Putting stuff into array

hello, i want to put some ints and string into an seperate array, but the prog gives me an nullpointer, am i doing something wrong, here's the code
public class Test
private Test test[];
private int numbers[];
private String names[];
public Test()
test = new Test[3];
test[0] = new Test(1, "One");
test[1] = new Test(2, "Two");
test[2] = new Test(3, "Three");
numbers = new int[3];
names = new String[3];
public Test(int numbers, String names)
setNumbers(numbers);
setNames(names);
public void setNumbers(int number)
for(int a=0;a<3;a++)
this.numbers[a] = numbers;
public void setNames(String loafName)
for(int b=0;b<3;b++)
this.names[b] = names;
public int getNumbers(int number)
return numbers[number];
public String getNames(int number)
return names[number];
}and the main class is like this(i have connection with the domain class, and it's in a for lus etc...:
System.out.println(test.getNumbers[a]);
System.out.println(test.getNames[a]);

so do you mean like this:
public class Test
private Test test[];
private int numbers[];
private String names[];
public Test()
test = new Test[3];
test[0] = new Test(1, "One");
test[1] = new Test(2, "Two");
test[2] = new Test(3, "Three");
public Test(int numbers, String names)
numbers = new int[3];
names = new String[3];
setNumbers(numbers);
setNames(names);
public void setNumbers(int number)
for(int a=0;a<3;a++)
this.numbers[a] = numbers;
public void setNames(String names)
for(int b=0;b<3;b++)
this.names[b] = names;
public int getNumbers(int number)
return numbers[number];
public String getNames(int number)
return names[number];
}

  • Boolean into array

    Hi,
    I am using entire port 11 and partially port 10 (10.7, 10.6) for 10 lines from NI PCI-6509 card. Since all these 10 lines can either be high or low, at the output of my DAQ Assistant, my data is represented in boolean, where I want to have all 10 boolean put together into array (orange) or double (orange as well). I don't know what do I need for the input of "Index Array", which is the place where those 10 lines will be connected.
    So my question is what should I use to convert boolean into something that is input of Index Array.
    Thanks

    It should look this. With this technique, the array of products have to match the index. For example, if the digital read returns numeric 14, then item 14 in the array should be that product name. For your combo box, the numbers do not have to be in order and they do not have to be sequential. For example, if 14 is the value returned by the Top Cap CCA, then select the combo box>Edit items and make the Value 14. The array constant you have, make item 14 in the array equal to Top Cap CCA.

  • Put Linkedlist into arraylist ???

    hello,
    i have a linkedlist of objects of size 1000. Every object(every node of linked list is an instance of a class) in linkedlist contains of 20 variables. Now i want to take objects from this linkedlist and put it into array list.???
    Example: If User says me i want to see linked list between range 30 to 200. So i want to take get object 30 to object 200 from linkedlist. I have decided to put into an array and pass it to my other class which would perform some calculation on these objects. I am unable to get objects from linkedlist and put into array list.

    import java.util.*;
    public class ListConvert {
        public static void main(String[] args) {
         LinkedList<String> ll = new LinkedList<String>();
         ll.add("test");
         ArrayList<String> al = new ArrayList<String>(ll);
         System.out.println(al.get(0));
    }

  • How can i load or put an image into array of pixels?

    i am doing my undergraduate project , i am using java , mainly the project works in image manipulating or it is image relevant , few days ago i stucked in a little problem , my problem is that i want to put an image scanned from scanner into array or anything ( that makes me reach my goal which is go to specific locations in the image to gather the pixel colour on that location ) , for my project that's so critical to complete the job so , now am trying buffered image but i think it will be significant if i find another way to help , even it isn't in java i heared that matlab has such tools & libraries to help
    thanks .....
    looking forward to hearing from you guys
    Note : My project is java based .

