Publishing with Muse

I want to subscribe to muse to do the html for my company's website.
The problem is I am not sure if I will get editable HTML and CSS files when I publish
From what I read so far I have the impression that muse doesn't give you those files and instead forces you to
publish on adobe cloud which is not what I need.
I need to give the html files to a programer so he can develop the website, is that feasible?

Hi Sara,
You can certainly use the 'Export as HTML' feature to get all the HTML and CSS files that you can upload to your server. (You are not required to publish to Adobe Business Catalyst as you mention above).
However, keep in mind that the code in Muse is all machine generated and really doesn't make sense to a programmer who whould use plain english to name the elements and such.
But, yes, you can export the site as HTML and pass it on to your programmer. Keep in mind that once the programmer makes changes to the HTML or CSS it will no longer be compatible with Muse.

  • Template published with Muse in a subfolder is ignored by Business Catalyst

I published a Muse site to a subfolder in BC.
When I create a BC template by inserting {tag_pagecontent} on a page.
The published template is ignored by BC.
It creates a "templates" folder in my subfolder, the page is put there...
But when I want to select it as a template in any of the popups where you normally find your templates, the page isn't there.
If I move it manually in BC to the top level "template" folder, it pops up everywhere.
It would be nice if BC "looked" in "template" folders in subfolders as well.
This has been posted on the BC forum as well.

To do stuff like that will always need custom coding and things like API work. You will never be able to use Muse for that, its a basic site design tool that can hook up to BC modules. You will need to use coding software and have custom API work done for things like this.

  • Manually upload images after they have been published with Muse?

I am really loving how quickly Muse is allowing me to build a website, however I am really disliking how it handles my images, specifically compressing them with poor results.
I read that you can add a single pixel of transparency, I tried this, seems like a lot to do for a large gallery and also the final results were still not great.
I would like to have full control of this myself in Photoshop and then just upload the images overtop of what Muse has published, is this possible?
I would also like to do this for all my thumbnails.
Any help or info is appreciated.
    Please take a look.

    Hi,
It is very much possible. You can upload your finished images externally to the web server using any FTP tool or other means.
All you need to take care of is the image dimensions and the location of images is not changed, since that may cause issues with your site's layout and display.
    Hope that helps.
    Cheers,

  • Publish from Muse to Free Partner site?

I will putting this in the "Ideas for Features in Adobe Muse" section as well, but thought I'd raise the question and see if anyone has a workaround...
With Muse you can connect directly to your free or paid websites, but you CANNOT connect directly to the Free Partner Site.
You can use Muse to build the site, export it as html and upload it with a separate FTP program, but you cannot hit "Publish" in Muse and connect to the Free Partner Site.
However, Adobe has an option to UPGRADE your Partner plan to Standard Reseller Option (US $995) or Premium Reseller Option - private label program (US $1,995). I received this information via email after requesting it here: Partner Program FAQs | Adobe Business Catalyst
If you scroll down to "Can I still purchase a Standard or Premium Partnership?" you can request this info through "contact BC support"
Apparently, with either of these upgraded plans, it IS possible to Publish from Muse to the Partner Site.
This was confirmed in two different chat sessions, here's one:
Jason Ott: do you mean...if I'm using the free Partner site it won't work with Muse, but if I'm paying for a Partner site I will be able to see it in Muse?
Gaurav A: Yes. You are correct.
Jason Ott: any plans for being able to use Muse to connect to the Free Partner site in the future?
Gaurav A: No information on this yet. This is related to your Adobe ID and how Muse interacts with it.
    My requests are...
CAN WE GET MUSE TO PUBLISH TO A FREE PARTNER SITE?
IF NO, WILL THIS EVER BECOME AN OPTION?
    DOES ANYONE HAVE A WORKAROUND?
It just seems strange that I can publish with Muse to everything else on BC except the Free Partner site.
I suppose there is a technical reason for this, but I thought I'd put it out there to see if there was a solution.
    Any thoughts of workarounds?

I need help with this too! Weird that there is no function for this in Muse. Please help Adobe!

  • Publishing Site, what happens to temporary site and forms created with Muse?

    Hello,
I want to publish my site, however I am wondering if the temporary .businesscatalyst.com site goes down immediately after I do this? Also, I created the forms with Muse and apparently they are connected to the URL, so will they no longer work? Or do I have to republish them? Also, do I have to pay for the published site if I am creativecloud member? Thanks any insight!

    Hi,
The system url will still remain when pushing live and adding your own domain.  The site will naturally reflect your added domain once added however you can always access the site uisng the system URLs.
The form will naturally reflect your added custom domain and will still work under the system URL.
Yes, you get up to 5 free webBasic sites under your cloud subscription.  More details can be found in the FAQ page.

  • My hyperlink is not working in the site I just published in Muse

My hyperlink just works on the computer where I published my site from a Macbook  Pro 10.6.8  IOS, in Firefox 19.0, please help!  I have imported it into Dream Weaver CS6, but still canno pinpoint the problem, it looks and behaves the same.  The site page that I published is http://www.shamarihairsalon.com/contactappointments.html.  When clients click on make an appointment at Flakes Mill Location the link expires

    Vinayak,
Thanks for your response as you were the only one to respond,   however this site was redone in Muse, and worked in the previous site (which was not created in Muse) whether the user login or not.  The only one who has sign-in capability is the owner of the account the, hence the salon owner.  Her clients had been using the site before to make appointments...the link recently stopped working after it was published.  Is their anyway around this? such as altering the way Muse create hyperlinks?  Could an anchor be used instead,? How would that work? Just grasping for straws and want eliminate possibilities.
    Thanks,

The link https://appointment.bizlinkms.com/?page=appt is to an external site that probably requires a login first in order to access it (and hence the session error). You are able to access that page from a particular machine as you are most likely logged into that site already and hence the cookie exists in your browser that is maintaining the session.
On a quick look, the site's login page appears to be https://system.bizlinkms.com/
Nothing to do with Muse though.
    Thanks,
    Vinayak

Does anyone know how i can fix this? I'm a complete noob in this subject.

