Query designer and Standard deviation result rows

Hello everyone,
Here is my problem.
I have a key figure for which I do not want any decimals. So in the Number Format : Number of Decimal Places = 0.
I thought the result rows would follow the same rules by not displaying any decimals.
But using the Calculate Result as ... "Standard Deviation", even though my key figure is define with no decimals, the result row displays 5 decimals anyway !
Why? and is there any way I can suppress the decimals of my results rows with a Standard Deviation
Thx

Hello Jean,
First I would try to unmark flag 'Use default Settings' below Number of Decimal Places in Query Designer.
If this doesn't help you could set Decimal Places in the Provider specific Properties in Key Figure of the MultiProvider used from 'Not defined' to 0.
Also you could change the number of decimals in InfoObject maintainance of used Key Figure (in RSA1).
But then you have to check other queries where this Key Figure is used.
Kind regards
Klaus

  • Making a Bell Curve in Numbers or MS Office for MAC: I already have mean and standard deviation

I hope my question is a simple one with a simple answer: I have the results of a mid-term and the professor gave us the mean and standard deviation of the results of the exam from which he based our grades. I am a visual person and (to be honest) without having to put forth a lot of effort, I would like to see visually where I fall on this, admittedly, artificial curve. I have both Numbers and MS Office on my MacBook Pro. Is there an easy way to create a bell curve using these numbers? It seems like there should be since those are usually the only numbers needed. I just, honestly, don't want to do the tedious work myself.

Statistical functions including several which deal with normal distribution, are discussed in Chapter 10, Statistical Functions, of the iWork Formulas and Functions User Guide. This useful guide may be downloaded via the Help menu in Numbers '09. Go to chapter 10, or for a direct route, search 'normal distribution'
For what it's worth, you can find the formula  for calculating the coordinates for the bell curve here: The-Normal-Distribution-Or-Bell-Curve

  • Difference Beetween Query Designer and Adhoc Query Designer

    Hello!
can any one explain me what exactly is Adhoc query designer and how is it different from  Bex Query designer. can you please provide me links for Adhoc query designer (not to Bex query designer)
    with regards

    Hi Ashwin,
    See this link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/1f/03223c5f00612be10000000a11402f/content.htm
Basically the Adhoc query designer is a web item that you can include in a web template to allow the user to create or change queries in the web environment. It has some limitations like you cannot use variables, and can only use one structure.
    Hope this helps...

  • What do mean and standard deviation in LAB histogram represent?

I am trying to use Photoshop to obtain numerical data on the colors of a  number of images using the LAB colorspace. In this colorspace, the  ranges of L, A, and B are 0 to 100, -128 to +127, and -128 to +127,  respectively, yet when I view images in this colorspace in Photoshop,  the histogram comes up with means that are always positive and in many  cases outside these ranges. What do the mean and standard deviation in  the Photoshop histogram actually represent?

Each channel still consists of (width in pixels x height in pixels) pixels of values between 0 and 255 (in 8Bit that is).

  • Parsing XML and pulling out results rows only

    All,
I need a bit of direction here, hopefully someone can help.
    Here is the situation..
I have a Web Template that has the XML dataprovider only. Meaning, when I execute it, I get a blank screen because I am not using any other item. This is expected.
The query works as designed and the XML data in the source of the web page is correct.
Now, I want to be able to read (loop thru the XML data) and display the data in an HTML table for display to the end user. (Actually, I would like to only keep the "REsults Rows" from the XML data)
Does anyone have any javascript/XSL/etc that takes the data from a web template, via the XML dataprovider function, and is able to process the data (XML data) and display as an HTML table on the same page?
I am having a hard time finding any information on reading an XML dataset from the WAD and displaying it with any sort of success.
I found lots of weblogs and threads about some similiar functionality, but it wasn't exactly what I was looking for.
Here are some of the links I found..
Re: XML Data Provider - Information
I also found other threads from here, but none of them was exactly what I was looking for...(They were along the same lines as the first link!)
I hope someone can help me out. Due points and my ever gratitude to whomever can help me on this one!
    Cheers!

  • Problem with Queries Structures in Bex Query Designer and Universe Designer

    Hi everyone,
I have a problem when i try to do a Universe from a Bex Query Designer.

    EJ:
    1) Bex Query Designer

The universe dont translate the two Characteristic Restrictions in the structure ZSRT_123.
Any information would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi,
I assume that you are using BOE XI 3.1 SP2.
We have added an option in SP2 to generate or not the L00 level.
Unfortunately this option applies not only on characteristics but also on hierarchies, hierarchies variables and structures: that's the reason why you have no elements belonging to the structure generated.
I recommend to always generate L00 in order to have your structure generated correctly.
This issue will be fixed in SP3.

