Q10 Keyboard issue

I just got my BB Q10 in November, just least than 3 months, my keyboard is already not working properly.  The "R" key is too sensitive, it will type "r" even without pressing down the actual key.

You will need to contact Telus for warranty service on the device.

My Q10 keyboard is now randomly inserting a zero when I type.  This device is not yet one year old.  It replaced a previous Q10 which was randomly inserting an "oh" "O" to the extend that it became unsuable, so was replaced.  Now the same thing is starting to happen with a new Q10 but a different charater.  Is there a problem with keyboard?  This is too much of a conincidence for me.

    About me:
    * A  am a heavy Blackberry user and developer since the 7200.
    * I Love BB Keyboard because it's a workhorse, it just gets thinks done faster.
    My Feedback:
    * Q10 is still missing lots of the keyboard Magic of the 9900
    How Can this be done....
    #1 Home Screen Shortcuts
Long Press for phone speed dial, one key press for app shortcuts
    Details
    1. Just like we always had long press any key for speed dial
    2. Give us the option to have the home screen function like a live search (as it works now)
or we can assign each key to a program of our choice (and use the "s" to launch the live search), like it was on the 9900, but make it better where we can choose what program gets launched using what key (before it was hardcoded and was not changeable by the user)
The current option in the search  is nice (like "bbm mark") but does not replace the direct key to program shortcut.  (it's not a conflict you can have both)
    #2 Email Advanced/Saved Search
Message Advanced Search, with its Saved Search option linked to a hot key.
    Details
on the 9900 if I wanted to search all my unread email from client "X"
    1. Press M from the home screen (to open my email box)
    2. Press Alt+O (or any saved key) from the message list (to bring up a saved search..)
that took me less than 2 seconds,
Now try doing that on the Q10 and let me know how many keys you have to press, and more
important how long it will take you!! Actually you can't even do it since you can only search for 1 item at a time, I can't search for all emails where the "from address" is [email protected] and the subject contains "call me" etc.
    How it should work..
    1. Just Bring back what we had in os7
    #3 Forward conditions
Forward conditions for mail box (what should be sent to device)
on the 9900 I was able to chose to forwarded or not to forward email based on a condition or to have it come in as a level1 email,  Bring back what we had in os7
    #4 Email Body view
    Html email view.
give me an option to show email in fit with mode, now it does not always fit and may be to wide.
    #5 Black Background.
Black Background in calendar (and other) app.. its impossible to see my calendar outside in the sun
I understand you made it black to save battery life.. give me the choice to make it white and have a less battery life.
    #6 Bedside mode
Bedside mode has no option to automatically go into airplane mode automatically (like we had in os7)
    #7 Auto on/off
Auto on/off based on day or weekend..
Bring back what we had in os7
    #8 Note List Search
Note list  (now "reminder") missing search option
    #9 Camera App keyboard shortcuts
Camera app has no keyboard shortcut to change flash options, change from video to picture, swap to front camera
    #10 Contact List Category
Contact list is missing filter by category
Bring back what we had in os7
#11 "Mark Prior Read" Keyboard Shortcut.
"Mark prior read" needs keyboard shortcut and is not working properly
    #12 Power standby mode
now you only have an option to fully turn off your phone, i want close my phone at night but not close all my apps... like we had in os7
This can all be done without effecting the z10 or any other phone.
    Summary
A Q10 Should not be a Z10 with a keyboard Glued on to it.
I know Blackberry put in lots of keyboard shortcuts, but they're not done yet.
I don't speak for myself, being the blackberry guy in my company
everyone comes to complain to me with all their issues..
Now please don't say.. well you can do that by pressing here and swiping there and tapping there.. let's make the Q10 keyboard work for us...
it's about getting the job done faster.. and more efficatintly
Something to think about on the next phone design,
the back key is sorely missed, it's a lot faster and more accurate then trying to get the swipe just right..
what would be a good idea for the next phone is to make a side button that can be programmed to do whatever you like, like we had till now but also can be programmed as a back button.. think about that  no loss of screen size.. and I still have my back button, you can still keep the swipe but give us the choice..)

Other people have been having similar problems with songs over a number of days, I assume that there has been a problem with Apple's servers.
Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting the incomplete tracks from your iTunes library and redownload them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if they re-downloas in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find those songs and use the 'Report a Problem' link.

  • How to recognize original Q10 keyboard?

    Hello,
Unfortunately my Q10 keyboard have double typping issue, also waranty period is over.
So I decided to buy new keyboard for my phone online.
I have just a little problem because I don't have any idea how can I  recognize original keyboard.
My question is, How can I?

Oh wait - it is there when my other keyboard is plugged in, but disapears - it's not available when I plug this keyboard in.

  • Double charactering on Q10 keyboard

I have a Q10 keyboard that often produces double characters. This seems to be an issue that I have seen in the past on other phones, but I didn't see a sensible solution posted here. A search here also doesn't produce much more that 'rants'. Is there a known solution to this problem? I think my Q10 has been experiencing this problem almost from the first time I bought it (18 months ago) but it's never been much of problem. Recently though, it seems to have gotten a bit worse. Is there any known solution?

