i have a website that i am redesigning. The website is made up of png images. unYaaaaY!!!!!
A friend said that there was a way that i could use illustrator to pull the text from the png and copy to pages for editing. He cant remember how it was done cause he watched his former boss do it. (he said)
How is this done?
I am decent with PS but novice at AI.

Illustrator cannot, but Acrobat can do OCR. Document >> OCR Text Recognition >> Recognize text using ocr.
Acrobat sometimes does a good job, but often messes up spaces and more.
I have not tried Ocrad, but it is free ocr software, or try ominipage.

Remove text from a picture

This is a jpg downloaded from the internet. For starters, I'd like to know how best to remove the row of text above the picture without disturbing the pattern underneath. Then I want to bring it into Encore as a DVD menu with a replacement layer where the picture is.
Looks pretty nice with a Gradient fill over the text, but I should be able to remove the text (I hope)?

My algorithm for such problems are:
1. select roughly by some selection tool.
2. use ColorRange to letters with big fuzziness about 150 (depends of background and text color).
3. expand selection by 2-5 pixels to make selection little bit bigger than letters.
4. use Content-Aware Fill.
5. use stamp for perfectionism.
Or sometimes i just stamp it or use Curt Y 'copy-paste' method (if background don't contain kinda gradients, in that case stamping is doable but hard).

Pulling text from a .txt to a scroll pane or text area

Hi-
I'm sure there's a way to do this, but I'm not exactly fluent in ActionScript.
Basically, my whole website's going to be in Flash, but I want to be able to update one page (sort of a news/blog page) without having to edit the Flash file every time. I'm assuming the easiest way to do this would be to set up either a scroll pane or a text box and pull the text in from a .txt file (if there's a better way, please let me know). That way I could continue to add on to the .txt file, and Flash would always pull in the current version.
So, my issues are:
1. I have no idea where to start with the code for something like that. Is it a LoadVar? Do I physically put a scroll pane or a text area in the frame and put the action on that, or do I put the action on the frame and have it call up a text area component?
2. Will the text scroll automatically, or is that something else I would have to add in? I plan on adding to this text file for awhile, so it could end up being a lot of text over time.
3. Would I be able to format the text in the .txt at all? For instance, if I hit enter to put in a paragraph break, would that register once it's pulled into Flash, or would I have to put in an html paragraph break or something? That may be a dumb question, but as I said, I'm not exactly fluent in ActionScript (or any other programming language for that matter).

I recommend you use an xml file rather than a text file for storing your content. The main reason being that it tends to make thing more easily organizable, as well as easier to differentiate things like titles, contents, links, images, etc.
You could start off using a TextArea component if you want, just to keep things simple. If you want to format things you can use the htmlText property rather than the text proiperty when assigning your content. That will allow you more control of the presentation.
If you want to take the xml approach, you should search Google for "AS# XML tutorial" where you substitute whatever version you plan to use for the "#". If you plan to use AS3, there is a good tutorial here: http://www.gotoandlearn.com/play?id=64

Is there a way to create a link within a document that will pull text from the document and open it up in a separate text box within the document?

I am trying to link sections of an form within a PDF back to instructions within the same PDF document. Instead of having this jump back to the page within the document I would like for it to pull up the identified text within a separate pop-up text box on the same page where the form lives. Is this possible?

Instead of linking back to the instructions page, may be you can use tool tips or comments so that the instructions can be seen besides the text.

Pulling text from fields based on criteria

So, I am somewhat new to Adobe LifeCycle designer. I am creating an order form that lists product with some prdouct information. Currently a customer can fill in a quantity under the quantity field and it will auto generate a subtotal and will add that value to the grandtotal.
The next thing that I have to do is create a final page that is the order form. This order form will be printed and mailed in. What I would like to do is automatically pull the products where the quantity is not equal to zero into those fields. I would like to pull the name, size, quantity and subtotal into a row in a table on the order form. So for each product that has a quantity it would have to start on a new line in the table.
ex. First row column one name is ItemNumber1, Second Row column one is ItemNumber2
I think i need a variable that will globally add a number every time one of the quantites is not blank and it uses a row in the table.
Anyone have any coding suggestions?

Replace text from external source expression from AE CS6 not working in AE CC

We have used some expressions in an AE CS6 project to fill text from an external file. Here's an example:

It works fine in CS6. When we open the file in AE CC, the expressions can't find the data.txt file to pull text from. All we get is the "text not found" error. We stepped through debug and the data.txt file doesn't open/isn't found.
What up with that?