  • BEx Query Designer and Exceptions

I have a simple enough task.  I was tasked, with marking items on a query with an exception, however the value is not static.  I have a column marked hours, and five columns for each day of the week.  The current day with data should yield an exception if the current day has less hours the the calculated hours column.  So my first approach was to create a formula where I evaluate both the hours calculated from the query and the current day. I called this field fday1.  I created an exception stating that if fday1 = 1 then to mark the field Bad3.  but I want the affected structure to be the Actual Day such my column days are: Day 1 (current date), Day 2 (current date + 1) etc... but when I visit the query (ie, adhoc query) only the formula field fday1 has the exception day triggered.  In the exceptions list  I define the keyfigure fDay1 (time of evaluation [before list calculation]) Under the display tab I have exception affects data cells for the following structure elements: Day 1 (current date).
like If I execute this query through the portal the exception shows up correctly on the proper field.  if I execute the query through the adhoc (BEx Ad Hoc Analysis) view, then the wrong field has the exception.
any thoughts on a better way to approach this query?

Nobody has a solution in order to highlight the whole row (characteristic and key figures) for a value of a key figure ?
With WAD or Query Designer, I'm trying to highlight a line with an exception on a key figure but it apparently colors only key figures.
For example i would have entire colored rows for negative key figure :
    field1:a field2:x field3:e key_figure:1
    field1:b field2:x field3:e key_figure:7
    field1:b field2:y field3:e key_figure:-5
    field1:d field2:z field3:j key_figure:1
I can use WAD or Query Designer but not Visual Composer or Report Designer...
    Thanks for help.

  • Query with a condition - Overall results row displays incorrect value

    Hi All,
I have a bw query with top 40 conditions. However, The Overall Result Row Figures Do Not Equal The Sum of the Column Rows.
Although the top condition is activated, the overall result still displays the overall result of the whole report.
I have 3 columns in the report
    Selected Period
    Prior Period and
    Variance
The formula for variance is (Selected Period/Prior Period)-1.
Does anyone have an idea to fix this?
Thank you so much in advance.
    Have a great day!

    Hi Gaurav,
Thank you so much for your reply, however this does not solve fully the issue.
Changing the properties to "Summation" will indeed provide me with the correct sum for the "selected period" and "Prior Period." However what I need in the Overall Result Row for the "Variance" column is not the total but instead the value when the total of Selected Period is divided by Prior Period then minus 1.
Overall Variance = (Overall Selected Period/Overall Prior Period)-1
Do you know a way to make this possible.
    Thank you so much.

  • Query with Top N Condition (Result Row)

    Hi,
I made a query with an active top n condition. The query has 2 Keyfigures and 1 formula
    Gross-sales acutal | Gross-sales previous year | Previous Year %
So that to result line is correct, I had to say "Calculate result as summation" for the keyfigures
gross sales actual and gross sales previous year. That works.
I have the problem with my formula. the formular for previous year % is defined as follows:
gross sales actual %A gross sales previous year
    Example Top 3 Customer
gross sales actual          gross sales prev. year         prev. year %
    Cust 1          100                                   80                                       125 %
    Cust 2          90                                     45                                        200 %
    Cust 3           80                                    60                                        133 %
    Result          270                                   185                                       142.8 % ( 350 * 100 / 245 )
The result of 142 % is the correct result without the condition top 3. with the top 3 condition
    the result should be 270 * 100 / 185 = 145.9 %
Additional customer without top 3 condition
    Cust 4          50                                       40                                        125 %
    Cust 5          30                                        20                                        150 %
It shows the correct result for each single line. The result in the result row is wrong. it is calculated
without taking the active condition. the formular calculates
with the total gross sales actual and the total of gross sales prev. year.
is there any solution the achieve the correct % in the result row?
    thanks for your help.
    Pascal

Pascal, this is a known behavior with conditions. When you apply condition it just hide the extra rows and it does not impact the result row.So your result row actually shows the value irrespective of the condition you apply.
Now with the help of local functions like calculate result as summation you can show the correct sum after applying the condition but when you try to use that result in some calculation then it takes the original value thereby discarding the calculated value.
Same is happening in your case as well. Its taking the original value i.e 350 and not the calculated sum after condition i.e 270.
    Hope this helps.

  • Strange query plans, and so different results from a view.

