iBook g4 only sleeps on battery power. Other than putting never sleep in the energy saver what else can be done?

Do you mean it will only go to sleep when running from the battery? Or do you mean it won't do anything except sleep when running from the battery?
You could try resetting the PMU. The PMU has control over the Sleep function, so resetting it may help.

  • Cancel the print spooler jobs

Can i delete the Print spooler jobs through command prompt or through any program with out stopping printspooler services.

Hello, I think you can not delete spooler jobs without stop spooller service. Otherwise, If you try to delete queue, you will see "This files using another software etc." error message. You can try below cmd.
    R.
    net stop spooler
    DEL %systemroot%\system32\spool\printers\*.shd
    DEL %systemroot%\system32\spool\printers\*.spl
    net start spooler

  • 10.4.3: My PB G4 is put to sleep all the time!

After upgrading to 10.4.3 I have big trouble with my quite new PB G4 1,67 with 1,5 G RAM.
Now and then it will go crazy and put it self to sleep. When I try to wake it it will go to sleep again, and again and so on. A restart can temporarily solve the problem for a while, but then - BOM - sleep again... and again and again...
    Very annoying!
I have tried lots of stuff to solve this:
    1. Repaired all file-rights
    2. Checked the Energy savings; it will go to sleep even when I set it up to NEVER go to sleep...
    3. Reset PRAM
    4. Reset PMU
    5. Cleared NVRAM
    6. Checked the system.log, it says:
    kernel[0]: System Sleep
    kernel[0]: System Wake
over and over again, and no indication of why or what triggered the sleep.
    7. Installed a temperature program (Temperature Monitor) to see if the computer was too hot or any sensors where broken. But found nothing, and the computer will go to sleep even when its cold.
    8. Reinstalled the system twice (Archive and install) Even had problem when only using 10.4.0 - before any updates.
    9. Ran Hardware test, all passed.
After all these actions I figured it was time to leave the computer at a Apple workshop, but they couldn't find anything and suggested it could be the extra 1 GB memory module. I took it out and everything worked for a while, but now the problem is back!
I then tried to start another account "test", but it wouldn't help either.
All I can think of now is that the memory module of 512 MB that came with the computer maybe is loose or something, will try to refit it tomorrow.
Or could it be the hard drive that is falling apart? (I dont have anything connected to the computer on USB or Firewire).
Am I the only one with this problem? Suggestions? Any help would be useful!
    Thanks in advance.
    PB G4 1,67   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Mogge,
Not sure if this is related, but my 2.0G G5 PowerMac puts itself to sleep too. The differences being that it only starts happening after I have used the Sleep function once, and it started happening around 10.4.2, but it then shows the same symptoms you are seeing.
I never queried it because I don't have to use Sleep on the PowerMac, I was just trying it when found this out.
Hope you get this problem resolved, and maybe my info will help spark someones brain into life!
    Steve

  • I have had my old iPhone 4S unlocked by my provider. I have given the phone to my husband and we want to erase my data and get him an Apple ID so he can put his data on the iPhone  will this lock the phone?

I have had my iPhone 4S unlocked by my provider. I am successfully using a monthly plan and a new SIM card. I have given the iPhone to my husband. We would like to erase my data so my husband can add his and use the Cloud to back up his data. If we go through the erase process what is the safest way to do this so we don't re-lock the phone and disable the current SIM card?

    Hi
If it was unlocked legitimately it will never relock. As you said you have sent this to your carrier to unlock this will always be unlocked however many times you restore the phone.
    Hope this helps

  • Computer is not communicating with the printer

We recently bought our first wireless printer about 2 months ago, HP Envy 7640 e all in one printer.  It was connected and working fine. We have since moved and the computer is recognizing the printer, but it is not communicating.  I have tried everything.  Any suggestions??

