Queries on Web Dynpro

Hi All
I have few queries
1. Is it possible to launch an external web application in new browser using suspend plug? If yes can you please share the details how can we do it?
2. Is there any API available in Web DynPro which I can use to launch an external application in new browser window on click on a button?
3. Does HttpUrlConnection work inside Web DynPro runtime? I tried to use it in a web dynpro application to check http responsecode but in all run I got exception like connection timed out or invlid url.
Thanks in advance
Sudip

Hi Shikhil
Thanks for your reply.
But sorry, I couldn't make sense out of it. The requirement is specifically having a button on the screen on click on which a new browser will be launched with an external web application.
You mentioned to have a LinkToUrl and a LinkToAction but the flow you said not clear to me. LinkToUrl doesn't have an action attached to it and user needs to click on the link explicitly for launching the url . So if I even open a new window on action of LinkToAction how can it automatically launch the url in new browser using LinkToUrl?
Thanks
Sudip

  • Using existing SAP Queries in Web Dynpro for Java

    Hello,
    Does anyone knows any tool to easily reuse SAP Query reports in Web Dynpro for Java?
    Thanks in advance,
    Diz

    Hi Diz,
    You can use RSAQ_REMOTE_QUERY_CALL (which rfc enabled) functional module to generate rfc adaptive model which can be used inside WD project.

  • Is there a way to get Web Dynpro ABAP available in a ECC 5 - NW2004 env?

    We will start developing an offline Adobe interactive form with email functionality for ECC 5 on very short terms. We have to decide asap what client/server configuration we will use for this new functionality. We will also develop an online interactive form and an offline form with upload/download functionality for ECC 5. We will have to setup a client/server configuration that supports all 3 scenario's.
    The main reason we would like to have NW2004S available for ECC 5 is because we would like to develop the forms in Web Dynpro ABAP instead of Java. Guided Procedures is a "nice to have" too, but not really important at this moment.
    At this moment we think we have 3 options:
    1. Investigate if we can make an Adobe solution in WDA for ECC 5 with our current setup
    2. Upgrade ECC 5 - NW 2004 -> NW 2004S to get WDA functionality available
    3. Install ADS for NW 2004 to be able to create Adobe solutions in ECC 5, then we will have to develop in WDJ
    1. We have the following configuration up and running: NW2004S - CRM 5 and ADS installed: both Java and ABAP stack work properly. We are wondering if we could develop an Adobe interactive form in Web Dynpro ABAP in CRM 5 using BAPI's to retrieve the data from ECC 5 and put it on the form for display or update purposes. Also we have questions about the email functionality: do forms have to be send by email via a mailserver from ECC 5 via CRM 5 and back or can this be done directly from and to ECC 5 or is it not possible at all? Also we don't know if we can develop an online interactive form for ECC 5 via CRM 5. The current setup is not a real option for us right now as we see far too many uncertainties. Does somebody can give us some answers on the possibilities we are looking for?
    2. My assumption is that upgrading ECC5 to ECC6 can be compared with upgrading 46C to ECC5. If my assumption is correct, this would mean an upgrade project with a 6 months leadtime within our company. If my assumption is wrong, please let me know. This upgrade will happen some day, but it has not been planned for 2007. So unfortunately, for us this is not an option at the moment because we cannot wait that long. I was hoping an upgrade of NW2004 -> NW2004s was not that time consuming but I guess this can be compared with a SAP upgrade project like 46C -> ECC 5.
    3. Installing Adobe Document Services for NW2004 is not our preferred solution but we think it is the safest/easiest solution at this moment to get started with Adobe interactive forms for ECC 5 on short terms. We will have to develop in Web Dynpro for Java, so be it.
    WDA is not a must but if we can find a client/server setup which gives us the possibility to build in WDA for ECC 5 functionality, that would be great. That's why I dropped the question on SDN. I want to be sure we choose the best option possible at this moment for us.
    kind regards
    Angelique

