    but I checked my java version following this steps:
    1a - In Windows, Classic View, open the Control Panel and then double-click the Java icon.
    1b - In Category View, select the Other Control Panel Options, and then click the Java icon.
    2- In the Java Control Panel window click the Java tab, and then click View.
    3 - In the Platform column, make sure that version 1.5 or higher exists and that it is enabled.

  • Rollback and UNDO

    Hi,
    I'm confuse about Rollback and Undo concepts, can some one explain it to me please?
    Felipe :)

    This is a copy of a previous post I made some time ago:
    There might be confusion while undo and rollback segment terms are used interchangeably in db world. It is due to the compatibility issue of oracle.
    Undo
    Oracle Database must have a method of maintaining information that is used to roll back, or undo, changes to the database. Such information consists of records of the actions of transactions, primarily before they are committed. These records are collectively referred to as undo.
    Undo records are used to:
    * Roll back transactions when a ROLLBACK statement is issued
    * Recover the database
    * Provide read consistency
    * Analyze data as of an earlier point in time by using Flashback Query
    When a ROLLBACK statement is issued, undo records are used to undo changes that were made to the database by the uncommitted transaction. During database recovery, undo records are used to undo any uncommitted changes applied from the redo log to the datafiles. Undo records provide read consistency by maintaining the before image of the data for users who are accessing the data at the same time that another user is changing it.
    Undo vs Rollback
    Earlier releases of Oracle Database used rollback segments to store undo. Oracle9i introduced automatic undo management, which simplifies undo space management by eliminating the complexities associated with rollback segment management. Oracle strongly recommends (Oracle 9i and on words) to use undo tablespace (automatic undo management) to manage undo rather than rollback segments.
    To see the undo management mode and other undo related information of database-
    SQL> show parameter undo
    NAME TYPE VALUE
    undo_management string AUTO
    undo_retention integer 900
    undo_tablespace string UNDOTBS1
    Since the advent of Oracle9i, less time-consuming and suggested way is—using Automatic Undo Management—in which Oracle Database creates and manages rollback segments (now called “undo segments”) in a special-purpose undo tablespace. Unlike with rollback segments, we don’t need to create or manage individual undo segments—Oracle Database does that for you when you create the undo tablespace. All transactions in an instance share a single undo tablespace. Any executing transaction can consume free space in the undo tablespace, and when the transaction completes, its undo space is freed (depending on how it’s been sized and a few other factors, like undo retention). Thus, space for undo segments is dynamically allocated, consumed, freed, and reused—all under the control of Oracle Database, rather than manual management by someone.
    Switching Rollback to Undo
    1. We have to create an Undo tablespace. Oracle provides a function (10g and up) that provides information on how to size new undo tablespace based on the configuration and usage of the rollback segments in the system.
    DECLARE
    utbsiz_in_MB NUMBER;
    BEGIN
    utbsiz_in_MB ;= DBMS_UNDO_ADV.RBU_MIGRATION;
    end;
    CREATE UNDO TABLESPACE UNDOTBS
    DATAFILE ‘/oradata/dbf/undotbs_1.dbf’
    SIZE 100M AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 10M
    MAXSIZE UNLIMITED RETENTION NOGUARANTEE;
    Note: In undo tablespace creation, “SEGMENT SPACE MANAGEMENT AUTO” can not be set
    2.Change system parameters
    SQL> alter system set undo_retention=900 scope=both;
    SQL> alter system set undo_tablespace=UNDOTBS scope=both;
    SQL> alter system set undo_management=AUTO scope=spfile;
    SQL> shutdown immediate
    SQL> startup
    UNDO_MANAGEMENT is a static parameter. So database needs to be restarted.

  • How to Store word doc in java using oracle9i

    hi
    my name is jagapathi raju i whant a pice of code that will help me to store word doc in oracle9i please do this for me
    bye

    i whant a pice of code that will help me to store word doc in oracle9i please do > this for me Nope, imagine we are consultants who just provide you with a direction to your
    investigation.
    There's a few approachs...
    1. You store the entire word document ( or any arbitrary binary file ) in a BLOB
    field. ( binary large object ).
    Have a search for Oracle, JDBC and BLOB.
    2. You somehow extract the text from the Word document, losing all formating,
    and store the text in a database field. ( CLOB ) Character large object.

  • How to store a large document in Oracle9i using CLOB!?

    Hi all,
    I want to store a large document(about 10mb) in Oracle9i using SQL*PLUS. How to store it using CLOB in Oracle9i!?
    What the necessary steps to perform!?
    Thanks

    Just use the report's CUID or ID for the iDocID parameter, and give all necessary users the appropriate rights to the inbox where the report is located.
    repoType is a legacy parameter, this will have no effect.

