Query a date column in consideration of daylight saving zone

Hi!
I have a database (oracle 9) column with dates that have an offset of one or two hours, one hour when the date is in winter time and two hours when the date is in summertime. I want to query the dates from the table and correct the date at the same time.
Can anybody help me with this issue?
Thx
Christoph

Hello
It would be helpful if you could provide a small test case that shows the data you have and the result you expect. For example...
WITH src AS
(  SELECT TO_DATE('15/08/2011 12:00','dd/mm/yyyy hh24:mi') a_date, 1 offset from dual union all
    SELECT TO_DATE('15/08/2011 12:00','dd/mm/yyyy hh24:mi') a_date, 2 offset from dual union all
    SELECT TO_DATE('15/08/2011 23:59','dd/mm/yyyy hh24:mi') a_date, 1 offset from dual union all
    SELECT TO_DATE('28/02/2011 23:59','dd/mm/yyyy hh24:mi') a_date, 1 offset from dual
SELECT
    a_date,
    offset,
    a_date + numtodsinterval(offset,'HOUR') new_date
  FROM
        srcHTH

  • Oracle 10g Query on Date Column

    Hello -
    What is the most efficient way to query on a date column to get all dates within the last 2 months? I use something like the following in the WHERE clause:
    billing_date >= to_date(add_months(sysdate, -2))
    However, I can't ever get the index on billing_date to be used.
    Any help is greatly appreciated...
    Thanks!!

    This is a perfectly valid way to query the data. Here's an example on my own production tables. This one has about 300 million rows:
    select *
    from   prod.tran_history
    where  tran_date >= to_date(add_months(sysdate, -2))
    | Id  | Operation                   |  Name                        | Rows  | Bytes | Cost  |
    |   0 | SELECT STATEMENT            |                              |    11M|   863M|   146K|
    |   1 |  TABLE ACCESS BY INDEX ROWID| TRAN_HISTORY                 |    11M|   863M|   146K|
    |*  2 |   INDEX RANGE SCAN          | TRAN_HIST_DATE_IDX           |  2144K|       |  2098 |

  • Querying a date column

    hi
    need help for a simple query. while quering a date column in forms6i. i am not able to retrive the data for that particular date.
    details:
    Data Type = Date
    Format Mask = DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS
    Max Length = 20
    when i enter the date (21-JUL-2008), the time comes by default as 00:00:00. I am able to query with a date value Eg: '01-JAN-2008 00:00:00' for which it retives. i presume it is taking the time as 00:00:00 for all dates. i need to retive all the details for that particular date for all time. how should i handle this?
    Thanks in advance

    If you have an entry in the date field when you execute the query then the records retrieved will have to match that field. This is often unsuitable for datetime fields so you can do this to get round it:
    Create a new datetime* item in a control block.
    Include the new item in the main block's where clause property:
    (trunc(date_column) = :control.date_item or :control.date_item is null)Add code to the main block's pre-query trigger to set the new item and the item in the main block:
    if trunc(:block.date_column) = :block.date_column then
         ::control.date_item := :block.date_column;
         :block.date_column := null;
    else
         ::control.date_item := null;
    end if;Now when the user enters a date and time the form will retrieve records which match exactly, but when they enter just a date (or they enter the time as midnight) the form will fetch all records for that day.
    You could also use forms' default Query/Where functionality but this is more difficult for end users and is a potential security issue
    http://www.red-database-security.com/wp/sql_injection_forms_us.pdf
    *I use forms 9.0.4 and date items are ok with time components but after Rosario's post I'll assume you need a datetime in 6i.

  • Date Time in Coldfusion at Daylight Saving

    Hi
    In coldfusion, I have problem creating Date Time using CreateDateTime when the daylight saving switch. For example
    CreateDateTime(2011,3,13,2,0,0) gives error.
    Also if you do like this
    DateAdd('h',1,CreateDateTime(2011,3,13,1,0,0)) gives "2011,3,13,3,0,0" ie instead of 2AM it returns 3AM. This is happening every daylight saving switch time.
    This is a bug in coldfusion?
    It should be fixed by Coldfusion.
    Thanks