In my database (11g), I have a currency exchange rate table, which contains all currencies and their exchange rate to USD. I need to have a number of different exchange rates - To GBP, EUR, etc...
To accomplish this I have created a view, which has one union statement of all the USD exchange rates, with the same data joined back on itself to give the exchange rates based on their exchange rate to USD - ie: SELECT b1.Date, b1.Currency AS FromCurrency, b2.Currency as ToCurrency, b1.Rate/b2.Rate as Exchange Rate FROM Rates b1, Rates b2 on b1.Date = b2.Date
This view works fine when I query it, and returns the data as I expect.
I have a second view that is joined to this view to give a return of the amount in each currency for reporting. This view seems to work correctly when I narrow down the search requirements and have a small set of data.
The issue I am having is when I query the second view and get it to return all the data. Instead of receiving 4 rows per transaction (I am only interested in 4 exchange rates for display) I typically receive up to 2 rows. The first record is for the conversion to USD, the second record is for the conversion to the supplied currency. The issue is that this exchange rate actually includes the aggregate for all 3 other requested currencies (not the USD).
So instead of getting something like:
Amt RC BC (Amt = Amount, RC = Reporting Currency. BC = Base Currency)
    60 GBP GBP
    80 EUR GBP
    100 USD GBP
    1000 ZAR GBP
    60 GBP USD
    80 EUR USD
    100 USD USD
    1000 ZAR USD
I get the following set of results:
    1140 GBP GBP
    100 USD GBP
    100 USD USD
Has anyone come accross something similar or have any ideas on how I can resolve this?
    Thanks
PS: I can get both sets of results from the same view depending on the filter criteria. Also if I convert the exchange rates into a table, it then returns the correct results as expected.

The idea is to seek help in solving the problem. I was hoping that perhaps someone had experienced the same thing - different results for "effectively" the same query:Well, that's the issue... without additional info, it's not clear what issue you were seeing.
SELECT * FROM view WHERE Date = '01 January, 2012'
    verse
SELECT * FROM view WHERE Date > '31 December, 2011' ORDER BY DateNow it's a bit clearer. That second query is not "effectively" the same as the first query. If the date column is in DATE format, then you ought to have a to_date() around the date string to explicitly convert it into a date so you can do date-to-date comparisons correctly. Also, DATE datatype stores times as well as dates, so asking for data matching midnight of a specific date is different than asking for data greater than midnight of the previous day.
If the date string is a string, then ... well, the string "31 December 2011" is greater than the string "31 August 2013", despite it being an earlier date. This is why making sure you're using the right datatype for the job is important - a date is different to a string that just happens to contain a date.
    DateID
I have no objection to using a Date but always struggle to understand what someone means when they tell me "06/07/2012" - granted if the day is above 12 or the same day and month I don't have a problem - but it still leaves 121 days a year that are confusing. sure, but just because you find outputting the display (or rather, someone else's output) confusing doesn't mean you still shouldn't use the correct datatype. Store things as a date, and you can then output it in whatever format you like. Try doing that with a string or a number.
Don't say it doesn't happen as I got a birthday card from a company in May this year when I have specifically entered my date of birth as being the 5 of a month (name drop down box on their website)!Just because someone else doesn't understand how to work with dates correctly doesn't mean you can't! It's not exactly rocket science, after all!*{;-)

Ideally when that query is executed a pop up box should be opened to enter a value of the variable. But when that query is opened in BW 3.5 BEx Analyzer, instead of pop up box the error message " Error specify a value for the Variable ' Variable Name '  " has been displayed. Please help me to resolve this problem

    Hi,
Once a query opened and changed in the BI7.0 query designer u can not use the same query in lower version.

If u need the 3.5 query just keep as it is , and copy the same query in different name and open it in the BI7.0 and do the changes.

  • Query with a condition - Overall results row is wrong

    Hello,
I have a query that uses a condition.  The query gives me the top 10 brands according to the Net Sales.  The query itself runs fine.  I just noticed however that the Overall Result row isn't giving me the correct number.
    For example:
    <b>BRAND            NETSALES    MARGIN %</b>
    Brand1           $100        25%
    Brand2           $60         10%
    Brand3           $20         15%
    <b>OVERALL RESULT   $210        2%</b>
As you can see it does not add up or average correctly.  This query has no macros or anything, it only uses a condition.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,

    Hi Prashant,
We don't have any Transaction Codes for these.
Since these are installed along with the SAPLOGON BI components, it cannot be called using a standard transaction.
You have to use only .
Goto Start -> Programs -> Business Explorer -> Web Application Designer/Report Designer/Query Designer.
