Publishing in Adobe Air Marketplace
Hello everyone,
I posted an offering on Air Marketplace and 24 days later it's still showing as "Approved Pending" and not appearing in searches.
Sent 2 emails to [email protected] - no answer.
I'm puzzled at this lack of feedback.
Has anyone here had experience in this area?
Thanks in advance
Andy
Sometimes I wonder if there is anyone at Adobe who reads these posts or gives a ****.
I realize you guys are busy making great products for us, but what about a little feedback??
After all we're trying to write code using YOUR platform which I assume you're interested in promoting.
So a little attention would not be bad for business, don't you think?
My submission has been f;apping in the wind in "approved pending" state and not available for searches, for 27 days now.
Nobody responds to my emails. Nobody responds to my posts.
What am I supposed to do ? Declare that you guys suck and switch to Java??

Flash Professional Help | Publishing for Adobe AIR for desktop
This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash/using/publishing-adobe-air-desktop.html
This page is extremely helpful. Thank you!
With the help of this page, I've managed to figure out how to do most of what I need to do, however, I'm having troubles creating a Mac and Linux installer for my application. So far, I have only been able to create a Windows installer (.exe). In the "general" tab, the only options I have in "output as" are "AIR package", "Windows Installer" and "Application with runtime embedded".
I am using Adobe Flash Professional CS 6 and am using a Windows 7 computer.
Thanks in advance. -
Suggestion regarding listing of apps in Adobe Air Marketplace
I think it would be helpful to folks concerned with security
if you included a tab listing those apps who had approved security
certificates. That would also motivate those developers who don't
have certificates to get them.Sometimes I wonder if there is anyone at Adobe who reads these posts or gives a ****.

How much is Shibuya's (Adobe Air Marketplace Paying service) transaction fee?
I am trying to figure out how much does it cost developers to accept payment when using the new Shibuya payment system. I can only find FAQ for buyers but not for sellers.
+1 on this question.
Also, could Shibuya be used for copy protection and sales for WindowSWF Flash extensions? -

Anyone knows why is doing that?
Thanks,
Nunoanother workaround here from some other thread::
import flash.text.TextFormat;
import flash.text.TextField;
import flash.events.FocusEvent;
var tf: TextField = myText as TextField;
tf.addEventListener(FocusEvent.FOCUS_IN, onFocusIn);
tf.addEventListener(FocusEvent.FOCUS_OUT, onFocusOut);
tf.addEventListener(FocusEvent.MOUSE_FOCUS_CHANGE, onFocusOut);
function onFocusIn(e: FocusEvent) {
var myFormat:TextFormat = myText.getTextFormat();
myFormat.size = 6;
myText.defaultTextFormat = myFormat;
myText.setTextFormat(myFormat);
function onFocusOut(e: FocusEvent) {
var myFormat:TextFormat = myText.getTextFormat();
myFormat.size = 14;
myText.defaultTextFormat = myFormat;
myText.setTextFormat(myFormat);}
I set the textsize smaller than normal, and restore the size when it lost focus. -
RoboHelp Packager for Adobe AIR is GM
RoboHelp Packager for Adobe AIR is GM now and you can

Adobe AIR runtime enables applications to deliver both the
benefits of server connectivity and the compelling end user
experience of a desktop application. With a seamless offline-
online experience, end-users of Adobe AIR applications can continue
to work when they are temporarily offline. RoboHelp Packager for
Adobe AIR now enables you to publish in Adobe AIR format. Neither
of the popular help output options - CHM or WebHelp or WebHelp on a
Server provide the array of features as RoboHelp Packager for Adobe
AIR does today. That said, in my opinion, RoboHelp Packager for
Adobe AIR is a beginning, beginning of a new revolution in help
authoring. Here is a list of what you get today
· Auto Update - Adobe AIR applications that can update
themselves when online connection is available and that can work
perfectly when desktop is offline. For example, Adobe AIR help file
created with RoboHelp Packager for Adobe AIR will prompt the
end-users when an update is available. With a single click, the
help file will update itself.
· Get Web 2.0 features - Adobe AIR applications can
store information locally – for example, when you add
comments to Online Help, they are stored locally and can be viewed
after you have closed the application. End users can also comment
on external pages and store the comments as part of help file.
Comments are still available when Online Help has been updated
(provided file names don’t change) or when you are offline.
· Extensibility - Unlike HTML Help which depends on the
CHM viewer, the functionality of the Adobe AIR is extensible and
customizable. For example, organizations can add branding
information to Adobe AIR help file, including icons for help file,
branding imagery on the top of the help file and so on.
· Multiple tab – never before end user experience
- Adobe AIR help file also allows you to open multiple tabs within
the tri-pane enabling multiple help topics and threads to be
navigated at the same time.
· Integrated interface to everything your end users need
- You can also add resource links to your help files –
enabling a single access point for product pages, user forums,
knowledge base, online help and external web pages.
· Multiple templates to choose from - Organizations get
to chose from several of the templates and can select a particular
skin or theme for each of these templates. With RoboHelp Packager
for Adobe AIR, there are three templates come out of the box -
Multi-Tab Accordion, Unipane and Classic Help.
· End user preferences - RoboHelp Packager for Adobe AIR
enables the help users to customize their help by selecting their
preferences (something they can’t do for a CHM or for WebHelp
output – which is not hosted on a Server).
· Cross Platform - Adobe AIR is cross-platform and
cross-browser, supported on Windows, Mac and Linux (currently in
pre-release).
Needless to say, Adobe AIR has attracted a lot of interest
among the help community and some of the experts believe that
within two years, Adobe AIR will be the preferred help format for
40% of all help authors.
If you have not tried it, you can download it now from

