Query-based  xml component in Portal

Hi
Is there anybody who suceeded in building up an xml component based on a query outside or inside a stored procedure?
Let's suppose I'd like to use a cursor in the <ORACLE> tag in order to select all elements from a table..
it seems like the reading loop is completely ignored in the xml component in Portal: by printing a hand-made raw like: htp.p('<NAME>|| CURSOR.NAME_ELEMENT ||</NAME>'); in a loop I get a single raw in the final table:
'||cursor.name_element||'
I also tried to make the selection inside a stored procedure and tried to run this from the xml component in the oracle section: I got no error, but still nothing is displayed.
Furthermore I'm not able to call an XML URL: I have this string displayed:
>>
java.security.AccessControlException: the Permission (java.util.PropertyPermission http.proxySet write) has not been granted by dbms_java.grant_permission to SchemaProtectionDomain(PORTAL30|PolicyTableProxy(PORTAL30)) at java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission(AccessControlContext.java) at java.security.AccessController.checkPermission(AccessController.java) at java.lang.SecurityManager.checkPermission(SecurityManager.java) at oracle.aurora.rdbms.SecurityManagerImpl.checkPermission(SecurityManagerImpl.java) at java.lang.System.setProperty(System.java) at oracle.webdb.xmlcomp.XMLTransDoc.Transform(XMLTransDoc.java:48)
>>
Please help

XML Component works this way :
1) All the XML tags data are presented in the XSL form.
2) If the tag contains <ORACLE> then it will be just treated as sql query or pl/sql block and the output of that will be rendered within that style.
Remember that <ORACLE> tag is just used as the same way as it is used for Dynamic Pages.
The only advantage being the data can from database within this tag.
What you are asking is, the reference should be there for XML tags even when it is running inside pl/sql block ?
Yha, we can have this as an enhancement and may be addressed in the future releases of portal.

  • XML Structure in XML Component

    Hi,
    I'm trying to build an XML component in Portal 9.0.2.
    What I need to know is the structure of the XML generated by SQL placed inside the <ORACLE> tags so I can parse it with the XSL style sheet.
    All the examples I've seen (about 2) show the sql coming out in one lump in a table, but I want to be able to parse individual columns from the SQL. All I seem to get is a default presentation of the data.
    Any Ideas ?

    Hi,
    This is not possible currently. There is an enhancement filed for this.
    Thanks,
    Sharmila

  • Portal XML Component Error when pulling content from iFS

    Has anyone tried to use Portal's XML Component application to pull XML data out of iFS via URLs successfully? I'm using iFS 1.1.10 and 9iAS 1.0.2.2a. I've loaded an XML instance and XML style sheet in iFS (that parse fine in XMLSpy) and tried to display them using the Portal XML Component application. I've also tried to cut/paste the instance and style sheet in to the Component's GUI directly and received the same error. The component finds the files in iFS fine, but generates the following error:
    Start of root element expected. at oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLError.flushErrors(XMLError.java) at oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLError.error(XMLError.java) at oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLError.error(XMLError.java) at oracle.xml.parser.v2.NonValidatingParser.parseRootElement(NonValidatingParser.java) at oracle.xml.parser.v2.NonValidatingParser.parseDocument(NonValidatingParser.java) at oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLParser.parse(XMLParser.java) at oracle.webdb.xmlcomp.XMLTransDoc.Transform(XMLTransDoc.java:136)
    Oracle's sample data works fine too..
    Seems like a basic error, but I can't correct it.. THanks in advance for any help, Tim

    At the start of the xml file u have to mention the version number of the xmldoc.
    Some thing like the following
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    and then ur content.
    Try following the same thing, with the smaller amount of data to test for the functionality of the component.
    (but keep in mind the size limitation bug has been fixed in the next release of Oracle 9iAS Portal only i.e., 9.0.2).
    And let us know, what problem u are facing.
    Thanks,
    Balakrishnan.

