Pullout sidebar help!  When hidden the scrollable frame blocks interactive content beneath it.

Ok, I feel like this is one of those things that has a really easy answer and I'm just missing it but I have been kicking it around for a few weeks and can't come up with anything.
Really basic problem:  I have a pull out sidebar for my app as a scrollable frame and it works fine.  It is the top layer of course because it has to always be available from any part of the app.
The issue, as I said in the title, is that even when the sidebar is hidden and you can only see the pullout tab, the entire scrollable frame is still invisibly blocking all interactive content beneath it.  So for example any buttons on that side of the app arent clickable, no video controlls, etc etc.  Anytime you click on that side of the app it thinks you are trying to manipulate the scroll frame.
I don't know what to do!
Thank you for any ideas.

Redesign the page. That's simply how it works. The entire space of the frame is always live.
Try dragging in the middle where there's no content and you'll see that the content still scrolls.

  • How to access the Text Frame, when we use scrollable frame,

    Hi Friends,
How to access the Text Frame, when we use scrollable frame,
    Thank you,
    [ Nav ]

    That's the same question:
how can I access something (a page item) on a page…
Answer: you need something unique in that object you can get a handle on.
Or you use the selection a user of your script is doing and work with that selection…
A "scrollable frame" is nothing special. What it makes it a "scrollable frame" is the DPS software.
So you have to look for attached labels on the object, that identify the object for the PDS plug-in "Overlay Creator" as a "scrollable frame". That's possible with the "extractLabel("KeyString")" function. But you need to know the appropriate key-string in advance.
In another of your thread in the DPS forum, I basically answered the question how to obtain those key-strings.
When knowing the key-string you could loop through all your page items (you can skip all text frames) in the allPageItems-collection, to identify the "scrollable frame" by extracting the right label.
If you have more than one "scollable frames" you need a second unique identifier for the particular object.
That could be nearly any property.
Keep in mind, there is no "scrollableFrames" collection in the DOM !

  • Where is the "Scrollable Frame" on the Overlay Creator panel?

I can't seem to find the "Scrollable Frame" on my Overlay Creator panel and now I'm caught in the middle. Is there anything that I missed? I can only see the following:
    Hyperlink
    Slideshow
    Image Sequence
    Audio & Video
    Panorama
    Web Content
    Pan & Zoom.

I know you mean the other Bob, but the purpose of that is to have something to align with the edge of the scrollable content.
Without the dummy content you wouldn’t be able to position the content. Try doing it without that and you’ll see the problem.

  • Help:when is the better time for flush to file.

I read a line every time from a text file and write to another file in a loop. When i put flush function into loop, the disk will
make a little noise and i don't feel better. I don't know which is better to flush to file: after every write or after exit from loop.
Or don't need it at all. Anyone can help me about this?
    Thanks.

You don't need to flush at all. The operating system will take care about this. When closing the file it will be flushed anyway.
You can use the flush function if you're continuously writing to a file from one application (keeping the file open) and reading from the file in another application (at the same time).
    Hope this helps,

  • Plz help me with the internal frames

    hi,.
i have design mainframe of my application contain some jinternalframes
.but these internal frames are not properly working since my mainframe contain borderlayout , mainframe also contain some menubar ,toolbar, jtable .so whenever i call my internalframes these frames just get behind my jtable . whenever i shift the border layout to
east or west or north the internalframes just get shift inthe given space .actually by default i have border layout as center.when shift my layout to flow layout menubar, toolbar, every thing get shifted , so another problems occur. if iam using flow layout the size of the internalframes remain the same as setted in the code. else in the borderlayout it acqurie the whole of the desktopPane.and no resize code works on it. setsize, setbound, sestpreffredsize, dimension non of these method work.
thanx for now hope u will slove my problems .

Read the Swing tutorial on [url http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/components/internalframe.html]How to Use Internal Frames. You add a JDesktopPane to the contentPane and then add the JInternalFrames to the desktop pane.
If you want to add other components to the GUI then you add them to some other part of the content pane. You don't mix other Swing components and internal frame on the desktop pane.

  • Error when using the Open file block

I'm new to labview programming and am having the following problem:
When trying to open a file ".dat" in Labview 6i it from the program ".vi" and appears "Error 7" and the file does not open. I am using the block "Open file". Attached is a screenshot. How to solve this?
    Thanks

There is no way to troubleshoot this by looking at a picture of the diagram. LabVIEW 6 is almost prehistory and many things have changed, especially the file IO all looks different so it is impossible to tell what you are doing.
Error 7 is file not found, so most likely your string operations are not correct. What are the full strings? What is the final file name (maybe you are missing a "\" or maybe you are on a different OS type). Put an indicator at the path wire to see what's happening!
    Is this a datalog file?
(Overall, the code is a bit suspect. Nobody needs a seven frame flat sequence. ) Why do a control and an indicator have the same label?)

