Hi, I have some simple queries on reports, which are following. Any help is appreciated!!
Q1. Where does following information go ??
a. The heading that I want to print on only the first page of the Report, like Report Name,
Company name, should go to Margin or Header or Body ?
b. Where does the page numbers go ?
c. Field titles/labels, that should print on the beginning of every page of the report
Q2. How can I restrict the printing of a cloumn to once, when a same value is repeating more than once.
This is the first column of the report, so if it's value is same in the next rows, i need to print it only once.
Should I use format trigger or that can be simply done my setting some properties ? If format trigger,
then how ?
Q3. Is it possible that I have two parameters in my Parameter Form and after accepting first parameter
value I show the the list of second parameters on the basis of first value choosen by the user ?
e.g. If somebody chooses dept# 10, and then second field displays all the employees of dept# 10.
Q4. Im my report, I want always a last page that is dipalying data from altogether different query which is no
way related to my other main query. This is query is pretty simple and I just want to display the
data always on the last page of the report. How would I handle the layout of this page ??
Thanks!!
ShaluHi Shalu,
Q1-
a)If you want to Print heading on the First Page ONLY then it sholud be
in MAIN SECTION/BODY olny.(Fields Property- Print OBject On- Should be
First Page).
b)Bottom-Right of the MARGIN Section.
c)if Report Heading is in Main Section then in the layouts Main Frame,
inside that you can keep (Field titles/labels).
Q2- Go to Report Wizard try these two Report Style(Group Above and Group Left)
i think this will solve your Problem...
Q3- I thinnnnnnnk this is not possible.
Q4- You can use Trailer Section of the Report.

Copy queries and reports from production to qa
Hi,
One of our customers has up to now created their BEx queries and reports directly in production
But from now on they are going to create them in dev and then transport to qa and prod.
Is there any way to transport the already existing queries/reports from prod to qa?
BR,
LindaHello,
You have to set up the transport ( Your BASIS can prepare transport landscape ) to bring the query transported from Prod to test environment
But you can copy Workbooks from Production to develpment.Open the workbook from Production ,disconnect from server, then save as new workbook or existing workbook..now log into Dev system and save workbook under required role.

Multiple queries in reports with XSL-FO and without BI Publisher
Hello,
I'm trying to find out how to create a complex report in APEX for printing. The report contains multiple queries in different layout, images and static text.
I don't have the possibility to use BI Publisher and I'm not an XSL-FO expert. However I'm trying to find out if it's possible at all not using BI Publisher.
I'm having the impression that multiple report queries and layouts in APEX can only be used in combination with BI Publisher. I'd be glad if someone could give me an example of how to do multiple queries and layout in a single report only using XSL-FO.
Thanks in advance,

Multiple queries on report builder?
I know how to create a report in report builder with a single
query but in this case i would like to create a single page report
that consist of 3 sections containing results from 3 seperate
queries. how do i do something like this?Using subreports
Subreports let you nest a report within your report. The data
you
display in a subreport is typically related to the data in
the main
report and you enable this by passing one or more subreport
parameters
to the subreport. However, the data displayed in a subreport
can also be
unrelated to the data in the main report.

Are there any examples of queres or reports for the Access DB TS can generate?
I am currently useing the default TestStand SPC database storage routine to store the results of all runs. Are there any tools, queries, reports, etc. to help me post process this database? I thought I would check here before making something myself. Mainly looking for something that will do a scatter plot for a certian test so I can see where all the data is falling within the limits.
Currently NI does not have any post processing tools to assist you in formating the result information specifically for TestStand databases. Obviously using LabVIEW or LW/CVI or some other programming language you could write your own program to do such post processing.

Export - custom queries and reports, and security profiles
We would like to keep a copy of our customizations to the application.
There are ways to import queries, reports and profiles into the app. Is there any way to export the following to something like a CSV file for the following:
- custom queries (all tabs)
- custom reports (all tabs)
- security profiles (custom and out of box u2013 all access rights)
Thanks,
JerryJerry,
There are no standard queries that extract security profiles, Query Groups, Reports or Query Defintiions from the system.
However you can build custom queries that support this functionality. During an implementation project I created some custom queries which allowed you to extract these objects for documenting purposes We likely could supply these to you through SAP Consulting. Please reach out to your SAP rep and have them Contact Me. I have created some instruction that explain how to create these.

