Quarter hour appointments and Active Sync

Hello, I want to say sorry if this is a duplicate post but I was unable to find a resolution. I have a user using the current $99 iPhone 3g connected via Active sync to the company Exchange 2003 server. He sent me some screen shots of his Outlook and iPhone calendars. The Outlook calendar has some quarter hour appointments that appear to show up on the half hours on the iPhone calendar. (A 10:45 appointment appears at 11 for example.) I am wondering if this is the normal behavior for quarter hour appointments and if it is not is there a way to correct this issue? I have already had him remove his calendar from the activesync setting and add it back.
Thanks for any help!

Not sure why you're seeing that. I'm also using an iPhone 3G and ActiveSync with an Exchange 2003 server. Events that I create in Outlook or on the iPhone which start at :45 are displayed in the Day view as starting 3/4 of the way through the hour. If the event is only 15 minutes in duration, it starts 'on time' but appears longer (e.g. an 11:45-noon event looks like it runs from 11:45 - 12:15), to accommodate the text height.

  • Best way to Securely publish OWA and Active Sync

    Hi Guys
Just a quick question what is the best way for me to securely publish OWA and Active Sync in Exchange 2013, I have 1 CAS server and one MB server both on my lan but i have 443 open to internet and would like to make it more secure by putting maybe a reverse
proxy or OWA device in my DMA, my setup is small sub 200 users so cost is a factor, what is the most economically way for me to do this with the least amount of work and complication
I know ISA/TMG is now extinct and i dont want to use any linux reverse proxies etc.. just a simple solution that will publish these services securely that is easy to support going forward and inexpensive.
    Thanks in advance
    Spudney

What exactly are you looking to secure?  If all that you have open is TCP 443 that is a tight setup already.
You'll  have to state the business requirements you are looking to address - and for a 200 user org I suspect that they will be very different from a large enterprise.
Take a look at this pls:

  • Problems in using Msync with  IPAQ 3760 and Active SYnc 3.5

    Hi,
    Environment :-
    IPAQ 3760
    Windows NT workstation
    Active Sync 3.5
I am using Active Sync 3.5 which does not need RAS
    configuration on the machine.
I am unable to run msync.exe. It does not give any errors
    messages.
The 9i lite documentation talks about RAS settings.
If anyone has faced similar prob coudl you please let me know
    the solution.
    regards,
    Sonal

You do not need to make a RAS connection with Pocket PC 2002,
because now ActiveSync itself makes an IP connection, and
Oracle9i Lite just needs an IP connection for synchronization no
matter how you establish it. Hi, I also experience the same problem. Using PocketPC 2002 I have a pasthru connection. Ik kan browse on the Internet with Internet Explorer, so the connections works.
mSync just seems to do nothing. When I press the Sync button, nothing happens (not even a progress bar).
    Any idea?
    Thanks,
    Bas.

  • More email issues - OS 10.1.0.273 and Active Sync

I can't believe I am back on this forum with another email issue (I am also a victim of the email wipe issue.  I updated my Q10 OS to .273 and now my active sync account won't connect.  All other emails work fine.  According to Rogers, this is a "known problem" and can be solved by using SSL/port 443 however my company uses Exchange2003 which doesn't have access through port 443.
Seeing the lengthty list of known bugs/issues on these forums, I assume a solution from Blackberry on this "known problem" is months away at best.  The easy solution would be to reverse my OS update and switch back to the prior version which worked but Rogers claims this is impossible on BB10.
Before I make the dreaded decision to give my Q10 back and get an iphone or droid, can someone help with my OS rollback.  Any BB techs reading this who can make the old OS available on their website?
As a side note, its mind boggling to me that BB10 has all these issues with active sync.  They made a strategic decison to force non-enterprise small businesses off of BES servers into active sync - you would think they would have made sure it worked first!!! (beyond these bugs, there are basic functionality issues like the oft quoted issue of not syncing deleted folders with exchange2003 which most small businesses still use).  Either they have to fix these issues fast or make some sort of free BES10 express available or they are going to lose their small business customer base.  It becomes clearer everyday that BB10 just doesnt work with Exchange2003 active sync.

    To the Developers,
its seems that things have gotten worse, and if you really needed someone to test your update, you could have called me...
I can't send subsequent text messages to contacts without waiting 3 minutes for the first to send.
    solve this issue ASAP
    Kind Regards

  • Giving my wife my 3G and activating/syncing my new 3GS - sequence questions

I would like help understanding the proper sequence of actions i need to do to successfully pull this off. Here's what my goals are:
I want to give my current 3G, which is synced to my iTunes, to my wife with a blank slate. She has a seperate iTunes account and would like to take the empty 3G and sync it with her account.
Of course, i also need to transfer all the contents of the 3G to my new 3GS before i do this. Then i want to sync up my new 3GS to my iTunes and....well, you get the picture.
I am confused and anxious about getting all this right...authorizing, de-authorizing, restoring, syncing, etc. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    Ok, here you go...
First, ensure you have a good backup of your 3G on your iTunes account. Next, sync your new 3GS and when it connects you'll be asked to add a new phone or restore to a previous backup... choose your 3G backup and wait for the restore to complete. Once completed you'll then need to re-sync all your content (music, videos, audiobooks, apps, etc) to the new phone. Once all that is done your 3GS should look just like to 3G did and all your settings, texts, etc. should be intact.
Then wipe the 3G by going to Settings-General-Reset-Erase All Content and Settings. Once this is complete the phone will be ready for syncing with your wife's iTunes account on her PC.
BTW, this is exactly what I did since I gave my former 3G to my wife who has her own PC and iTunes account. It all worked flawlessly.