  • Query Based Taxonomy - Dynamic Creation of a Query Problem

    Hi,
    I'm trying to create new category nodes in a taxonomy and to assing them queries. I know how to do this, but I encountered a strange behavior. Here is the situation:
    I have a string property DocumentType. When manualy creating a query, it looks like:
    DocumentType CONTAINS "Some string"
    But when I do the same using code I get:
    DocumentType IS "Some string"
    And as a result of this, the taxanomy is not working properly.
    Here is the code:
         indexService =
         (IIndexService) ResourceFactory
         .getInstance()
         .getServiceFactory()
         .getService(
         IServiceTypesConst.INDEX_SERVICE);
         //        This kind of classification index offers functionality working with query based taxonomies
         qbcIndex = (IQBClassificationIndex) indexService.getIndex(indexId);
         //        Get a query folder - a query folder is a representation of a query based taxonomies category
         queryFolder = qbcIndex.getQueryFolder(RID.getRID(folder));
         //        List of IQueryEntry objects for the query folder
         queryEntryList = queryFolder.getQuery(context);
         //        Cast the IQBClassificationIndex into a ISearchIndex object
         searchIndex = (ISearchIndex) qbcIndex;
         queryEntry = searchIndex.getNewQueryEntry();
         queryEntry.setRowType(IQueryEntry.ROW_TYPE_ATTRIBUTE);
         queryEntry.setPropertyName(propertyName);
         queryEntry.setPropertyOperator(IQueryEntry.PROPERTY_OPERATOR_EQUAL);
         queryEntry.setValue(propertyValue);
         queryEntry.setTermAction(IQueryEntry.TERM_ACTION_EXACT);
         queryEntryList.add(queryEntry);
         //        Set the query for the query folder
         queryFolder.setQuery(queryEntryList, context);
         qbcIndex.updateCategoryContents("Document_Types", false, context);
    Can somebody tell me what am I doing wrong please. Isn't it because of IQueryEntry.PROPERTY_OPERATOR_EQUAL? Is there any substring operator?
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi, Robert
      In this moment, I have a problem with Query Based Taxonomy, maybe could you help me. I insert the query in to the taxonomy from code, but when i use the method
      qbcIndex.updateCategoryContents("/taxonomies/borrame5/Prueba2", false, context);
      I got the next exception:
    #1.5#0014C210F3D1002A000001200000565B000431CC93AD5979#1180654627543#System.err#sap.com/irj#System.err#dummy01#10241#####SAPEngine_Application_Thread[impl:3]_17##0#0#Error##Plain###     at com.sap.engine.core.thread.impl3.SingleThread.run(SingleThread.java:170)#

      I have doubt what parameters i need to pass to the method updateCategoryContents,
      Let me give some information:
    taxonomy:
       /taxonomies/borrame5/Prueba2
    repository:
       /documents/Portal_KOF/KM/Pruebas1/Pruebas Versionamiento
    classification and search index:
       borrame5
       I can't classify automatically, when i insert the query from code. When I manually insert the query from the portal, automatic classification run perfectly.
    Thanks
    Greetings
    JARO.

  • Can we generate the output of SQL Query in XML format ..

    Hi Team,
    Can we generate an XML doc for an SQL Query.
    I've seen in SQL Server 2000.It is generating the output of an SQL Query in xml format.
    select * from emp for xml auto
    The output looks like
    <emp EMPNO="7369" ENAME="SMITH" JOB="CLERK" MGR="7902" HIREDATE="1980-12-17T00:00:00" SAL="2800" DEPTNO="20"/><emp EMPNO="7370" ENAME="SMITH" JOB="CLERK" MGR="7902" HIREDATE="1980-12-17T00:00:00" SAL="2800" DEPTNO="10"/>

    Just a little bit of short hand.
    Get the XML out of your database, via HTTP
    Of course the easiest method is just to return an XMLType from a stored procedure and let the calling routine figure out what to do with it. Instead
    of that way though, I'll show you how to do it via HTTP. It's all completely built into 10g and is super easy to use.
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW emps_and_depts AS
    SELECT e.employee_id AS "EmployeeId",
    e.last_name AS "Name",
    e.job_id AS "Job",
    e.manager_id AS "Manager",
    e.hire_date AS "HireDate",
    e.salary AS "Salary",
    e.commission_pct AS "Commission",
    XMLFOREST (
    d.department_id AS "DeptNo",
    d.department_name AS "DeptName",
    d.location_id AS "Location"
    ) AS "Dept"
    FROM employees e, departments d
    WHERE e.department_id = d.department_id
    Some people hear web and immediately start salivating about security issues. Let me address that quickly. Just because you have the HTTP and/or
    FTP servers running in the database, that does not mean you have a security problem. For one, I would hope your databases are behind a firewall.
    Second, with the correct architecture (DMZ, app servers, etc) you can make this data available outside the firewall fairly transparently and third,
    just because it's on the web does not mean the data MUST be available on the internet. This is a good way to make your data available on your
    intranet. If you are worried about people INSIDE your firewall, that still doesn't preclude web based access. Follow Oracle security guidelines.
    Before I show you how to get to your data, let's talk about URLs and URIs. A URL is a Uniform Resource Locater and URI is a Uniform Resource
    Identifier. A URL is the way you would identify a document on the net, i.e. http://www.oracle.com is a URL. A URI is a more generic form of a URL.
    Oracle supports three types of URI: HTTPURIType - basically a URL (which would be like the URL above), XDURIType - a pointer to an XDB resource
    (usually an XML document but can be other objects), and DBURIType - a pointer to database objects.
    It's the DBURIType that we're going to concentrate on here. The DBURIType let's us reference database objects using a file/folder paradigm. The
    format for a DBURI is /oradb/<schema>/<table>. Oradb is shorthand for the database; it is not the database name or SID. My database is named XE
    but I still use oradb in the DBURI. For example, the view we created above is in my XE database, is owned by HR (at least in my case) and is called
    EMPS_AND_DEPTS. This can be referenced as /oradb/HR/EMPS_AND_DEPTS.
    If the view had many rows and you wanted only one of them, you can restrict it by including a predicate. The documentation for XDB has a great
    write up on Using DBURIs.In our case, we are going to write out the entire document. Now that you understand that the DBURI is a pointer to
    objects in our instance, we can use that to access the data as a URL.
    The format for the URL call is http://<machinename>:<port>/<DBURI>
    In my case, my XE database is running on a machine called mach1 and is listening on port 8080. So to see the view we created above, I open my
    browser and navigate to: http//mach1:8080/oradb/HR/EMPS_AND_DEPTS
    The created URL will be as http//mach1:8080/oradb/PUBLIC/EMPS_AND_DEPTS
    If your database is set up correctly and listening on port 8080 (the default), your browser should ask you to login. Login as the user who created the
    view (in my case HR). You should now get an XML document displayed in your browser.
    And that's it. It doesn't get much simpler than that. If you get rid of the descriptive text above, it basically comes down to:
    Create a table or view