What db-ressources are significant while runtime parsing queries in reports
I have long idle time in running a report
what db-ressources are significant
while running Report
Report compiling / Query parsing ?
i have running the same report from a AS 10g
in identical schema's
on two different instances ( TEST and PROD )
on a R11_2 orcale-db
in TEST-Instance the report does run well in some seconds
in PROD-Instance the report need more then 10 min
to analyze it I have trace_all on AS
and taken outputs in all triggers in the report
I can see,
the idle-time in the long-time report is between
the AFTER_PARAM_FORM - Trigger
and
the BEFORE_REPORT - Trigger
trace detail:
[2011/6/22 0:9:25:115] State 56016 (JobManager:updateJobStatus): Job 76089 status is: Bericht Before-Report-Trigger wird ausgeführt wird
ausgeführt
[2011/6/22 0:9:25:115] Debug 50103 (JobManager:updateJobStatus): Finished updating job: 76089
idle Time
[2011/6/22 0:20:17:459] State 56016 (JobManager:updateJobStatus): Job 76089 status is: Bericht Seite 1 wird formatiert wird ausgeführt
[2011/6/22 0:20:17:459] Debug 50103 (JobManager:updateJobStatus): Finished updating job: 76089
this is while
Report is "compiled".
Queries are parsed.
because both the reports run on the same AS
and both schemas are identical
it maybe the differences come from different the instance-system-ressources
( in the TEST-Instance there is 1 or 2 users / sessions,
in the PROD-Instance there are > 100 users / sessions )
what db-ressources are significant for performance
while running Report
Report compiling / Query parsing ?
what other reason may be for the idle-time in this report ?In your trace your idle time is between Before Report Trigger and the formatting of page 1. So, the activity is in the database.
Report compiling / Query parsing ?Compilation has already taken place when the report runs, so that's not it.
Parsing depends on the query. If the query exists in the SGA it shouldn't parse again. However, if you have lexical parameters the query may be different each time. Still, parsing is (never) a problem.
What remains: execution of the query. Trace the report session in the database.
I just use TOAD for monitoring a session and see which query is executing for a particular session. -

Report Queries and Report Layout
Hello,
I currently have several report queries with existing report layouts done in xsl.fo. I will be upgrading to Apex 4.0 in the next couple of months and I wanted to make sure that my reports will still work. I have an account on the Oracle hosted site and created a report query with an xsl.fo file.
I understand that it requires the fop.war file to run on the server for it to work, but I have used the oracle hosted site before and was able to create report queries and custom report layouts.
I am using an xsl fo editor called javaforless, which creates the .fo file and then I make adjustments to the file, before I create the report query and then load the file when I am creating the query.
The report works correctly if I use the generic layout, but I have many reports with custom layouts that will be going to Apex 4.0 and I want to ensure that they will still work. Please look at the error below and give me some insight to why this is happening:
Error opening document. This file cannot be opened because it has no page. Thanks,
MaryIs there a bug on the Oracle hosted site for reports.
I was able to run a report query with a cutsom report file (xsl.fo) on the hosted site. The file didn't throw any errors, though I don't understand why it doesn't. I had to create a blank field to have a border, which creates my lines in apex. code below:
<fo:table-cell number-columns-spanned="1">
<fo:block border-color="#404040" border-style="solid" border-width="medium" margin-left="0.0cm" margin-right="0.0cm" margin-top="0.0cm" font-size="10pt" font-family="SansSerif" color="#000000" text-align="left"></fo:block>
</fo:table-cell>My original code uses the fo:leader, which works fine in Apex 3.2 but will throw errors if I use it in 4.0.2 and not open the file.
<fo:table-row background-color="#ffffff" height="0.89cm">
<fo:table-cell number-columns-spanned="2">
<fo:block margin-left="0.0cm" margin-right="0.0cm" margin-top="0.27cm" ><fo:leader leader-pattern="rule" color="#000000" rule-thickness="2.0pt" rule-style="solid" leader-length="100%"/></fo:block>
</fo:table-cell>
</fo:table-row>Can someone please let me know why the fo:leader syntax is erroring on the Hosted Site.

