Publish To Test Then Production Server

Never mind - I think I figured it out. It simply depends on
which server you are connected to, that's where it's going to put
them. You know, you'd think this simple tidbit would be *SOMEWHERE*
in some documentation in Dreamweaver. Harumph!
I feel kinda stupid. For many, many years I have been using
DreamWeaver to edit locally, then I PUT to my production server.
Wasn't an issue before. If it didn't work, I fixed it quickly and
no one was the wiser.
Things have progressed significantly, lately, with more
developers, so now I need to incorporate a test server. Fine. I
have a separate test server, went in and modified my site settings
to now include a test server. Get and put will get and put from/to
that test server just hunky-dory.
But how the heck do I migrate the code to production now? Do
I log on to the test server and PUT from there? There is no "put to
test" versus "put to production" button. I may a victim of
overthinking this, but your help appreciated! Thanks!

You need two site definitions. One would be local/remote at
test, and the
other would be local at test/remote at production.
Make sure you are using either checkin/checkout, or some
other version
control application when operating in an environment like
this.

  • Transfer data from Test to Production Server

    Dear All
I want to know how to transfer data from test server to production server.
Lets say we have done all the setup steps of GL, and we have also feeded chart of accounts, journal entries, recurring etc. at our test server. Now we want to shift our data from Test Server to Production Server.
    What can be the procedure?
    I shall be really thankful.

  • Migrating PS from test to production server

    Hi,
I'm going on a evaluation test for PS. It's installed and configured on a temporary server (the test server) and working fine. The next step is to have this working on the "real" environment, it means in the production server.
What will happen with the documents I've already applied a policy? Can i use this documents with the new installation? Will the documents be managed with the new server?
    Thanks, regards.

Given this, I think I would be inclined to set up a virtual server or
DNS alias for the production server, like
    adobepolicyserver.mycompany.com.
That way, you can freely move the policy server function around by
moving the software and changing the alias. If you simply use a name
assigned to the server for another purpose, you could hit the
situation where someone else decides that name has to change for
administrative reasons, or where e.g. there come to be two production
servers and someone decides Policy Server needs to move to the second
    one to balance the load.

  • Production server, quality servers

    Hello all,
I would like to know wats the exact difference between producion server, quality server, development server and sanbox. are the datas same in all these server.
    Thanks,
    Maxx

    Dear Maxx,
Development server is used for Development. Either Development/Golden Client is used for Configuration. Then all the developments and configuration data is transported Quality Server where you would test the configuration with test data. You would transport the same to Production if everything is right.
You will transport from DEV to QA and then QA to PROD. You will not transport from QA to DEV.
For your clarification you will not change any thing in QA. You will make the changes in DEV and transport them to QA. QA is only for testing.
Regarding two movement types - one is incoming and other one is outgoing.
For more information about the SAP Change and Transport System (CTS), visit the following link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/57/38ddff4eb711d182bf0000e829fbfe/frameset.htm
Transport Request is generated in following scenarios:
    1. Customizing Request - When doing or changing some customization.
    2. WorkBench Request - When configuration is cross-client. Eg Generating new Table, making changes in access sequence, Abap development, etc.
Transport request is not generated for Master Data. For eg: Customer Master, Material Master, price master, etc.
    Benefit of Transport Request:
SAP Landscape normally has 3- Tier system:
Development Server - Where customization takes place. Transport request is generated at this level & then first transported to Quality server for testing whether it meets the requirement or not. Once the requirement is met in Quality server then Request is transported from Development Server to Production Server (Actual / Live System)
Quality Server - Mainly useful for testing.
Production Server Actual / Live server, where the real transactions are created & posted.
Procedure to Release & Transport Request:
    1. In development server, go to T.Code: SE10 & select the check box Modifiable & enter
    2. In the next screen, you will see list of transport request created.
Note: Transport request consist of main request along with sub request. These sub request hold the object to be transported.
    3. Expand the main request & you will be able to view the sub requests attached to main request.
    4. First release the sub requests.
Note: To release the request, select the request ni & click on release request individually (Do not select release all request)
    5. Next release main request.
    6. Once the request is released sucessfully, imform the basis person to import the request to QA server.
    or
If the authority is with you, through T.Code: STMS, select development server --> select request no & release to QA server. Here when it pops up client no, user id & password, maintain it of QA server & release the request to QA server.
    Hope this will help.
    Regards,
    Naveen.