  • Problem with Pullout Tab/Scrollable Frame

I've designed a pullout tab and in the Scrollable Frame Overlay I've specified "Horizontal" as the scroll direction. Now, with Desktop Preview everything looks fine. On the iPad however, the frame can be moved around in all kind of directions - up, down, left, right, even in circles (so to speak).
When I copied the frame to another empty page for test purposes, everything worked as planned with Desktop Preview and on the iPad. So then I added the rest of my content to that test page and voila, the problem resurfaced.  I also have other pages with pullout tabs in the same folio that work just fine. I'm lost to what causes this behaviour in this one article.
    Anyone had this before?
    Thanks.

My mistake, I meant the layers panel. Try renaming your graphic frames to samething unique.

  • Scrollable Frame issue on iPad 'Adobe Viewer'

I'm wondering if anyone else has this issue when previewing a folio with the iPad viewer.
The issue is when I have a full (or even part) page scrollable frame on a page and once I have vertically swiped/scrolled to the end of the scrollable frame, then the next vertical swipe seems to stick much more than usual and requires a much longer/sustained swipe to get it to move on to the next page.
This issue is only occuring when previewing a folio on the iPad viewer. It behaves as expected (short normal swipes) when previewed on the Desktop 'Content Viewer'. It also behaves as expected when simply previewing from the Folio Overlays panel – both on the Desktop viewer and iPad viewer. It also behaves if I import the article as PNG format into a folio, however I am requiring vector quality/display for this project so can't ignore the issue.
It also does not fix the issue to select 'raster' rather than 'vector' in export options within the 'scrollable frame' folio overlay panel.
My first thought was that maybe this is just a quirk of the iPad viewer, but the fact that the behaviour works in most other scenarios has me guessing. Maybe i am missing something somewhere which may explain this. I see the use of Scrollable Frames in this manner within many apps (in vector/PDF) without experiencing this issue, hence why I am leaning towards it being a quirk of the viewer when as a folio with a PDF scrollable frame.
I am using the latest viewers (Desktop and iPad app). The folio's tested trying to resolve this issue have been in both v26 and v27. Using InDesign CS6 on Mac. Same issue happens whether iPad is horizontal or vertical.
Please let me know if you need any further details on my setup or what i have been testing if that will help.
    Thanks
    Ross

i had this problem once, in the folio producer have you given the folio a name, number and description?
also in the viewer on the ipad they are not nessecarily in the right order - so scoot about on it
if all else fails, delete the folio and re-upload, we had a glitch once and the only solution was to re upload

  • Scrollable frames. Buttons not working.

    Hello.
I have a problem with buttons in the scrollable frames.
I have a slideshow with a thumb's. Each thumb consist of MSO (non active icon and active icon) and clear frame - button to that MSO and to slide foto. The thumb's grouped and placed into the frame with horizontal scroll overlay effect.
That frame placed into another frame-pull out tab, which have vertical scroll effect. And when I pressed the button, slide fotos changes correctly, but button MSO not working.
See files from dropbox --  https://www.dropbox.com/sh/rsbf1jto3a39jug/IVcQxaYJOW
Sorry for my english. I need help very much.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I understand that I can use two 'states'  of the buttons. And I tried it. But. Buttons renditions are raster images. And on the retina display we had bad quality. My target was to create vector buttons. With good quality on both displays.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi (again),
It seems that you built your stuff in a very complicated way.
    First, try to make simple!
You mixed MSO and buttons functions. Useless and unfonctional.
Yous should use only button panel, with two different 'states' ('Normal' and 'Clic').
See below (no MSO function used at all for the button):

Use the layer panel to easily select the objects you want to modify.

  • Scrollable Frame hot area

    Hi,
May be this is an old question but...
I want to use Scrollable Frame to make interactive tabs that are half hidden in the screen. When the user drags them, they become visible, as they are pasted into a bigger scrollable frame. This works nice, but the drawback is that all the invisible part of the scrollable frame becomes sensitive to the dragging, not just the content (the tabs). So the rest of interactivity in my screen is afected and interfered, making the slideshows underneath in the middle of the screen useless...
Is there any workaround for this: having the gliding tabs while preserving a swipping slideshow as well?
    Thanks

    Use an MSO instead.

  • Button in Scrollable Frame not working

Hey, I read lots of other questions concerning this topic but could'nt  find a sollution
I am working with CS5.5 and the newest version of the Folio producer. I have a page witz a Video, some buttons and a scrollable Frame where are some pictures inside. These pictures ae grouped together and then anchored inside of the frame. Scrolling these images works fine, but when convert the pictures into Buttons and and link them to a random website nothing happens when I click them.
Is it only possible to test this on the iPad? At this moment I can only test in the Content Viewer Deskop Application. I have already tried everything...putting layers to the front or background, defining the pictures as Buttons before or after putting them into the scrollable frame...nothing is changing...
Now I am despairing a bit. Hope somebody can help me!

Yes yes, I know. But makes it a difference with this issue? Problem is: I have the iPad I use for testing only from while to while and I dont get it back before monday. Not a very good starting point to build a folio, I know...

