Quantity field error

hi,
When i am multiplying
xkomv-kwert = xkomv-kbetr(11.14) * KOMP-MGAME( 1.000 this is one).
it is giving 11140.00 what need to be done, I am aware because of the QUANTITY field, now please tell me
1. Whether I need to pass the UNIT field? HOW?
2. or I need do use some numerator / denominator.

goto the attributes of the program and check if Fixed Point Arithmetic checkbox is checked or not
Fixed point arithmetic
 If you mark this checkbox, all caluculations in the program will use
 fixed point arithmetic.
 If you do not, packed numbers (ABAP/4 type P, Dictionary types CURR, DEC
 or QUAN) will be treated as integers when they are used in assignments,
 comparisons and calculations, irrespective of the number of decimal
 places defined. Intermediate results in arithmetic calculations will
 also be rounded to the next whole number. The number of decimal places
 defined is only taken into account when you output the answer using the
 WRITE statement.

Hi Sreenu,
While creating CURRENCY/QUANTITY fields in the DataBase Table, you have to enter a REFERENCE TABLE and a REFERENCE FIELD to the field.
For that, after entering the field name and the data type in the correcponding columns, you have to place the cursor on the data type of the required field and click the CURRENCY/QUANTITY FIELDS tab. You will find two columns called REFERENCE TABLE and a REFERENCE FIELD.
you have to enter a reference table in which a currency/quantity field is used and a reference field which is a currency/quantity field in that table.
For Example, below is the table details.
FIELD DATATYPE LENGTH DEC.PLACES REF.TABLE REF.FIELD
1.SNO     CHAR 5
2.AMOUNT CURR 10     2          T001      WAERS
3.NOS     QUAN 5                 KNA1      /VSO/R_PAL_UL
Here Field 2(AMOUNT) is a CURR field whose Ref. Table is T001 and Ref. Field is WAERS and Field 3(NOS) is a QUAN field whose Ref. Table is KNA1 and Ref. Field is /VSO/R_PAL_UL.

Error with quantity field:Datasource Creation Using Function Module method

Problem with DATASOURCE Creation using Function Module method :
I have created a datasource ZSTANDARD_COST_PRICE using Function Module method . The datasource creation is successfull when I remove the quantity field from the Z table . If I dont remove the quantity field from my Z table it gives an error as "Units Field WAERS for field STPRS of datasource ZSTANDARD_COST_PRICE is hidden". I am not able to remove this error . Please someone guide.

Hi,
You should add it as one of the main fields as you have added other fields and not as the currency fields...that is..it should be part of the data source and you should be able to see it in RSO2...
Also if added as i said then it will come as new field in the data source...you can either let it be there...or hide it..
also if you want to populate it then you will have to write the code for this fields as well.

Runtime error in Dynamic internal table with AMOUNT and Quantity Fields..

I am attempting write a dymanic Select Statement (with joins).
And the sleect query looks like this..

Problem:- This query run fine with all the fields Except AMOUNT AND QUANTITY fields....
When the selection list contain VBAK-NETWR or MSEG-MENGE..It throws a runtime error.
"The data read during a SLECT access couldnt be inserted into the target field,either conversion is not supported for
the target field's type or the target field is too short."
after this I even tried to construct the dynamic table with CFILEDNAME and QFIELDNAME in the Fieldcatalog.

Why are moving only few fields from DD03L table to your field catalog? Why don't you use move-corresponding? The following code works for me in ECC6.0.

Upgrade error in quantity field

Hi all,
i am working on upgrade project ,from ecc5.0 to ecc6.0,i am getting error like
QTY_TAB-ATP must be a character-type field (data type C,N,D,or T
its already decleared in atp like mdps-mng04
ATP is an quantity field ,in the table its decleare in data tyep is p, and length of the field is 13.
i decleared like below
DATA: atp(13) type p. its working fine ,if i decleare C,N,D the field value is not coming in out put.
please suggest me how to do further for this error,is it correct declearation are i need to change.

BSP view quantity field causing error CX_BSP_CONV_ILLEGAL_REF

I have a htmlb inputfield on the view of my MVC bsp. The field type bound to this inputfield is a quantity data type. When I run the application i get the error:

When I debugged into it the below exception is triggered:
CX_BSP_CONV_ILLEGAL_REF
Can anyone please, please tell me how to get around this?
After further investigation, we've discovered that quantity fields display fine when they are an attribute on the model itself. But the problem occurs when the quantity field is on a structure which is an attribute of the model.

Problem with quantity field in BDC

               i am trying to upload data from internal table to SAP using BDC, but while uploading quantity fields it is giving error as "Input fields is longer than screen field", Is there any method to upload quantity fields to SAP.

Before passing the value to perform bdc_field, convert that value to char type
For eg.

Possible bug? Nested tables and quantity fields in the nested table.

I have witnessed a weird bug, maybe someone can clarify this for me.
1. Create a nested table. The inner table contains a quantity field of type DZIEME (FROM VBAP-ZIEME).
2. Create your interface and just put this table in the import section. Try to activate. It will work.
3. Create an adobe form for it and a program and execute it. You'll get a short dump saying that VBAP-ZIEME is unknown and that there are errors in the dynamically generated function.
Second test.
1. Create a nested table. The outer table contains a quantity field of type DZIEME (FROM VBAP-ZIEME).
2. Create your interface and just put this table in the import section. Try to activate. It will NOT work.
You have to make the addition of the quantity fields in Currency/Quantity Fields.
From this I see that the checker, doesn't look into nested tables for quantity/currency fields and just activates the interface.
Third test
1. Create a nested table. The inner table contains a quantity field of type DZIEME (FROM VBAP-ZIEME).