  • Movie not Playing on Production Server

Hello Everyone and thnaks for your help in advance.  I am relatively new to Flash development.  I created my first movie with a poster board.  It appears to work fine on my local machine, however, when I publish it to my production server, the poster board displays, but the click to play button does not play the movie.  The page is located at:
    http://www.katherinemclaughlin.com/katie_golf_poster_board.html
I'm not really sure what the problem is.  I copied all of the published files directly to the production server.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • SSIS package is taking more time on production server than test server

Same SSIS package was taking 18 hours on production and was just taking 6-7 hours on test server. When I increased the frequency of the Tlog backup file then it dropped to 11 hours. But still the difference of 3-4 hours is there.
I had doubt that production server might have online transaction causing this issues, however this was proved wrong when I shutdown production sites and then also same output.
Any idea where I am missing..
    Santosh Singh

Thanks for taking time and trying to understand the explanation I had shared, please find comments inline:
Are they performing server or database maintenance in the same window of time when the packages run. These include backups, index re-organize/rebuilt, partition switching, DBCC checks, statistics update, etc.?
Comments: I am DBA too for them so I know better what is going on. No such jobs are executing during this window.
What is the recovery model being used in production Full, Simple, Bulk-logged?
    Comments: Full
Are the indexes and statistics being maintained in the source system you are extracting data from?
    Comments:Yes
Have SQL Server configurations been modified such as Max Degree of Parallelism and Parallelism thresholds?
Comments: Yes it was earlier, then I changed that back to Default while comparing Test environment which has everything default.
Are there any special trace flags used to start up SQL Server in production?
Comments: No only Trace 1118 for Tempdb enabled.
Is SQL Server Auditing, Compression or Encryption being used in production?
Comments: Only Backup compression has been enabled, no Auditing and no Encryption
Is there Replication, Mirroring, Log-Shipping, Change Data Capture, Change Tracking being used in production?
Comments: No Replication, Mirroring, Log-Shipping, Change Data Capture, Change Tracking being used in production. Earlier we had log shipping, however as of now log shipping as well. Its long time ago we removed log shipping.
Are there other applications running along with SQL Server in the same Windows Server?
    Comments: No only sql server.
Has SQL Server max memory changed from the default value? How much RAM is left for Integration Services and Windows? Check if paging is occurring.
Comments: This is cluster setup for two instances on each node, so yes default memory is not still i had to adjust, however i didn't find high memory usage or memory issues in all log like sql, windows. 28 GB left for Integration Services and Windows
and 50 GB-50 GB between two sql server instances. Paging looks normal too.
Are there query hints being used in the SELECT queries?
Comments:  Query we have bad, however this is our last target. The same query is executing in 6 hours in Test server and why it is taking now 11 hours is  the question of the hour for me.
    Thanks for all help again.
Please let me know if I am missing anything.

  • How do you test any SAP objects before a transport to the production server

How do you test any SAP objects before a transport to the production server?

    Hi Rama Krishna,
The actual process is develop the object in development system and unit test there with the available data.
Then move it to Quality server where the data will be the actual replica of production and where the integration testing and ened to end testing happens and also the user acceptance testing  happens there.
and once everything is found fine there then it is moved to production system.
Award points if this is helpful.

  • Publish to Staging and Production from the Authoring server

    Hi,
Is it possible to configure CQ in such a way that, when the user activate a content, it will be publish to the Staging server.
And then the user can trigger a workflow in the same authoring server, and send the content to the production server?
Or is there any other way round?
Basically the user does not want to login into multiple CQ instance.
    Thanks

You would have to implement several things to allow this work:
You need replication agents for all the production publish servers and the staging servers. To simply your life you will probably want to set up your dispatcher agents on your publish and staging servers so you don't have to deal with them during the workflow.
You need to decide how you want the standard activation tools to behave (activate button, activate later, other possible workflows) behave. You have a couple of options:
Have the default activation behaviors publish to both environments
Have the default activation only publish to production publish
Have the default activation only publish to staging
Have the default activation do nothing
Based on that decision above you may have to check the Ignore Default option on the Triggers tab of the replication agents that shouldn't get anything on the standard publish.
Create a workflow process that will publish only to selected publish instances. Most likely this will be a step that only publishes to your Staging server, in which case you need some configuration mechansim which identifies which replication agents are staging agents.

