Qosmio G20-139 slow video playback sound ok

Hi,
I no longer seem to be able to play video files, play DVDs, or watch TV as the playback is in slow motion but sound is ok except on the TV.
Have tried to uninstall Graphics driver but it won't let me saying something to the effect of unable to uninstall as required to boot.
Also looking into uninstalling /reinstalling Video driver but can't find what it is. Is it the same as the Graphics driver (NVIDIA Go Geforce 6600)?
This all started (i think) when i tried to use a netgear router insatllation CD but stopped it half way even though it said not to... Then whole system went incredibly slow and crashed a lot for a while (even Word, Excel and Powerpoint) but think some updates have sorted that out.. but it still doesn't seem to be able to handle too much going on at once like before... plus some site heavily using javascript have also gone ridiculously slow.
Besides using product restore CD as not to hand as moved to diff country... Any suggestions please????
OS: Window XP MCE

Angela

The display driver and the graphic driver is the same ;) some people call it display driver and some people say graphic driver
Im not quite sure why you are not able to watch movie files properly but possibly you would need some kind of codex.
The codec can be downloaded from different pages and many packages contains different codex.
Personally Im using N K-Lite Mega Codec Pack because it contains most necessary codecs.
I think its worth a try to install it!
Furthermore I recommend cleaning the OS using the CCLeaner its free tool and I had a good experience with it

    Hi everyone,
I'm looking to get a Qosmio G20-139.Anyone know where I can get a really good price?I'm hoping not to spend over 1200.
    Thanks
    Chris

    Hi
Well, I have found a information that this notebook costs about 1,400
    Check this site:
    http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/product_page.jsp?service=UK&PRODUCT_ID=108723&tosh ibaShop=false&retailer=true
But in my opinion you should google a little bit and compare the prices because many online shops offers this notebook and the price differences are enormously.

  • Slow video playback after reinstalling Geforce2 MX  card

Ok, reinstalled (took out the 9200 card) my Geforce2Mx card and now everything is in super slow motion - video, scrolling, typing, opening and closing of apps, pull down menus, loading of web pages - everything. It's like being back on an old SE30 and now even that seems fast to what is happening now. What did I do wrong? Tried rebooting a few times and resetting pram with no better results.

Press the button near the battery on your logic board, it will reset the PMU, which might help.
    Gigabit Ethernet G4 upgraded 1.2Ghz, 120GB HD, 10GB HD, 1GB RAM Mac OS X (10.4.6) ibook G4 1.42Ghz, 80GB HD, 786 MB RAM, 1GB iPod Shuffle
Tried that also with no results. Also repaired permissions. What could have happened to the machine to do that?

Installed the modified Radeon ATI 9600 Pro for G5 Edition card and I still have the same slow video playback results. However when I boot up from another internal hard drive I do not have the video problems. Everything works just fine. Both of my hard drives had no video problems before screwing around with the ATI cards and now the one still has the problems with the video playback. This one also has Classic on it and Classic also runs slow. BTW I don't know if this has anything to do with it but when I ran a search result for "ATI" no files are installed on that 2nd hard drive which is playing video and loading pages with no problems. Would trashing all those ATI files on the slow drive do anything to help? Or is this just a coincidence?

  • Slow video playback after upgrading to ati 9200 card

    Hi,
Well, you have me scratching my head, that's a real puzzle.
Try an Open Firmware re-set, do the 're-set all' procedure:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=42642
BTW, ATI (and OWC) has just released this info on their 9600 video card, meaning it's not so good for G4's:
    Knowledge Base
ATI Customer Care > Product Information > Specifications, Features, Comparisons >
737-21888: Radeon 9600 PRO PC & MAC Edition list of supported system configurations
The information in this article applies to the following configurations:
    Radeon® 9600 PRO PC & MAC Edition
    "Quicksilver" Power Mac G4 model
"Quicksilver 2002" Power Mac G4 model
"Digital Audio" Power Mac G4 model
The Radeon 9600 Mac & PC Edition is not compatible with the "Quicksilver", "Quicksilver 2002" or the "Digital Audio" PowerMac G4. If a Radeon 9600 Mac & PC Edition board is installed in one of these systems the result is a blank display.