    Check out the PixelGrabber class: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/awt/image/PixelGrabber.html
    It's pretty simple to get an array of Color objects - or you could just leave it as an int array - though it can be somewhat slow.
    //img - Your img
    int[] pix=new int[img.getWidth(null)*img.getHeight(null)];
    PixelGrabber grab=new PixelGrabber(img,0,0,img.getWidth(null),img.getHeight(null),pix,0,img.getWidth(null));
    grab.grabPixels();  //Blocks, you could use startGrabbing() for asynchronous stuff
    Color[] colors=new Color[pix.length];
    for(int in1=0;in1<colors.length;in1++){
    colors[in1]=new Color(pix[in1],true);  //Use false to ignore Alpha channel
    }//for
    //Colors now contains a Color object for every pixel in the image//Mind you, I haven't compiled this so there could be errors; but I've used essentially the same code many times with few difficulties.

  • How to put data from database into array

    I need to answer hot to put data from database directly into array.
    I tried like the code below but the error message said: java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 0, and it points to this line: numbers [row][0]= rs.getString("ID");
    Hope you can help.
    ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery(query);
         int row=0;
         String [] [] numbers=new String [row][10];
         // output resultset
         while ( rs.next() )
              numbers [row][0]= rs.getString("ID");
              numbers [row][1]= rs.getString("name");
         row++;
         // close resultset
         rs.close();
    thanks,Devi

    The exception is been thrown simply because you assigned '0' to the 'row' variable, indicating a zero length of the array. In fact you should assign the row count to it.
    After all, don't do that. Make use of the Collection framework and map the ResultSet to a Collection of DTO's.
    List<User> users = new ArrayList<User>();
    while (resultSet.next()) {
        User user = new User();
        user.setID(resultSet.getString("ID"));
        user.setName(resultSet.getString("name"));
        users.add(user);
    }

  • How do I put data into a template using the Labview report generation toolkit for Microsoft Office?

    I am running Lookout 5.0 and have recently purchased the Labview Report Generation Toolkit for Microsoft Office to create reports from my Lookout logged data. Since I have never used Labview I am having my problems. I tried following the tutorials but they do not seem to be examples of what I want to do.
    I log rainfall totals (1 spreadsheet)in Lookout from 40 different sites in 5 minute increments. I copy these totals and paste them into another spreadsheet which sums them up to give me hourly totals and then paste those totals into a spreadsheet for distribution.
    In Labview I create a new report and use the distribution sheet as my template, but how do I complete
    the steps of loading the raw 5 minute data into labview and then paste it into the hourly total spreadsheet and then transfer those totals into the distribution template?
    I have been trying to figure this out for over a week, and I am getting nowhere.
    Any response would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Jason P
    Jason Phillips

    Lookout saves the files in .csv form which can be opened in Excel. I did make some progress by using the "append table to report" vi which allowed me to put values into an array and then those values were entered into my template on my report vi.
    Where I am stuck now is I want to be able to put values into my template from a .csv file, not from an array I have to manually put numbers in.
    Once those values are in my template I want to pull summed values from the template and place them into a final excel file for printing.
    I have attached examples of the files I am working with to help you better understand what I am trying to do.
    I hope that makes sense.

  • How do I take data from a data grid and put it into a variable?

    I am having problems taking data from a datagrid (guess you got that from the title) and setting it to a variable. I am tak
    ing the data from 3 different rss feeds, depending on what button you press, and showing it in a grid. I would like to be able to do more with this data. Here is my code so far:
    <mx:VBox id="vbox" x="70" y="150">
      <mx:Label text="This Data Grid is doing nothing" />
      <mx:DataGrid width="1000" dataProvider="{fullXML}">
       <mx:columns>
        <mx:DataGridColumn id="dataGrid" *dataField="channel.description" headerText="Feed"/>
       </mx:columns>
      </mx:DataGrid>
    </mx:VBox>
    <!-- from test 5 -->
    <mx:Move id="moved" target="{hbox}" repeatCount="0" easingFunction="mx.effects.easing.Linear.easeIn" />
    <mx:HBox id="hbox" fontSize="12" fontFamily="courier">
      <mx:Label text="{website**}" />
    </mx:HBox>
    * this is the data I want to get out
    ** this is where I want to be able to put the variable.
    I don't know if I can do it here or if I need a function or what.
    I would like to be able to put it into an array, but step one is anything at all, so I'm trying just a variable.

