Queries with date functions using PreparedStatement for multiple DB

I am developing application that uses DB independant queries. I am using preparedstatement to process the queries. I need to use date functions for query selection criteria.
for eg.
selecting the list of employees who had joined in the last 15 days
selecting list of employees who had joined between two dates etc.
where Date Joined field is a Timestamp value. To extract date no DB specific function can be used.
If I use setMonth, setYear etc.. to set params in the pstmt the query becomes complex in the above case. Can any one throw some light on how to do the above in preparedstatement or any other better alternative.
Tx a lot

Hi,
I did not mean that way. I presume that there is a timestamp value (may be a date too) column in the table. Then based upon your requirement (say before 15 days) pass the value as date (or time stamp) in the query as a parameter.
String qry = "select * from myTable where join_date <= ?";
stmt.setDate(1,myDate); // this is where you will have to manipulate the value to suit your DB timestamp or date value; you will have compatibility issues with util.Date and sql.Date so use Calendar class to satisfy.Feel free to mail me if you need further clarifications to [email protected]

  • How to  use data function using characterstics variable for calculation on

    how to  use data function using characterstics variable for calculation on  attribute as key figure

    Hi Gayatri
    Did you not see my answer for CASE because CASE does indeed offer the use of the BETWEEN clause, but DECODE does not. Let me give you a little synopsis of DECODE.
    In its most simple form it takes 4 values and looks like this: DECODE(A, B, C, D)
    This essentially means, IF A = B THEN C ELSE D
    The trick to solving BETWEEN in a DECODE is to work out algoriths where A = B. Because we don't know how many values are between 00 and 99, although I could guess there were 100 we could of course have 100 parts in the DECODE but that would be awful. How about if we look at it another way and say this:
    IF PART_NUMBER < 'SDK00' THEN pay_amount
    ELSE IF PART_NUMBER > 'SDK99' THEN pay_AMOUNT
    ELSE pay_amount + 100
    This statement only had 2 hard coded values, but how to make DECODE work with less than? Easy, we use the LEAST function. The LEAST function takes 2 values and returns the one with the lowest value. So I use LEAST(PART_NUMBER, 'SDK00') then whenever the PART_NUMBER is lower than SDK00 it will be true. A similar situation exists for the opposite function GREATEST. Putting all of this together then, you can do this:
    DECODE(PART_NUMBER, GREATEST(PART_NUMBER, 'SDK00'), DECODE(PART_NUMBER, LEAST(PART_NUMBER, 'SDK99'), PAY_AMOUNT * 100, PAY_AMOUNT), PAY_AMOUNT)
    In English this can be read as follows:
    IF the PART_NUMBER is greater than or equal to SDK00 and the PART_NUMBER is less than or equal to SDK99 THEN PAY_AMOUNT x 100 ELSE 0
    Best wishes

    Hello al!
    I created a website with iWeb but use GoDady for hosting it rather than MobileMe. The images on my Gallery page do not show at all on the external domain but they DO show when seen on MobileMe. Has anyone encountered this problem before? Many thanks!

    Just create a new page (or use the existing photo page) on your external site and use html to add an iframe sized to the page and link it to the mobilme gallery page. Works for me just fine when showing my gallery from a yahoo site.
    like this
    <iframe scrolling="off" allowTransparency="true" frameborder="0" scrolling="yes" style="width:100%;height:100%;border:none" src="http://gallery.me.com/your_account_name"></iframe>

  • COPA Assessment Cycle using KEU5 for multiple controlling areas

    Hello All,
    There is an organization with operations in several countries. There is a separate controlling area for each country. There is one controlling area, for instance, for Germany and another for Netherlands.
    A problem is encountered while executing transaction KEU5 for multiple controlling areas in parallel. For instance, when one user from Germany executes KEU5 for an assessment cycle for Germany controlling area and at the same time another user from Netherlands tries to execute KEU5 for a cycle for NL controlling area, the user from Netherlands encounters an error message u201C'Cycle XXXX 01.02.2008 cannot be started because run group 0000 is locked'.
    Apparently SAP allows assessment cycles for exactly one controlling area to be executed together. This poses a problem since the organization plans to implement SAP in several other countries (There will be one separate controlling area for each country as per the organization structure adopted by the company).
    Any ideas, views or suggestions on the aforesaid issue would be highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Soumya

    Hi Soumya,
    Did you find any text in SAP Documentation saying that "SAP does not allow cycles belonging to different controlling areas to be executed at the same time"...?
    Pls find the following text from SAP Help...
    Parallel Processing of Cycles of an Allocation Type
    Use
    Parallel processing of cycles results in considerable time savings. To process cycles of one allocation type in parallel, they must be assigned to different cycle run groups.
    You define the cycle run groups in the cycle header data. You also assign cycles to the cycle run groups in the header data.
    To process the cycles of a cycle run group in parallel, start the cycles one after the other, if required, in different sessions.
    You are carrying out a cross-company code cost accounting and want to perform the actual assessment in the individual company codes in parallel. Create a cycle run group for each company code and assign the appropriate cycles to these groups. You can then carry out the actual assessment in the individual company codes in parallel.
    When you execute a cycle, you can start a consistency check. The system checks whether you are allowed to execute the selected cycles in parallel.
    Though I didn't come across such requirement, I feel, my earlier suggestion will work out...