BC does not give that message - Would be good to see if it is indeed BC.

My website is made with Adobe Muse and published with Business Catalyst.
Some pages can be edit on the Business Catalyst Console, but, unfortunately, some other pages can't.
Why some pages and not others ?
    Thanks for yours answers.

    Hi,
I have try the edit mode with Firefox and Chrome and no one doesn’t work.
For the french pages, I must reload the page to have the blue blocks. And if I do that on an english one, it switches on the french one...

    Hi,
I have just checked at my end and it seems everything is working fine and I am able to edit even the English version pages.
Can you please try some other browser or in a different system to edit your site and check if you are able to do so.

  • Disable updating of the menu widget when working with Muse file?

First of all thank you Adobe for creating Muse - I really like it a lot!
    My question:
when I work on my website with 250+ pages, it strains the performance to make even the slightest changes to the page structure. I work with two Masters each with much the same horisontal menu widget.
Adding, deleting and rearranging pages makes the PC (Windows 7 laptop of some but not awesome power) make a halt and take a deep breathe for some seconds. It really interupts the flow of working.
A crude work around for this is to removing the menu widget in the two masters and put it into a new master page, containing only the copied menu from the two other masters and keeping the rest of the header in place on the original masters to use for aligning on the pages. This way, only one page has to update when working with adding, deleting and rearranging pages.
I have tried to look for a preference to disable updating the Menu widget when working on the page structures and just enable it the update again when the work is done? does it exist? else I would recommend it strongly :-) Since my work around is a bit tricky/risky to use after publishing ;-)
Again, thanks a lot for this nice program. Being a selftought CS (now CCC) user I like the ease of control of the webdesign you can get with Muse (at the dispence of other features of course - if you ever wanted to add some sort of database-lookup feature it would be MUCH appreciated. One workaround is to use iframe and an external search/lookup page, that returns results with links back to parent pages. A bit funny construction though :-) ).

Glad to know you are enjoying Muse.
It can be very processor intensive if you have multiple Master pages with their own All Pages menu widget. Take a look at the following threads and refer to Zak's response.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1423767
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/6166722
See if you are able to use just one All Pages menu widget at your site while taking advantage of the hierarchical Master page feature.
    http://tv.adobe.com/watch/muse-feature-tour/adobe-muse-hierarchical-master-pages/
We are aware of the performance issues caused by the Menu widget (All pages type) and is something being looked upon by the engineering in one of the upcoming releases.
    Thanks,
    Vinayak

  • Issues with Previews in Browsers with Muse

I am having issues when I am previewing my Muse sites in Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome. Yes, I have all updated versions of them. When I view my main page in Explorer, none of my links work ... the roll overs work fine, but I can't navigate to other pages. However, when I view the page in Firefox or Chrome, they work fine and take me to any desired link. I actually sent the preview link to friends and the same issues happen. You'd think the smart thing to do is not use explorer ... however ... when I continue previewing the site in Firefox or Chrome, the child pages do not display properly (words missing, shapes are in other places) but they preview perfectly in Explorer. Is there a simple fix for this? I am ready to pull my hair out!
This is the second site I am trying to build with Muse and did not have any of these problems with the first. Thank you in advance for your help!

Are you publishing to businesscatalyst or are you using the preview page/site in browser option? If the latter and you choose to preview page it will only build data for that page so none of your links will work, if you wish to view the entire site you must chose preview site in browser. If the former could you please supply a url to view your site?

  • When I try to publish my Muse site I get "Query failed" appear in the "Publish to" and "Data Centre"

What can I do to solve that? It's stopping me from publishing updates.

Yes, I am publishing it to BC. It happened the other day too but had
never happened in the previous 9 months that I have been using Muse (and
BC). Have I really hit two maintenance periods in such a short time?
Seems quite unlikely but let's hope so.

  • Secure Zone Log In Box issues (when published from Muse)

I can't log in to one secure zone when I publish the log in box from Muse. When I put the same log in box on a page in Business Catalyst, I am able to use it to log in. However when I take the log in box code and publish from Muse, it keeps denying access. All other log in boxes for other secure zones on the site are working but they have been in place for a while. Has something changed with a newer version of Muse?
Is there a work around for this (like the way webforms made in BC now have to published in BC and submitted to prevent deletion by publication from Muse)?

Please share the link to the page where the form is placed , along with test user login details, so that we may further look into this. Also a screenshot demonstrating the issue you facing would be of great help.

I purchased a subscription with Muse. From there I purchased my domain name. I am reay to push my site live and redeem my free webBASIC site that is included with the Muse subscription. I click the push site live button and it tells me if I have the creative cloud I get 5 free sites and since I don't have the creative cloud it tells me that I need to purchase hosting.
Can some one help me please.

Since the post I was emailed saying the issue was fixed but it was not. this is the email I recieve syaing the issue was fixed.
    Hi kevin wright,
Indeed, there was a workflow issue that didn't allow Muse subscribers to redeem their free webBasics site if they purchased their Muse subscription over a month ago.
My colleagues from the engineering team just released a fix for this issue so you should be able to redeem the free site now according to the steps we talked about on chat yesterday.
I see you already took the http://klockwise.businesscatalyst.com/ site live using a standard BC plan... I suppose you want to re-publish it using the free webBasics site slot? Or do you want to use it for a different Muse project maybe?
    Looking forward to your response,
