Query Comparison in DEV, QA and PROD

Hi,
Is there any way to compare the queries in DEV, QA and PROD to make sure that all the boxes have all the queries (provided we have followed the system landscape like transporting from DEV to all other two).
If not (this is happenning most of the time, because users are creating queries directly in PROD), we have to compare each and every query against the particular Data target in all the three environment.
We want to have a control in such a way that all queries are only created in DEV by the users and we will transport to QA and PROD. Once after making sync between landscape, we will restrict the access to the users to create directly in PROD.
Please help urgently.
Thanks,
David

Hi,
Use S_RS_COMP and S_RS_COMP1 for BEx security and specifically for Query use S_QUERY.
Cheers,
Kedar

  • How to set up DEV, TEST and PROD environment?

We have used BI publisher Enterprise (standalone), Oracle BI Publisher 10.1.3.4.1. Our admin set up DEV, TEST and PROD environment based on the folder. For example, there is DEV folder, TEST folder and PROD folder. Developer is developing reports under DEV folder. Under TEST and PROD folder, there are many sub-folder based on the login user role. Sometimes a report has to be assigned to a multiple sub-folder under PROD. So our admin create symbolic links in the Linux box which BI server is located. That way, if a report is updated, there is no need to update the report in all sub-folder.
The issue I have is we are not allowed to touch any files under TEST/PROD folder. Only admin will move the report from DEV folder to TEST/PROD folder because those links admin created might be broken. However, as a developer, we still have permission to delete/rename/copy report under those restricted folders. Yesterday one report under PROD has been renamed by a developer. And admin complains because the links he has created not working anymore. Just wonder if admin doesn't allow developers to touch the reports under those folders, is there a way to remove the write permission on those folders? Also do you think this is a good practice to set up DEV, TESDT and PROD environment? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

  • In SAP BW landscape we should have separate servers for DEV, QA and PROD

    Hi all,
In SAP BW system landscape we should have separate servers for DEV, QA and PROD.
whether one server is enough for DEV and we can use virtual servers to QA & PROD?
    Regards,
    chandu

    Hi chandu,
In my previous Organisation we got exactly the same landscape for BW as you described.BCS(BAYER COPSCIENCE LTD) operates a BW System Landscape with one centralized  Global Development System and three regional Quality Assurance and Production Systems located in Europe, Asia Pacific and Americas. This Landscape is to ensure consistent data models to be available in all regional systems as well as to minimize development efforts and make use of respective synergies.
This is perfectly working  for BCS ,and I think, this is the most approriate way of handling of resources.

  • OWB10gR2 : One Repository and Multiple Enviroments(Dev , QA and Prod)

    Hi All,
In 10gR1 , Runtime repository and Design repository used to be 2 different schemas. Because of this , we can simply have one repository in development and deploy the mappings into QA and Prod.
In R2 , runtime and design objects are present in a single repository. Do we need to install separate repository for each of the environments(Dev, QA and Prod) or is there a way to manage multiple envs without multiple repositories?
    Thanks in Advance
    Mallee

    Hello Malle,
We are in a similar situation so our setub looks something like this.
We have a database which serves the purpose of design repository. Let's call it owbdev.
We have three target databases (data warehouse). Let's call them whdev, whqa, whprd.
In the db owbdev we configured an owb user (as owner of the repository) and various other users (as developers).
In whdev, whqa and whprd we did the same configuration except this time, we called the repository owner in each of these target databases, owbrun. This will be what we call in R2 our control center.
Then we deploy from owbdev to any of the three targets after having setup the appropriate locations and control center configurations in owbdev.
If there is a better way to do things I'm open to any and all suggestions.

  • Hierarchy Inconsistent in DEV/Q and Prod

    Hi All,
I created a GL Account hierarchy in DEV, QA and Production separately. I added all the GLs similarly in all the 3 systems, the issue is for some reason one GL Account from the hierarchy is not getting picked in the report output only in Production. On the other hand, the same GL is showing up in the report in Dev and QA. Again when I create a power user report, the amount against that GL show up. I tried all the possible ways to fix this, i tried recreating the hierarchy in prod already twice and every time amounts for only one specific GL don't get displayed in the report output. Can anyone suggest a way to fix this?
    Thanks for your help!

is your hierarchy generic or sap standard, make sure our hierarchy is activated in rsa6 PRd qas and dev system, replicate the data source in BW system and do a test run and load in to PSA see if its shows in PSA and also check the value in  Hierarchy tcode( dont recall it on top of my head). if it all works then something in the query is cauing the issue could be some filter.