  • Exchange 2013 CU2 - Mailbox Databases and Active Sync - update when new item arrive

    Hi,
Maybe it will be a silly question but I don't know what exactly is going on. We are running Ex2013CU2 Evironment (1 CAS, 2 MBX Servers with 4 Mailbox Databases).
User mailboxes are in MDB01 and they are allowed to connect to mail via activesync and everything is working great (I mean that auto notification on mobile when item arrive is working).
When we move user mailbox to another database ex. MDB02 -> "auto notification when item arrive" does not working, but manual synchronization is working great.
Does anyone have any idea why it is behaving like this or what should I check to fix this ?
    Thanks.

are you saying PUSHMAIL is not working after moving the mailbox to a different database?

  • Qosmio G20-118 and Active Sync via bluetooth

I cant make activesync to work when connecting my Pocket PC (With Windows Mobile 2003 second edition) via bluetooth. Can anyone help or post a link to a help page?
    Thanks in advance,
    Miguel Amaro

    Hi
As far as I know the Pocket PC must be in the cradle.
    1. "Tap" on start and choose the ActiveSync program
    2. Then "tap" on "Tools" and choose "Options" in the ActiveSync Program
    3. Check under "Enable synchronization when cradled using" to see if the setting is on Bluetooth
Important: Please remove the Pocket PC from the cradle and then return it to the cradle.
    This activates the new setting
    Bye

  • Does the E71 work with Microsoft Active Sync or no...

    Hi,
    Can anyone help please.
I need to Sync the E71 with my work email, the company runs Exchange servers.
I've read countless messages and posts about the E71 and Active Sync and I still can't understand if it works or not. I know the specification says it supports Microsoft Active Sync but does it work?
Can anyone give me any tips, advice or any downloads that are required?
A guy at the office has an E63 and he cannot get it to receive his work emails. The IT department have tried and say it just does not work.
Any pointers would be very welcome!
    Many thanks,

    Hi,
Nokia E71 supports Active Sync Protocol, to Sync your Personal Info with your corporate Microsoft Exchange Account, you can install Mail for Exchange (An application from Nokia to receive/sync your corporate mails) which works on the Active Sync protocol. Log onto www.businesssoftware.nokia.com or go to Downloads in your handset & download the Mail for Exchange application. Install it in your handset, then contact your Company's IT Admin to configure the account & enable you to receive/sync mails with your corporate account. For more info on Mail for Exchange, log onto www.businesssoftware.nokia.com

  • HT1212 my daughter has a brand new ipod touch - never used - she entered a passcode then immediately forgot it and now she has tried to enter one too many times and ipod is locked for 1 hour - she has never synced with itunes HELP

my daughter has a brand new ipod touch - latest one - she started to input a passcode then didn't finish the process then turned off ipod. she turned it back on and it is asking for a passcode - she doesn't remember what she typed. Ipod is now disabled for one hour. Can we override the disable. How do we reset passcode when we don't klnow the original. It has never been synced to Itunes. I am completely lost.

    iOS- Understanding passcodes
If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (if You Forget Your Passcode)
If you need to restore your device or ff you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up
option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not
             necessary to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
              you see "iPhone is activated."
         9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup. If you do not have a
backup to restore, then restore as New.

  • Appointments received showing one hour forward and Reykjavik time zone

My appointments received are showing one hour forward and Reykjavik as the time zone. When I check them on my outlook desktop they are the correct time. I've checked my time zone ans settings on my z10 and they are correct. I can correct them using edit on the phone but don't want to have to do this each time. Am I missing something?
I saw a post from another time zone which said it was a bug that the developers were working on and a work around was to alter the time zone on the phone by an hour but surely this would alter the time on the phone?

I have tried the same BES installation with an Exchange 2010 Server. No problem with the time zone there.
I have testet an 10.1. Smartphone with Exchange 2003. No problem. All of our 10.2 devices have this problems. On two of these devices the sync of the caleneder has stoped completely. Im now searching for a was back to 10.1 on the affected blackberry devices.
    Any hints are welcome

  • Dealing with Changing DC's and Related USN's in AD Active Sync

We have a relatively large AD implementation (120+ DC's) and have active sync configured to failover should our primary GC detailed in the sync policy not be available. My question is: Given that each DC has its own USN counter, how do you reconcile IDM when it switches to a different DC? We've had frequent issues with switching DC's, causing active sync to either fail outright or simply go silent by not checking for changes accurately. Currently we update the USN manually on our end to reflect the new DC being used but for obvious reasons I'd like to come up with an approach that is a little more elegant.
I'm trying to put together a JMX monitor that will detect when IDM fails over to a new DC, but that is only one half of the equation. Any suggestions or best practices would be most welcome.
    Thanks.