  • SQL Developer Database Copy truncates DATE columns

    Hope someone can help me. I want to copy all object from one schema to another schema in my Database. I have used the "tools - Database Copy" utility and it copies all of the objects and data however when I query the DATE columns in the destination schema the time element has been truncated? Why has this happened?
    tab_h contains a column h_date of type DATE
    Query
    SELECT TO_CHAR(H_DATE, 'MM-DD-YYYY HH24:MI:SS') from tab_h;
    returns
    02-07-2012 09:54:14
    from the source table
    yet returns
    02-07-2012 00:00:00
    from destination schema? This is the case for all DATE columns in the tables.
    I noticed this was happening in 3.0.04.34 and I upgraded to 3.1.07.42 and it still happens.
    Thank you

    Maybe there's a problem getting the OS settings right; try to add this to \sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.conf:
    AddVMOption -Duser.region=USIf that works, you can try others closer to you.
    Hope that helps,

    You do not need the TRUNC here in any case.
    I don't think so. What if the user wants only data for 22nd May and the table has records with date later than 22nd also? In that case your query willl not work. In order for the Index to work, I think the query can be written like this I think Sean is right though. Use of TRUNC Function is quiet useless based on the condition given here, since the to_date Function used by OP will always point to midnight of the specified date, in this case 22-05-2009 00:00:00.
    Regards,
    Jo
    Edit: I think Sean proved his point... ;)

  • Handling invalid Dates In query for Invalid dates in date column.

    Hi,
    I have a date column in my table. This column has corrupted data so the when i use any
    to_timestamp function or any other date calcualtions my query breaks with the error:
    ORA-01843: not a valid month.
    I am aware the data is the issue.
    But i want to handle this scenario by putting nulls in the output when ever an invalid date is encountered.
    I have done some research and found the custom function is_date() on net.
    But i am not suppose to create any new function but handle it with in my query.
    Help is appreciated to handle this scenario.

  • How to query XML data stored in a CLOB column

    I don't know XMLDB, so I have a dumb question about querying XML data which is saved as CLOB in a table.
    I have a table (OLAP_AW_PRC), with a CLOB column - AW_XML_TMPL_VAL
    This column contains this xml data - [click here|http://www.nasar.net/aw.xml]
    Now I want to query the data using the xml tags - like returning the name of AW. This is where I am having trouble, how to query the data from AW_XML_TMPL_VAL clob column.
    The following query generates error:
    ORA-31011: XML parsing failed.
    ORA-19202: Error occurred in XML processing
    LPX-00229: input source is empty
    SELECT
    extractValue(value(x), '/AW/LongName') as "AWNAME"
    from
    OLAP_AW_PRC,
    table(xmlsequence(extract (xmltype(AW_XML_TMPL_VAL), '/AWXML/AWXML.content/Create/ActiveObject/AW'))) x
    where
    extractValue(value(x) , '/AW/Name') = 'OMCR4'
    - Nasar

    Mark,
    Thanks. This is exactly what I was looking for.
    After doing @Name in both places (SELECT and WHERE clause) it worked.
    Now I have one more question.
    There are multiple DIMENSION tags in my xml, and I want to see the NAME attribute values for all of those DIMENSIONs. The following query returns
    ORA-19025: EXTRACTVALUE returns value of only one node.
    Cause: Given XPath points to more than one node.
    Action: Rewrite the query so that exactly one node is returned.
    SELECT
    extractValue(value(x), '/AW/@Name') as "AW",
    extractValue(value(x), '/AW/Dimension/@Name') as "DIMENSIONS"
    from
    OLAP_AW_PRC,
    table(xmlsequence(extract (xmltype(AW_XML_TMPL_VAL), '/AWXML/AWXML.content/Create/ActiveObject/AW'))) x
    where
    extractValue(value(x) , '/AW/@Name') = 'OMCR4'

    Hi,
    If you want a variable number of columns, depending on the data found, then you'll have to use dynamic SQL.
    I suggest you don't do that. I recommend String Aggregation , that is, concatenating the variable number of items into one big string column, formatted so that ir looks like differenct columns. That is, you might get output like this:
    EMPNO MISMATCHED_DATA
          JOB       MGR       SAL
    7369 CLERK     7902      2000
    7369 PRO       7788      2100Notice that the output consists of 3 rows and 2 columns.
    The 1st row displayed serves as a header. (The actual header has the actual, generic column name, mismatched_data.)
    Here's one way to get output like that:
    VARIABLE  data_width     NUMBER
    EXEC      :data_width := 10;
    WITH     unpivoted_data          AS
         SELECT       e.empno
         ,       DENSE_RANK () OVER ( PARTITION BY  e.empno
                                      ORDER BY          e.ROWID
                             )                    AS r_num
         ,       c.column_name
         ,       c.column_id
         ,       RPAD ( COALESCE ( CASE  c.column_name