  • V20 Problem Scrollable Frames

    Hi Everyone!
I have InDesign CS5.5 and I'm having a problem with the new scrollable frames functions.
I tried to recreate a scrollable frame like the one shown here tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-digital-publishing-suite/scrollable-frames-and-pan-zoom-v19/ at 03:43.
    My Problem is:
Hide Scroll Indicators does not work
Use Document Position does not work too.
I have installed the latest producer tools (FolioProducerTools-CS55-1.10.1 and FolioPanel-CS55-12.2.2.1).
I'm running Windows (Is this the problem here? :-P )
I un- and reinstalled the producer tools.
I also tried it on my windows notebook. Same result.
Do I need to install anything else to get it working?
Maybe someone can help me here.
    Best,
    Wolfgang
Message was edited by: Onefootvisual19 I uninstalled the Folio Producer Tools v 1.10.1 and installed s v 1.8 (where the feature scrollable frame wasn't available yet) than installed v 1.9 (the wanted function as described above didn't work) and then finally reinstalled v.1.10.1. It still doesn't work ...  Am I the only one here who experiences these problems?
    Message was edited by: Onefootvisual19
Here are also three screenshots to illustrate my problem.
1.) I the red frame is the container of the grouped elements that are scrollable (on the left side is the whole element so you can see it). Hide scroll indicators option is checked and also use document position.
    2. When I start the Content Viewer the scrollable frame places the content on the upper left corner ...
    3. and scroll indicators are visible
    What's the problem here?
    Can  anyone help me out?

    Wolfgang

    Here is another strange thing:
I looked up http://www.caniupdateadobedps.com/ and they say that you find the dps version number in the info window of the folio builder panel. it should be 20.
but mine says 15? though I installed v20 now for the fifth time.
the extension manager says I have v20 though.
Is this the cause for my dps functions not working the way they should?
I really would appreciate some help here.

    Dear Neil,
Thank you for pointing out the right direction.
    Here is the deal:
After I deleted all the parts you described and reinstalled the tools it still didn't work, but I noticed in the Extension Manager that the plug-in was still active and located at the location where I installed InDesign CS5.5. I again deinstalled the tools and also deleted the "(DigitalPublishing Resources)" folder and the plug-in "DigitalPublishing.apln" (which was from the year 2011).
Than I reinstalled the tools and after starting InDesign CS5.5 the panel window told me I'm missing a plug-in and I should download the latest producer tools.
Here is the trick: I copied the newly created (from reinstalling the new tools) "(DigitalPublishing Resources)" and the "DigitalPublishing.apln" from C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS5.5\Plug-Ins\Graphics to the location where I have installed InDesign CS5.5 and it works!
Neil, thank you very much for your time!
    You saved my day!
    Best,
    Wolfgang

  • Trouble nesting video in scrollable frame

Hi I'm having trouble getting a video into a scrollable frame. I am using a scrollable frame to make a pull out tab on my page. When I cut and paste the video and a tab into the container frame the only folio overlay option i am given is video, it will not let me make the frame scrollable. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You can get around this by creating a scrollable frame with dummy content.
Delete all the content after setting the scrollable frame options and then
    pasting the video inŠ.BUTŠ
You may want to rethink this by using an MSO instead. AFAIC, using a
scrollable frame for this is not a great idea and can, depending upon the
size of the scrollable area, interfere with the navigation to the next
    article or page.

  • Layering of Scrollable frames

I have a design, that has a fly out scrollable menu on the left hand side of the page.  I have another scrollable frame on the artboard that also scrolls.  When the flyout menu from the left is opened and you scroll through it, you can see the other content.  I have the other scrollable content above the fly out menu in my layers panel... but i did this because if it isn't the flyout menu will not let you scroll the underlying content.
Is there a way around this?
sorry if this isnt explained very well.
any help our advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Hi Bob,
here is what im talking about.  the first image (in green) is underneath the fly out menu (inside this issue...)  The scrollable text on the green side is actually on a higher layer than the scrollable text on the (right image) this was done because when the text in the scrollable frame (in green) is on a lower layer than the stuff on the right side... you can scroll it.  The scrollable frame doesnt work.  Is there a work around for this?  I hope this explains what I'm running into.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Problem with V19 Scrollable Frame

I have a magazine that worked find on V18 of producer tools, since I upgraded to V19 I am having ptoblems.
I have a standard page size 2048x1536 (iPad 3), and I have the whole page set as a scrollable frame with a background placed behind it. Then all my content for the page is pasted into the scrollable frame which runs much lower than the 2048 page length. You can then scroll the page within the scrollable frame rather than having a long page to scroll down. This also creates a nice layering effect where the content moves on top of a static background.
This worked fine for me on V18 producer tools, but now when I load my magazine onto my iPad, I'm scrolling through articles and when I hit the page with the scrollable frame you can no longer scroll left or right and you're stuck on the page...
Any idea how I can fix this as I have a client that has seen and likes the layering effect? Last thing I want to do is have to remove it and just make a long page.

    Which totally sucks, BTW.
If you use JPG or PNG then it works but you lose the razor sharp text and pinch and zoom that PDF provides.
I really don't get this one, either. Especially since the scrollable frames option gives you the ability to make it vertical only. That should eliminate any "confusion" as to which way to you want to scroll and which way you want to swipe.
    Bob