    Yesterday I got new information through SDN which sounds very interesting:
    There are technical repository integration points between ECC and the underlying SAP NetWeaver release. To get Web Dynpro for ABAP, you could install a stand-alone SAP NetWeaver 2004s system (without ERP) side-by-side.
    Somebody else wrote: we set up a 3-system landscape of NW04s and have configured single sign on and trusted RFC's so that users can hit the webdynpro pages via the portal, and those systems make the necessary queries to the backend systems via RFC.
    Does somebody know if this stand-alone system could be a proper solution for our situation? Does somebody foresee any problems related to Adobe LiveCycleDesigner or ADS?

  • Accessing portal dictionary tables from Web Dynpro project

    Hi
    Am a new to whole portal and webdynpro thing, and I hope that you can help here
    I created a new dictionary project through NWDS and created a table with columns and I successfully deployed it
    I also created a web dynpro project and I added a TABEL UI to the layout
    how can I connect or access the table I created in the dictionary project from the Web dynpro project so I can query all data to fill the TABEL UI  in the web dynpro ?
    is there a driver that I can use like JDBC where I can just write regular SQL queries ?

  • Data storage in web dynpro

    Hey people!
    Im pretty new in web dynpro, and i want to store the data i input in the inputfields somewhere.. either in a database (oracle) or xml file.. someone got any tips? and if i choose to go for oracle, do i have to create an EJB as well? or could i just write the connections and queries in the views?

    I think that suggested way is to use SQLJ in a EJB and then use that EJB in your web dynpro project.

  • EXCEL Web Query  - load into SAP via Web dynpro or standard ABAP

    Hi everybody
    I was wondering if you can run an EXCEL WEB Query from abap and then upload the data retrieved from the web into SAP using either a web dynpro application or standard SAP.
    For standard ABAP one could probably run the EXCEL web query by executing some code such as
    call method cl_gui_frontend_services=>execute
    exporting
    document = 'your excel web query file'.
    You could then save the data and using GUI_UPLOAD get it into sap.
    I'd really like to do it via a web dynpro application.
    Any ideas anyone.
    For guys who've never used EXCEL web queries --quite easy.
    Open EXCEL
    go to Import External Data
    Choose New web query
    Enter URL of where you want to retrieve your data from such as YAHOO finance etc.
    For example to get the components of the Dow Jones Composite Index (^DJA) use this url
    http://finance.yahoo.com/q/cp?s=%5EDJA
    click the yellow arrow on the table data you want to import. The arrow will turn Green and press IMPORT
    Then enter the cell number where you want to start importing data
    Hey presto you've got your data from the web.
    Cheers
    jimbo

    when you create a new webquery, in the properties, you can set when the page should refresh (data fetch to happen), you can set that to refresh at file open.
    then you can use either OLE or gui_upload to upload the excel to read the data.
    have couple of question:
    why do you want to choose excel webquery ?=> is it because the ability to get unstructured data from the web?
    what sort of data you are trying to read from the web?=> most of data centric sites (forex, stock quotes) will have either RSS feeds or some web APIs to get data which can be easily consumed by ABAP

  • Call BAPI in Web Dynpro

    I want to call a BAPI using web Dynpro.
    In my case, the BAPI without input parameter, it only give out a out table after execute.
    So that I include this Bapi in the model and directly call it in wdDoInit like this :
            wdContext.nodeZbapi_Outvendor_Input().currentZbapi_Outvendor_InputElement().modelObject().execute();
    wdContext.nodeZbapi_Outvendor_Input().invalidate();
    However, no any result can see. Anybody could tell me what is the correct way to call BAPI in WD?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    Don't invalidate the zbapi node...
    If your output can be recieved from the node say.., output from the bapi side and you mapped it to controller to node say OutVend...
    Then use this code
    wdContext.nodeOutVend().bind(wdContext.nodeZbapi_Outvendor_Input().currentZbapi_Outvendor_InputElement().modelObject().getOutput());
    Any queries revert back.
    If this is not working post your context structure in your reply and tell where you are expect the output

  • Display HTML stream in Web Dynpro application

    Hello,
    Sorry, I am new to the Web Dynpro environment, so this might seem like a stupid question.
    How can I display streaming HTML content in a Web Dynpro application.  The IFrame element only seems to allow you to point to a URL.  In this case, I am receiving an HTML stream back from an R/3 system via a BAPI call.
    Thanks very much.