    Hey @JessandMarie,
Welcome to the HP Support Forum.
I understand you're encountering a connectivity issue with your HP ENVY 7640 e-All-in-One Printer.  I would like to assist you with this.
Since you have moved, it is more than likely that you're now connected to a different wireless network.  Or at the very least, if you're using the same hardware, your IP address will be different from whatever it was when you first installed your printer on your computer.  To put it another way, the printer software on your computer is looking to connect with your printer at an IP address that is most likely not active, hence the communication issue.
What operating system are you working with?  I have common steps for both Windows and Mac users that may help. However, if my recommended troubleshooting flow falls short of a resolution, please respond to this post with your operating system version.
Firstly, from your printer's front panel, touch the icon.  If it's indicating wireless connectivity and is displaying an IP address you are connected.  If you're not connected, run the Wireless Setup Wizard, select your network name (SSID) and input your wireless password.  If you do not know your network name and password, click here for instructions on how to locate it using both Windows and Mac setups.
Once you have established wireless connectivity, uninstall your printer driver (if you're not sure how click here), and then click here to reinstall (you will need to select the version that's corresponding to your operating system).
Let me know how this works out for you.  If you need any further assistance I'm always happy to help.
    Have a great weekend!

  • Cannot get the printer to print

I bought the printer last week, and set it up without a problem. It was working fine. I test printed it with both Google Cloud print, and eprint, and they both worked fine. Then, 2 days later, when I went to print something I actually needed, it would not print.
Upon looking at the printer via website, it says that the jobs are being sent, but its just simply saying Failed. It is not giving any explanation. I have reset the printer to factory default, then reset all of the settings, and I still cannot get it to print. I have reset my computer, my router, unpluged and repluged everything, and still cannot get it.
I have an HP Photosmart 7525. Please help. O_O

If you haven't already tried, it might be worth removing web services from the printer and then re-enabling it. This will generate a new ePrint code for your printer. Then try removing your printer from your ePrintCenter account and adding a new one using the newly generated code. Removing and reinstalling web services is done from the printer front panel.
    Hope this helps.

  • Sleeping iMac after install/uninstall of applications

I'm going to me receiving my first iMac in the next few days.
Presently on my Windows computer. A lot of the time when I have installed or uninstalled programs, I am shown on the screen that I need to restart my computer.
I was wondering if this is the same on Mac?
Also. I've read many posts that say its advisable to put a Mac to sleep (most of the time) rather than shutting it down everytime I would have finished using it. In light of this, if I install or uninstall an application on my iMac, would it be still OK to put the iMac to sleep or would it be advisable to shut the iMac down instead after I'd finished using it?
    Thanks in advance.

Most of the apps don't need to restart your Mac to complete their installation, but there are others that have to restart the Mac, so it happens with Macs, but less frequently.
We recommend to put the Mac to sleep because the start will be faster and your Mac in sleep doesn't consume more energy
Thanks for the help mende1, its much appreciated.
You mention that "there are others that have to restart the Mac". I assume that with any such applications, that I would be notified that I would need to restart my iMac?
    Thanks again

My iMac is connected to a Brother printer. I have Snow Leopard 10.7.3 As of yesterday, when I try to print a PDF it prints as a blank black page. Does anyone know how to correct this so that the PDF will print as I see it on screen?

If you are running Mac OS X 10.7.3 then you have Lion installed, not Snow Leopard. It's probably not important to this discussion, but something you should be aware of.
What application are you printing the PDF files from? Have you tried opening the PDF file using the Preview application that can be found in the Applications folder? Does the issue still occur? Have you tried other PDF files from a different source?
Another poster in the following discussion thread reported that this method resolved their black blank PDF issue when viewing (and presumably printing) PDF files from Safari.

There's a solution if you want to see the PDF inside Safari's window :
Go to the folder : Your Hard Drive / Library / Internet Plug-ins.
If you see a file with PDF in its name drag it to the trash.
Quit and restart Safari to test with a PDF.
If it works you can empty the trash.
