x 1 inch.
I'm still wrestling with this. I finally got a page to print out correctly, now the 2nd page is giving me fits, and I though I wrote down all the settings, but apparently I must have missed one.

Help? PSE 9 - was a full version, now the serial on my adobe account is registered as "Beta"?

I have a bit of a frustrating situation - I received a full copy of Photoshop Elements 9 (for Mac) with a printer 2 years ago, installed it and used it on and off without problem for a year or so. Brilliant.
Earlier this year, running out of disk space, I had a clean-up of my machine to free up some space and as part of that I uninstalled PSE9.
I now need to reinstall PSE9, but I've lost the serial number (was printed on a slip of paper with the software bundled with the printer). So, first attempt was to recover the installed app from the Mac "Time Machine" backup from before my cleanup. I was able to recover the PSE folder/app, but it wouldn't launch - I'm guessing there are some other system files I need or something (I'm primarily a PC user, and I suspect there are "Program Files" equivalents to consider)...
Anyway, with that not working, I tried reinstalling from the CD (hoping there may be a "repair installation" option of some kind - but there wasnt). So I went through the regsitration, through the adobe id login & halted once more at the serial key screen.
After several attempts to recover from backup, uninstall, install, reinstall, (throw mac out of window....!!!) I eventually logged into adobe.com, and found to my delight that my serial number for PSE9 was accessible in my account - excellent! So I joyfully entered that into the installation screen and .... NO!! "error: serial number is not valid for this product".
Frustrated at this point I contacted Adobe chat help, who (cutting another long 45 minute story short) advised that the serial number in my account was for a "beta" version of PSE9. ...even though the disc and original serial (decomposing in landfill somewhere now...!) I have is for a full version. I have used it as I said and it is definitely not "beta" or a trial!!!!
I noticed also that my account registration date was showing as 2nd November 2012 (i.e. that same day), despite me having originally registered with my original product installation almost 2 years prior on 12/12/2010 (I have the welcome "Your Adobe Membership" email in my GMail still).
So with hindsight now, I'm wondering if by trying to reinstall PSE yesterday and logging in with my adobe id, my account and/or my serial number from 2010 has been overwritten with a new account(?) and "temporary" serial number? That's all I can think of, and now I have no way of recovering my serial number! (bundled with the printer, the serial number came on a printed piece of paper, which 2 years on, I've lost)
This is quite a specific sequence of events, I realise, but has anybody else experienced this, and if so, is there any way I can recover my original serial number (without of course paying for another licence? Or putting my wellies on & digging through the local refuse tip!!).

PSE 8 - Archive on external hard drive including captions and tags

I started my above discussion some time ago with Mark and due to the lateness in my responding the case appears to have been closed. However I am hoping that someone can comment on my intended course of action, see below, based on his suggestions?
Just recapping having successfully migrated my Photoshop Album 2 catalog including captions across to PSE 8 and now my objective is to move my entire PSE 8 catalog to an external hard drive leaving only thumbnail view to remain. Obviously I am anxious to avoid any catastrophe and therefore would appreciate comment on the correctness of the steps involved. I have arrived at these by simply modifying Mark's original steps. Please correct where necessary.
1) Connect my external hard drive where I want to copy the files too. Make sure I can 'see' it in Explorer
2) Open Photoshop Elements 8; click the Organize button on the Welcome screen
3) Displayed in my welcome screen is my entire catalog with each album matching in title and file (photo) content to the folder title and file (photo) content in the folder location displayed to the left of screen.
4) Go to the File menu, and select 'Write Keyboard Tag and Propertise Info to Photo'. In my case most but not all files (photos only) will have tag and caption data. Rather than attempting to select the files that I wish to embed tag and caption metadata does Organiser have a global 'search and embed instruction' so that when it gets a 'match' on .jpg number it will embed automatically?
5) After completion, I go to the File menu, and select 'Copy/Move to Removable Disk...' click the MOVE button to move the files from their current location to my nominated external hard drive.
6) Click the Next button, and select the external drive in order to copy the files to the drive.
Can you confirm?
* On completion of the above steps my external hard drive will allow access to full resolution versions of the file from Photoshop Elements including any existing caption or tag data organised identically to my PSE 8 catalog (only one catalog)?
* Am I correct in assuming that also all original photos from my laptop will be removed and if not can be deleted given their existence on my external hard drive?
* Is the data which now resides on the external hard drive capable of being read on any other PC which may not have Elements software?

I have 2 laptops an aging Dell and new HP. I have successfully followed your
instruction and deleted 1 & 2 below on both.
The Dell PSE 8 now has:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\PSE 8 (240Mb)
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Elements Organizer 8.0 (502Mb)

But a total of 3,894 and I am unable to identify where the additional 1Gb
resides. In Documents & Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Elements
Organizer is 120Mb. I have attempted to delete this but lost the catalog in
the process so had to restore from the Recycle bin and it now appears to
have reconnected correctly. Frankly I can live with these large file sizes
but would like an opinion on their potential adverse impact at sometime in
the future.
I am not sure whether I need to start a new thread for "Are there any known
bugs in PSE 8 surrounding the burning of discs" I have attempted to burn
onto a new CD-RW my slideshow. The process of burning appeared to work but
the written to CD does not play on the DVD. I have also saved the slideshow
as a PDF. I can't recall exactly how but in selecting an incorrect option I
no longer have visibility of projects in 'Folder View'. The projects are a
single slideshow and PDF copy of the same. How do I regain visibility?

When creating a DVD face in Photoshop 13 my save options are limited to .PSE and .PDF. Why can I not save as a jpeg or other file format? This was never an issues in Elements 10 (my previous version).

I just recently purchased Elements 13. I am in the process of creating a DVD face for a video. The design is complete and I would like to be able to save it as a JPEG so I can use it in another program that prints my DVD's. The problem is that it only allows me to save the file as at PSE or a PDF. No other options are available. Why is this? I upgraded from Elements 10. In Elements 10 I have never had a problem saving this type of project as a JPEG. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

ANSWER FOUND!
Once I finished composing my question I went back and spent some time to figure out the problem. Rather than choosing the "save as" option, which doesn't work, or attempting to choose "export" (grayed out), the correct option is to choose "export creation", which is near the very bottom of the initial drop down options. That works! I still think it would make sense to have it as an option in the "save as" area.
