Publishing queries in the Portal

Hi experts
I have a requirement for having queries publishe din the portal
I know I can do it by creating web template, but it time consuming
I've tried the following:
1) on query designer I published query to the portal. Issue is that selection criteria of my query will only pop up on the portal if there is some mandatory value. Do you know any workarround for this
2) I also see that by default all my reports are in the portal.. But I have the same issue stated above... no selection criteria will pop up when exectuting those, except if there is any mandatory criteria~
Can anyone help with this portal issue? Any tip is highly appreciated
Many Thanks
Joana

Hi,
If you dont want variable screen then you need set the Web template parameter "Display Variable Screen" to "Turn OFF".
Then varibale screen should not appear while opening up the web template.
I will explain How variable screen will work:
VARIABLE SCREEN NOT SHOWN BY DEFAULT SCENARIOS:
===============================================
1. If a query has no variables, no variable screen will be shown in web.
It is not at all possible to see variable screen in this case.
2. If a query has variables (only optional variables but no mandatory
variables ) then variable screen will not be shown.
3. If a query has mandatory variable but if it is prefilled, then
variable screen will not be shown.
you can enforce to see variable screen only in case 2 and 3 by using the
parameter '&VARIABLE_SCREEN=X' to the end of context url as shown in
example below:
/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/pcd!3aportal_co
ntent!2fcom.sap.pct!2fplatform_add_ons!2fcom.sa
p.ip.bi!2fiViews!2fcom.sap.ip.bi.bex?TEMPLATE=
<XXX>&VARIABLE_SCREEN=X
The variable screen wont be shown if there are no mandatory variables
in the query.  You can force it with the following methods,
1) Append the parameter '&VARIABLE_SCREEN=X' to the links in your menu.
2) Change the parameter in the web template used   > template property
'Force variable screen' in the Web Application Designer, per
   default it is not checked.
3) In case, no template is specified, the standard web template is
used   > transaction SPRO. In case, no web template is maintained as
standard web template in transaction SPRO the standard web template
delivered by SAP is used. It is recommended not to change
the original SAP template but to create a copy, apply changes and
maintain it as new standard web template in transaction SPRO. Please
review note 643464 for further informations."
VARIABLE SCREEN SHOWN BY DEFAULT SCENARIOS:
===========================================
Only when there is a mandatory variable which is not filled and has
to be filled only by user via F4 help, then variable screen will
be shown automatically.
Thanks,
Venkat

  • Publishing query in the portal is disbaled in query designer!

    Hi,
i had created a new query and now i want to publish this query in the portal!
But the option is grayed out in the query designer.
And my query does not have any role so far! i do not have authorization to create a role either
is it because the query is not included in any role that this option is grayed out? i guess the role relavaent to query will be migrated.  ( to Portal and hence publishing the query in the portal option is grayed out )
Even if i could make the role with the authorizations , how could i make the role migrated to Portal
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Ravi

  • BI Admin Cockpit - include queries in the portal

    Hello Everyone,
We have recently installed the BI admin cockpit and try now to set up the portal dashboard.
In the portal under BI Administration > Business Intelligence on the left you have "Data Load Status", "Data Load Statistics" etc.
When we select for example 'Process chain statistics' under "data Load Statistics" there are two windows/ iviews coming up on the right. Now we have to select a web template/query/workbook to see the content and graphic.
But when we log on to the portal again all made settings are gone and we have to include web template/query/workbook again to see the content and graphic.
Does anyone know how to set up the dashboard in a way that all selected web template/query/workbook will be there the next time when logging in to portal?
Thank you very much for your help.

  • How to publish a Bex query on the portal

    Hi Guru,
I have created some Bex queries and I want to publish them on the portal and give access to users.
Is it mandatory to put the queries in a web template before publishing ???
Can I publish without creating a web template ???
In case of web templates, how to publish them as url on the portal ???
    Your help will be appreciated
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
You need not to create web template to publish query in portal.
there are two ways for publishing
1)Go to query designer Click on Query -> Publish-> To portal
here you select the path where you want to create the iview
2)Log in to portal setect the folder in which you want to publish report.
right click -> create new iview -> select BI 7.0 iview -> next -> iview name ie report name -> next -> Application parameter -> here you need to write QUERY =Query technical name -> next -> finish
    Try this,

  • Dynamic Web Template Override in an  IView in the portal

We have successfully copied and changed the default web template for displaying queries in the portal and it works fine.  We also use BI planning and would like to use a different template when a planning query is executed.  Does anyone know if there is a way to override the default template for a query on a case by case basis?   That is, when creating the web template IView, can an alternate web template somehow be specified in addition to the query or is there any exit that provides this type of control?