  • Dunning report difference in dev, testing and prod server in sap

    Hi all..
we are facing a problem while executing the tcode f150 in dev, tsting and production server.
while giving the same run on and identification, the different parameters are coming and the status is geting changed.
in ker,the process is getting compelted,in testing the process is getting sceduled, complete but getting the status as"process completed but job deleted".
and in production, the status like testing server is coming but some tabs(from the too bar where delete, etc lies)are not getting to see,its not showing up.
please tell me if we can check it through some tcodes,or eliminate the eorr.
we are not able to locate the cause behind.thanks in adv.

  • Transport using CMS between Dev, Qual and Prod

    Hi,
I'm a little bit curios if there are others out there using CMS for transport in a XI production line -
    Dev -> Qual -> Prod.
My company is using it, and it seems to me that at consolidation stage, you can only select transports related to a SWCV and NOT select transports individually or related to a namespace?
    Anyone?
Our version is XI 3.0 SP14 latest patch.
    best regards
    Torstein Nesby

    Hi Torstein,
I saw your other threads related to this as well as your thoughts on 'Quality Feedback' (which I agree with btw). It sounds like you may have been able to come to a resolution to a problem that continues to cause me issues. Can you review and provide some guidance on the following please?
    Current Environment / Setup:
    - XI 3.0 system, SP12
    - Single SLD with appropriate Group / transport Targets setup
    - Single IR Track, Single ID Track
    - CMS usage for transports. Successful from Dev to QA, QA to Prod has not yet been attempted.
    - SWCV are setup in IR and are specific to tech system / product. For example there is a SWCV for Peoplesoft where all related message / data types for Peoplesoft are located. There is another SWCV for SAP, another for Oracle,  etc.
    - Message Mappings and Interface Mappings are created in the target SWCV. This means that a single interface will normally consist of 2 SWCV to be migrated.
    - Currently migrations are bundled in Transport (export) lists vs change lists when migrated out of the Dev environment
    - As an aside, I understand the approach of effectively setting up a SWCV per interface with Usage dependencies across SWCV's for reuse of data / message types, however this is the architecture that was recommended at the start of development for this first release.
    What I am attempting:
    - In the Assemble tab in the transport Studio I want to be able to use a 'Subset Assembly' option to selectively choose which transport / change lists to allow to go to production.
    - Based on reading the SAP Help in the XI system, numerous SDN Posts, the SAP docs "Using CMS for XI 3.0" and "How to Transport XI Content Using CMS" it appears this option should be readily available for both the IR AND ID.
    Issue:
    - For both the IR and ID when I go to the Assembly tab and get the subsequent popup (after "Assemble Components") the "Subset Assembly" option is not visible. Supposedly when going to this Assembly tab, selecting a specific SWCV (not the default 'All Components' option), and choosing "Assemble Components" generates a popup with a checkbox listed for "Subset Assembly". I get the popup in both the IR and ID but the "Subset Assembly" checkbox is not part of the window.
The docs are somewhat unclear in this area. It alludes to seeing this option after the initial migration to Prod is done (which again we have not done yet), but only mentions this in the context of the ID. Another doc alludes to seeing Emergency Transports created in CONS (QA) as if that may be a pre-req to having that option, but is a weak reference.
    Can you advise on:
    1) Do you see the "Subset Assembly" option in the popup?
    2) If so:
    a) Did you see it prior to the inital migration to Prod?
    b) Do you see it for both the Directory and Repository in the Transport Studio Assembly?
    3) Any other thoughts on why I'm encountering this issue?
    Thanks for your help!

  • One PI system for Dev, QA and Prod..possible?

    Hello Experts,
I have been told that there will be just one PI system, for development and the same has to be used as QA in IST and for Production...
I have 4 scenarios , 2 are JDBC to Proxy and 2 are file to proxy..
Hence, I have to connect to ECC as well for the proxy...
    Is it possible????
please put  forth ur views on this...
    Regards,
    Teja

    Hi Guys,
    Thank you for ur reply
I believe this is a temp solution before the real hardware arrives...
Hence, dev can be ready by then  but the point is that ther is ERP for dev, ERp for QA and ERP for Prod...
How can i connect the same Pi system to three different erp s??
    as all scenarios have proxy...
Can u pls throw light on this?

  • DEV,QAT and PROD

    Hi all
Can we have 3 clients in the ECC system where one client can act as the DEV system, the other as QA and the other as PROD.
Is this possible? Its just for testing purpose(sandbox)
    Thanks
    Anish

    possible yes, but really dangerous.
Why? all client independent objects that are modified in your DEV client will be automatically be accessible in PRD without any testing.
Programs are client independent, so, a change to a program in DEV would be also changed for PRD client.
    that's a big no-no.

