Publisher Stalls during page navigation

I'm experiencing an unusual problem with my BI Publisher 11g instance. Sometimes it will take a page a lengthy amount of time to load or even respond. I have check the logs and do not see anything unusual. I'll be happy to provide additional details if needed.

Use Firefox instead and see if the behaviour is the same.

Problem arise during Page Navigation

Hi,
I ve created 2 different views for same table.., one is created with bind variable,
Then I placed a default view in one page,
Edited view in another page,
In a xml.., I linked those page via that bind variable paramater,
When I click a link from 1st page., it should directs me the 2nd page based on that id(Link).
But I'm getting an following error..!
Pls kindly help me to resolve it.

IWeb Page Navigational Links not working with Internet Explorer 7

I'm hoping someone can help me out here? My wife created her 1st website using iWeb. I am testing the sites functionality before we publish it. All the pages and links work fine on Firefox and Safari for windows. However, the page navigational links are not working on Internet Explorer 7. All I see is a dot to the left side of where the page links should be. When I start the site in IE7 I get an Active X script warning and I am asked if I want to allow the script to run; to which I reply yes. After I allow the Active X script the dot to the left side of where the page links should be disappears, but the links do not appear.
Is there anyway to resolve this? Most of the members of her club have Windows based PCs and are using IE7.

Yes, Javascript is running on IE7 and other java script applets appear to be working with the exception of the Navbar script.
It would be great if my wife's friends used a "real" browser, unfortunately 70% of the people on the web use IE7, so this is a real concern if we can't get this to work. I'v seen other iWeb site on IE7 that seem to function fine, so I'm not sure what the issue is here.

Page Navigation Portlet issue

I am having an issue with a page navigation portlet. I am using adaptive tags and we have actually implemented one custom tag that outputs the current page id.
I will paste the code here. The issue is that in our portal the pages don't show up in the order we have set in community editor. They are showing up ordered by page id.
This is being done on 6.0 sp1.

That is most peculiar because we are doing a nearly identical page navigation portlet and we have the ability to shuffle the pages via the community object.
Are you using your code in publisher or in a custom portlet?

Page Navigation portlet - 3.0.9

I want to create a page navigation portlet in 3.0.9, similar to that in 9.0.2.
How can this be done? I want the portlet to navigate between pages and sub pages and I do not want to use the nasty default navigation link that appears on sub-pages in 3.0.9.
I've looked at the wwpob_page$ table directly. This contains the hierarchy. WWSEC_SYS_PRIV$ contain the privilege info.
However, I need to be able to define the current page so that the SQL can identify what to display in the portlet.
How can you do this?

You can get the page url in the additional plsql code section. You can just try printing htp.p(p_page_url) after publishing the component on a page.

I'm evaluating Web Page Composer (WPC) for a customer and one of the requirements is time-based publishing for web pages and navigation, but I cant find any information on that subject.
Do you know if its possible to set up time-based publishing for WPC pages?

CrystalReportViewer page navigation re-hash

Hi Everyone,
I've been searching for a solution to the widely discussed page navigation problem when you place all your report binding code in Page_Load(). Lots of references are to older versions of VS and CR so they don't quite fit. I am running VS2008 and CR2008. Here's what I've done so far.
Added an OnInit parameter to point to my initialization routine:

Moved my report binding code from Page_Load to InitMyReport(). The issue I am having is that the paramaters that are being passed via the URL (and fetched via request.querystring("id1")) are not available during the initialization phase so I can't set them.
Where did I run astray?

OK - I figured this out.
First I took all of the report setup code (parameter and selection formula assignment) and put it into its own subroutine called ReportSetup(). This is called only once from page_load as I am checking for postback.
Next I added a new subroutine called ReportNavigate() to fire when the viewer navigate event is triggered. This simply calles ReportSetup() which rebinds the report correctly.
Simple solution.

How i can check whether a component is being placed or it's being rendered during page load...

I have a piece of code which needs to be triggered only when the component gets rendered.. and at the same time it shouldn't get trigerred when author places it in the page...
For an example, Consider i have a component called samplecomponent. Also i have a piece of code in samplecomponent.jsp which should get triggered only when the component is being rendered during page load and if author places that component in the page (ofcourse the samplecomponent.jsp will get triggered but my particular piece of code should not get triggered.. Is there any condition to check that..?

I think this is very straight forward and you can set this condition based on any of the property of your component via check null/empty condition because when you will drop your component the properties of your component will be not initialized and you can check for at (let say you have a property which is mandetory so to instantiate that component you have to have at least that property)
And let say if above option doesn't work for you then there is one more option of checking the edit mode of the page and based on that you can differ your code. But edit mode code will not work until you will see the page in edit mode, the code will only work when you switch to preview mode (publish mode) of page from edit mode (from sidekick at bottom you have option to go to edit and preview mode).

Page navigation in Acrobat does not match page numbers in the document

I have a document in both Framemaker format (server.book) and PDF (server.pdf). When I view the pdf file in Adobe Acrobat, the page numbers appear correctly on the document itself, but up in the Page Navigation window within Acrobat the pages number doesn't match.
In the beginning of the book I have Title page, a Table of Contents, and a Preface that all use lower-case roman numerals. However, when viewing this document via Acrobat, the Title pages show up as i, and ii, but then the Table of Contents and Preface show up as pages 1 - 8 instead of iii - x in the page navigation window.
I can't figure where this discrepancy is originating.
Please help.

