Publish with interactions to YouTube?

Hi,
I have a project with many interactions (smart shape buttons triggering advanced actions, drag-and-drop, glossary widget, Tabs). Publishing to MP4 causes interactions to be lost. Is it possible to publish in a format that can be viewed in YouTube with interactions intact and working?
Thanks,
Bob

AFAIK, YouTube does not support interactive videos.
You can try Camtasia Studio, but you can publish it to Screencast only. I haven't tried it myself, but check this blogpost for more information.

  • My interactive Quiz does not function if I publish in MP4 or YouTube.  I can I fix this?

I have created an interactive quiz in my Captivate presentation but I seem to lose the quiz if I publish in MP4 or YouTube.  Any fixes to this?

    Hi there,
We cannot have interactivity in a video. So, published output in .mp4 will not have interactivity.
We can only upload video formats to youtube, so we cannot have ineractive objects or quiz on Youtube.
To enable interactivity you will have to publish .swf, .pdf or .html, but again we cannot upload these formats on youtube.
    Thanks.

  • Is inDesign the best product for publishing an interactive training manual?

I am building an interactive training manual for a fire department and I need to find out the best way to publish this document for use on an iPad or other tablet.  I will be embedding video, text, and photos, along with stacking photos for the 360 degree view.  So far I have read that there is a 2GB size limitation for articles.  I've also read that there is was way to publish privately if it becomes difficult to download from acrobat.com.  I would like this training manual to be all inclusive without having to break it up into multiple articles.  I would like to embed over 3 hours of video, over 200 photographs, over 260 pages of text, and have interactivity throughout.  Is this out of inDesign's scope?  Is there a way to publish this large of a document to multiple iPads without using the App Store or Android Market?  I'm just starting out so I'm looking forward for any constructive help I can get.

HOW interactive are we talking here? Buttons with rollovers, menus, or the ability to fill in answers like a workbook?
A freelance client of mine wanted to prepare a workbook with "interactivity" and all looked well... until i was told what "interactive" meant. This example was a science workbook for schools which behaved as a facsimile of the normal book which would be filled in by hand, except that answers were not always checkboxes or text. Sometimes answers would be:
    plot a graph
    draw a picture of an amoeba (for example) and label the parts; or draw the diagram of isopropyl alcohol;
    fill in a crossword
join the correct reducing agent to the correct oxidising agent
AFAIK this kind of interactivity isn't possible with the off-the-shelf indesign, and i don't know of any third party software which provides this kind of interactivity. Yes, the author could have been asked to rephrase the questions to fit the limitations of indesign's fill-in forms and interactivity, but the author did not want this.
Also, is tablet-specific software the right platform to use? Perhaps a website with a paywall may be a better form of distribution and construction, allowing a RIA (Rich Internet Application) to be made for the project.

  • Is Acrobat X Pro suitable for publishing an interactive book (as a PDF)?

I am evaluating Acrobat Pro X as a possible vehicle for publishing an interactive reference book (a numismatic catalog).  The Bookmark capability of Acrobat is particularly attractive because the Bookmark panel functions as a very convenient and intuitive interactive nested Table of Contents, and bookmarks embedded in an alphabetic list at the end of the book could serve as an excellent, though labor-intensive, index.  If my master Word document (about 400 MB) already contains a linked Table of Contents and Index, can that interactivity survive conversion into an Adobe PDF file?  If not, and I have to do all that work in Acrobat, can that functionality be saved when it comes time to update the Word master file and publish a subsequent edition?
The desired benefits of publishing electronically include the ability to make corrections and additions as they're discovered and then quickly to publish an updated edition quickly and easily.  (This ebook will be distributed free of charge.)  Is this feasible with Acrobat?
    Thank you.

    Thank you, George and Bill,
Right now, I do not have a single document.  The book currently exists as 70 separate Word and PowerPoint files, whcih can be printed as a single paper book.  What little opportunity I've so far had to play with Portfolios in Acrobat made me think that whatever problems I'll face would be simplified if I were dealing with a single file.  However, I do not want to compress the images any more than absolutely necessary, because numismatists value the ability to enlarge the image of a coin or medal for detailed study right down to individual letters and numbers in the inscription.
Since size will be a potentially significant factor, perhaps debilitating, might it be better to approach this challenge with a portfolio?

