PXI 6602 and encoder reading with two counters
I'm reading three encoders with 2000 pulses for each revolution with a PXI 6602. As the loads are connected to the motors through a transmission ratio of 200 I need to count both the encoder pulses in each revolution and the number of revolutions.
I think I could use one counter, with the standard connections, to count the number of pulses in each revolution and another counter, with the source connected to the Z index signal and the up/down connected to the B channel, to count the number of revolutions.
Does somebody know if there is a simpler solution or a solution that needs only one counter?

You can do this with one counter. Since you know the relationship between counts and revs (2000:1), you don't really have to count the index pulse separately. Just take the total count and divide by by the counts per rev. The quotient is the number of revs and the remainder is the position within a particular revolution. Make sure to turn off Z indexing with Counter Set Attribute (attribute 20), so that the counter does not reset each revolution.
Take a look at the NI-DAQ shipping examples in LabVIEW 6.1\examples\daq\counter\ni-tio.llb or at the example linked below. Just add the division operation to get the number of revs.

According to USB specification, I can connect up to 127 usb devices to a single USB controller. Hence USB hubs are addressable devices they will reduce the number of total target devices (RFID readers) I want to connect.
There are two more constraints:
1) Bandwidth of USB port
2) Power consumption of devices connected to USB hub
1) Usually single RFID reader utilizes 5-10% of a total bandwidth. So the maximum number of RFID readers working concurrently (!) is 20-10. In my application there will be 7-8 concurrently working readers maximum.
2) Power consumption is not an issue if you use powered(!) USB hubs. When you use powered USB hubs all the power is not going from USB controller, but from an external source (each powered USB hub has its own power supplier).
Also all the RFID readers that I connect are located in a range of 2-3 meters from a PC, so I have no problem with possible interferences.
Why should I use TCP/IP in this case?

When you plug in your charger and attach it to the MBP, initially the light will turn green. If the MBP needs charging, a few seconds later the light will turn amber. That is normal. If your symptoms are different, then they may or may not be a problem.

Problem Counting A and B Encoder Signals on Two Counters.
Hi All,
I have an existing LabVIEW program that uses three counters to measure A, B and Z signals of the encoder. I can read these signals separately if I hook only one of them to the PCI 6602. If I hook up A and B, I will get intermitten correct reading for signal A. I will always get the correct reading for signal B. Is there a problem of trying to measure these signals using separate counters? This program basically tries to measure the time between the different edges. There isn't any documentation, so I am not even sure which board this application was written for. Although, there is an analog input section of this code. I even tried the counter for the 6502E board. I get the same problem. I am not sure if the physical channels constants in the program is correct. Has anyone run into this problem before?

After looking over your code for measuring a encoder, I would suggest performing this acquistion in a different way. The reason why is that it is not advisable to create and clear or start and stop in a while loop. In order to get around this, here are some ideas I had:
1.) Use the Counter Input Angular Encoder Task. This task will allow you to record the encoder measurements so that you don't have to program this yourself. I would suggest starting with Measure Angular Position.vi example in LabVIEW. In order to specify the PFI lines for the A, B, Z terminals, there is a channel property node under Counter Input » Encoder for A, B, and Z terminals.
2.) If you want to record each signal, you have enough counters to do this. There is a VI called DAQmx Connect Terminals that will connect PFI lines together. In doing this, you can connect your three signals to three PFI lines but have them go to multiple counters. I have current tested this with an Angular Encoder task with a Two edge Separation and it works perfectly
Note: You will need to look at the Device Routes for the PCI-6602 to ensure that you are sending the signal to the correct place. Another caveat about connecting PFI lines together you will have to disconnect them when you are done. If you don't they will always be connected. This can be done by reseting the device using the DAQmx Reset Device.vi or the DAQmx Disconnect Terminals.