    ;You can specify any number of empnos to be included in the report.
    You really want a CASE expression that has a WHEN clause for every column in your table, but CASE expressions have a maximum of (I believe) 128 WHEN clauses. If you really have 300 rows, you'll have to break that down into smaller groups. In the query above, I used 2 CASE expressions in a COALESCE function, where each of the CASE expressions had no more than 4 WHEN clauses. You may have to use 3 CASE expressions, each with 100 WHEN clauses.
    This solution does not assume there are exactly 2 rows per empno; there can be any number.
    If all the rows for an empno are completely identical, that empno will not be included in the output. This includes the situation where a given empno is unique.
    Again, you can get separate columns for each mismatched item, using dynamic SQL, but it's even more convoluted than the query above.

  • Query between two date columns ?

    Oracle 11g R2
    I'm trying too create a query between two date columns. I have a view that consists of many columns. There are two columns in question called valid_to and valid_from
    Part Number     Valid_from        valid_to
    100                    01/01/2000       01/01/9999
    200                    01/01/2000       01/01/9999
    300                    01/01/2000       01/01/9999
    etc
    If I want to only see rows between with a date range of 01/01/2000 and 01/01/2013 how can I put this as SQL ?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    Whenever you have a problem, please post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only), so that the people who want to help you can re-create the problem and test their ideas.
    Also post the results you want from that data, and an explanation of how you get those results from that data, with specific examples.
    See the forum FAQ: https://forums.oracle.com/message/9362002
    If you want to find rows that have that exact range, then you can do  something like
    SELECT  *
    FROM    table_x
    WHERE   valid_from  = DATE '2000-01-01
    AND     valid_to    = DATE '2013-01-01'
    If you want to find rows where any or all or the range on the row overlaps any or all of the 200-2013 target range, then
    SELECT  *
    FROM    table_x
    WHERE   valid_from  <= DATE '2013-01-02
    AND     valid_to    >= DATE '2000-01-01'
    If you want rows that are enritely within the target range, it's something else.
    If you want rows that entirely enclose the target range, it's something else again.

  • Using MODEL clause and COUNT for not numeric data columns....

    Hi ,
    Is it possible somehow to use the COUNT function to transform a non-numeric data column to a numeric data value (a counter) and be used in a MODEL clause....????
    For example , i tried the following in the emp table of SCOTT dataschema with no desired result...
    SQL> select deptno , empno , hiredate from emp;
    DEPTNO EMPNO HIREDATE
        20  7369 18/12/1980
        30  7499 20/02/1981

        20  7566 02/04/1981
        30  7654 28/09/1981
        30  7698 01/05/1981
        10  7782 09/06/1981
        20  7788 18/04/1987

        10  7934 23/01/1982
    14 rows selected Now , i want to use the MODEL clause in order to 'predict' the number of employees who were going to be hired in the 1990 per deptno...
    So , i have constructed the following query which , as expected, does not return the desired results....
    SQL>   select deptno , month , year , count_

            10          1       1982          1
            10          1       1990 As you see , the measures for the 1990 year is null...because the measure(the count(deptno)) is computed via the group by and not by the MODEL clause...
    How should i transform the above query... so as the "count_[1,1982]+count_[11,1982]" will return non-null results per deptno...????
    Thanks , a lot

  • Weird problem with mysql query and data table buttons !!!!

