Query about import the dump
friends.
I have 100GB dump and going to import into the database.I need to know what will happen in the backupgroud of the database when running the import interms of redo log and temp.space..etc.
Could you please elabarate on this.
Thanks
import basically consists of
- create table statements
- INSERTs not using the Append hint
- Create index statements in logging mode.
Solutions will depend on the method of import used, which you don't mention, nor do you mention your version.
Typing 4 digits and 3 dots and one statement... Naaa... much too much work, and my boss beats me up when I do this.

nidhiHi Nidhi,
No, if you want to use an 11g export dump and import it using 10g utilities to a 10g database.
Yes, if you use 10g export utility to extract 11g database data, and use 10g import utility to import in 10g database.
For more information on export/import compatibility, please check:

Hello Expert
I have to Import the Incoming Payment For Particular Customer i have Used ORCT template for importing the record but what i need is to also clear the incoming Payment for this customer so that the Particular Invoice Status of this customer should be closed, How Should i do this which other Template to use or which field should be filled in the (ORCT Payment) template can anybody Explain with example .Hi......
If you want to make payment against a particular Invoice then along with ORCT you can use RCT2 for adjustment of Invoices in which you have to put the document entry in DocEntry column of RCT2 Template which links invoice to the ORCT payment and the invoice will be closed.

Question about import the work repository
I am trying to import a work repository from server B to server A, originally the work repository in server B was imported from server A, I did some modification in Server B, and export it, now I am trying to import it back to server A.
I get the error as below:
com.sunopsis.core.n: This import action has been cancelled because it could damage your repository (problem with the identifier sequences)
in topology manager/repository, I have same ID in both work repository, what should I do to import this work repository back to server A?
ThanksBad news...
Unfortunately after start to create/delete objects the sequence of each repository get its own values and is not possible to syncronize it again after that.
Until today I saw export and import only working into empty repository.
There is a way to do the work manually, controlling each repository ID but is complex and take time.
Maybe Oracle support have some script ready for that.

A query about turning the hub off?
Well, just a query really. Every night when I turn the computer off, I turn the switch off at the plug, thus turning the power off on the hub. Is this such a good idea, or should I leave the hub on all the time? I'm wondering if I'm doing the hub more harm than good.
Thanks.Hi Louise,
Turning off the Hub each night won't harm it but you'll get a better connection, speeds etc. if you leave it on all the time 24/7, just check that it's got plenty of space around it for ventilation and there are power saving settings you can apply, to save electricity, not that it uses much anyway.

Error while importing a dump file in Oracle 10g R1
Hi all,
While trying to import a schema using Data Dump, I am facing the following issue -
UDI-00018 - Import utility version can not be more recent than the Data Dump server.
Following is the version information of the source and target DB and the utilities :
Source DB server : 10.1.0.2.0
Export utility : 10.1.0.2.0
Import utility : 10.1.0.2.0
Target DB server : 10.1.0.2.0
Export utility : 10.2.0.1.0
Import utility : 10.2.0.1.0
I can figure out the cause for the problem, but don't know how to resolve it.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Gitika KhuranaHow did you get thre DMP file created and how are you trying to import the dump file? Could you post the commands you're using, please?

Estimate the Import Time by viewing the DUMP File Size
Its very generic question and I know it can varry from DB to DB.
But is there any standard way that we can Estimate the Oracle dump import time by viewing the Export Dump file size ?Well, it's going to be vaguely linear, in that it probably takes about twice as long to load a 2 GB dump file as to load a 1 GB dump file, all else being equal. Of course, all things rarely are equal.
For example,
- Since only index DDL is stored in the dump file, dumps from systems with a lot of indexes will take longer to load than dumps from systems with few indexes, all else being equal.
- Doing a direct path load will generally be more efficient than doing a conventional path load

Spotlight lists items and shows preview images. BUT what about showing the path/location address of an item in my computer.
Especially important if I've put the item in the wrong folder and what to locate it without multi-steps. iMac OS X 10.5 was more useful.
Old OSX Spotlight function automatically displayed path/location within the machine: e.g. desktop/folder/sub-folder/item.
Can I make Spotlight show the path?Press option-command and the path is displayed at the bottom of the little preview window. Press command-return and the enclosing folder opens.

Hi,
Being an experienced Excel user before Power BI, I am just starting to explore the M and Power Query capabilities, and need help already (ain't easy to google this use case somehow):
I need to import the table which sits in the Excel file with header row in the row 17 of Excel sheet, with some metadata header in the preceding rows of the columns A and B.
01: Report name, Quick Report
02: Report Date, 1/1/2014
17: Employee Name, Manager, etc...
18: John Doe, Matt Beaver, etc.
Both (a) direct attempt to load as Excel file and (b) the indirect way through [From Folder] and formula in custom column -- both lead to the same error: "[DataFormat.Error] External table is not in the expected format."
Specifically, I tried to use the [Power Query -> From File -> From Folder] functionality, select an Excel file and add a custom column to access the binary content: [Add Custom Column] with formula "=Excel.Workbook([Content])".
It looks like Power Query expects a rectangular range with headers full-width followed by a contiguous table range to import anything, and refuses to load if that is not the case...
QUESTION: Is there any way to load whatever-formatted data from Excel first, and then manipulate the overall imported range (like referring to rows starting from 17th using "Table.SelectRows" etc.) to read the actual data? Reading and using
the metadata from header would be a bonus, but that comes second... The main issue is to get something from a non-regular Excel file to later work with using M formulae ...
Thanks!
SAMFinally found the answer to this one in ():
You Cannot Open a Password-Protected Workbook
If the Excel workbook is protected by a password, you
cannot open it for data access, even by supplying the correct password with
your connection settings, unless the workbook file is already open in the
Microsoft Excel application. If you try, you receive the following error
message:
Could not decrypt file.
ANSWER: So, will have either weave in the work with temporary unprotected files or requires opening them before updating the data source (although this almost defeats the purpose of automation...)
ANSWER to ORIGINAL QUESTION: password was preventing Power Query from reading the Excel file. For solution see above.
Thanks anyway for participation and inspiration, Imke! -

Table which has info about all "Query views" in the system
hi all,
which is the table that stores information about all the "Query views" present in the system?
i searched in tables RSRREPDIR and RSZELTDIR, but i could not find any query view that is already present in the system.
regards,
RkTo know execution time, execute the query and then analyze the table RSDDSTAT using t-code se16..
i think u need to check the value of QTIMEOLAP var in the table for getting query execution time..
more info please refer the note 130696
U can execute query in RSRT also after setting options for Statistics