    Hi
    As per your question, I understand that HTML output is getting generated through a R3- Bapi call. Fine, create a model with the data binding to the context to some text view. Simply create view with the relevant UI element through which you want to exhibit the data and call the R3 call through your model. instead of a HTML output, you will get your data in the view.
    you may not get the exact format / style of the html output.
    Otherwise, directly HTML content cannot be shown in webdynpro. You need to have some UI control to take its content.
    Or else, you can go in for j2ee stack and end up with a java based appl, use a simple jsp and get the output!
    if you have any specific queries do let us know
    hope this helps you
    thanks

  • Web DynPro ABAP - Disable a entire row in the Table of the output.

    Hi Web Dynpro Experts,
    Need ur Help.!
    I have a requirement to disable the one row of the table in web dynpro ABAP
    For example . my table is like
    Field1   Field2
    A           Success
    B            Failure
    C            Failure
    I need to allow the User to select the record only if its status is Success,if status is Failure then i should not the allow user to select.
    This enabling and disabling of the rows should be done before displaying on to the Screen.
    Please suggest me ASAP.
    Thanks,
    Akila

    Hi Akila,
    please try this.
    Create a node (Eg: TEST) of type 0-n and 0-1. Take attributes attr1, attr2, flag (of type BOOLEAN). Create a table and give the TEST node as datasource. Now using "Create Binding" create columns for attr1 and atte2. Now, bind the read-only property of the columns with flag attribute.
    Now, in the INIT method, set the table values like this:
    For examle, if you want to disable row having test2,
    ls_test-attr1 = 'A'.
    ls_test-attr1 = 'TEST1'.
    ls_test-flag = ' '.
    append ls_test to lt_test.
    clear ls_test.
    ls_test-attr1 = 'B'.
    ls_test-attr1 = 'TEST2'.
    ls_test-flag = 'X'.
    append ls_test to lt_test.
    clear ls_test.
    ls_test-attr1 = 'C'.
    ls_test-attr1 = 'TEST1'.
    ls_test-flag = ' '.
    append ls_test to lt_test.
    clear ls_test.
    lo_test->bind_table( lt_test ).
    By doing this, 2nd row gets disabled.
    Also, if you already have the internal table with values, based on some condition you can change the value of flag and bind the table to node.
    Hope this helps you, Please let me know in case of any queries.
    Regards,
    Manogna

  • Consuming BI data in Web Dynpro

    Hi all,
    Is there any way in which I can consume BI queries as models in Web Dynpro?
    If no, then is there any alternative for this purpose?
    I want to use the BI queries to display tables and charts in web dynpro..
    Thanks,
    Ankit

    Ridouan,
    Not directly related to this question, but I ask: Are you developing VC applications to be exposed off to users or for pure proof of concept cases? Because from where I see, the lack of versioning in VC makes me leery to expose it to a large user community.
    Also, do you know if VC can be hosted on a different app server and front ended with Portal? (Like WebDynPro?). If it is possible, then it's great for performance.
    Thanks in advance,