  • Qosmio G20-139: Using notebook screen to play on the Xbox360

Hi I have a query about the monitor in function with the G20-139,
I have an xbox 360 and want to know if there is a way of using the notebooks screen to play on the 360 either in High-Def or composite mode by using the monitor in function. With the notebook came a composite in cable at one end and a sort of 3.5 mm headphone jack at the other.
I have read the instruction manual regarding the matter and it doesn't work.
Any Help would be appreciated Thanks

    Hi
The monitor-in port which you can connect with the composite cable can be used for displaying video from your digital camcorder, video game or video recorder on the internal LCD. It can be used as line-in port to enable the connection of stereo device for audio input.
In my opinion you need additionally this cable to connect the Xbox to the Qosmio with the delivered composite-in cable.
    http://www.madcatz.com/Default.asp?Page=257&CategoryImg=Xbox_360_Cables
Then to should start the Qosmio with the Monitor-in button which starts the Qosmio player.

  • Slow video playback in Photoshop Elements 11

Playback of videos directly in Photoshop Elements Organizer is very slow. Video is stuttering.
Playing the same video outside of PSE11 with Windows Media Player is much better. Video plays without any stuttering.
Looks like the internal video player of PSE11 is very poor and provides slow performance.
What can I do do have the same video performance with the PSE11 player as I have with WMP.
I use Windows 7 64 Bit (8 GB RAM) with a Intel Core i3 (2330). This CPU has enough power to playback HD or Full-HD videos without any stuttering!!!
Why can't the internal play of PSE11 Organizer play my videos without stuttering - like WMP 12.0.7601.18150 does?
    Regards,
    Dodson65

The videos I use are created with different devices.
I have HD videos taken with a Pentax DSLR and I have Full-HD videos taken with a Windows Phone 8 device.
Both playback on my Laptop without any stottering with different software. I checked WMP and VLC. Even when using my Laptop with energy-saving profile these videos can be played without stottering.
When I playback the videos in PSE11 Organizer I don't want to edit them - just playback. So why should the internal player behave different? I agree with you - this might be different when I playback the videos in Premiere Elements 11 (as this is a video editing software). But when using Photoshop Elements 11 I want to be able to playback videos in the same performance as I can do with WMP or VLC. If Photoshop Elements 11 can't do that - why? The organizer of PSE11 is not an editor. It should be able to playback videos the same way (with the same performance) as other players on my laptop.
Can you please explain this sentence: "Have you started a Premiere Elements project yet that uses this video's specs? This will often trigger Premiere Elements to download the necessary components for interpretting the video." Is there anything I can do to improve video playback performance?

  • Slow video playback

    Hello,
I previously had no problems playing videos in iTunes. Recently, however, video playback becomes choppy about 10 seconds in, while audio remains fine. This happens both with my own ripped videos and with iTunes Store videos, at 100% view (i.e., not fullscreen or anything). Looking at Activity Monitor, iTunes begins to eat up 90-105% CPU.
I only have a few apps running (e.g., Camino, iChat, Mail), and everything is responsive until iTunes starts chugging away, at which point my whole system slows down. Can anyone help shed some light on what is going on?

I've been having the same problem on my G4. I created a second user account and noticed that videos play perfectly there, just not in my normal account. I'm now trying to troubleshoot from there to see if it's some third party thing or widget or something that is the cause. Maybe someone else could try the same thing - create another account and see if that solves the problem - then go back and try troubleshooting their regular account. This seems like it could be a solvable problem to me at this point. Please post your results.

  • ITunes Video Playback - Sound skipping

Hi - Just bought a new PC and have installed iTunes and brought over all my sound and video files to it via iPod hard disk function. Music is playing perfectly. All video playback is accompanied by terrible stuttering and spluttering of the audio. This is occuring at all times - even if iTunes is the only app running. DVD playback fantastic on PC as is video playback using other apps. Videos i'm trying to play are all under 5 minutes long and differ in type from video podcasts to Pixar content bought from itunes shop. New PC has brilliant spec so don't understand - any suggestions? All help much appreciated - regards!!

I almost have the same problem with the Video Podcast the sound is bad, For the audio only it works perfectly. At first everything was in order and worked well.
Then for no reason I got the trouble with the sound of the Video Podcast there was echoes and the quality was poor.
Cause it’s new computer I re-installed everything, so it worked well again. Then after going on a web site that uses active X for animation I got the problem back. I have no idea if Active X QuickTime are connected but each time the pattern the same.
Have tried to re-install iTunes the Quick Time I have changed the Audio option about filters in both nothing helped.

  • Flash 10 and PPC - slow video playback

Have an old PowerBook 12" running 10.5. Since upgrading to
Flash v10 the video playback is slow and sluggish to the point
Flash content is unusable. Tried to download a PPC specific version
but Adobe downloads gave me the Universal Binary once again. I
suspect v10 is buggy and is not supporting "Enable Hardware
Acceleration" on PPC so video is being scaled and processed by
    software.
Anyone else having this problem? Anyone able to direct me to
    good old v9?