    Hi,
sorry, this is no solution - but I can confirm the problem with anonymous service access. Maybe It is helping a little bit enclosing the problem.
It occurs regardless of authentication mode of the accessed service from iView. It happens with all system objects (web services and other PCD Systems). This problem is regardless of the Web Service or system authentication method. For auth services we tried user mapping - but doesn't work like with non-auth. services.
I can confirm that there are no problems running the same config with an authenticated portal user.
Technicaly the anonymous user is a authenticated user too, (J2EE_GUEST). He is logged in automatically during portal access with the browser. It seems there is a restriction in handling the anonymous group.
There is a other 4 week old thread on SDN, relating to the same problem (unsolved) "an XML element was malformed" error with anonymous user
I keep looking for a solution.
    Regards
    Michael

  • BW integration with the Portal

I need to integrate BW reports into the Portal. Currently my reports are organized around role menus. I need to know what are the best practices around:
    - role creation. what is the strategy of creating roles in the Portal. do we import the BW roles into the Portal? do we create new roles based on the BW roles? how can BW roles be migrated to the Portal?
    - the execution of online reports from the Portal. Can we run ad-hoc reports in the Portal? can the user select characterstics or change the BW queries from the Portal?
    thanks in advance.

you can find information about upload existing roles from an abap-system to the portal in the sap help:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/40/4b3441cd62db2be10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
when it comes to ad-hoc query and analysis, you can use the bex web analyser of netweaver 04s (callable by url or as iView in the portal) see:

  • Publishing Web Templates on Portal

I am not able to figure out how will I dynamically set the vairbles in order to schedule the Templates daily. E.g. I need to have a Key date as sy-datum - 1 (yesterday). How will I be able to set it up?

  • Publishing bw workbooks to the portal

I am trying to find out what portal role a bw designer would need in order to publish workbooks\queries to KM in the portal and also to publish reports as an iview.  We have a few bw folks who are trying to accomplish this.  In the portal I had assigned them to Business Planning, Business Explorer and Business Intelligence roles as well as Content Admin adn System admin roles.  They said they tried to publish a bw workbook to the portal but were not able to, so for the heck of it I made some of them super admins and then they were able to publish the reports to the portal.  I do not want to leave them as super admins, but I cannot find any documention on sap help that tells me what portal roles they should be in.

    Hello Kathleen,
You need to investigate why the developers were able to publish the reports when thy were assigned the super admin role.
Even in our landscape some of the BW developers are publishing BW reports , as of now we have assigned them Contnet Admin role. and they are doing fine with that.
Let me know if that helps.
    Thanks and Regards

  • Publish a BEx role in the portal

         Hello!
I would like to know if any of you have ever encountered this situation. Is it possible to somehow publish in the portal a link to a BW role, so all the queries/workbooks stored inside can be opened from there? The thing is that the users generate in these folders their own queries from time to time according to business requirements, and they would like them to be available from the portal. If this approach is possible, then the maintenance required for the portal content administrator would be minimal when they create new content under these roles.
I have used KM content for BO folders, but I do not know if something like this is possible for BW roles. If possible, could you please provide some how to's?
       Thank you very much,
       Victor

    Hi,
You need not to create web template to publish query in portal.
there are two ways for publishing
1)Go to query designer Click on Query -> Publish-> To portal
here you select the path where you want to create the iview
2)Log in to portal setect the folder in which you want to publish report.
right click -> create new iview -> select BI 7.0 iview -> next -> iview name ie report name -> next -> Application parameter -> here you need to write QUERY =Query technical name -> next -> finish
    Try this,

  • Publishing reports using BEx to the Portal

We have a folder called Store_Data (under Public Documents in KM) that has 500 store folders for reports.  They are sorted by store number.  When publishing reports to those folders from BEx Broadcaster the folders are sorted by creation date which makes it difficult to find the store folders.
Is there a way to have them sorted the same as the portal?

It is sorting fine in the portal but when you access the folder through BEx is not sorted.

    Hi,
You mean you want to execute the template even after this design time error. If yes then you can simply go to the backend and Transaction "SE38" then in the next screen type "RS_TEMPLATE_MAINTAIN_70" and then in the next screen type your template name ans then press "Execute" button to see temlate in Java Web.