  • Showing Image in Web Dynpro using ABAP

    Hi All,
    I am new to Web Dynpro ABAP , basically my requirement is to show a image , could any one please tell me the steps to do that , i have already uploaded the image in application server using T-code smw0 , and in the layout i have taken the element IMAGE.
    I have also made the context node as Image and under that i have made three attributes named as :-
    IMAGE (Context Node)
    source (Attibute type string)
    tooltip (Attribute type string)
    visible (Attribute type WDUI_VISIBILITY)
    In the WDDOINIT  method i have written the following code.
    DATA:
    context_node TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node,
    context_elem TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_element,
    stru_image TYPE if_image_view=>element_image.
    fill structure with values
    stru_image-source = 'abc.gif'.
    stru_image-tooltip = 'Image Tooltip!!'.
    stru_image-visible = '02'. "=visible
    navigate to <IMAGE> via lead selection
    context_node = wd_context->get_child_node( name = `IMAGE` ).
    get element via lead selection
    context_elem = context_node->get_element( ).
    bind structure to context element image
    CALL METHOD context_elem->set_static_attributes
    EXPORTING
    static_attributes = stru_image.
    But I am getting the error if_image_view does not exist.
    Please help me and guide me if I am proceeding in a wrong way.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Rachit Khanna

    Hi ,
    Its very simple ....
    Dont use any transaction to upload image.
    right click on component and select
    create->mime_object->import
    suppose ur image is on desktop...
    So select the path of desktop select the image and click ok.
    U will see an MIMEs named folder in ur component and under which u will have ur image.
    now add image element into UI and there u will have source name property ...just write the name of ur image file and test ur application.
    U can see the image in output..
    (Also there are different properties of image element to set the position and other things)
    any queries ..feel free to ask
    regards

  • Web Dynpro and Oracle

    Greetings to all!
    We had been two weeks trying to develop a simple application with Web Dynpro that brings data from an Oracle database. We have defined a table in the Java Dictionary with such fields and names that in the data base. We have created a project J2EE with a EJB Entity with properties and methods for the fields of the table. For the tableView model in Web Dynpro we had to use a Java conventional Bean since it did not accept the EJB import directly. Also we have defined a system with the connection properties, user, password... of the Database. Everything seems to work fine, but sometimes we obtain the java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError exception:  com/sap/tc/webdynpro/progmodel/gci/IGCIComponentDelegate and the others just an empty tableView. Can somebody help us? It would be to us of much utility a simple project of this kind with all the properties, detailed references...
    Thank you very in advance.

    Hi Srikant,
    I have worked on similar stuff, but the scenario was a little different. I worked on creating Web Services using EJBs, but the basic part was that, the web service was supposed to interact with the SQL Server database. So maybe I can help you...
    First thing which is needed is that you have created the JDBC Connector in your Visual Administrator correctly. If you wish to cross check, you can see my answer in the following thread:
    JDBC error
    In this thread itself I have given the code which is the solution to your problem (this is what i believe). I am pasting the code again:
    <b>InitialContext initialContext = new InitialContext();
    DataSource dataSource = (DataSource)initialContext.lookup("jdbc/MyAlias");
    java.sql.Connection connection = dataSource.getConnection();</b>
    You can use this code in the method of your EJB, and then you can easily use this connection object to access your database tables using SQL queries.
    And if by any chance you are looking for a step wise procedure for creating a web service from an EJB, then give me your email address, i will send you the doc.

  • Oracle or MS SQL Server, EJB Models and Web Dynpro Application

    Hi
    I've a table in MS SQL database. I've created in Visual Admin, the datasource(jdbc/MyAlias) for the above. SQL Server has Employee Table with EmpId, FirstName, LastName and Description as its Columns.
    I want to display, modify , insert and delete entries from the Employee Table using web Dynpro. For this we have used JDBC method by which we create class file which will have JDBC connectivity and logic for getting data from backend. This class file then used for display, update and other operations. And the context is built at design time.
    This is not proper method, as this doesn't come under perview of MVC concept.
    I want to use EJB Models for this case. But I'm stuck with some problems.
    1. How do I implement EJB models in this scenario.
    2. How do EJB module (entity bean) connects to external database.
    3. What are the most logical steps to be used in this case.
    Any pointers for this will greatly appreciated with points?
    So far I was able to do create EJB module of Entity Bean type with all interfaces. But beyond this I'm not able to proceed. Do let me know the step wise procedure for this kind of scenario.
    Thanks