0x1) is there a way to disable annoying autoplay feature in windows media player: when i play music in "now playing" mode and insert a disc which contains some video WMP stops playing music and asks me to play that disc or starts playing without any questions (e.g. when i insert DVD). in addition when WMP asks before playing it proposes three options: resume playing, go to library and play previous list. choosing "resume playing" you'll not resume the music just played, you'll start playing inserted disc. if you choose "play previous list", it also won't continue the playlist i was just playing, rather a playlist or track before the one i was just playing! very strange behaviour, isn't it?
note that this happends only in "now playing" mode, when library is active everything works fine.
please don't tell to go to control panel and change autoplay settings: it takes no effect. it works when WMP is not started or if WMP is not in "now playing" mode, otherwise WMP ignores that settings and demonstrates his "very intellectual"automatic playing.
0x2) when playing FLAC files windows media player doesn't show progress indicator, it always is positioned at the beginning (or at the place where you've positioned it). if i select multiple FLAC files and click "play with windows media player" it will play only the last file from the selected list.
0x3) when playing AVI files with two or more audio tracks WMP plays only one of them and gives no opportunity to change autio track. in wmp of vista it plays all the audio tracks at the same time (!).
If there is no solution for these problems, please tell me where i can send a feedback about my complaints?i use K-Lite 5.2 full codec pack. in the k-lite codec tweak tool report i see madFLAC.ax installed. i'll try the Xiph.org filters.

Correlated analog and encoder readings with M-series

My goal is to collect synchronized (correlated) analog and encoder readings to provide position-based voltage and current information.
First question is regarding the potential alternatives and which is the best approach between these options:
1) A single task that reads required analog and counter information into the same buffer, seems easy to align the data using this approach.
2) A task to read analog data and a second task to read counter information, complicated by the need to reliably align the informatio from seperate buffers.
Next question is simple: can the PCI-6220 read 2 seperate encoders?
Hopefully, last question: where can I find documentation about where to connect A, B, and Z? So far all my searches have resulted in E series or 6602 counter examples and nothing on M series.

First of all, option one is not actually an option because you cannot have one task acquire two different types of data (eg analog and counter data). Therefore, option two is the way to go. It is not as hard as it seems. You can use Channel Z to trigger the analag input channels and once the analog and counter channels are triggered at the same time their data will automatically be aligned.

You are right, it is difficult to find out where to connect channels A, B, and Z! The easiest to find this information is to create an NI-DAQmx counter Task in MAX (Measurement and Automation Explorer). Once you have followed all of the steps to create the task you will see the task information in the middle of the screen. There will be a settings tab and inside this tab it will tell you what pins to connect A, B and Z to. I went ahead and created tasks for ctr 0 and 1 in MAX to get the information on which pins to connect to A, B, and Z.
For ctr0: For ctr1:
A: PFI8 PFI3
B: PFI10 PFI11
Z: PFI9 PFI4

This is complex. Until today we had one iMac with two user accounts - one for me and the other for my wife. We sync'd our calendars and contacts between our two user accounts using my iCloud account, thereby keeping our schedules coordinated and our contacts information always the same between us. Also, as I had an iPhone, I sync'd my phone with my iCloud account, thereby keeping the contacts and calendars in the two user accounts on the iMac AND my iPhone sync'd. (I also sync'd other things, like Notes and Mail and Safari settings, between my iPhone and my user account on the iMac, but my wife did not want to be burdened with all my emails showing up in her email account and I wasn't interested in hers, etc., so we didn't sync anything between us other than calendars and contacts.)
We've finally bought my wife an iPhone and set up an iCloud account for her. And of course she now wants to sync several items from HER account on our iMac to HER iPhone, but I don't want them, just as she doesn't want all of my other stuff. But we still want our mutual calendars and contacts to sync to HER new iPhone, just like they already do to mine. But I can't figure out how to CHANGE her iMac user account from using MY iCloud account on the iMac to using HER new iCloud account, and then having HER iCloud account speak to MY iCloud account but share JUST our calendars and contacts.
Originally I tried a workaround by simply having her iPhone log into my iCloud account. That works great for the calendars and the contacts. But...she can't sync anything else from her iMac account to her new iPhone because she's presently "forced" to use my iCloud account. And neither of us want to sync our other things to each other's iMac accounts or iPhones. Also as we're both using my iCloud account, in things like the Find My iPhone app, the Cloud is seeking two phones labeled with my name and none with her's. So we definitely don't want this as the set-up and communications network between our devices.
We want to set up our users on the iMac to sync to our SEPARATE AND DIFFERENT iCloud accounts and then have those iCloud accounts sync calendars and contacts (ONLY) between themselves, and then push that data to our separate iPhones (or the other way, from either of our iPhones to the individual accounts on our iMac and the other person's iPhone). Does this description make sense to you? I've diagramed it nicely using Keynote, but even thiough I can draw it, I can't figure out how to set up and configure all the devices to make it work. I had the same problem, and decided to look into it last night.
First of all, the solution I would like to have is for Apple to allow for selection of iCloud accounts per application, i.e. Contacts to one, Photo Stream to another. I believe this would be the most straight forward solution for the problem we are facing.
Since this is not an option I came up with a workaround. I was most interested in solving this for Contacts, so this is what I tested for. Now I have all 3 devices with the same contacts.
1) Turn off iCloud for Contacts on all devices. On the device that has the Contacts list that you would like to propagate to all others select to keep the contacts, and on the others select not to keep them.
Note that the current backups still exist on iCloud, so in case something goes wrong you can still turn the iCloud for Contacts back on to get your current Contacts back.
2) In iTunes, sync All Contacts with the phones, starting with the one with the Contacts content you chose to keep.
From this point on, the 3 devices should sync contacts with each other.
This, of course, will stop your iCloud backups of Contacts, but I don't think this is really needed. You are already storing copies of your Conacts on 3 devices, which for good parts of the day are likely not all co-located. You also potentially have Time Machine backups turned on, which would mean there is a 4th copy there as well. For the case of Contacts iCloud only complicates matter ... that is until Apple implements the solution I first wrote about. -