  • Bug in which Premiere does not allow publishing of videos to YouTube over 15 minutes.

When I try to publish a video to YouTube over 15 minutes I get this error: "The video duration exceeds the maximum duration supported by the destination.  Please reduce the duration of video and try again."
Clearly YouTube's policies change over time - they allow videos much longer than this.  Shockingly, Premiere does not offer any option to override this limit which obviously should not be set in stone.  Please help.

    SteveNewYork
    No bug.
If you are using Premiere Elements 9, 10, 11, or 12, the upload to YouTube from within the project feature is stated and is
2.00 GB/15 minutes. So no bug. The YouTube dialog in the sharing section of 9, 10, 11, or 12 clearly state that. Now, if you have a version earlier than 9, you will run into limits of 2048.0 MB (aka 2 GB) and only 10 minutes. Those earlier versions were never updated to 15 minutes when Adobe extended the time for its YouTube feature from10 to 15 minutes going from version 8 to 9.
The YouTube limits for its upload at its site are governed by YouTube and not Adobe. In fact, I have been told that you can get extended upload times there with special accounts. I do not believe that YouTube has changed its basic time 15 minutes. Rather is offering "regular" 15 minutes  as well as an extended time for those who request it. See link at the end of the next paragraph.
If you have a Premiere Elements Timeline content that is greater than 2.0 GB/15 minutes, then your ONLY choice is to export that Timeline content to a file saved to your computer hard drive and then upload that file to YouTube at the YouTube web site after you make whatever arrangements so that you do not end up with just 15 minutes there. If you have not seen the following already, the following is YouTube information found online on getting more time for larger uploads
    https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/4523193?hl=en&rd=1
If you need help deciding on the settings for exporting a file saved to your hard drive for upload to YouTube at the YouTube web site, I would be glad to offer suggestions based on the properties of your Premiere Elements Timeline. More specific information will be offered once we know that information and what version of Premiere Elements you are using and on what computer operating system the program is running.
We are not Adobe. Just user to user. If you want to call this matter to Adobe's attention, you might be interested in filing an Adobe Feature/ Request Bug Report Form.

This error is thrown when there is no valid response.
    Possible errors include:

Sync Service Timeout set and Service actually timed out.
Java exception thrown - Check Application Server for possible Java exception

Do you have integration configured between the two systems?  It sounds like you don't from the error.  Here is a walk-through on setting up Unified Navigation although it assumes you have integration already working.  If you haven't done that, it's documented a hundred different places.

  • How to use SAP Business Workflow along with Interactive Adobe Form

    Hi Experts,
I am working on SAP Business Workflow since last couple of years.
Now i have got a new Project where client wants to use SAP Business Workflow along with Interactive Adobe Form.
I am new to Interactive Adobe Form and Portal thing and i really dont know from where to start.
We have one central system and 2 local systems. when we do create a Material document using adobe form workflow should trigger and notification should go to group of users who can approve or reject it, once they approve it document gets created in central system and replicated to 2 local system through ALE.
In the Local system they do extend the document to different plants, again workflow triggers and notification will go to Managers inbox for the approval.
Once the final approval done data should go and store in SAP.
Now here i have couple of Questions.
    1. In SAP R3 Business workflow when i execute the workitem from the inbox i do get the application screen ( i.e. MM01 MRP View ) , what is going to happen if the same case i have with Adobe form?? is it possible or do we have to design a adobe form and we will have to map the fields with backend application??
    2. Do i have to maintained 3 separate Org Structure for 3 different system or using UWL  i can manage the show
    3. Untill final submit is not done, where the application data is going to be, is there any kind of buffer that we will have to keep it or its there with XML file??
    Please help me out.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Manoj

    Hi Manoj,
Welcome to ADOBE Forms related Workflow Development. Well, here are my answers.
    1) You can go for either go for ISR based development or WD development with Adobe form. In both the cases you can achieve your requirement. Yes, you will have to design the Adobe form and bind the fields to backend.
    2) Am not clear or your System landscape to advice you in these regards.
    3) Until final Submit/Approval is done, the data can be stored in WORKFLOW CONTAINERS or XML FORM(If you go for ISR based Development).
    Hope this helps.