    Hi,
    I'm using jsc 2 update 1 on windows and mysql 4.1 . I have a page with a data table. One column of the data table contains "Details" buttons.
    Source query for the table is :
    SELECT tbl_tesserati.idtbl_tesserati idTesserato,
    tbl_tesserati.num_tessera,
    tbl_tesserati.nome,
    tbl_societa.codice_meccanografico
    FROM tbl_tesserati
    INNER JOIN tbl_rel_tesserato_discipline_societa ON tbl_tesserati.idtbl_tesserati = tbl_rel_tesserato_discipline_societa.id_tesserato
    INNER JOIN tbl_cariche ON      tbl_rel_tesserato_discipline_societa.id_carica = tbl_cariche.idtbl_cariche
    INNER JOIN tbl_qualifiche ON      tbl_rel_tesserato_discipline_societa.id_qualifica = tbl_qualifiche.idtbl_qualifiche
    INNER JOIN tbl_discipline ON      tbl_rel_tesserato_discipline_societa.id_disciplina = tbl_discipline.idtbl_discipline
    INNER JOIN tbl_societa ON      tbl_rel_tesserato_discipline_societa.id_societa = tbl_societa.idtbl_societa
    LEFT JOIN tbl_province ON tbl_societa.provincia_sede_sociale = tbl_province.idtbl_province
    LEFT JOIN tbl_comuni ON tbl_societa.comune_sede_sociale = tbl_comuni.idtbl_comuni
    LEFT JOIN tbl_rel_tesserato_discipline_praticate ON tbl_rel_tesserato_discipline_praticate.tessera_id=
    tbl_rel_tesserato_discipline_societa.idtbl_rel_tesserato_discipline
    LEFT JOIN tbl_discipline_praticate ON tbl_discipline_praticate.idtbl_disciplina_praticate=tbl_rel_tesserato_discipline_praticate.disciplina_praticata_id
    WHERE
    tbl_tesserati.cognome LIKE ?
    AND tbl_tesserati.nome LIKE ?
    AND tbl_rel_tesserato_discipline_societa.id_societa LIKE ?
    AND tbl_tesserati.idtbl_tesserati LIKE ?
    AND tbl_cariche.idtbl_cariche LIKE ?
    AND tbl_qualifiche.idtbl_qualifiche LIKE ?
    AND tbl_tesserati.data_nascita >= ?

    AND (tbl_province.nome LIKE ? OR tbl_province.nome IS NULL)
    AND ( tbl_comuni.nome LIKE ? OR tbl_comuni.nome IS NULL)
    The tbl_tesserati.data_nascita is a mysql date field.
    The click event handler code for the "Details" Button is:
    public String btnModificaTesserato_action() {
            try{
                TableRowDataProvider rowData= (TableRowDataProvider)getBean("currentRowTesserati");
                getRequestBean1().setId_tesserato((Long)rowData.getValue("idTesserato"));
            } catch(Exception ex) {
                log("errore nella query",ex);
            return "dettaglioTesseratoSocieta";
        }When i run the project and open the page the table is correctly rendered and populated with some rows. But when i click on details button nothing happens, the page is simply reloaded.
    If i set a breakpoint in the code line   TableRowDataProvider rowData= (TableRowDataProvider)getBean("currentRowTesserati");the debbuger does not stop the code execution ! As if the button was never clicked!
    I tried to modify the source query to :
    SELECT tbl_tesserati.idtbl_tesserati idTesserato,
    tbl_tesserati.num_tessera,
    tbl_tesserati.nome,
    tbl_societa.codice_meccanografico

    INNER JOIN tbl_societa ON      tbl_rel_tesserato_discipline_societa.id_societa = tbl_societa.idtbl_societa
    LEFT JOIN tbl_province ON tbl_societa.provincia_sede_sociale = tbl_province.idtbl_province
    LEFT JOIN tbl_comuni ON tbl_societa.comune_sede_sociale = tbl_comuni.idtbl_comuni

    AND tbl_tesserati.data_nascita >= ?
    OR tbl_tesserati.data_nascita<= ?
    AND tbl_discipline.idtbl_discipline LIKE ?
    AND codice_affiliazione LIKE ?
    AND tbl_societa.denominazione LIKE ?
    AND YEAR(tbl_rel_tesserato_discipline_societa.data_scadenza) LIKE ?
    AND (tbl_province.nome LIKE ? OR tbl_province.nome IS NULL)
    AND ( tbl_comuni.nome LIKE ? OR tbl_comuni.nome IS NULL)
    Using this query everything works well !! The click handler works and the debugger too !!
    I changed only the AND in OR !!!
    I also tried to change mysql-x-x-connector driver but without solving my problem.
    Can someone help me ?
    Thanks
    Giorgio