  • Best way to deploy ODI artifacts across Dev,UAT and Prod

    Hi All,
We have a requirement wherein we have to deploy the ODI artifacts from one repository to the other across various instances.
From what I learned from the export and import operations in Oracle Data Integrator documents provided by Oracle, we need to have Internal Identifiers (IDs) for each and every export and import. And while importing the work repository, we have to delete the old one and then import the new one.Is there a way where we can use the existing identifier and just append the changes?
Do we have any better way of deploying the ODI artifacts across Dev,UAT,Prod instances that would import the artifacts and also import the changes to the existing artifacts?
Any kind of information related to deployement is higly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,

For ODI specific questions please post to ODI Forum at Data Integrator
    Hope this helps
    Thanks & Regards !

  • SAP BW system ID for DEV, QUALITY and PROD

    Hi experts,
I have a scenario where I require automatically, the BW system that I have currently logged on, depending on the system my data resides in.
That is, if I am in the Development system, it should be DEVCLNT123, if Quality it should be QACLNT123, and if Production, it should be PRODCLNT123.
Is there any way this can be achieved across the 3 systems in the BW landscape, generically? If so, how can it be done?
    Thanks in advance.

Please be clear while you frame your questions if you expect us to advice :
where I require automatically, the BW system that I have currently logged on, depending on the system my data resides in ??? doesnt make any sense to me

  • Abap Query missing in Dev & Production

    Hello all,
I've got a query report named AQFKSYSTQV000004ZLISTMAT====== which does not have infoset neither user group assigned, however it can be lauch through SE38.
    As seen on FM RSAQ_GENERATE_PROGRAM.
    * Namenskonventionen
    * AQwwbbbbbbbbbbbbqqqqqqqqqqqqqq:
    *   ww             - 00..99 Mandant 000 bis 099 im Standardbereich
    *                    A0..YZ Mandant 100 bis 999 im Standardbereich
    *                    ZZ     im globalen Standardbereich
    *   bbbbbbbbbbbb   - Benutzergruppe
    *   qqqqqqqqqqqqqq - Query
    Query: ZLISTMAT
    User Group: SYSTQV000004
I already launched START_REPORT with usergroup SYSTQV000004 and query name ZLISTMAT, look up through SAP Notes, report RSAQR3TR import/export utility, but this can't be done because it does not exist in our client
We're on an upgrade from 5.0 to 6.0 and SAP suggests not to tranport OT between different systems.
Question is, how can we find out where Abap Query is defined?
Thank you and have a nice day,
    Ruben.

    Hi Ruben,
You could try the following Work around
    1. Goto Table TRDIR with your program name and find who created the program. This would mean that the Quick View has been created by the same person.
    2. Goto transaction SQ01 in each of the available clients of your system and goto the following path QUERY->Convert Quickview
    3. Now give the user name from TRDIR in the field USER and use the F4 of the field Quickview to check if the Query ZLISTMAT exists in the same client. If it does convert it into a ABAP query and then using the download option in SQ02 move the query to the Dev environment and Prod also if required.
    Hope this helps.

  • Promoting Universe from BI Dev to BI Prod

    Hi Expert,
I have created one universe on Bex query in BI Dev server and I want to export this universe
    in my BI Production.
My Bex query is already transported in BI Dev to BI Prod.
While I am promoting my universe from BI Dev to BI Prod through LCM it is promoted in BO Prod but,
connection is still referring the BI Dev it is not change in BI Prod.
    Thanks and Regards
    Lalit Kumar

Neither LCM nor Import Wizard will change the application server / SAP system that the connection points to.
Log into Universe Designer in your production environment, import the universe, re-point the connection parameters and export the universe to the CMS again.

  • Can CHARM be activated if QA and Prod systems not defined yet?

    Hi All.
We are starting to upgrade our system from CRM 4 to CRM 7.
Is it possible to setup/activate CHARM to manage transports for the CRM 7
system eventhough we only have a development system at the moment.
Our Basis Team will start defining the QA system next week and later the prod system.
I remember that when CHARM was activated on the CRM 4 system, the SolMan consultant mentioned that the environment (dev, QA and prod) should be all defined before activating CHARM. Is this true? Can we just define a dummy client?
    Thanks,
    Tess

    Hi Tess,
    yes, it is possible.
Via transaction SMSY you can describe the planned Q- and P-System at first as 'virtual'.
Create transport routes with transport buffers as you would do for existing systems.
For experimental purposes we connected our IDES-System to our development SolMan system.
In this environment we could map such a ChaRM-configuration.
In the meantime we practiced it in our production SolMan system, too.
    Best regards
    Horst