The Resources Reference talks a bit about this. Basically, you have to periodically (maybe hourly or daily) run the "Active Directory Synchronization Recovery Collector" task to keep track of the USNs on all of your domain controllers.
Then there is the "Active Directory Synchronization Failover" task that uses that info when switching to a different domain controller.
It would be really nice if these functions had just been built in to the resource adapter.

  • Zenprise software and exchange active sync is no longer working with my work email

Has anyone resolved this issue yet?  I use Zenprise to allow my email to communicate with my work server.  The account and set up is correctly and I reenrolled to ping the server. I discussed this with my company's support center.  However, my company no longer see's my phone trying to communicate with the server. I also use active sync to sync up the email.  Both are not working and did work fine before the ICS upgrade.  I did everything verizon told me to do.  Such as clear out cache, etc.
If my phone can not be fixed, I should receive a free upgrade to apple (since android is not working).  I should not have to pay for a new phone.  Verizon, please fix the software or send me a new apple phone.

Hello all - I have good and bad news.   The good news is after I deleted both my unique Office365-based exchange accounts and then re-added one, I was asked to allow some policy that allows my company to wipe the device, etc., etc.   That allowed the first one to work, and the second one set up without issue too.   I'm most pleased to have my device working, but my 'fix' isn't too revolutionary so probably not very helpful to you.   I did try the Touchdown app for a bit the other day, but was disappointed that it could only do one account at a time and didn't have the comprehensive cross-account calendar, from what I could tell.  Also, my apologies for possibly polluting the thread but I do not use Zenprise; my phone (although company-issued) is a base Android.  Good luck with your issues and let's hope any other OS upgrade is far, far into the future.

  • How do I use Active Sync to view SharePoint Lists (Contacts and Calendars) on a Mobile Phone?

We are attempting to use SharePoint 2010 in combination with Exchange 2010 to implement shared calendars and contact lists throughout our organization.  We are able to connect the lists to Outlook 2010, but have been unsuccessful in viewing
the calendars and contact lists from our mobile phones.  How do we use Active Sync to view SharePoint Lists (Contacts and Calendars) on a Mobile Phone?
In trying to answer this question, we have come across a few different possibilities, all of them falling just short of a long term solution for us.  After doing research, we found that Active Sync will only show the default folders of the account.  To
solve this, we downloaded an Add-In for Outlook (CodeTwo FolderSync) to synchronize folders and synchronized our SharePoint list with a new Contact list in the default folder.  The issue we came across with this method is that the Add-In we are using
is not capable of automatic synchronization.  There is a button and it must be clicked after every update is made, which is not ideal for our solution.  We then went to the company (CodeTwo) and found server side software (Exchange Sync) that they
offer which will automatically synchronize the folders.  After installing that on the Exchange Server, we now are running into the issue of not being able to locate the SharePoint lists on the Exchange Server.
Does anyone happen to know how we can get to the SharePoint lists from the Exchange Server?  Has anyone else been able to use shared contacts lists and calendars from SharePoint on their mobile phones using Active Sync?  If so, are we in the right
direction with what we have found so far?
    Thanks,
    Brad

You cannot use ActiveSync for that, but there are SharePoint clients for the iPhone. Windows Mobile 7 natively supports SharePoint with SharePoint Workspace Mobile, part of Microsoft Office Mobile. Android and BlackBerry might also have some apps.

  • Report on active sync actions (like starting and stopping the sync)

Is there a way to report on who stopped or started an active sync? I'm guessing it has to be stored somewhere, but I can't find it.
    Thanks!

    Hi Smit,
I believe you are talking about FMS AWS instance and you may be using a centos 4.0.2 instance AMI or lower?
Well ... earlier,  options for stopping a centos AWS image was not available, but recently they are there in place, so I suppose if you use a new centos 4.5.1 AMI then probably you can start stop the aws instance on yuor will. Give ut a shot and let me know.
    Regards,
    Shiraz Anwar
I again cross-checked and found that you were right, start and stop is not supported there .... an alternative method is to take a snapshots of the runinng instnace and terminate that instance after that, later you can use your snapshot to attach to the EBS volume to run your system again. You may need to use the Elastic IP address, because you wont like your users to update each time you terminate the old instance, and create new instance from snapshot. I have never used it in this way, but this is one of the approach.

  • How can I get my ipod touch properly when it keeps stalling in different stages and hours later doesn't sync all the songs I checked?

My ipod touch has been stalling in different stages of the syncing process and when it finally stops hours later, it only syncs some of the songs and playlists I've checked. This is well within the memory storage. To be honest, this thing has been a problem since all the updates a year ago. I've been using my ipod classic, but I would like to use this one because of the blue tooth capabilities. This is very frustrating.