    Where do I put that line of code? I see that it goes at the Script part near the top, but how can I use that, I am pretty new to this language. I am not familiar with this line, where does it bind the value from the datagrid to the variable?
    fullXML[myDataGrid.selectedIndex].FIELD_NAME;
    myDataGrid would be the id from the grid I am guessing?
    and selected index would be the channel.description part?
    and FIELD_NAME; is the variable name?
    does this go into a funtion or is it placed at the top where the variables are declared?

  • How to put graphics into a JViewport?

    Hi,
    I'm trying to make a simple game, where a block can move around in a 30x30 grid with collision detection. So far, it works alright, but I want the window to hold only 10x10 and for the block that is moving to stay at the center while the painted background moves around. The program reads a .dat file to get the world.
    So is there a way to use the background world Ive painted and put it into a viewport so that it will scroll when the keys are hit to move? Also I'd like to make the block stay at the center of the screen, unless it's at a corner.
    Hopefully this makes sense and someone can help. Thanks.

So I thought I'd post my code here in case anybody wants to copy/paste the code. You will still need to use the DAT file provide above as well as provide icons to represent the floor and wall.

  • In general, how do I put code into a loop?

    I have access to a procedure that takes a parameter and spits out a single result. I need to figure out how to use that procedure and spit out many results. This example should clear things up.
    VARIABLE enum NUMBER;
    EXEC :enum := 7566;
    -- my procedure. Cannot change code here.
    -- Prints out a formatted name and job, given an empno stored in :enum
    SELECT ename || ' (' || job || ')' AS "myrow"
    FROM scott.emp
    WHERE empno = :enum;
    -- end of my procedureHere, I can't change anything from the SELECT to the semi-colon. Now I would like to put this into a PL/SQL LOOP, but I can't figure it out. Let's say I want to print out all of the employees with a job of manager. Somehow I will need enum to take the value of the current iteration from within the loop.
    something like this:
    BEGIN
    -- first get the list of employees
    CURSOR e_cur IS
    SELECT empno
    FROM scott.emp
    WHERE job="MANAGER';
    END;
    BEGIN
    FOR r_cur IN e_cur LOOP
    :enum = r_cur.empno
    -- my procedure. Cannot change code here.
    -- Prints out a formatted name and job, given an empno stored in :enum
    SELECT ename || ' (' || job || ')' AS "myrow"
    FROM scott.emp
    WHERE empno = :enum;
    -- end of my procedure
    END LOOP;
    END;
    {code}
    of course, this code does not work, and I don't know what else to try.
    Thanks in advance for any help!

    Oh boy, do I owe you guys an apology. Absolutely no excuse, but I screwed up big time yesterday. I am working on a couple of projects and got some wires crossed. I would like to start over. Forget everything I asked yesterday. I wouldn't be surprised if no one answered, but I could still use some help. I am embarrassed because I am usually pretty good at these things, and again, I humbly apologize.
    Still with me? Here we go:
    I have a SQL script that is quite long. It has 25 select statements, 4 unions, 7 minus'es, lots of joins, sub-queries, etc. The script expects two bind variables to be set before running. The code was written to execute once (like a report). But the code does exactly what I need, but I need to run it on a much larger set. So I would like to wrap it in a loop. Now, I am pretty good at other programming languages (I know, hard to believe given yesterday's exchange). If I have some java code that I want to wrap in a FOR-NEXT loop, often all I need to do is put one line at the top of the code and one line at the bottom. Then I make sure the variables that need t be updated through each iteration are properly updated. Bada-bing, bada-boom, it's done.
    It doesn't seem as easy here. I know that I will have to convert my SQL script to PL/SQL. But I am wrestling with the DECLAREs, BEGINs and LOOPs, and changes to the existing code to ensure the bind variables are updated each iteration. I have tried all of what I thought would be the simple solutions as I described with my java example above, but it has not worked. So, as my subject line indicates, I was wondering if there was a general methodology to LOOP-ifying existing code. I know this is a pretty nebulous question, and I probably blew it yesterday, but I really do need some help. Even if it is "read this and that website/book/etc". That's really it. sigh All that stuff yesterday about "unmodifiable code"--forget about that. I should never have said that. Anything goes.
    Maybe there isn't a simple solution here. SQL isn't Java. And that's OK. At least then I will know I will need to look for a different solution or I will have to get a LOT smarter with SQL and PL/SQL. I thought my super-simple example yesterday was a good enough substitute for what I am faced with, but maybe that isn't a good assumption.