    If you notice, Oracle formatted the data as XML for us. Our view returns scalar columns and an XML fragment called Dept. Oracle formatted the
    return results into an XML format.
    And as a side note, if you look closely, you'll see that my URL has PUBLIC where I said to put HR. PUBLIC is a synonym for all objects that your
    logged in user can see. That way, if your user has been granted select access on many schemas, you can use PUBLIC and see any of them.

  • 2 workbooks for a single query r not coming in portal.

    hi experts... first of all i donno whether this question belong to bex side or portal side...
    my problem is:
    i have single query with 10 workbooks.
    i need to embed these workbooks in our
    portal(bw report iview).
    my requirement is to supply URLs for all of these workbooks to portal team, so as to enable them to embed workbooks...
    while im trying to generate URLs for all workbooks,
    it is just generating only one same URL for all workbooks.
    i found that we can generate URL only to query default view, from our BEx side..
    anybody can help me that how to generate different URLs for different workbooks based on a single query.
    this is not a portal issue...
    i shud supply proper URLs for each workbook.
    hope i can get a solution from experts...
    thank u all

  • Query based on date

    Have you guys ever tried to write a query based on CMP?
    The EJB QL is:
    select object(a) from ActionItems as a where a.duedate = ?1
    When I deployed it to OC4J, I got the following error:
    Error compiling D:\oc4j903\j2ee\home\applications\biogen/biogen.jar: Error trans
    lating EJBQL: Invalid type for expression (a.dueDate = ?1)
    EJB QL statement : 'select object(a) from ActionItems as a where a.dueDate = ?1'
    EJB QL method : public abstract java.util.Collection ActionItemsLocalHome.findByDueDate(java.sql.Date) throws javax.ejb.FinderException
    Auto-deploying file:/D:/oc4j903/j2ee/home/applications/biogen/biogen/ (Assembly
    had been updated)...
    So, any query that is based on date will not work for OC4J, is this a bug or what?
    Thanks for the reply.
    Jingzhi

    I would post this question (and your date range question) to the J2EE group. More J2EE/EJB specific questions are answered there.
    To my understanding the standard ejb2.0 specification is weak in date comparisons for queries. I believe you need to add your date queries to your application server specific orion-ejb-jar.xml file. I'm not sure of how, I would post that question to the J2EE forum, or look it up in the 9ias documentation.

  • Downlod bex query in xml

    Hi all,
    I need to download a bex query in xml format.
    How can do it?
    Best regard
    Gianmarco

    Hi Gianmarco,
    I dont think it is possible with Bex query. However you can have a look at this doc:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/6765a990-0201-0010-4e97-8aca85883914

  • Combine query and xml recordset

    I'm trying to see what's the best way to combine a query and
    XML recordset.
    Database:
    TableA
    FieldA, FieldB, ...
    Joe, 1
    Bob, 2
    XML from Web Service
    <record id="1" att="Job A" .../>
    <record id="2" att="Job B" .../>
    Need to link TableA.fieldB to matching id attribute from the
    XML recordset.
    Right now, I load theXML recordset along side the query and
    use XPath to search the XML based on parameters from the query that
    I'm looping and output the results to screen.
    <cfloop ...>
    xmlStr = xmlSearch(xmlRecordset,"/root/record[id =
    #qry.fieldB#]");
    <tr><td>qry.fieldA</td><td>xmlStr</td></tr>
    </cfloop>
    Just wondering to see if it's good to do it like this.

    Might be faster to convert the xml to a query and then use
    query of queries with a join statement.