Have multiple iPhone backups across 2 iPhones and 3 iPads. I need to pull backup files and pictures off of backed up devices that are not my current in-use device. How do I do that? They are all under one apple ID.

If you still have the devices, import them to your computer (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083), then sync them to your current device. If they are only stored in backups, the only way to access them is to restore the device to the entire backup. Note: you can only restore photos in an iPhone backup to another iPhone, and from an iPad backup to another iPad. If the backups are on your computer, you may be able to extract the photos from the backup using 3rd party software such as iPhone Backup Extractor.

In AE CS6 I have 2 3D text layers swapping poition as the camera pulls back from them. One layer has a blur added and if I switch off the fx then they stay in the correct order.
The whole comp consists of 25 tiles (2500x2500px) laid out in 3D as a surface, it is a large map, and the text, which are place names, are at 90 degrees to it. I have placed nulls on the surface to to anchor lights and text to the correct points on the map.
I wanted a drop shadow behind the text to aid legibility against the background but since using a layer style breaks the render order in 3D space I have duplicated the text, made the front layer white and the back layer black and added a fast blur to the back layer.
There are expresions to fix the position of the text layers to a null, another expression that rotates both layers linked to rotation of the null that the camera orbits around and also a scale expression that links the scale of the text to the distance from the camera, so the text stays the same size in the frame no matter how far or close the camera moves. In the comp the text layers are next to each other, the white is the index number above the black.
This has all worked fine. The camera, pulls back, rotates around and the text faces the camera and stays a constant size in the frame. Then I was asked to tweak the move. Suddenly the two text layers swapped round, the black shadow layer obscuring the white text when the camera is in close. As the camera pulls back they go back to their proper positions. However if I turn off the fast blur then they both do what they ought too, white renders ontop of the black no matter what the distance.
Does anyone have a clue as to why?

It's not just a preview issue though, as it also renders out. So there's something going on.
My fall back was going to be to switch to 2D text and use an expression to link it's 2D comp position to the null in 3D world space.
Totally forgot about the Drop Shadow effect, I've been using layer styles for so long now, as there's more control control over the look, but Drop Shadow appears to be working.

Short text from a sales order not pulling through to a STO

Hi,
Does anyone have any idea why the short text from a sales order would pull correctly into a purchase requisition, but when this PR is converted to a PO then the short text in the PO reverts to that in the material master?

IN ECC 6.0 EHP 4, it gets copied from PR to PO but not in lower versions.
Hence you can achieve the same using some PO BADI's or through enhancement spots.

Why can i not receive picture texts from my contacts

Ever since my phone upgraded to the new system, I cannot receive any picture texts from my friends. my text messages indicate I have a new message (friends name and no subject) and when I click on it, it brings up a new text message for me to send. I know they are pictures because I ask my friends if they had sent me something. I use this feature a lot and it gets annoying to have my friends email it to me instead of texting it, not all my friends have smart phones and cannot email me the pictures all the time. Can someone please help?

Is your mobile data turned on? And if you long press on the picture in the text can you save attachment? If you can do that try viewing them in your gallery.

MMS is on, and I can send pictures successfully. But when I receive them, the photo shows up for a split second before it becomes a downloading icon which never changes.

Some pages will run text and pictures together, like a car rear-ending another or a train pile up. Other pages will cut an image or text short, i.e. it will display a portion of the top of the image or text but not the rest. This happens on Amazon for example, the section where it says "Customers who looked at this also looked at" will allow only a certain amount of the upper portion of the description immediately below the picture of the product but below that section everything is fine until I get to another section displaying more products and their descriptions and then it cuts the bottom portions off again. I've noticed this behavior mostly in the sections with product photos, the text sections seem okay. YouTube also displays this behavior. It's even doing it on this page right now. Below this box I can read "The more information you can provide the better chance your question will be answered " , but directly below that in the next sentence I can see the start of it with "Troublshootin" and the "Automatically Add" in a green field covering the "g". The next clear text is "A window will open in the top corner. Click Allow, and then click Install. If the automated way doesn't work, try these manual steps." If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" in case the current setting is causing problems.

Make sure that you allow websites to choose their fonts.

It is better not to increase the minimum font size, but use an extension to set the default page zoom to prevent issues with text not being displayed properly.