  • Can I use SRST for multiple sites wit separate 911 lines

    Is it possible to use an SRST (like a 2911 CME/SRST) to support multiple sites.
    We have two sites next door to each other. They are connected by fiber with Cisco switches (vlans) at box sites.
    Can I use a single SRST and have two separate 911 POTS lines setup so that each site has it's own unique 911 associated with it?
    I can create two separate Voice vlans for the two sites and I could have both 29xx interfaces in use (one for each VLAN), but can I separate the dialing out function so that each vlan uses a unique POTS line this way?
    Any other solutions other than two SRSTs?

    We have to keep the 911 dialing the same at all sites since I already had an idea like that ...but we use 911, 9911 and 8911 for everyone to reach 911 so that they are not confused during an outage.
    We will just have to bite the bullet and order 2901 SRSTs for all our small remote sites.

  • WAD 2 queries with 1 input values taking for only 1 query.

    Hi Gurus,
    Can anyone please tell me. I am working on a report 2 queries in WAD and 1 variable / input screen before running a report & 1 variable screen or filter pane after running a report. So 1.filter pane on top 2. chart (1st query) between 3. Analysis pane (2nd query) at bottom.
    Problem here is when we give input values on variable screen or input screen in WAD it is taking that as an input & applying on 2nd query (analysis pane) where it is not applying on 1st query so 1st query is showing all values & 2nd query is showing values that are given as input & filter pane is showing values that are given as input in variable screen.
    Here affected data providers is checked for both data providers. can anyone please tell me what would be the problem or how can i make input screen effect on both queries.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Sudheer,
    Is the same variable being used across both the queries with all settings etc the same? In WAD web template settings, you can uncheck 'Display same Variables for different queries only once [MELT_VARIABLES]' & check if you see the same variable twice. Try entering the same value against both & check if the Chart qry gets affected.

  • Quering with sysdate function

    hi all ,
    there is a strange thing right here ,
    i set the where clause for my database block to , ( test_date = sysdate )
    then , query caused no records to be retrieved , and i am sure that the table has records with sysdate date .
    why does this happen ?
    even if i queried the table in the isqlplus ,
    select test_date from patients ; -- then queries with sysdate date are retrieved , but if i write
    select test_date from patients where test_date = sysdate . -- there is nothing to be retrieved .?
    help ?
    even i created a new table tt with one column(cc) , and inserted the value sysdate in it ,
    when i select sysdate from dual then it works 27-NOV-12 but
    when i select dd from cc where dd = sysdate then no rows selected
    Edited by: semsem on Nov 27, 2012 11:33 AM

    sysdate contains both date and current time elements, down to seconds. You will never find a match on sysdate, unless you hit the query at exactly the right time that matches some record in your table.
    Set your where clause to:
    ( trunc (test_date) = trunc (sysdate) )
    The "trunc" truncates (removes) the time element from your date values before doing the conditional test.
    when i select sysdate from dual then it works 27-NOV-12Do this in SQL Plus:
    alter session set nls_date_format='mm-dd-yyyy hh24:mi:ss';That will enable you to see the true date and time contained in your date datatypes. Here is an example:
    SQL> select sysdate from dual;
    SYSDATE
    27-NOV-12
    SQL> alter session set nls_date_format='mm-dd-yyyy hh24:mi:ss';
    Session altered.
    SQL> select sysdate from dual;
    SYSDATE
    11-27-2012 11:47:37Note in Forms, you can use two datatypes: DATE and DATETIME The both will query a date from the database, but the DATE datatype will remove the time element in the form, so a data change occurs. If you want to see the full date and time from the database column, use DATETIME, and set the Format Mask to something that will display everything.

  • Using .vit for multiple instance

    Hi,
    I have a main vi, uses rendevous to run multiple subvis at the same time, that needs to be opened separately per user which need to open the same vi multiple times.
    I tried to use .vit, changed main vi to vit. Created new vi that calls this main.vit. However this doesn't run multiple times, only opens the first window. Then I used subVIs as vit. This even creates a bigger problem. The sub vi's that opened doesn't run.
    I think I'm missing some basic concepts of using vit. I searched the forum, found some articles but I can't find what I'm doing wrong.
    Should main vit calling several sub vit's work?
    Any tips, comments would help.
    Thank you very much.

