Pulling Job short text in Ad Hoc query

Hi All,
I want to pull the 'short text' field defined in Job into my ad-hoc query. If we select the Output as 'Text only' for Job in IT0001 the output is always the long text e.g. Director of Human Resource. I want to output the short text e.g. DIRHR in my ad hoc query. Both short text and long texts are defined in IT1000 while creating a new Job however the queries from infoset PNPCE only pulls the long text. I can pull the short text in ad hoc query from a OM infoset but for the business requirements we have to use PNPCE. Is there a way to achieve this?

Ad Hoc Query - reporting on both PA and OM data in same query.

Is it really not possible to report on both PA and OM in the same query? Does the two different infosets prevent you from doing this?
As a workaround I can run two separate queries and just join the data using Excel. However - I'm having some trouble using the OM infoset. I have a list of job ID's and I'm trying to report on the job short text and the "duty code" which is a custom OM object. Is there a way to add this custom object to the infoset?
Also, I'm finding it difficult to report on the relationships as "Object" is always listed as an output ONLY. Is there a way to make it available as an input?

If you are using logical database PNP, then you can try to add infotype and check the option 'Infotype of related objects' .
This will allow you various HRP tables to add to your query by the relationship.
If you check responsiblity you can use relationship B007 and selecting 1000 would give you the short text and long text of the ID.
This is a very good option available for PNP database.

0ORGUNIT short text displayed in variable selection screen

Hello experts,
I use the 0ORGUNIT as variable in the selection screen, when i use the selection button, the 0ORGUNIT is displayed as a hierarchy but the text are in short text.
In the query, the text are well displayed in Medium-Lenght text.
Where can i defined the parameter to obtain the same lenght for the selection screen?

Hello GALVAGNI,
Go to the administrator of your InfoProvider and go to the dimension of your InfoObject 0ORGUNIT, right-click over 0ORGUNIT there and select "Provider-Specific Properties" then change the option Display to "5 Medium-Length Text".

How to make a custom field as text as well as value fied in ad hoc query

hi,
i have created a custom infotype 9004 in which the custom field contain the code values, and the text of this code values are maintained in another ztable.
when i am viewing this infotype in Ad hoc query i am able to see this fields as only value fields and hence i am unable to get text for this field i.e when we right click on this field only the value option is enabled and the text option is disabled, both these options are enabled in some other standard fields like pernr(personnel no), persg(employee group),persk(employee subgroup).
can anybody suggest me how to enable both these options for custom fields.

Assign you table of text as a table text to the data element/domain of your custom field or thru external key on your infotype.
Query is able to analyse these links.

Ad hoc query text field reference

Hi all,
Faily new to all this and wonder if you have any insight on the following:
In ad hoc query I'm adding additional fields to a functional area. They subsequently show up in SQ02 in the left hand pane tree structure for that functional area.
Now, if I double click on one of the additional fields the most central pane shows the details of this field. One of the boxes in there called 'References' contains a field 'Text field' that associates a long text with the code that the field contains.
As a made-up example: the add. field could be Personnel Area, value "XY01", and it is associated with a field Personnel Area Long Text that contains "Xeta Yoyo Regional Office". This is the association shown in 'References' -> 'Text Field'.
My problem is that this 'Text field' field seems to be populated automatically, that is there is some kind of automatic link between the field and the foreign field that contains its associated long text. Also it's greyed out so un-editable.
Does anyone know where this relationship comes from? Does anyone know how to be able to edit this 'Text field' field?

Ok, I'll try to be a bit clearer.
For infosets in Ad Hoc Query, a field has an option to be related to another, different field that provides the long text version of this. Example: field P1000-OTYPE 'object type' is related to T7770-OTEXT 'object type text'.
This relationship is displayed for each infoset additional field: right click on the add. field -> display/change definition, text identification -> 'Determine LIKE reference using text field' in the pop up window.
Problem is this text field is always greyed out and uneditable. So the question was, how do you set this yourself?

Short text from a sales order not pulling through to a STO

Does anyone have any idea why the short text from a sales order would pull correctly into a purchase requisition, but when this PR is converted to a PO then the short text in the PO reverts to that in the material master?

Hi,
IN ECC 6.0 EHP 4, it gets copied from PR to PO but not in lower versions.
Hence you can achieve the same using some PO BADI's or through enhancement spots.