Acrobat has no way to know which bit of character string on each page is the page number.
The visible page number has never formed any part of Reader nav. as you point out, it couldn't.
Acrobat knows the Numbering Properties of the pages as created in Frame. It just doesn't display or honor them consistently, depending on Reader version.
I also use i, ii, iii, iv for pre-narrative material. The romans are displayed in the page number box of Acroread (this is AR7 on Unix). I can enter "ii" in the box, and go to that page. But the Print dialog is Ordinal only. Printing page ranges in AR7 is always off by 2 or 4 relative to the actual page numbers.
Acrobat Pro 9 (9.4.5, Win7-64) seems to be more consistent, and does show and accept real page numbers for Print.

Print, Export and Page Navigation Buttons in the Report

When I view a report through CR4E, the generated report has 3 buttons namely Print, Export and Page Navigation buttons. But when I click on either of the buttons I get a 'null pointer exception'. This is a critical error as I am unable to navigate past the first page. Do I have to add code to these buttons? If not, why am I getting an error? Kindly solve my problem as soon as possible.

Looking at your code it appears that you are storing the ReportSource in session prior to passing in the ResultSet. This will create a problem when a postback is made on the viewer page (which all of the viewer actions do). If you look at the sample code which is generated when you use the JSP Page Wizard you will notice that the ResultSet is passed to the ReportClientDocument object prior to it being stored in session. Then, when the page is called again this object is retrieved and the ReportSource is used by the viewer. You can quickly run the test using one of our sample reports to see what I am talking about. IWeb Publishes the Wrong Page

I added a Pinterest address to my iWeb page, then needed to change the Pinterest user name. But when I tried to edit, even delete the Pinterest widget and change it from an HTML snippet to a text box with hyperlink, then saved and republished, it keeps publishing the old page. I can't get the incorrect Pinterest button off my site! Thanks for any suggestions.

Create a new page and copy over everything but the widget. Then delete the original page.

How can I publish just one page at a time?

I switched to a new computer, so I moved the domain file. When I open iWeb, all the pages are there. I made one small change, and only want to update the one page, but since it's on a new computer, all the pages are red and I can't publish just one page - every time I try, iWeb tries to publish all the pages, and it errors out every time. Can anyone tell me how to make it publish just one page at time in spite of the fact that all the pages in the sidebar are red? The only reason I can think for the error message is that there's too much content to do it all at once.

Yes. If you are uploading to a server and not MobileMe, then just select the option publish to a local folder.
When you have done this, then use Cyberduck or Transmit and upload just the one page from your site folder to your server, plus it's resultant file. So if you just want to upload a Welcome page for example, use Cyberduck to upload just the Welcome.html page and the Welcome files to your server and into your root folder on your server, which would be either a public_html folder, a www or htdocs folder.

Strange Error During Page Load in Debug Mode (only) - Please Help!

Need help with how to troubleshoot a Critical problem. The following error only occurs during page load in "Debug" mode. And, only occurs on a specific page within the application. All,
It appears that the page Javascript maximum limit size was reached. The error stopped appearing after some of the page Javascript code was removed out to Application Static Files. I wonder if there exists any "direct" indicator by the system whenever the size limit has been reached?
Again, the run error only occurred when the page was loaded in "Debug" mode.

My Apple TV stalled during an update and now just shows an image of it being plugged into a USB. It won't complete the update and does nothing when I plug it into my Mac via USB.

2 Apple TVs. The first won't reboot, it stalled during an update and now shows a picture of a UBS plug. Ive tried to plug into my computer, nothing happens. At a standtill.
The second Apple TV works but only if I send something via Airplay. The remote no longer has any affect. The light on the front of the Apple TV blinks when I push a buttom on the remote but nothing happens.
Any Ideas? I am starting to think I need to replace them. Thanks.

Ok, with itunes open on the pc, plug one end of the usb cord into the computer, but not connected to the ipad.
now, press the power button on the ipad until it turns off.
Then, press and hold the home button on the ipad at the same you plug the usb cord into the ipad. DON'T LET GO OF THE HOME BUTTON.
Keep holding the home button until you see the recovery mode message pop on the itunes window.
When that happens, you should now be able to restore.

My apple tv stalls during playback. How can I fix this?

My Apple TV stalls during playback. I am hooked up through ethernet so I'm certain that it is not a network issue. What happens is that after a few minutes of normal playback the movie that I'm watching simply stalls. It looks like AppleTV is trying to reboot it. if I rewind it briefly and restart the movie by pushing play it seems to be fine. But it it stalls again after a few minutes. I have to do this very often and it becomes quite distracting when you're trying to watch a show.
One thing I have noticed is that if I pause the program before it stalls and leave it for about 15 minutes I can watch a large portion of the show uninterrupted.
The files are in my iTunes library. I don't seem to have this issue if I'm playing the files from my iPad via AirPlay. I have restarted, reset, and rebooted AppleTV several times and it still keeps doing it. Any suggestions out there?

Also please confirm whether or not the source material was widescreen and it is 4:3 aspect you wish to correct at this point. If not, then please state the height at which the transcoded file was encoded and the target aspect ratio at which you want files to play in all media players.
Once compressed it plays back in Windows Media Player as 16:9 video.
When played back with Quicktime it is squished into a 4:3 format.
Different players dispay content aspect differently.
Why is this happening and how can I fix it?
QT 7, for instance, displays the file using specific Scale dimensions and if these dimensions are not equivalent to PAR/anamorphic playback settings, then the file can display differently in differently media players. As to fixing the problem, that depends on which setting you are trying to fix and what platform/software is available.