i have one scenario that advance payment and down payment with different tax code.
in this time, advance payement post to vendor with po number, we do not know how to use tax code V1(deductable tax) or VF(Non-deductable tax), so we post advance payement amount by tax code V1(deductable) even though the amount included both. but we must know how amount is defined deductable tax or non-deductable tax when invoice.
when we want to post down payment with VF , we could not post it because advance payement posted with V1 tax code.
this is main problem with my scenario.
and as i know, can i post two advance payement to same vendor and same po item?, i can't do it with my system.
only one advacne payment is possible with one vendor and one po item. or amount of advance payment is all cleared by down payment, then i can post another advance payment to same vendor. is it standard process with po?

As per my knowledge their is no difference between advance payment and downpayment.
and tax code is used for taxes purpose not for the payment terms.
taxcode is created in ftxp.and related percentages are maintained in fv11.
ex:-
if i want excise duty - 10% on basic value
education cesse 2% on excise duty
sec.education cesses 1% on excise duty
then fitst i have to create 3 condition types and that 3 condition types are used in my taxprocedure and that taxprocedure is assigned to country code..
after that i am created one taxcode in ftxp like v1= exciseduty10%educatiocess2%sec.edu.cesses1% with this description.
and given the values for that conditions in fv11.
and used that v1 taxcode in your p.o in invoice tab.
and payment terms are came from vendor not from taxcode.

How Can I use 2 Macs and a PC with two monitors
This is for my office at work.
I currently am using dual monitors and sharing those between a G4 and a PC. I'm using a Belkin switch box for the two computers. I'm adding a Mac Pro. I'm thinking I might use the Mac Pro by itself at another workstation but I would like to use it at my current workstation along with my other machines.
I'm getting a new 23" monitor with the Mac Pro. I want to use it as my main monitor, then use one of my other monitors as a second screen. Is it possible to use two monitors with 3 computers? I would have to use the new keyboard and mouse (both will be standard, not wireless) on both of the macs and use the PC keyboard and mouse.