  • Sorting numbers based on value into arrays

    Hi ...
    I currently have a large list of numbers inside an array.. say from 0 to 400 000. They appear in order, but are unevenly spaced.
    Now I'd like to sort these numbers into arrays.
    I want to say: Put all numbers from 0 to 10 into newArray[0]. Put all numbers from 10 to 35 into newArray[1] ....
    In the end I need a two - dimensional array with numbers. Is this possible in LabView ? Can it be done in acceptable speed ?
    Thank you for your help

    While I haven't figured out a way to do this efficiently, the attached
    shows a method of doing it number by number.  Perhaps the most
    efficient may be to insert Matlab code and use a sort function, or
    equivalent in c.
    To use this to sort multiple numbers, put inside a for loop and build up an array. (also see attached).

  • How to put userinfo into session?

    Hi everyone:
    I have a login page.I want to put all the user information into user's session if the user logon successfully.How can I do it?
    I means that if the user input the "name" and "password" is correct then put the user's address,age,registetime,city,lastname ..etc into user's session.
    Thks.

    Hi,
    just create class(bean) User with any of these name, age... setter and getter methods and put it into session. So, during the session you will have one user in your hand.
    Then you'll be able to use user.getAge() user.setAge and all that stuff and what is the most important - you will have ONE session variable.
    Using beans you can make very smart application.
    good luck

  • A simple question about putting something into a double

    Hi, I am trying to write a program that takes a numerical form of the date (IE. 1/31 or 4/22) and have to output it so that is says January 31, or March 22. My question is, is it possible to put that into an array or a double, and ignore the /? I have it set up so it works as a string, but I can't figure out how to do it with a double.

    You mean ask the user to put them in seperatly like this?
    System.out.println("Enter month");
    month = keyboard.nextInt();
    System.out.println("Enter day.");
    day = keyboard.nextInt();
    That works, but I want to be able to break up the string 2/22 and store the 2 in an int, and the 22 in an int. I can't figure out how to do it. I figured out how to store a single number, like the first 2. What I did is use the charAt command on the string, and then typecast it into a int, but how would you do it for the 22, or and 11 and such?
    for the record, here is how i did the char thing.
    char d1;
    d1 = numDate.charAt(3);
    day = (int)d1;

  • DAQ Input Signal into Array

    Hi,
    I have an input (voltage) signal comming into my DAQ assistant (6008). This information displays well into a chart, but I also want to covert the same data into array format so that I can do further calculations. So, basically I would like to put a DAQ signal into an array. I'm having a lot of trouble doing so, please help,
    thank you
    Nick

    Hello Nick,
    I can use the function "From DDT" in the Function palette Express -> Signal Manipulation.
    When you place it on the block diagram, a windows opens and you can configure: 1D Array of Scalar - Automatic.
    Best regard

  • Put strings into a Vector

    Does anyone know how to put strings into a vector here is my code to put some names of files into one.
    Vector machines = new Vector();
    String dir = "F:\\APPS\\SPCII\\DATA\\";
    File directory = new File(dir);
    machines.addElement (directory.list());
    But when I print the vector, it only prints the address.
    Thanks

    list() returns a String[] array. if you store it in an array, say
    String[] dirlist=directory.list(); you can use dirlist.length and a for loop to enter the elements of the array one by one into the vector

  • Which index values can be sent to "Insert Into Array" without changing the present array ? E.g. index -1 ?

    Which index values can be sent to "Insert Into Array" without changing the present array ? E.g. index -1 ?
    Could not find this info via the "Context Help" window.

    If you have to handle situations where you do not want to insert something in an array, then you can either use a negative index value as you suggested, or put the insert node in a case structure, with the "do not insert" case empty (almost...just crossed by the array wire!..)