'X': Transfer short text of org.unit to Personnel Administration
' ': Transfer long text of org.unit to Personnel Administration

PLOGI     TEXTS for Position

Ad hoc query titles

Hi all,
I am making an adhoc query of an infotype - say 0001.
Now whatever fields have lov's or f4 possible value helps, their heading in the output is coming in proper text like 'personal number" etc. All those fields which are free text - like Legal Person ( P0001-JUPER) are coming as headings like 'LP'. i.e. their proper text is not coming. Please let me know how to change this text to the approprriate field description. Also if I created some fields in a custom infotype as data element type 'XFELD' check box, there the heading of the field in the ad hoc query is coming as 'Checkbox' which is actually the short description of the domain ' XFELD'. Please let me know how to change this to desiered heading..

Using transaction CMOD chose the following menu option
TextEnhancements -> Keywords -> change
2) Give Data Element name
3) Enter the data element that you wish to change the display text for, then click the change icon(Pencil). You will then be presented with the screen, which allows you to modify the text values of the data element.

We've upgraded our DS from 3.2 into 4.2.
But sometimes several jobs fail with error: "Message short text 26 107 does not exist".
This error does not occur in DS 3.2.

Such a message seems to be SAP/BI related.
check wether you had shortdumps in your connected SAP system.
In DS there are no "long/medium/short-" texts stored.

How to add an Infotype to an exsting Infoset (ad hoc query)

Hi,
How to add an Infotype (Ex. 0025) to an exsting Infoset (ad hoc query)?
I was trying by clicking on 'Extras' tab & create...I get three options, create field, create table or create structure.
I am not sure which to use or is there any other way? Pls. let me know the steps...
Also what is this 'Package', which is aked whenever you create or change an Infoset.
Pls. suggest.

I was able to add the infotype by adding the table as PA0025 & include all the fields in the field group.
When I check, I get the following error:

Hierarchy node text shows short text instead of medium text in WebI report

Hi,
We have created a simple Hierarchy suing Tx RSH1.
US -> North Carolina
South Carolinakey
Rest of America
Please note "North Carolina" is the medium text for the node while the short text which can contain max of 10 chars is "North Caro"
We have used and activated the hierarchy within the BEx query. Text display with "Medium Text" has been enabled for the InfoObject. The display on the BW report is as expected showing the medium text for all levels and all modes.
When a universe is built on the query and a WebI report is created based on the universe everything works fine other than than the Hierarchy text for different levels and nodes. Instead of showing the Medium text, the short text is getting display.
We took out the text object from the Universe in the Universe designer and went ahead with the key and medium text, but that did not help.
Is this a known bug? Is there a workaround for this issue?
We are on XI 3.1 SP3.

I am working on BO XI 3.1 SP2.
I have displayed the medium text for the hierarchy nodes as:
In my universe three detail objects(key, medium name and long name) gets generated for each hierarchy node.
I have copied the definition of L01 Medium name (detail object) in the L01 dimension object. similarly for other hierarchy nodes.
i.e. L02, L03.. etc.
Now the master data which have been loaded for the medium name will be displayed.

HOW TO LENGTHEN THE SHORT TEXT FIELD IN PR-urgent

my client is asking to lengthen the field size of SHORT TEXT in purchase requisition. if they enter the long text, the characters are getting tranucated.
can you please provide me good solution for this problem.

I think there is no configuration to change the field length. It is technical job, but needs developer key to change the std SAP field length. I recomond that donot go for this, as short text itself is 40 charecter length, there are so may text fields in TEXT tabpage. You can get these texts in PO print also...

Display long text of characteristic in Query name

Hi All,
I have implemented RRI between my sender and receiver query.
When user will click on WBS Element in my sender query the receiver query name will be the name of that WBS Element.
After execution,I am able to see the Short text associated with Characteristic WBS ELement but i want to display Long text of WBS Element in Receiver query name.
I have tried to implement the same logic as suggested by Bhanu in following blog:

Long text of InfoObject in Query Designer

Hi Experts,
In my InfoObject I have Long Text and Short Text.
I have maintained both.
In my Query Designer I'm only getting the short text and same text is getting displayed when I run the Report. Can anyone tell me how do I view the long text please in Query Designer please.

The description issue is resolved but My data which come under that Column is not getting displayed fully.
The length I have defined in the infoobject is 40 by it is only displaying me 25 char information in the report.

Report is by defualt picking up short text for variable selection screen.

Hi Madhav,
The BEx query setting made in infoobject can be overwritten by the settings made in the query .
You need to select Long Text in the query for that characteristic.
This setting will overwrite whatever is made in the info object level and so make will diplay the long text.