  • XML Component URL

    Hello,
    I currently have 3.0.9.8 portal with 9iAS on Sun Solaris 2.8. I'm trying to create an XML Component. It works with static XML created in the XML code window and our customized XSL, however I'm trying to get dynamic XML from the data server by calling the procedures in DBMS_XMLQuery (which is from the XSU package) between Oracle tags in the "XML Code" area. Using the same XSL definition, we come up with no data being returned. Is there anything special we have to do to get this to work? Thanks,
    Jon Reed
    [email protected]

    Jonanthan,
    This enhancement has been taken care in the next release of Oracle 9iAS Portal.
    Now the XML component, also supports parsing of Oracle tags given in URL.
    (thanks for the suggestion given)
    Thanks,
    Balakrishnan.

  • ORACLE in XML component

    Any suggestions please.
    I have just discovered the XML component and have some work which I want to do with XML.
    Is it possible to get the style sheet to work on the result of the <ORACLE></ORACLE> action?
    Can it do anything with this sort of instruction:
    <xsl:template match="oracle"> <!--processing for each record-->
    <ul><xsl:value-of select="oracle"/></ul></xsl:template>
    or only print out the contents of this sort of instruction:
    <xsl:for-each select="product"> <!--each product-->
    <td><xsl:value-of select="ORACLE"/>
    </td></xsl:for-each>
    Can I use this component to work on a result of a SQL command in any way?

    If am not wrong, you want the style sheet should be re-applied on the resultant output of Oracle tags.
    Yha, that is known issue filed for the future releases of Portal.
    But currently, it is not supported.
    Thanks,
    Balakrishnan.

  • Dynamic filter on time characteristics on OLAP SAP BEX query based universe

    Dear all,
    I'm currently working on the integration between SAP NetWeaver BI 7.0 and SAP BusinessObjects XI 3.1 FP 1.5 via integration kit.
    I've built an OLAP universe on the top of a BW query based on a multiprovider that contains 10 infocubes.
    Everything works fine but I need to create a filter in the OLAP universe that allows to restrict data by current date (e.g. using TIME characteristic of Infocube such as 0CALDAY or 0CALMONTH). From that filter we could start creating other conditions to compare data to different time periods.
    I've already tried to use a SAP exit variable in  a BW query but this kind of object would restrict query data only by current date and for example it would be impossible to browse data by previous years (to bypass this problem we could use restricted key figures with different offsets but we have too many key figures in the query and the number of restrictions
    would rise exponentially).
    In a relational DataBase we can do that using a "where condition" based on 'CURRENTDATE' (SQL DB2 syntax).
    Now, we need to apply the same logic but translated in MDX syntax.
    Is it possible to enter a dynamic filter in the OLAP universe or just fixed or promt values ?
    Any advise?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards.
    M.

    Hi Ingo,
    1) My question is: "How can I have to manage variable in BEX queries and in the UNIVERSE in order to obtain the maximum flexibility to create reports with measures on actual day (for example) without asking the user to promt a value ?"
    I want to use an unique BEX query to define an unique UNIVERSE. On this UNIVERSE I want to create many reports (actual day, previous day, and so on).
    If I restrict 0CALDAY with an EXIT variable then shall I be able to create a different restrictions on the same Universe based on 0CALDAY ?
    2) Another question is:
    Is it possible to insert an XML / MDX filter on the OLAP Universe with dynamic derivation of the system date ?
    For example:
    Instead of this:
    <FILTER KEY="[0FISCYEAR].[LEVEL01].[NAME]">
        <CONDITION OPERATORCONDITION="Equal">
            <CONSTANT CAPTION="Z12008"></CONSTANT>
        </CONDITION>
    </FILTER>
    Is it possible to insert a tag with a dynamic function to derive the system date ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards.

  • XML Component FileNotFoundException Error

    I am using 9iAS r2 and am trying to use the XML Component. The source for my XML is a URL, this point to Oracle Reports and is working an produces valid XML, the XSL is static (entered in the dialog box).
    When I try and run the XML Component I get the following error:
    java.io.FileNotFoundException: http://XXXXX:7779/reports/rwservlet?exp5&p_lmtnum=12 at sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.getInputStream(HttpURLConnection.java) at oracle.webdb.xmlcomp.XMLTransDoc.Transform(XMLTransDoc.java:129)
    If I take the XML that the above URL returns and paste it into the XML source dialogue box everything runs fine. Also if I save the XML the above URL returns to a file and store it on the same server as a static file it runs fine.
    I have also tried setting the caching on Reports so the XML is returned almost without any significant delay.
    Any ideas,
    Jon

    The problems turned out to be related to an authtication error. The XML component was not passing the authtication through to reports, despite being logged in to create the XML component.
    If I added authid=user/pwd to the report request query string this resolved the problem,
    Jon
