PSE 6 error in Photo Downloader 4

So Greatful for the support!!! One issue solved and onto another. I just got my editor to load by upgrading my printer drivers. But when I try to open my photoloader it opens and then when the "Loading Device List ....Please Wait" message comes up and it hangs up and eventually sends an error message or just hangs. I don't really need the photoloader but it might be nice to utilize it and skip using other programs. Hope there is some information for a repair. Thanks P
Error messaage: PSE 6 has encountered a problem with Photo Downloader 4 and must close.
PS Thought I would post again and say I tried several of options that I found in the search, with no success. I finally did the Regedit (I am always concerned messing with that!!) and sofar it looks like it is no longer loading!

Hi,
I guess, the twain driver installed recently is causing the problem.
Please follow the following steps:
1. Go to C:\Windows\twain_32
2. If you find any file with .ds extention (except wiatwain.ds), remove it from this location.
3. Relaunch Photodownloader.
This should solve the problem.

Photo Downloader and PSE 7

I have just installed PSE 7 and unistalled PSE 6. I no longer have the photo downloader in my system tray. Is it no longer part of the program or is it something I have to turn on? I'm not sure if it's supposed to run and got deleted with the PSE 6 uninstall.

In PSE 7 the Photo Downloader appears as part of the Windows autoplay window and you choose it there. If you want to use it all the time, just select that option in the window. It no longer appears in the system tray.

IPod problem with Adobe Photo Downloader

Question; When I connect my iPod to my computer do download photos I get: Fatal Error, Adobe Photo Downloader has encountered a problem and needs to close. Code c0000005 Address 7c910a19. Initially it did work, but no longer does. Changes are only Windows automatic updates.

I have an older version of Elements, and in that the downloader always runs in the background when it is enabled via preferences. I found this to be annoying and, therefore, disabled this feature.
My workflow is:
I use a card reader to import pictures from camera card to an empty folder on the desktop
Next, I burn a CD before I do anything else. This is my "film" - can always go back to retrieve an accidentally deleted file.
Then, I delete the obviously poor pictures from the desktop folder - motion, unflattering pose, etc.
Finally, I manually import the "keepers" into organizer, tag them, etc.
You could adapt this scheme to import into the organizer only the pictures which meet the test for what you call "my picture collection", i.e. those pictures which have been enhanced .
In the older version of Elements, the organizer allows one to make a collection. I believe that it called something else in PEv.7, but it is still there. The advantage of this is that you can assemble a group of photos for a particular purpose, which you do. It also allows you to define the order of the photos in the collection by dragging them into position. Suggest that you consult the help file re same.

PSE-11 Getting "Adobe Photo Downloader Error c0000005"

Machine: HP Pavilion g7 Notebook PC
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 and all updates applied
Processor: Intel Core i3 CPU 2.53GHz
RAM: 8GB (7.8 GB Usable)
Camera 1: Cannon Power Shot SX120 with a sanDisk 2GB SD card
Camera 2: Nikon D5000 with a Toshiba 32 GB SDHC card
OK I have been using the Adobe Photo Downloader ever since PSE 8 (I think) and never had a problem until now.
This is going to be a long post so please read the whole thing before replying.
Scenario: Took SD card from camera 1 and inserted it into the card reader slot on my laptop. Downloaded jpeg files into PSE11 without any problems. Removed SD card from reader and put it back into camera 1.
Tood SD card from camera 2 and inserted it into the same card reader slot on my laptop. Adobe Downloader opened and started to show the thumb nails of the pictures on the card (Raw format). After a few seconds I got the following message:
Adobe Photo Downloader has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Error Code: c0000005
Address: 76f73ac3
I clicked on the OK button and the downloader closed.
I then tried to download from the organizer. I got the same error. Before clicking on ok I was able to get te downloader as the current window and noticed that the 4 AVI files I had on the SD card had the hour glass symbol on them and not a picture as other times.
I then moved these 4 AVI files to a holding folder on my hard drive with windows explorer.
I then tried to download the pictures from the SD card one more time, it worked just fine.
I guess I have several questions:
Q1: I did a search on this error code (c0000005) and there seems to be a workaround but no solutions, why is this? I ask that because this problem seems to be years and years old, going back to at least 2005 (do the math that is 8 years).
Q2: I have downloaded AVI files taken with Camera 2 before without any problems, why am I getting this error all of a sudden? Before you ask the only difference is the version of PSE, I do not think I have downloaded any AVI files since installing PSE11.
Q3: I guess I do not have a third question, but if I think of one I will post it here.
Any help will be appreciated. Again I apologize for the long post.