Dynamic queries in report builder 6i ( ref cursor query )
Hi everyone,
My requirement is that I want to create a report where the query is dynamic. The dynamic part will be known at runtime as it is being passed via a parameter. My query looks like this :
select * from emp where sal :p1 :p2
Possible values for :p1 are - '>', '<', '>=', '<=', '=', '!='
Possible values for :p2 are - any value entered by the user
I tried creating a query in report builder based on a ref cursor. But it does not allow me to create the query for the ref cursor dynamically. That means I have to hardcode the query in the program.
I tried using place holder columns without success.
Can someone please help me ?
Regards,
AlHi,
You can use lexical paramters in the sql query
x - char - parameter
select * from emp &x
you need to pass the value for x in the parameter as
'where sal < 1234'.
Note : Lexical variable should be of char datatype.
This is an alternative to the ref cursors.
This works. Hope this is clear. -
Hi, I was wondering if its possible to build a dynamic query on reports 6i. on the report wizard I cant get a user parameter...
here is what im trying to do: I have a query where the fileds am retrieving are always the same, what its going to change is the where clause, it can be like betwwen 2 different dates ot it also could be a lot of ORs, like, Company_ID = 1 or Company_ID = 2 and such.
Thanksyes, the thing is when I build the query on the report wizard it goes like this:
select field1,field3, field4 from Table
where p_clause
so I get an error, and the query cannot be build like that, it says ORA-00920 invalid relational operator Where p_clause ==>
So I thing my problem basically is how to build the query... any idea on how to do it? thanks
can you explain me how this After Parameter works a little bit more

Would like to restrict webpulish of queries by report id?
Is there a way to restrict webpublishing (S_RS_TOOLS) by report id component?
Hello RoseMary,
Are these BEX reports? There are some ACL files via which you can restrict the program ID's of reports.
Not sure whether we are talking about the same thing though.

Queries- reconciliation report
Hi all,
I am creating a report in SRM system for reconciliation of the BANK statement which is recieved for all the purchases done.
My reqt is to read the bank file(in excel format) and compare the PO price and qty from the file data with the PO's in SRM.For all the Po itemw for which there is mismatch between the file data and the PO data in SRM,I need to show an ALV report highlightng the items for which the mismatch occured and then create an error file for these PO items on the desktop.
Secondly, for the valid items(for which no mismatch),i nee to insert the correct a/c assignment data from SRM into the input file and create new COPY of the i/p file on the desktop.
So the o/p of my report is creation of 2 files..first is the error file for all the invalid items and second is the exact copy of the I/p file with new a/c assignment data.
Also here for the second file,in the actual PO data(PO in SRM),i may have multiple a/c assignment for an item .So i need to append the items with the new a/c assignment data also in the new File.
Can anyone tell me some std FM's which I can use for creating an Excel file on the desktop?
All inputs will be appreciated.

Report Queries - Multiple Source queries - One source returns & one doesn't
Hi Folks.
Odd one here.
I have a report query entry in the Shared Components of the APEX UI.
Within the Query are two source queries.
Both return unique column names.
Both use the same bind variable.
When generating a PDF using the call to the report, the data from one query is being returned and the data from another is not.
I have generated a sample XML file from APEX which is populated with data for both queries.
If I import this into MS-Word using the BIP plugin and generate a preview all is fine. All fields using data from both source queries are populated.
When generated via a regular call within APEX it simply does not work. I only get the data from one query.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Anyone had a similar thing?
Any comments/suggestions welcome.
Many thanks
Dogfighter.

DogfighterHi Marc
Does this make sense to you?
I have now set up a simple report query and report layout.
The record ID is hard coded into the query so that it only returns one row.
I am using an RTF based template.
If I navigate to Shared Components > Report Queries > Edit Report Query and then press the 'Test Report' button it runs perfectly.
If I copy the 'Print URL:' value from this page and use it as the URL target on any page in the app. it also works perfectly.
If I try and execute the following...
update invoice_summary
set invoice_pdf = APEX_UTIL.GET_PRINT_DOCUMENT (127, -- App ID
'TEST_INVOICE', -- query name
'TEST_INVOICE') -- layout name
where invoice_summary_gsm_id = a.INVOICE_ID;
I get the pdf saved to the BLOB column with the field labels in place but no data.
Three ways of running the report.
Two of them work perfectly but the one I want (generate direct into BLOB column) does not. Why would the exact same report query & report layout work with the other two methods but not the GET_PRINT_DOCUMENT route?
It's not as if the pdf does not get into the BLOB column, it does, but it only has the labels and no values.
Any ideas?
Simon.
PS. I only have one report query and one report layout set up so as to avoid confusion. Both with the same name.