http://blogs.adobe.com/techcomm/When you are comparing this to Flash, does this comparison
extend to the requirement for each end user to install the Air

Adobe air distribution problem. (AJax / html)
Hi guys,
I have written a sample application in javascript (ajax) and xhtml and successfully published with adobe air. The system works fine but my question is when i distribute the application (.air) I had to include all my javascript , images, xhtml. I dont have any problem in sending the images with .air package but sending javascript files is imposible that is be because, since im using ajax to show all the details I have to use full URL for all my ajax calls.
so someone who knows about abobe air can use those same URL`s and create their own air application and steal my details from my server. (adobe air allow cross scripting)
As a solution I have seen many applications (ex: ebay desktop) uses flash logins and check the login using flash and redirect user to a seperate page if the login is successful. so in this case i only need to package my .swf file since redirection will handdle from the flash end.
Im not a flash developer so I wont be able to create the whole application using flash. thats why im looking for a javascript / html solution to overcome this problem.
so my questions are,
1. Is there any way i can publish my .air application without packaging js files?
2. Is there is a posibility which i can use a flash login and if the login success open up a new window with the actual application and close the login window? and while logging off viseversa
I hope you guys undestand my questions and any help highly appreciate it.
Thanks in advanced,
Best regards,
niroshanThere isn't any way to distribute an HTML/JS AIR application without the HTML/JavaScript source files. Because JavaScript is a run-time interpreted language, the HTML and JavaScript code has to be available at run time. The obvious downside to this is that the source code of your application is available in plain text on the users' hard drive.
If your main concern is protecting data stored on the server from malicious users, the username/password strategy is probably a good one (and you wouldn't need to implement in using Flash at all -- you could do the same thing in HTML/JS.). What you need to do is:
Set up your web server so that the user has to be authenticated with the web server in order to get any data or perform any of the calls (from ajax or anywhere else).
When your app first starts or at some point, have a login form where the user enters their username/password for your serve. When you make the ajax calls to the server pass the username/password along (or use a session cookie, or some other similar technique for maintaining authentication).
That way, even if an attacker knows the url of your server calls, they can't actually use them unless they have an account with you.
From a practical standpoint, you should protect your server by requiring authentication in any case. Otherwise your only security defense is the fact that an attacker doesn't know your exact url. But there are ways to learn urls (for example, by monitoring network traffic) that make it so it isn't too hard for someone to discover the urls even without your app's source code. -
Flash CC 2014 publishing Adobe AIR 17 - use captive or shared runtime?
I developed an app using Flash CC 2014, In IOS I had to upgrade to the builder and I got the function to work, but now I have the same app and need to develop for Android. I created a separate fla and did the following
Used Android 17.0.0.96
added the general info
created the p12 now I have the option to choose captive or shared runtime. I get warnings about each when I publish so I have to publish this app to GooglePlay and need to know the procedure as I'm on a Mac and I see procedures involving code when doing this on a windows machine.
Can someone help me out here?
RI would recommend to use "Captive".
Difference is pretty simple...
Shared Basically means that it compiles the "apk" without the Adobe AIR runtime, resulting in a smaller file size apk but REQUIRES users to have the "Adobe AIR App" installed.
Captive means that it compiles the "apk" with the Adobe AIR runtime, resulting in a larger file size apk but DOES NOT REQUIRE users to have the "Adobe AIR App" installed.
If you want to Guarantee everyone can run your app, use captive. If you want to rely on users to hope the have the correct version of AIR installed to view your app, use Shared. -
Adobe AIR stream publish breaks on iOS devices
Hi All
I am using Adobe Air 13.0 to upload a streaming video to Flash Media Server.
This works fine on all Android devices, but on iOS devices (both iPad and iPhone) the publish stream breaks after several time (could be 10 seconds, could be 5 minutes).
Here are my relevant code segments:
private function CreateConnection():void
netconn = new NetConnection();
netconn.client = this;
netconn.objectEncoding = flash.net.ObjectEncoding.AMF3;
netconn.connect(rtmpPath);
netconn.addEventListener("netStatus", netConnection_eventHandler);
netStream = new NetStream(netconn, NetStream.CONNECT_TO_FMS);
metaSniffer=new Object();
netStream.client=metaSniffer;
metaSniffer.onMetaData=getMeta;
netStream.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS,netConnection_eventHandler);
netStream.attachCamera(cam);
netStream.attachAudio(mic);
netStream.publish(InterviewID, "record");