I did a search on this error code (c0000005) and there seems to be a workaround but no solutions, why is this? I ask that because this problem seems to be years and years old, going back to at least 2005 (do the math that is 10 years).
I don't even have the Camera hooked up and I get this error on download. I redownloaded everything and reinstalled. I allso saw the AVI issues reported with this proble so i updated Quicktime though without the camera being hooked up when I get this error I didn't expect that to work. I tried support and they wouldn't help because I bought it in March this year. Pretty frustrating as I have re-purchased Elements about every 2 years. I think I might need a new CODEC? I had this problem on an Earlier version And I seem to remember that being the Fix but this may be something completely different

I finally found that it was missing a picture so the Catalog was "corrupted". I just deleted the picture and it started working.
I hate Adobe and their total lack of support - thanks for nothing Adobe . Also get this - they offered me to upgrade to 13.0 ( My 12.0 is only 6 months old but they still don't support it on errors. Only install errors!

I've moved to photos from iphoto and for a while all was good. And quite exciting. My entire 15k photos have migrated and are available on all my devices.
Suddenly, I get this warning when I select or try to edit a photo: Cant Download Photo: An error occurred while downloading a larger version of this photo for editing. Please try again later.
There is an exclamation mark and a warning triangle on the picture. I am only able to test on my ibook as my Imac is out of action.
If I log in to icloud in Safari, I can down load the full sized image no problem. Any one got any ideas?

How do i disable automatic photo downloading in PSE 12?

I have been searching for a way to disable the automatic photo downloading in Photoshop Elements 12, but haven't found any way to do it. I don't want the service running at all unless I choose to launch it manually.
What is the correct way to disable this feature, but without uninstalling PSE?

PSE 7 not auto downloading photos

I can't get the photo downloader to start automatically under Vista with PSE 7. When I go to autoplay options, the downloader is not one of those offered and I can't see how to add it.
The downloader works if I start it from within the organizers, but under Autoplay it won't let me choose it as one of the options, only Nero, Windows downloader and windows viewer.

Thanks for the confirmation about this incompatibility issue in Vista 64. It is a nuisance to have to manually download photos after getting spoiled by PSE's (32 bit) automated downloader. I did download the trial version of LightRoom (64 bit), and it's downloader is recognized in Vista 64. So it's just a 32 bit issue with PSE.
Otherwise, PSE 7 is fast and stable on Vista 64. Let's hope that Adobe sees the value in moving into the 64 bit age with all of their current software products, including PSE 7.

Help with Adobe Photo Downloader in PSE 7?

I do not allow PSE 7 to "see" pictures all over my hard drives; I have ONE watched folder called "my picture collection", in which are stored all of my "final copy" pictures, and these are the only pictures in "my catalog".
Since I am using Photoshop Elements to edit, and tag pictures, etc, I would like to use it to get photos from my Camera....however...
I want to import pictures from my camera, or scanner, to a different folder then my "watched folder", to a folder called "my Pictures F drive". I do this because these may be photos I DO NOT want in "My Catalog", such as today, pictures of the insides of an engine.
I can tell Adobe Photo Downloader NOT to open the Organizer after importing the pictures to whatever folder I wish, and organizer does not open; BUT, I am informed that the next time I open PSE 7, the Organizer will display these pictures, which it does. this is what I do NOT want; I don't want Organizer importing these pictues, and including them in "My Catalog" just because I used Photo Downloader to get them from my camera to a completely unrelated folder; NOT my "watched Folder". Is there any way of stopping Organizer from importing ALL photos handled by Photo Downloader?? If I want photos in "My Catalog", I move them into the "Watched Folder", and THEN I want Organizer to find them, and open them up for tagging etc (which it does). I can't find any way of doing this in "Preferences", or options in Photo Downloader. (The alternative would be to use a different program to get the pictures from the Camera, or scanner). IPhone photo downloader Error code: c0000005 Address: 7c910a19

I have seen several posts regarding this error but have yet to see a solution. I cannot download my photos from my iPhone to my computer. Is there a solution for this?