    "CoastalMaineBird" <[email protected]> wrote in message news:[email protected]..
    VIT is not for multiple instances, it is a TEMPLATE. That means you open it up, but when you go to save it, it pretends that it's untitled, and you have to give it a new name.
    That's useful - for example, I have a TIMING TEMPLATE. When I want to time something. I open this VIT file. I insert the code I want to time into a certain frame, and run it. I usually don't save it, but if I do, I have to give it a new name.
    That way, the next time I open it, it's fresh again.
    If you want to run the same VI multiple times in parallel, you must:
    - Understand what RE-ENTRANT EXECUTION means.
    - Set the VI to use re-entrant execution.
    - Use the VI Server to open each instance dynamically.
    - Use the VI Server to CLOSE each instance dynamically.
    - Be very careful about getting data into and out of the VI in question.
    HTH
    VI Templates can also be used to run multiple instances of the same vi. If you open a .vit dynamically several times, you'll end up with several instances of the vit. Actually, this is an intended use of the vi templates. And it works great. The great benefit over reentrant vi's is that the vi templates have front panels of there own. So it's great to use vit's when you want several similar panel, without copying the code. Reentrant vi's where not intended for this. Before 8.0, reentrant vi's didn't even have panels that updated properly, so you had to use a vit.

  • Using models for multiple one-to-many table relationships

    Hi there!
    I have a database with tables that have one-to-many relationships. They
    are laid out with a standard join tables:
    A     A_B     B     B_C     C
    a_id     a_id     b_id     b_id     c_id
    b_id     c_id
    and has 1 A for n of B. In some cases, the B table also joins with
    another table for yet more information.
    My question: what technique should I use to organize a database of this
    type into JATO Models?
    I could create an AModel, for example, that would have a set of query
    field descriptors for the information relevant from tables A and B. But
    then how do I query table C when that information is necessary? Or,
    more to the point, create information in C when a new entry in B is created.
    Do the models use each other, or is that left up to the view bean (seems
    incorrect for data isolation).
    Any pointers appreciated,
    Byron

    Byron,
    You can create a separate "modifying" model for each table and do
    inserts/deletes/updates in a transaction across the tables with the
    three models. That's really the easy part.
    The somewhat more tedious part is the "join" models, but not hard to do.
    You just have to decide what you need from the different tables and
    quite possibly create multiple join models for different select scenarios.
    So let's just run through a simple two table join model.
    Create a SQL model. I usually name them based on the table joins. Let's
    use a somewhat more real example:
    table = customer
    columns = custid, firstname, lastname, email
    table = address
    columns = addrid (seqid), custid (fk), type
    ('w'ork,'h'ome,'b'illing,'s'hipping,'o'ther), address1, address2, city,
    state, zip
    Suppose we want to select a customer and show a list of all his/her
    addresses.
    I would create a SQL model class (extending QueryModelBase of course)
    called CustomerAddressJoinModel (this naming convention gets tough with
    three or more tables, so you have to be creative).
    In that model, I would create the fields just like any single table
    model. You need only include the columns you need. Maybe you create one
    join model that only has custid, lastname, firstname, type, city, zip.
    OK, so we only cut out 2 columns, but you get the point. If you had a
    table with lots of columns with data you rarely need to display and/or
    update, then you can exclude them. Probably a slick way to exclude
    dynamically, but this is straight forward.
    Another join model could have all the columns of both tables.
    So the trick is to set the static where criteria (using the
    setStaticWhereCriteria method) in the model's constructor. I think the
    sql model template has this in it.
    setStaticWhereCriteria(customer.custid=address.custid);
    Now you just set your criteria like any other model, and execute it.
    For a 3 table join, you just set the static criteria like this:
    tableA.aid=tableB.aid AND tableB.bid=tableC.bid
    does that make sense?
    You can also set the "modifying table" (setModifyingTable(table) - i
    think that's right) in the model and inserts/updates/deletes will only
    operate on that table within the model. Problem is maybe in the the
    field binding in your views. You may want to select from one field, and
    modify using another field. Can be done though, just not directly supported.
    In the next release of JATO, you will be able to set a display fields
    binding for read and write using different fields and even different models.