  • [announce] PortalStudio 2.0 with Interaction Management

MONGOOSE TECHNOLOGY ANNOUNCES PORTALSTUDIO 2.0 WITH INTERACTION MANAGEMENT
Vendor-neutral portal platform now includes RealCommunities 2.0
collaboration applications and Interaction Management Web services
Houston, October 22, 2001 - Mongoose Technology, Inc., the company that set
the benchmark for Portal Lifecycle Management and the first company to
deliver a complete J2EET-based portal design, assembly, deployment, and
management solution, today announced Mongoose PortalStudioT 2.0. The
product, which provides an integrated development environment and portal
platform, now includes Mongoose RealCommunitiesT applications and
Interaction Management web services for online collaboration. Using Mongoose
PortalStudio and Mongoose RealCommunities, companies can incorporate
Interaction Management into their portals and Web sites to increase employee
productivity, enhance partner effectiveness, and build customer loyalty.
Delphi Group has defined Interaction Management: "Interaction management
refers to web applications used to cultivate relationships among portal
constituents. These person-to-person web services facilitate group
formation, enhance team collaboration, and empower knowledge exchange
between employees, customers, partners, and suppliers. Interaction
Management helps organizations capture and retain intellectual capital,
reduce employee turnover, increase team productivity, and build customer
    loyalty."
"Interaction Management is a critical component of any portal strategy, and
necessary for effectively nurturing online community and user
relationships," says Nathaniel Palmer, Chief Analyst at Delphi Group. "In
PortalStudio, Mongoose provides the first comprehensive set of web services
for interaction management, within a application framework specifically
designed for deploying and managing portal components."
"We provide enterprise applications to the health care industry and
international retailers" said Brian Fox, Vice President of
MySoftwarePartner. "Our customers must provide timely and accurate
information to consumers and to government agencies. We are using Mongoose
PortalStudio to provide more useful information by aggregating our systems
with other corporate applications in the Enterprise Portal. We are
incorporating RealCommunities collaboration applications to improve customer
support and to reduce the cost of gathering and reporting consumer data. "
    PortalStudio with Interaction Management
RealCommunities collaboration applications are modular WebComponentsT of the
PortalStudio platform that can be embedded into any Web site or portal. They
are supported by RealCommunities Web Services that provide open API's to
gather, store, and act upon person and activity related data.
"Interaction Management is the set of person-to-person web services that
support online relationships and transactions," says Mr. Palmer. The
RealCommunities Web Services are based on the Mongoose 12 Principles of
CollaborationT, and include Identity, Groups, Reputation, Environment and
    Communication.
RealCommunities WebComponents provide structured interactions to support
group goals. These collaboration capabilities can be incorporated into new
or existing portals and Web sites. RealCommunities WebComponents include:
Expertise & Skills Directory - This application facilitates the search
for a person or a group with the expertise, skills, service capability, or
    reputation matching the user's needs.
Engagement & Feedback - After identifying an appropriate individual or
group, the application allows the user to negotiate an agreement for a
consultative or service relationship with the provider and subsequently to
rate the quality and usefulness of the provider's services.
Messages & Chat - These WebComponents provide Message Boards, Chat, and
    Instant Messaging