First you want to disable the Photo Downloader so you won't be getting the same fatal error every time you plug in your iphone into your computer. To disable the downloader, find the little camera icon on the bottom right hand side of the Windows taskbar, right click on it, and you should be given the option to disable it.
Next, click on "Start" on Windows task bar, open the "All programs" list, find "Scanner and Camera Wizard" in "Accessories." This program - Scanner and Camera Wizard - will be the default program you use to download photos from iphone to computer. Every time you connect your iphone with your computer, you should be given a dialogue window where you can pick the "Scanner and Camera Wizard" program to download the photos. Once selected, the program will take you through a step-by-step wizard to download the photos. Within the process of downloading, you can select folders or create a new folder for the photos. In my opinion, making a new folder makes it easier to import them altogether into photoshop organizer where I usually do the "Smart Fix" for all the photos.
Once you have the photos downloaded, open up Photoshop's organizer interface, go to "files," and then "Get photos and videos." Here you will select "from files and folders." Locate the folder where the photos are stored, and then import them directly into Photoshop. Now, you should be at where you usually land if the photo downloader was working properly.
There doesn't seem to be a solution to the photo downloader crashing program. I even tried restoring my iphone to factory settting. Nothing worked. But at least there is a way to work around it.

PSE 7 Photo Downloader

I have upgraded from PSE 6 to PSE 7 and when I download pictures from my camera, it says PSE 6 Photo downloader and not PSE 7. The downloader says it detects 2 versions PSE 5 and PSE 6(default). Why is it not detecting the new version of PSE 7? I use Windows XP.

You need to disable the PSE 6 downloader. To do that, in PSE 6, go to Edit > Preferences > Camera Or Card Reader and uncheck Autho Launch Adobe Photo Downloader. Restart your computer for good measure. At this point, you should no longer see the little camera icon in the Windows system tray in the lower-right corner.
Note that the PSE 7 downloader works a little differently: When you plug in a camera or card reader, youll see the Windows Autoplay window, and PSE 7 will be listed as one of the choices you can select, which will then launch the downloader.

PSE 9 - Photo Downloader missing "Advanced" option?

The PSE 9 Photo Downloader seems to have lost some of the features that the PSE 8 version had.
The PSE 8 version has an "Advanced" option that shows thumbnails of all of the files on the selected device/media and let you select which one you wanted to upload. You can also insert basic Metadata into each of the uploaded file.
The PSE 9 uploader does not appear to have the "Advanced" option and requires you to upload ALL of the files on the selected device/media and has no option to add Metadata.
The PSE 9 Preferences has a section for the uploader. That includes wether or not to do automatic correction and wether or not to do automatic uploads for specific devices. There is an option in the preferences to have a device use "Show APD Dialog (standard)", I do not see any options for an "advanced" manual upload.
Even the PSE 9 help says there is supposed to be an "Advanced" button on the downloader.
Is this correct, or am I missing something?

To uninstall PE12 on a MAC, can I just drag the PE12.app to the trash?
No! That will give you no end of trouble and will not fix anything. If you ever do need to uninstall you MUST use the uninstaller in applications>adobe photoshop Elements 12.
Go to your username>library>preferences and delete the following:
com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 paths
Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 settings
com.adobe.Elements Organizer.12.0.plist
com.adobe.ElementsOrganizer.12.plist
and any lockfiles with the same names. That library is hidden. To see it, option click the Go menu in the Finder and it will appear below the little house for your user account.
While you're in there go to the saved application states folder and delete any pertaining to PSE. Y
Repair permissions and try again. You will need to select your catalog on first opening organizer.