    Both. I deployed the application under the IAS (902) and a standalone (903)environment. The IAS (port 7777) an the standalone oc4j (port 8888) is running with the same error.

  • Store MS word document in oracle9i as XML

    hi,
    I need to store Microsoft Word Documents in oracle 9i and I am thinking to store it as XML file. I am new to XML, can anybody give me some idea how to achieve this? More specificlly, how do I convert a word document to XML before I save it to the database and later how do I retrieve it and convert it back to word document or other format(such as .pdf document etc)?
    Besides storing the word document as XML file, are there any other ways to store it in the oracle 9i database? Is oracle 9i internet file system or interMedia a good solution too? Anybody had experience with this?

    Thanks, steven.
    My application requires "storing lots of documents, each associated with a standard record in an application". Is
    this the senario you have?
    What is SCM/Designer? Could you point me to some reference on how to use them? You mentioned "synchronized with the File System and are held as BLOBS", does that mean the word document will be stored in both places, database as BLOB and file system as file? In my case, I only want to store in database.
    I agree with you that "converting XML only adds another step in the process", but I am not sure about "probably vastly increasing the data to store!", my original thought is storing as XML instead of Word Document will save me a lot of storage space because XML is just text file, also the database retrieval will be faster. As I said I am totally new to XML, so I may be wrong.

    I hav bypassed this web service by hardcoding in the code where it has been called.
    Today again I try to run the application, The Shipping Web service worked fine but only once then again the same error got displayed!
    I think it's all due to the proxy authentication code that it goes in a loop !
    Mike, I hav cleaned the deployment files before redeploying the application.
    As far as the "WS-demo=...." etc files which u ver referring to.. I think it's due to the profile dependencies in the deployment profile for the WS-demo app where all the web services deployment are checked. I had unchecked that option since i deployed al the web services individually.
    Please anyone has any clue what's wrong.
    I tried deploying a simple web service in Oracle9iAS Rel 2 and try to access that through a JSP deployed in standalone OC4J. Ther also it hanged ? Is it due to proxy authentication. Is there some additional procedure for deploying web service to Oracle9iAS?
    Please reply ASAP !!

  • Build Online Store with Oracle9i Web Services

    Is there a limit on the number of times you can run
    the Demo. I set-up the demo and had it working.
    After a number of runs on the demo I started to
    get an error message after clicking on SUBMIT CART.
    ( Connection refused [java.net.ConnectException] )
    Thanks
    Alan J. Gagne

    Hi,
    There is no limit on the number of times you can run this demo.
    Just check, if your database is up, and the OC4J is running properly. If it runs, at begining, there shouldn't be any problem while runing thereafter. If you still face any problem, please describe more abt your error.
    Cheers,

    The user that owns the cubes and dimensions must have the role OLAP_USER so that the OLAP API can view the required information which is actually stored in a series of tables owned by the user OLAPSYS. This schema is usually referred to as the CWM catalog. I think the OLAP documentation explains the views that are part of this schema.
    At risk of being rude - why are you creating a relational model? It is much easier to store your model within an 10g R2 Analytic Workspace. This is much more performant and provides greater functionality compared to ROLAP solution.
    Watch out for Enterprise Manager (OEM) when deleting cubes and dimensions. I have had some very bad experiences with OEM not removing all the elements of a dimension or cube from the CWM catalog, even though the nodes in the OEM navigator tree do not show any dimensions or cubes.
    Then when you try to connect to an OLAP schema with BI Beans you got some very serious java exception errors relating to corrupt metadata. At this point you have to use the OLAP PL/SQL packages to clean up the CWM catalog to remove all the invalid dimensions and cubes. It is not that difficult to do just takes a bit of time.
    Hope this helps

    I want to generate required DDL statements for PSAPROLL Tablespace/Rollback Segments as Backup/recovery purpose, before converting it into PSAPUNDO.
    Its easy to find & store required DDL statements using OEM. But, I am not able to locate oemapp  (under $ORACLE_HOME/bin directory) application in the installation.

    I want to start OEM in HP_UX system, if it is possible.
    otherwise,
    I want to know the other alternatives to generate the required DDL statements.

    On windows Platform it is very easy to get DDL info for any object of database.
    But, I was not able to start OEM in HP_UX system.

  • Oracle9i jdbc on linux with Sun App Server7

    Hello all,
    I'm having trouble setting up oracle9i jdbc drivers on linux. I downloaded ojdbc14.jar from oracle's download site and put it in sun/domains/domain1/lib. I also added the jar file in the server classpath suffix, but somehow the connections are not going through. I wrote a simple java test application to test the drivers and that works perfectly. It's just the server that's not being able to connect for some reason. Any ideas? I use thin connection.