Adobe AIR app running fine on Adobe Flash CC but crashes when published
Hi,
I am developing an app for Adobe AIR. The app works fine when I compile it on Adobe Flash CC when I run it through the ADL. When I publish the app for Desktop and run it, I get the following error:
VerifyError: Error #1014: Class flash.filesystem::File could not be found.
This is strange, because it seems that actually, when I run the app outside Adobe Flash, the app is run through Flash Player.
Any ideas?
Thanks!Is the Intel your only graphics adapter, or are you running an ATI or nVidia card as well?

MergedProjects dont appear in Adobe Air Browser Based TOC when published to a server
MergedProjects dont appear in Adobe Air Browser Based Help when published to a server - its works fine on my local machine. The topics are there on the server as they appear in the Search, but the do not appear in the TOC.
I have looked at another similar thread to this on the forum but there doesn't seem to be any resolution as yet?
I am publishing to local machine and then uploading to the server.
ThanksJust to confirm - these files have indeed fixed the merged TOC display problem.
Thanks Peter. -

TC Publisher ID for Adobe AIR - easier signing certificate?
I'm was about to go through the burning hoop that is the
signing certificate, when I found a link to Chosen Security's
TC Publisher ID for Adobe AIR. I'm having a hard time finding
any info on it other than their press release though.
Has anyone obtained one of these? Its it easier than a thawte
signing certificate?
What documents are required?I just purchased a TC Publisher ID certificate and am a little stumped in getting AIR to publish with it.
The TrustCenter marketing site's only instructional material for this product, as far as I can tell, is a link to the Adobe docs on using certificates: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AIR/1.5/devappsflex/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d118666ade46-7ff0. html
There's a little more info in this dev article, but not much: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/articles/signing_air_applications_03.html
Both these resources focus on Thawte certificates as a use case, and don't mention what to do if you're using OS X and a TC Publisher ID.
In my own experience, I downloaded the cert directly to my downloads folder from the TrustCenter site. The certificate was instantly picked up by the OS X keychain. I used the Keychain Access app to export a .p12 certificate file from the keychain for use in publishing the AIR app, but I get an "Error creating AIR file: unable to build a valid certificate chain for the signer" when trying to publish with Flex Builder. Without any docs to turn to, I'm stumped.
For people more experienced with keys and certificates this operation might be a no-brainer, but for somebody who is just getting into this there's not much support for the purchase-to-publish process.

Digital publishing with CS5 vs adobe air
i went to an indd user group meeting in nyc last night and the subject was using CS5 to create magazines for the ipad. as a strictly print kinda girl i'm anxious and interested in how this is all gonna work. they mentioned adobe air at one point and i looked it up (i told you, i'm a print girl) and i'm wondering what the differences are in air and .issue. in other words, after reading a very little bit about Air it looks like it does what indesign is doing for the ipad. i know not much about either so could someone explain the differences, why one is better than the other and when one would be used preferably over the other?
thank you!
maryit was very interesting. just the number of people and the amount of anxiety in the room was interesting in and of itself.
what struck me, since i'm not in magazine publishing, is that this could, theoretically, replace traditional printing. why limit it to magazines? imagine direct mail and catalogues, brochures, being done this way and sent via email (altho on the other hand don't we have all that capability on the internet?) and once this is available on desktop macs and monitors, imagine the effect on events, is the technology there for a 15' long interactive media wall? but anyway, back to my original question, we outsource content here to another studio that uses Air to create touchscreens for tradeshow booths. so i've heard of Air but never used it. how does Air work? why would i use it if i could do everything in indd CS5? the one thing that did seem like an advantage, from what i read, was that Air didn't require a browser or application, it created a standalone app so that would seem like it would be device independent as well. can they be read on a plasma, a phone, an ipad?
i guess what i'm really wondering is if i'm going to invest the time to learn how to make .issue files and then find Air is the way to go. has anyone not been scarred by the betamax/vhs experience? if you have, you know my fear. : )