    Question & Answer - This post-a-question and get-an-answer mechanism
can be a public or private dialog and is used for self-help and support
    applications.
File Sharing & Collaboration - Users can access content from WebDAV
(Web-based distributed authoring and versioning) clients and DAV-enabled
software packages such as Mongoose PortalStudioT, Microsoft® Office XP,
Microsoft® Web Folders, Adobe Acrobat®, and Macromedia Dreamweaver®. Thus a
Word® user can directly open documents that are stored in PortalStudio-based
    portals.
Review & Recommend - This facility enables community members to provide
opinions and ratings, look at what others are saying, and view a composite
score of any participant or document.
Rewards & Incentives - Reward employees, partners, or customers who
participate in desired online activities. The application can be configured
to promote loyalty by providing incentives and rewards for desired
behaviors. The rules are easy to configure and change as business needs
    evolve.
Tests & Polls - This utility enables a service provider or group leader
to ask questions of a population. Rules can be applied to responses to
generate scoring reports or individualized actions, e.g., if pass test, then
update reputation and deliver certification by email.
Companies can enhance their ebusiness effectiveness with Mongoose
RealCommunitiesT Interaction Management applications for increasing
productivity of sales teams, cultivating buyer and partner loyalty,
capturing better market data, and accelerating innovation and time to
    market.
    PortalStudio 2.0 Delivers Fast Results
Mongoose PortalStudio 2.0 is a visual portal assembly environment that
allows users to quickly and easily design portal components, assemble them
into a portal, then validate and deploy their portal solution to, for
example, BEA WebLogic. The simplicity of PortalStudio 2.0's one-click wizard
for configuring and deploying to environments such as BEA WebLogic is
dramatic. Like a "portal compiler," the PortalStudio one-click wizard
eliminates timely editing of complex J2EE and BEA specific configuration
    files.
Other powerful features and capabilities in PortalStudio 2.0 include:
    Instant WebSkinT Personalization
The presentation of information can be customized to the individual or
company standards using Mongoose WebSkins. Users can pick an existing
WebSkin from the PortalStudio library and re-brand their Web application or
apply a custom look-and-feel in seconds. With PortalStudio's
"person-to-system" Web services, XML-based content can be aggregated,
categorized, searched, and cached, served up to various display devices, and
personalized depending on browser, browser version, user, role, locale,
display device, language, and custom rules. Altogether, users can build an
application once, access it from many convenient devices, and be greeted by
    a personal presentation.
    Aggregate Corporate Applications
Corporate applications and databases can be aggregated into the portal with
Mongoose PortalStudio's "system-to-system" Web services for aggregation,
mapping & merging, caching, scheduled queries, and Rules and Alarms.
Mongoose PortalStudio includes WebConnectors for XML, JDBC, JCA, and MS
    Exchange.
    Enhance Existing Applications
Mongoose's "federated" approach means users can use Mongoose's PortalStudio
to create a portal from scratch and deploy it on a J2EE application server
from any of the leading vendors; maintain and enhance existing portal
applications; or embed Mongoose WebComponents into an existing Web
application. WebComponents included with PortalStudio include Table, Tree,
News, Document Sharing, Document Search, Message Boards, Chat, Instant
Messaging, email, and a MiniBrowser with source code.
    Availability and Pricing
Mongoose PortalStudio for BEA WebLogic and Mongoose PortalStudio 2.0
Enterprise Edition are currently available and 30-day free trials are