JimI would use the new Mac Pro as the main workstation and attach your mouse, keyboard and your new monitor to it.
Then use the Belkin Switch Box to connect 1 monitor to the G4 and PC.
Download and configure 'Synergy' (http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/) on the new Mac Pro (as the primary) and the G4 and PC (as secondary) - This will allow you to deal with only one keyboard and mouse.
I'm with Malcolm, I would download and install VMware Fusion. VM the PC w/ Converter (http://www.vmware.com/products/converter/) and only deal with the new Mac Pro and G4. With the new Mac Pro, you can fire up the PC VM with 2 cores and have it set to a secondary space. You will not notice the difference. -
Drivers assistance required for graphics card and fingerprint reader with W8 & Pavilion DV7-6B01ED
Hi - I own a HP Pavilion DV7-6B01ED and recently upgraded from W7 Home Premium to W8 Pro. Everything appeared to work fine except for the graphics card I have which now seems to always be on with the fan running, getting hot and running down the battery much more than before. I can not confirm what was reported as the graphics card in W7, but it is reported as the AMD 7000M after the upgrade. My invoice reports that it is a HD6490. Further to this, W8 reported an issue with this device in Device Manager.
Due to another issue (not hardware related) I decided to do a clean install of W8 which would also let me clean things up and to re-partition my disk.
In doing so I deleted the HP_TOOLS and the Recovery partitions. I'm not against recreating these but needed to delete them as I had 4 primary partitions and could not work within the restriction that comes with this. I understood from reading online that these can be recreated and the necessary tools re-installed (or another solution with DVD / USB employed). If the solution to my problems requires these to be installed, I'm happy to do so.
After the clean install, I continue to have the graphics card issue (same details as above) and the other issue I have is with the fingerprint reader. It shows up as an unknown device after W8 install (it did not have any issues after the initial upgrade I performed though).
So I've done plenty of things to try to rectify the issue and this includes installing the HP Support Assistant in the hope that this would help with the drivers. Instead of going through all the steps I've undertaken (I've read plenty in this HP forum and outside of the forum) and used certain W7 drivers, installed this that or the other program but unfortunately to no avail. I cannot get the fingerprint reader working and I still have a very hot and noisy laptop.
I'm good enough with OS and device driver installations and happy to get stuck into some unorthodox solutions if needs be. What can I do to resolve these issues?
Regarding the graphics card - is it a case that AMD have yet to release an updated driver? If so, I can live with that but in the meantime I would like to turn off the AMD card and work only with the integrated Intel graphics. Disabling the device in Device Manager does not seem to work. How do I do that?
The fingerprint reader is no big deal, but ideally I would like it working. What to do here?
If I need to do a re-install of W8 again and then get stuck into the driver installations I'm good with that, but would like to do it in a manner that will let me resolve these issues in the future without too much hassle.
The spec of my machine is: HP DV7-6B01ED 17.3FHD / i5-2430 / 8GB / 750GB HDD / HD6490

OK, so I thought the AMD driver worked. I had installed it before I posted to the forum but then the problem seemed to have returned. I'll have to play with the settings because just as I type this the fan has started for no reason, same problem as before. Is there any chance Windows Updates in interfering?
Regarding the fingerprint reader - it hasn't helped. In Device Manager I now see Biometric Devices > Validity Sensors (WBF) (PID=0018). Is there some further software I require in order to use the device. I'm going to install SimplePass to see if that's needed.

Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created. If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.

Using both Dynamic and Static NAT with two Different Internet facing Subnets
We have two Class C Public Address subnets. We started with Subnet (A) and have many of our Internet accessible devices on it. It is running on a Cisco PIX 515R. We bought a new ASA 5510 8.3(2) and started Migrating the Users and new servers to it so I started with our second Class C Subnet (B). Later on down the road I found out that if the Firewalls Default Gateway is is set to a (B) Interface subnet, then the servers that are statically mapped to a (A) Address will have a (B) address when they communicate out to the internet. So they are receiving packets on their (A) Address, though replying to them with a (B) address.
It was mentioned that I should be able to combine static and dynamic NAT mapping to allow devices behind the firewall to have a fixed external Address when communicating outbound as well as inbound.
So For instance I want the Following: when the Internal Replies I want the reply to come from the mapped IP, not a IP from the Dynamic Pool.

We have a Single ISP, though have 2 separate non-Contiguous Class C Addresses from them. We host some Servers on one subnet and some on the other.
I'm looking for a way to use both Subnets on the same ASA.

CS4 and Mac Pro with two graphic cards: OpenGL not supported!
I have two graphic cards in my Mac Pro. If a use a dual display setup where both displays are connected to the same card, Photoshop enables OpenGL support (Preferences > Performance).
Switch both displays to the other card, also works fine.
BUT if I connect one display to the first card and the second display to the second card (so each display has its own graphic card) the Open GL support is greyed out (I can not longer use canvas display rotation for example)
This doesn't make sense to me and looks like a bug...Are you running two of the same cards or are they different? I'm running a pair of NVidia 7300GTs with no issues...and I'm driving a pair of 30" Cinemas and an NEC 26" widescreen. I get better performance on the single 30" than on the card with the two displays. Also note that which PCI slot you are driving the cards in has an impact on their performance...something to look into.