  • Dreamweaver 8 - Test/Production Server Question and Working Remotely

    Hello Everyone,
Right now I use Dreamweaver 8 at work with no problems. My
computer at work is also my test server. I do everything from that
one machine and then upload/put the files to our production server
once I know they are working correctly. So basically my work
computer/server is a mirror of our production server. My question
    is this:
Right now I use either Remote Administrator (Radmin) or
Remote Desktop, when working from home, to connect to my work
computer/test server (same computer). This is kind of slow trying
to move around and edit/develop. Is it possible to use Dreamweaver
8 and WebDAV or RDS to allow me to edit/create the files directly
on my work machine from home and then when I PUT the file have it
go to my production server? So basically nothing changes about how
I do it except that I am doing it remotely. Right now it downloads
the files to my computer and when I PUT them it goes only to my
test server only. I like to it to save the files to my test server
and put the files to my production server.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Maybe I am just not
    setting it up correctly.

This can’t be done as RDS is about working with and
    synchronising to your server.
You may be able to set up two sites (test server and live
server) with the same local root folder depending how you are set
up but at some point you will create synchronisation issues.
My solution is to separate the two processes, all work is
done to the test server. When changes are ready to go live they are
FTP’ed from the test server to the live server using a
separate FTP program and a snap shot of the site is taken and
backed up with the FTP log. Although it seems to be adding to the
workflow it does ensure live changes are conscious changes and
backup (role back ability) is maintained.

  • How to Registered Test Server Reports into Production Server

    Hi,
    Environment:
    Test Server
    OS: Oracle Linux
    Application : R12.1.1
    Production Server
    OS: Oracle Linux
    Application : R12.1.1
    Q) I have registered Customized reports in Oracle Application R12.1.1 test Server.
Can I registered these reports into production Server with the help of FNDLOD or any other procedure?
Q)Without repeating registration steps in Production server.
    Thank you,
    Best Regards,

Use OPENDATASET to opend the file in AS.
Use READ DATASET INTO ITAB to read the data to ITAB presented in AS .
Then use the Function module GUI_DOWNLOAD or WS_DOWNLOAD to down load the data from ITAB to PS.
And you can't do this in background.

  • Can I make another website using iWeb,then publish it to a different server through the SMTP panel on iWeb

Can I make another website using iWeb, and then publish it to a different server through the SMTP panel on iWeb, even though I have a website published on mobile me, can I just use the SMTP engine to publish a different site but to a different server, that's the question I'm asking. I'm hoping for a quick reply. Thank you for your time in reading this.

Yes.  You can do it one of two ways:
1 - select FTP Server in the Publish To menu (click on the site folder to get to the options) and enter the FTP address, username and password and publish as you would if using MMe.
2 - select Publish to Folder and publish. Use a 3rd party FTP client like  Cyberduck to upload the site files to there server using the FTP address, etc.

  • PHP/MySQL Test/Production Server best practices

    Hello,
I am currently learning PHP/MySql and have setup a test server to develop on and a production server to go live with. I wanted to know what are the best practices for synchronizing the test server with the production. Should I export the database from the test server and import it to the production server each time I make a change or is there better way to incrementally sync the databases. I am using Dreamweaver to design the web site.
    Thanks,
    Nick

Thanks, but does this mean that after I go live I should make changes on the production database only and not use the development database, if say I need to add a new table or record(s)?
    Procedure
    1. Take production web site down
    2. Export/Save current database
    3. Make changes to production database
    4. Export/Save new database
    5. Bring production web site up
    Is this correct?

Now my question is daily incremental backup of production server will be restored in testing server (same configuration in production server
and testing server ) how can i achieve this .....
    Regards,

    Hi Oradba,
Thanks for your response. I went through the link and we need this only for testing purpose and not for reporting.
We need to take incremental backup and restore it in testing server. Is it possible to do this without RMAN.(Due to some Business reasons)