  • Extend SAP R/3 4.x with Interactive PDF Forms

    Hi there,
In this blog of Matthias Zeller <a href="http:///people/matthias.zeller2/blog/2004/06/22/the-hidden-secret-of-adobe-reader hidden secret of Adobe Reader</a> there is the following paragraph:
<i>While mySAP ERP 2004 provides many business scenarios using Interactive Forms out-of-the-box, a lot of customers have asked me how they can use the new Interactive Forms with existing R/3 applications. Therefore, I would like to encourage you to vote for my SAP TechEd presentation proposal ("Extend your SAP R/3 4.x applications with interactive PDF forms"). I plan to discuss how you can connect your existing SAP R/3 applications with SAP Web AS 6.40 to enable interactive form workflows.</i>
Can somebody tell me if this presentation is somewhere on SDN? Or can somebody tell me where i can find more information about this subject?
    Thx in advance.
    Regards Maarten.

    Hi Maarten,
Here's a brief run-down on how you could make use of SAP/Adobe Interactive Forms and Workflow:
    1) Remember that a form is really just a UI for collecting data.  A PDF form can be used to collect data online (connected to your SAP system) or offline, e.g. you could send it as a mail attachment, fill it in, and email it to a central point for uploading into the system.
    2) The main requirements for using SAP Interactive Forms are:
    a) A NW04 (6.40) or NW04s (7.00) WebAs (Java Stack) to run Adobe Document Services. This is the critical component that assigns ReaderRights to the document, e.g. so that the user can change the data and save it on the document.   You could run a WebAs like this alongside your R/3 4.7 - e.g. if you have an XI system or Enterprise Portal you could use that system to run Adobe Document Services.  Every form you create must be generated via the Adobe Document Services to get the Reader Rights. Note: Get a NW04s environment if you can - as this release has usefuul new features such as loading attachments to the PDF, using digital signatures, etc.
    b) A WebDynpro application to generate the Adobe form via Adobe Document Services, and to execute the Adobe Form when using online mode, and to upload offline forms.  Tutorials on how to do this are available in SDN - have a look at the Adobe section within WebDynpro. Note: From ECC 5.0 there are some standard WebDynpros apps provided, but in R/3 4.7 you will need to write your own.
    c) There's also a licensing requirement for any production custom forms (SAP provided forms and cosmetic changes to those forms are free) so make sure you get your SAP account manager involved to help sort out how your intended usage will fit in with your current license agreement and any discounts that may apply.
    3) To use the "form" with workflow has some additional requirements:
    a) You need to store the data entered via the form somewhere that is accessible by Workflow.  The easiest approach here is to use the standard form handling technique Internet Service Requests.  Transaction QISRSCENARIO will let you define all of the form fields, give you BADIs for doing validation, raising workflow events, etc.  Also from ECC 5.0 onwards using Adobe forms as the form entry is a standard option for this technique, so this will help reduce the upgrade impact when you eventually do upgrade.
    b) Assuming you use ISRs, have your WebDynpro App call the function module ISR_PROCESS_EVENT to pass the data to R/3 and do the validation checks.
    c) Assuming you use ISRs, you use the BOR object for notification such as BUS2078, as your main object for the workflow.  The form data is attached to the notification and can be retrieved using function module ISR_SPECIAL_DATA_GET.
    d) If you want to call your WebDynpro App from SBWP (I take you don't have Enterprise Portal?) then use transaction WF_EXTSRV to define the web service to call your WebDynpro app and generate a workflow task for it.  Also you must configure transaction WF_HANDCUST to enable R/3 to handle web services.  Note: If you do have the Enterprise Portal, you can use transaction SWFVISU instead.
I'd strongly recommend you read the ISR cookbook at http://service.sap.com/isr as well.   ISRs aren't the only way to use Adobe forms with R/3 but they are extremely handy if you want to use your Adobe form with Workflow.
As for Lotus Notes, you can use your WebDynpro app to generate and send/receive a form to/from an email address.  You can also put a hyperlink in your workflow task to call your WebDynpro app and use RSWUWFML2 (swap to Enhanced Notifications when you upgrade) to send out a mail with the hyperlink attached as per usual.
You'll also find some useful threads on Adobe forms and Workflow in the SDN BPM Forum.  So if you have workflow specific questions try raising them in the BPM forum.
    Enjoy!
    Regards,
    Jocelyn

    Hello,
I have installed and configured OBI Answers and Publisher in a Linux infrastructure and configured thro' Websphere/IHS. Answers/Dashboards is working fine. I am trying to integrate BI publisher with OBI answers/dashboards. This is working fine through OC4J but when I try to integrate through Websphere, I get a crypto error.
I have to deployed a plug-in in web server and tried to integrate BI publisher with presentation services through "cryptotools" and configuring it through instance config. When I hit http://myserver:port/xmlpserver I get "Error 500: com.phaos.crypto.CipherException ". Similarly when I select more products/BI Publisher through OBI Dashboards/Answers, I get the following

  • Auto layout with interactives - please help

    Hi,
I have many Word documents with a 100 pages each. The word documents contains the text for the manual only, and now I'm converting it to PDF file.
How can I set a on the header and the footer of the documents (of all pages) buttons and links that will work after I add them.
I tried creating the buttons layout in a separate PDF, and append it as background. When I append it, it looks excellent, but the interactive (links and buttons) are not working.
I have no deep experience with Acrobat, and I need assistance for a noobe.
If a background page eliminates the links, is there a way to append it in another way (I don't want to do it manually 500 times)?
The header and footer feature allows me to place only simple text, and I need to place a graphic block with interactive.

You'll need to use the Button tool located under the Content panel in Acrobat X to do this. Once you've created your button, then you can use the context-sensitive menu to duplicate it across all your pages.