    You'll find that it is more to do with the way MySql deals with dates than anything else! Depending on how your date field is setup, then try using a BETWEEN statement for those 2 lines in your first query e.g.
    AND ( tbl_tesserati.data_nascita BETWEEN ? AND ?)
    The date column needs to be in the ISO format to work. If you examine your second query output, you might discover that the output is only going to refer to one parameter (probably the OR one). Did you manage to view the output logs from the application server? You would have got an idea from there with a message like stating a conversion error'.
    Alternatively, you could try using the to_days() function and convert it directly to a number which would be a lot easier to deal with. For example:
    AND to_days(tbl_tesserati.data_nascita >= ? )
    AND to_days( tbl_tesserati.data_nascita<= ? )
    Or try the BETWEEN version with to_days() and see what you get.
    More info about date formatting (v5) here:
    http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/date-and-time-functions.html#function_to-days
    Before I forget, sometimes you may need to treat dates as Strings rather 'Long' as you did.
    As a matter of interest, did you try your query in a different piece of software?
    If my queries are a little more complicated, I tend to try MySql queries out in the free MySql query browser and also double check in another to verify certain issues. I found it easier to develop SQL in a seperate program then import the final version to JSC making the required modifications for parameters.

  • BEx analyzer 7.x: How to determine first data column in result table?

    Hi,
    we are upgrading to 2004s where the SAPBEXqueries Sheet is not used anymore. Instead there is BExRepositorySheet. Is there a way to determine first data column in result table?
    Regards, Josko.

    hi dinesh......
    please use  'INTO TABLE' instead of  ' INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE '.  and use ' FOR ALL ENTRIES '............based on relavence ....coz when I set break point  over the select queries it took me long time to execute .......
    becoz u didnt used the for all entries  in select query ............ u r read statement
    READ TABLE I_KNA1 INTO WA_KNA1 WITH KEY KUNNR = WA_KNVV-KUNNR.  .....
    it is reading wrong kunnr value .............even it took long time to execute ......
    use sort where ever required...
    use for all entries .......and check weather the table initial or not......

  • Problem inserting and querying XML data with a recursive XML schema

    Hello,
    I'm facing a problem with querying XML data that is valid against a recursive XML Schema. I have got a table category that stores data as binary XML using Oracle 11g Rel 2 on Windows XP. The XML Schema is the following:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <xs:schema xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
    <xs:complexType name="bold_type" mixed="true">

                                            </xs:complexType>
                        </xs:element>
    </xs:schema>I registered this schema and created the category table. Then I inserted a new row using the code below:
    insert into category_a values
    (XMlElement("category",
          xmlattributes('categoryAAA' as "id"),
          xmlforest ('ma categ' as "name"),
          (xmlelement("description", (xmlelement("text", 'find doors blest now whiles favours carriage tailor spacious senses defect threat ope willow please exeunt truest assembly <keyword> staring travels balthasar parts attach enshelter two <emph> inconsiderate ways preventions </emph> preventions clasps better affections comes perish </keyword> lucretia permit street full meddle yond general nature whipp <emph> lowness </emph> grievous pedro')))
    The row is successfully inserted as witnessed by the results of row counting. However, I cannot extract data from the table. First, I tried using SqlPlus* which hangs up and quits after a while. I then tried to use SQL Developer, but haven't got any result. Here follow some examples of queries and their results in SQL Developer:
    Query 1
    select * from category
    Result : the whole row is returned
    Query 2
    select xmlquery('$p/category/description' passing object_value as "p" returning content) from category
    Result: "SYS.XMLTYPE"
    now I tried to fully respect the nested structure of description element in order to extract the text portion of using this query
    Query 3
    select  xmlquery('$p/category/description/text/keyword/bold/text()' passing object_value as "p" returning content) from  category_a
    Result: null
    and also tried to extract the text portion of element <text> using this query
    Query 4
    select  xmlquery('$p/category/description/text/text()' passing object_value as "p" returning content) from  category_a
    Result: "SYS.XMLTYPE".
    On the other hand, I noticed, from the result of query 1, that the opening tags of elements keyword and bold are encoded as the less than operator "&lt;". This explains why query 3 returns NULL. However, query 4 should display the text content of <text>, which is not the case.
    My questions are about
    1. How to properly insert the XML data while preserving the tags (especially the opening tag).
    2. How to display the data (the text portion of the main Element or of the nested elements).
    The problem about question 1 is that it is quite unfeasible to write a unique insert statement because the structure of <description> is recursive. In other words, if the structure of <description> was not recursive, it would be possible to embed the elements using the xmlelement function during the insertion.
    In fact, I need to insert the content of <description> from a source table (called category_a) into a target table (+category_b+) automatically .
    I filled category_a using the Saxloader utility from an flat XML file that I have generated from a benchmark. The content of <description> is different from one row to another but it is always valid with regards to the XML Schema. The data is properly inserted as witnessed by the "select * from category_a" instruction (500 row inserted). Besides, the opening tags of the nested elements under <description> are preserved (no "&lt;"). Then I wrote a PL/SQL procedure in which a cursor extracts the category id and category name into varchar2 variables and description into an XMLtype variable from category_a. When I try to insert the values into a category_b, I get the follwing error:
    LSX-00213: only 0 occurrences of particle "text", minimum is 1which tells that the <text> element is absent (actually it is present in the source table).
    So, my third question is why are not the tags recognized during the insertion?
    Can anyone help please?