By nested tables I mean creating table types, in the dictionary (se11) then in the interface>Import section adding a parameter X TYPE B_T.
i.e.
Structure A
Table type of structure A, A_T
Structure B containing a field of table type A
Table type B of structure B, B_T.
The issue can be easily solved for Z tables by changing the component type from quantity to decimal type.

Decimal place in Quantity field

Hello experts,
Got a query regarding decimal places in the quantity field of a sales order.
The material UOM is maintained as EA. I have checked the transaction CUNI, where the decimal place is maintained as ZERO. Still , Sales order / Delivery documents which i am creating is allowing decimal places for in the quantity.
For eg: material quantity of 50 EA in sales order, during the delivery batch splitting is getting splitted as 25.095 EA and 24.050 EA. Can you pleae advise the reason for this and how to go about this...

But , as i have already told the decimal place field is maintained as 0(zero) in CUNI for the UOM EA.... Still its allowing me to enter decimal values... for eg:. its allowing me to enter 50.038 EA. I don't know why its not giving an error message prompting me not to enter decimal values...

Every quantity field has a reference field.
Check the reference field in the table through SE11 transaction & click on REFERENCE tab. Trace your quantity field & corresponding reference field.
In the Smartform mention the same reference field against the quantity field declaration & activate it.

Currency and Quantity fields in Nested Table

Hallo Experts,
I have created a Interface with import Sturcture SLS_PRT_COM. This Sturcture have many nested Sturctures. Now I created a Table type ZEBFO with line type VBDPA. VBDPA has many currency and quantity fields such like GEWEI.
Now I have created internal Table of ZEBFO.
Declare the nested Quantity field in the Currency/Quantity Fields section, using the autofiller (the buttons to the right of the field).
Create an adobe form for it and a program and execute it.
Dump
The following syntax error occurred in program "/1BCDWB/SAPLSM00000034 " in

can somebody help me what shall I do.

Hi,
When Creating a Structure ,include currency and quantity Fields in the same structure and Refere those as currency and
Quantity Fields.
In the Form when click on Currency/Quantity Fields,they automatically visible and you can add them .

Regarding Editable Quantity field in ALV Grid

Hi Experts,
I need your advice in this 2 scenarios.
1.I have a scenario where quantity field in output is editable and the user wants the quantity field printed without thousand separator. If i take a char field and display the field is editable then user may mistakenly type a,bcd...z/ special characters which it should not capture. Is there any char data type data element which accepts only integers. Because after that i need to save that value in z database table quantity field.
2. when there i raised an error message after validation of that editable field in alv output(by events), the user wants all other rows in that grid as uneditable except the row which has got error till this error is solved. Is this possible. If yes how.
Please share your valuable suggestions.

as in dictionary, all quantity fields should have a reference to the unit field which then defines the number of decimals.
The rest is done automatically as long as you do it standard way. In field catalog you have to set the fcat-qfieldname to the name of the field that has the unit.
If you do so, also totals will be grouped by unit.
SAP has really done a great thing by inventing units for quantities (and currency keys for currency amounts). Only developers do not understand and thus refuse to use it.

Displaying Fields That Refer to Currencies or Quantities
Use
In the ABAP Dictionary, you can assign a currency or quantity field to a table field if the table field contains a currency or quantity value. When printing these fields, SAP Smart Forms can take into account the assigned currency or unit:
If the value field is in the same table as the assigned currency or quantity field, SAP Smart Forms automatically recognizes this and, during output, formats the value field according to the currency or unit in the assigned field.
If the value field and the assigned currency or quantity field are stored in different tables, SAP Smart Forms cannot automatically recognize the relationship.
In the second case, you must inform SAP Smart Forms about the relationship.
Procedure
As mentioned above, you only have to perform the following steps if a value field that is to be displayed in a table (for example, VALTAB) has a relationship to a currency or quantity field in another table (for example, CURTAB). In this case, you have to specify the relationship explicitly:
In the form, define a global field of the same type as the table in which the currency or quantity field is stored, for example WA_CURTAB. Also define a work area for the output of your value field, for example WA_VALTAB.
If you use a table with a header line, you do not need to define a work area. Instead, you work through the following steps with the header line of the relevant table. In the following step, for example, you would specify the field VALTAB-VALUE instead of WA_VALTAB-VALUE under Field Name.
Create the relationship to the currency field by switching to the Currency/Quantity fields of the Global Definitions node and entering the following values:
Field name: WA_VALTAB-VALUE if this is the value field of VALTAB that is to be output
Reference field: WA_CURTAB-CURRENCY, therefore the currency field of CURTAB
Use the work area WA_VALTAB on the data tab page of your table node or loop node.
Create a program lines node before the event at which the value field is printed.
In the program lines node, assign the currency or unit in which you want to format the value field WA_VALTAB-VALUE to the currency or quantity field of the global field WA_CURTAB-CURRENCY. You have to either select the value of WA_CURTAB-CURRENCY afterwards or have already passed it to the form interface.
Display or print the value field WA_VALTAB-VALUE.
Result
During output, SAP Smart Forms formats the value field WA_VALTAB-VALUE according to the value assigned to the currency or quantity field of the global variable WA_CURTAB_CURRENCY.