Here is some video of it.
I don't think its a faulty sensor\screen as it's consistent and everything else works perfectly.
A single finger won't do it - nor does three - it has to be two fingers at exactly the same time

  • Hp envy 14. Keyboard issues.

    hey all,
ive been having an issue with my hp envy 14, with windows 7.  This forum seemed the most relevent, as its a keyboard issue.
So whenever I turn my laptop on the keyboard is non-functional, so I turn it on with alt f5 I believe, this gets the key board functional, I can at this point type in my user password. Next as I type in my password, the capslock button has reversed itself, so when my keyboard shows caps on, caps is off and vice versa. Also, sometimes when im using my computer, it switches between recognizing caps is on or not.
I recently wiped the laptop, so I believe the issue to be internal.
This is frustrating to put it lightly, any help appreciated.

    Hi @czrom
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are having trouble with your keyboard. I am happy to help. Please post the full product number abd operating system so I can find the correct support pages and drivers for you. Since you mentioned that you just wiped the machine it is likely that some of the drivers are missing.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?

  • MacBook Pro 13-inch Mid 2010 using Mac OS X 10.8 Keyboard Issues.

    Good day ASC,
I have a MacBook Pro 13-inch Mid 2010 upgraded to Mac OS X 10.8. It now has keyboard issues. Keys F4, 4, r, f, v, caps lock, space bar, and directional keys left and down do not work. I've been looking into the problem thinking it could be a software issue. Can anyone help?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You need to install the Windows support software in Windows to make it run properly. You have to download and install these drivers in Windows > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1630?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
After installing them, I recommend you to look for a newer GPU driver

  • Keyboard issue in Macbook Pro

    Hi,
I have a 15" MacBook Pro and today it developed a keyboard malfunction...the keys around the 'w' key (a, s, d, e) also insert a w when pressed with anything but the lightest touch...probably a bit of dirt or something in the keyboard, is there a way of getting the keyboard out to have a look? or other suggestions as to why this happens? it's very irritating!

I too have an issue w/ my Macbook Pro keyboard (2nd time since I've owned it) although this one isn't quite as severe as the one reported.
I started noticing over the past couple of weeks that when I type, I start hearing this odd "click" sound every once in a while. As I started to pay more attention to it, it appears that every time I hit the letter 'E', it sounds like the plastic beneath the key is loose or breaking (?). They key itself feels loose and I'm worried that its going to pop off. (this has happened on my Dell Inspiron a few times and its been an annoying issue ever since as it regularly pops off now).
Is this something covered under Applecare? (my previous keyboard issue was a couple of dead keys including the spacebar that required a new keyboard).
Also (side question), when I go to the concierge page to setup a time to visit an Apple Genius, there's GUEST and MEMBER login. Is Member login for those who have Applecare? If so, then what would the member number be? The Applecare agreement # doesn't seem to take.
    Thanks,

  • Anything new with keyboard issues in XP

read alot of posts but doesnt appaer to be anything new on keyboard issues in XP. works for awhile then nothing.mouse does work. i dont have an old keyboard around i can use. was hoping it was something to do with XP settings.
    any word ?

I seemed to have the same issues other people were reporting: USB keyboard would disconnect every five minutes or so, would sometimes re-connect by itself, would other times freeze and require re-plugging. The mouse would usually keep working even when plugged into keyboard. This would happen on all USB ports. It was most noticeable in Windows (through Boot Camp and through Parallels), but it would also happen less noticeably in OS X. In OS X, it would often recover without re-plugging, but errors would show up in the Console logs. It seemed to get worse the longer my computer was on.
Turned out, for me at least, to be a faulty keyboard. Although I tested the keyboard on another computer and it was fine, on the Intel iMac it had the disconnection problem. I repaired permissions, verified the disk, reset PRAM, restarted in Safe Boot, but nothing helped.
I called Apple about it. They replaced the keyboard under warranty, and since then (about two weeks) the problem has not occured once, in OS X or in Windows.
If you haven't done so already, I recommend thorough troubleshooting. Disconnect all other peripherals other than the mouse and monitor your logs in OS X (open Console under Utilities) to see if USB errors come up. Boot into in Safe Boot mode by pressing Shift on start-up. If the error still comes up in OS X, as it did in my case, then you have a valid problem you can call Apple about. If it happens only in Windows, unfortunately it might be harder to make a case since Boot Camp is beta software. When you call Apple you can desscribe all the testing you already did.
    (are you still under warranty?)

  • Textfield and keyboard issues

I have been hitting wall figuring out keyboard issues.
    - As I have been experimenting, you can not do select on texts unless the text is input type. Please correct me if I am wrong. This actually invokes the virtual keyboard. Is there anyway to disable the virtual keyboard?
    - When you tap on dynamic and input text fields and try to type something, the texts will become 200% bigger. What's explanation behind this? Any way to keep it normal?
I really appreciate if someone can help me out here. Thanks in advance.