    Dear Experts,
    We have an issue in data transfers using ALE. We are having standalone system where E-Recruiting is maintaind seperately and the version is EHP5.

    we have created iDocs using the following filters.
    For Object P: Infotypes 0000, 0001, 0002, 0003, 0006, 0024, 0105.
    For Objects O,S: 1032, Subtype: 0010

    When we do the data transfers in Sandbox using PFAL it is transferring the data properly.
    But when we do the same iin Dev and Quality servers we are not able to do it and gettign 52, 51 errors.
    Here we are facing a strange issue. For some Users when we transfer data it is transferring data but with 52 error messgae.
    For some users I am getting 51 error where i could not transfer any data.
    For some users, when we tranfer O, S, and P related data is moving but getting mostly 52 error and all the relationships are not moving here for O,S and properly. But P related CP, BP and NA are getting created successfully.
    It is happening only in Dev and Quality server and that too some users are able to get transferred but not all.
    Where will be the issue? How can we resolve this?

  • How to use IWEB for multiple websites?

    Okay.
    I have two websites. One on a 3rd party, one on .MAC.
    Computer 1 = .MAC website
    Computer 2= 3rd party website
    I want to use computer 2 to edit my .MAC website and moved the DOMAIN file but haven't open it in iWEB on the second computer as I need to know how to open and not destroy the 3rd party website.
    How is this done?
    Thanks.

    You can rename the domain file to something descriptive of the site and open them manually. But I find it much safer to use iWebSites for managing multiple sites, over 25. I use iWebSites to manage multiple sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
    If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your original Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process.
    This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want.

    If u want to add Items data, u have to handle the Table control by writing the complete code.
    U have to write code for 2 items, when u press enter u will get new row to enter new record one by one.

  • Help with Date function in sql query....

    My question I guess is really 2...I'm trying to use the date function as a comparison in my WHERE clause in my sql command.
    1. My date format is dd-MMM-yy eg. (01-Apr-06) ... my problem is the Apr is lower case where my field in the database is 01-APR-06 so when I compare 01-Apr-06 to 01-APR-06 is doesnt find any rows. Is there away that I can make the Apr all upper case so that it is APR.
    2. My second problem is getting this "date" field to work in my sql stmt I keep getting errors and it works fine if I take my attempts at trying to compare the date.
    --------------Date Code----------------------------------------------------------
    <%!
    String getFormattedDate(java.util.Date d)
    SimpleDateFormat simpleDate = new SimpleDateFormat("01-MMM-yy");
    return simpleDate.format(d);
    %>
    <%
    java.util.Date d = new java.util.Date();
    String dateString = getFormattedDate (d);
    %>
    ---------------------------Sql statment------------------------------------------
    ResultSet rset = stmt.executeQuery ("SELECT name " + " FROM table where rdate = '01-APR-06' order by name ");
    Currently Im just hard coding the date but I need to make it so it uses the date code...so....
    rdate should equal the date from the formatted date in upper case
    something like
    rdate = <%= dateString %>
    Thanks in advance for any ideas anyone may have...

    There are sql functions upper & lower.
    SELECT name  FROM table where upper(rdate) = '01-APR-06' order by name Or you could convert the date to a string, and use the toUpperCase & toLowerCase java.lang.String methods. It doesn't make much of a difference--do you want the java compiler to do the string conversion or the database?

  • I can use iMessage with all iPhone uses except for ONE person.  That person can use iMessage with all other users, but not with ME.  What's the problem???

    I can use iMessage with all other iPhone users that I communicate with, except for ONE person.  When I send to that person, it always goes through as a text message.  This person can use iMessage with pther people, but when they send me a message, it always goes as a text.  Why can we both communicate with other people using iMessage, but not with one another?

    Hi Russell,
    1) If you have OD set up and "editor" has UID 1111, then when they log in to any machine that's bound to OD as editor, they will get UID 1111. Therefore, there won't be any of these permission errors. This is typically the recommended approach.
    2) I assume you mean "You'd prefer to not using open directory?" Whatever the case, OD isn't mandatory with Xsan -- it's just that with multiple user accounts, managing them centrally tends to be easier. For 3 or 4 accounts and 3 or 4 machines maybe it's no big deal. If you go larger, it could get a lot more complicated. That said, if you set it up such that each machine has the exact same set of users (as you said, Mary = UID 502, Fred = UID 503, William = UID 504), then you can do what you want. Mary can log in from multiple machines at the same time, and in general you won't have permissions problems. Of course, if you try and read and write the same file from multiple workstations at the same time, you will get file locking issues, which will prohibit somebody from successfully writing the file.
    File locking issues are different from general permissions errors. The former basically says "hey, someone else is editing this file. Therefore I won't let you edit it right now... you can read it if you want though." Permissions means somebody saves it, and Xsan thinks you saved it and own the file, when you really don't.