Restarting might help temporarily, but for a more permanent solution you'd need a faster computer processor, a better video card, lots more RAM, and a faster hard drive. The sad truth of the matter is that technology advances so quickly that older computer hardware can't keep up with it. It would actually cost less to buy a new computer than it would to try to upgrade an older model. The iMac CRT's are still useful for many tasks, but they can't be expected to handle present-day multimedia.

  • Qosmio G20-139 [UK] Freezing DIGITAL TV

    Hello Toshiba,
Have you solved the problem with Freezing Digital Pictures in the UK?
    It is driving me crazy!!!
Is it a Toshiba Hybrid DVB-T CARD Problem or a Media Centre one?
And when will Qosmio Player be able to show DIGITAL transmissions, because analoug ones are on the way out here in the UK.
    I need answer.
    Here's hoping !!!!
    cheers
    Ogilvie

I've had an update from Toshiba:
"We a currently aware that some users with Qosmio G20/F20 notebook computers are experiencing signal dropping off whilst using the internal DVB-T digital tuner. We have collated data in respect of these users and the issue is currently being worked on by the support team. Customers who receive signal from transmitters in the horizontal polarisation format are currently experiencing these issues. Given your location "CR0" you receive your signal from the Crystal Palace transmitter which broadcasts in this format.
Therefore please be assured that a resolution is being worked towards and I will keep you updated accordingly. "
Fingers crossed that they can sort the problem out with an updated driver, rather than a hardware change !
    Simon.

  • Slow video playback in very high resolution X11

Hi everyone. I write this msg for ask your eternal knowledgement.
I have a very huge system (i7 3820 LGA2011, 8Gb quad channel, Gigabyte x79-up5-wifi, AMD HD5870 2Gb Eyefinity 6, etc) running Arch on it. The OS is updated. The Arch config is very minimal, using Fluxbox as WM and VLC and Mplayer to playback videos. The video driver is the latest stable Catalyst (13.4) and so on. I got connected six HD screens seted to a resolution of 1366x768. These screens are managed with xrandr, adjusted for considering the bezel compensation, using xrand --output MONITOR --pos X+BEZELxY+BEZEL.
When i play a video with mplayer (using the gl video driver) the movie shows very well and smooth, but when i pan the video all over de virtual screen (4194x1583 aprox), the movie shows very choppy.
The strange fact is the Conky reports shows me an 5% of CPU usage, so the system performance are not the problem.
The mplayer flags that i use to play this video are plenty, being the threads=4, gl:ati-hack and -root the most important.
If anyone can give me a hint to solve this issue, i would be very grateful.
    thx in advance.

  • Slow video playback with 2 sound tracks

    Hi,
I've just been playing around with quicktime files with 2 sound tracks with different languages. When I copy these files to the ipod they playback, but in slow motion. Are there any guidelines for making ipod compatible 2 sound track files?
I know there are movies in the itunes store with two sound tracks with different languages and these are supposed to work OK with the ipod nano.
    Any experiences? Thanks,
    Robintosh

What software are you using to convert the videos to iPod format?
If you are using Quicktime Pro, or iTunes 6 to do the conversion... then that is most likely where your problem lies.
Your source video file is probably muxed.
Neither QT Pro or iTunes has the ability to successfully encode a muxed video file with audio. You'll end up with video and no audio.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302588
You'll need to use some other third-party software to do the conversion. There's a handful of software available. Just search the forums and you'll find many titles mentioned.
    Try MPEG Streamclip.

  • Slow Video playback on external monitor

I'm having a problem with video on an external monitor drifting out of sync. The video plays back slow on the monitor but the sound come through fine and the video is playing at a normal speed in FCP. This is only happening with video from FCP, I can play a clip in Color and there's no drift. I've opened the project on another mac and there's no problem. Also, if I set the external video play back to 10 bit the drift is worse than if it is set to 8 bit, as in a 15 sec clip takes 19 secs to play back on the external monitor at 10 bit and 18 secs in 8 bit (not exact times). I've reinstalled AJA LHe control panel and drivers, but seeing as this isn't happening in Color it seems like it must be a FCP issue. I've trashed the FCP prefs (along with AJA and quicktime), what could this be?!?

what video capture card are you using??
have you set render all to FULL, and have you rendered??