    Update:
    - Just tested. To avoid text become bigger 200% go to Anti-Alias option and choose "Use Device fonts". Alternative, you can use TextInput component too.

  • Ibook g4 keyboard issue

I have an Ibook G4 that was purchased in Jan 2005. My 90 day phone support has dissolved however the laptop is still under hardware warrenty for 180+ days.
The right side of the spacebar sticks and is really annoying. How do I go about getting a replacement part from apple? I can't seem to find any other method to contact them other then phone and then it costs $49 for them to talk to me.
    Thanks.

Amy welcome to apple discussions board.
I believe that within one year from the day of purchase you can still add apple care. that extends the technical telephone support from 90 days to 3 years and warranty from one year to three years.
I believe if an apple tech agent identifies your keyboard issue they can set it up for service. that means that you have to pay for any hardware replacement plus labor and shipping cost (both ways).
an alternative would be to contact an apple authorized service center, like CompUSA. hope that was useful. good luck and feel free to post back if have more questions.

  • MacBook Pro 10.4.11 keyboard issue (beaten path??)

When my MacBook Pro starts up or wakes up, some keys, specifically q,w,e,r,t,y,u,i,o, and the left Shift key, don't respond. The duration of the problem is quite unpredictable; a few minutes to maybe up to 30 minutes. If I wait long enough they become responsive eventually. When I bought it in 2007 I didn't have this problem. I think it started ~1 year after the purchase.
From googling I found out that many MacBook Pro owners were having similar problems. These are mostly with version 10.5 and many people seem to agree that this is a Leopard-specific issue, but I've also seen a few people complaining about similar keyboard issues with 10.4. I also found out that Apple released some sort of a keyboard software update to fix these problems. However, that update requires 10.5, and mine is 10.4.11.
This week I finally took my computer to the Apple store and showed it to a 'Genius'. He said he was not familiar with this problem, and when I mentioned the keyboard software update, he hooked up some sort of cable and ran 10.5 on my computer, but the computer in that state didn't find any keyboard updates (at least that's how I understood his explanation). Therefore, he concluded that this is a hardware problem and that the machine needs a repair.
Now, I don't question the Genius' superior knowledge to mine, but I still can not believe it's not a software problem. If it is hardware problem, how come it occurs always/only after the computer wakes up? Is it coincidence that the symptom is so similar to the known software problem?

I'm having a similar problem although I am not trying to upgrade my version. Certain keys don't work on the built-in keyboard: delete, space bar, caps lock, quotes-apostrophe key...I have to use the "keyboard viewer" to use these particular keys. My adapter is connected to the computer, but the problem persists.
Can anyone please suggest troubleshooting for this annoying problem? It has been like this for about 2 weeks now.
    Any suggestions will be appreciated!

  • New Z70 Keyboard issues

Hi all, I have recently just purchased the new Lenovo Z70 laptop and it arrived a few days ago. Everything about it seems fine except the keyboard, it works but only just you have to really push hard and very central for it to register me pushing keys, as such trying to type anything takes years and is unbareable. Has anyone else experienced this? or know what is causing it?

I also have very similar keyboard issues.  I bought the laptop beause it has all the things I want (epescially 17 inch screen & NON-GLARE screen which is crucial to usability.) But - I feel like this laptop has been ruined because it 100 percent slows down my work due to the keyboard problems.  I'm a very fast typist and have never had a keyboard slow me down until now, and the slowdown is huge.  I thought that my fingers would get used to whatever new touch methods are required after 6 weeks but it hasn't happened.  I end up with a big problem on the letter c --- half the time it appears twice and sometimes it doesnt appear at all.  Then there are the passwords that dont work for several times beacuse the keyboard is not registering the correct keystrokes.  And sometimes I dont catch what it has done to my text , with bad consequeces.  All my emails are unfortunately in an account that is labeled as my domain name with a .om after instead of .com because of the problems with the 'c' key that I didnt realize until much later.
I'm not able to describe the intensity of the issue sufficiently, so just would have to state here that because of this keyboard issue, this is the worst laptop I've ever bought unforunately.  I can't understand how such a great item would be shipped wiht the primary user interface (keyboard) so effed up. I attribute some of it to posisble requirements of the keys themselves to get touched only in certain directions in order to regiister a keystroke.  But that doesn't explain the duplicate keystrokes I often see.
In summary - I wish I had stayed with Dell.  I thought I'd go with Lenovo this time and this keyboard thing makes me frustrated that I strayed.

  • Keyboard issue - Cursor moves backwards while typing

    Hello,
I have an issue with the keyboard of a Macbook Pro (2011). When I'm typing (email, notes or word etc.), the cursor moves up a couple of lines by itself and I end up typing in a middle of another word. It seems to do so randomly. I have done what apple advises in case of keyboard issue but it hasn't solved the problem so I was wondering if any of you had any suggestion on how to solve that. Thanks

If you have another keyboard, use it see if the problem crops up there.
Reset the SMC:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964 Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
From the disc that originally came w/your comp, run the Hardware Test & post the results.
Keyboard may be dirty.  Try cleaning it using an air compressor and/or a brush vacuum hose.