    Hello,
    indded, I was using an old version of Sqlplus* (8.0.60.0.0) because I had a previous installation (oracle 10g XE). Instead, I used the Sqlplus* shipped with the 11g2database (version 11.2.0.1.0). All the queries that I wrote work fine and display the data correctly.
    I also used the XMLSERIALIZE function and can now display the description content in SQL Developer.
    Thank you very much.
    To answer your question Marco, I registered the XML Schema using the following code
    declare
      doc varchar2(4000) := '<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

                   <xs:element name="bold" type="bold_type"/>
                   <xs:element name="keyword" type="keyword_type"/>
                   <xs:element name="emph" type="emph_type"/>
              </xs:choice>
         </xs:complexType>
         <xs:complexType name="keyword_type" mixed="true">
              <xs:choice minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded">
                   <xs:element name="bold" type="bold_type"/>

    begin
      dbms_xmlschema.registerSchema('/xmldb/category_auction.xsd', doc,     LOCAL      => FALSE,
            GENTYPES   => FALSE,  GENBEAN    => FALSE,   GENTABLES  => FALSE,
             FORCE      => FALSE,
             OPTIONS    => DBMS_XMLSCHEMA.REGISTER_BINARYXML,
             OWNER      => USER);
    end;then, I created the Category table as follows:
    CREATE TABLE category_a of XMLType XMLTYPE store AS BINARY XML
        XMLSCHEMA "xmldb/category_auction.xsd" ELEMENT "category";Now, there still remains a problem of how to insert the "description" content which I serialized as a CLOB data into another table as XML. To this purpose, I wrote a view over the Category_a table as follows:
    CREATE OR REPLACE FORCE VIEW "AUCTION_XWH"."CATEGORY_V" ("CATEGORY_ID", "CNAME", "DESCRIPTION") AS
      select category_v."CATEGORY_ID",category_v."CNAME",
      XMLSerialize(content ( xmlquery('$p/category/description/*' passing object_value as "p" returning content)) as clob) as "DESCRIPTION"
      from  auction.category_a p,
    xmltable ('$a/category' passing p.Object_Value as "a"
    columns  category_id varchar2(15) path '@id',
              cname varchar2(20) path 'name') category_v;Then, I wrote a procedure to insert data into the Category_xwh table (the source and target tables are slightly different: the common elements are just copied wereas new elements are created in the target table). The code of the procedure is the following:
    create or replace PROCEDURE I_CATEGORY AS
    v_cname VARCHAR2(30);
    v_description clob ;
    v_category_id VARCHAR2(15);
    cursor mycursor is select category_id, cname, description from category_v;
    BEGIN
    open mycursor;
      loop
      /*retrieving the columns*/
      fetch mycursor into v_category_id, v_cname, v_description ;
      exit when mycursor%notfound;
      insert into category_xwh values
      (XMlElement("category",
          xmlattributes(v_category_id as "category_id"),
          xmlelement("Hierarchies", xmlelement("ObjHierarchy", xmlelement ("H_Cat"),
                                                               xmlelement ("Rollsup",
                                                                                  (xmlelement("all_categories",
                                                                                   xmlattributes('allcategories' as "all_category_id")))
        xmlforest (
                  v_cname as "cat_name",
                  v_description as "description")
    end loop;
      commit;
      close mycursor;
    END I_CATEGORY;When I execute the procedure, I get the following error:
    LSX-00201: contents of "description" should be elements onlyso, I just wonder if this is because v_description is considered as plain text and not as XML text, even if its content is XML. Do I need to use a special function to cast the CLOB as XML?
    Thanks for your help.
