Query Designer - Formulas in Results Row

Hi,
Is it possible to have a formula based purely on values in the results row? e.g.
                          Col A      Col B           Col C   ColDl
Results Row       4             5                 1          40%
Where Col D is Col A as a percentage of the total. I can create a formula for individual rows but not for the results row where it just seems to sum individual percentages.
Thanks

Hi Gaurav,
i have done what you have suggested:
In query designer > Properties for a Key Figure > Calculations > Calculate Result As > Nothing Defined,
I have set that, despite the rows are calculated as per formula defined in the key figure but the result field is not. The formula is only applied for the rows but not for the result. The result is olthough i have the setting you suggested a summation of that whole column and thats wrong.
Can you or anybody else help.
Thanks and regards,
Murat

  • Formula in Query does not display Results Rows

    All -
I know that people have posted this same thread before but I've been unable to find an answer or the questions have not been resolved.
I have created a simple query and the key figure columns are all formulae.  The calculations are all the same format:  KF1/KF2
    Where
KF1 is an Amount kf with Local Currency as the unit (the dataset only contains GBP)
    And
KF2 is a counter (the standard 1ROWCOUNT 'number of records' key figure).
The calculations work fine in the rows but I cannot get any results in any Results rows or Overall Result.  Something is populated when I do not define anything in "Calculate Results As..." for the formulae, but this is not a summation, and when I select Summation or Total, the Results rows are blank.
I have tried altering settings for the key figures in the admin workbench, I've tried recreating them as global Calculated Key Figures, and I've tried playing around with the settings on the Calculation tab, but nothing works.
Please does someone have an answer to this??
    Thanks
    Mischa

    Hi,
    As follows -
         Cost (£)     # Records     Formula
    Ref1     500     2     250
    Ref2     300     1     300
    Ref3     900     3     300
    RESULT     1700     6
I have the Cost (£) key figure and the # Records Key figure.  These are both hidden.
The formula behind the Formula is simply Cost(£)/#Records.
The characteristic used is not based on the most granular level hence the need for the calculation.
Although the formula is working correctly on a row by row basis, the results rows are blank.
As mentioned above, I have tried changing these to Calculated Key Figures, this has not worked.
    Thanks

  • Message in BEx Query Designer Formula

    Hi Experts,
I need to display message based on the value of the formula result. For Example:
    If K.F1 =<2.5 Then <Message: ODD>
    ElseIF K.F1 >2.5 Then <Message: Even>
    Else
    <Message: Determine the value>
    EndIF
Thease above messages would be build in the formula column of BEx query designer
Thanks and really appreciate your response.

    Hello,
I have done the same funtionality with the help of workbook.
May be experts can guide us how to display  messages in the formula column of BEx query designer.

  • Blank space in Query Designer formula

    Hello
I am using a formula in query designer to make some calculation but, once executed, this formula shows a blank space.
What does a blank space means?? The formula is not giving me an error.
    Thank you,
    Skull

    Hi,
I think the blank appears in the report because it is encountering a Divide by Zero error.
First check what calculations your doing in the formula. If your doing a division and if there are chances that the Denominator is 0 and numerator has some value, then based on the setting in the spro, you might get a blank.
Try and put the function in BEx that handles divide by zero errors. The function is NDIV0
If that is not the case then please paste the formula that you have written.

  • Query Designer Formula Logic

    Hi
I have the following data and the status of the formula should be 1 or 0.
    Cancel Date : 05/31/2011
Formula  : cancel date >=today's date
    Cancelled(Yes =1/No= 0) : 1
Cancel Date : # (no date assigned)
Formula  : cancel date >=today's date
    Cancelled(Yes =1/No= 0) : 0
    Cancel Date : 06/30/2011
Formula  : cancel date >=today's date
    Cancelled(Yes =1/No= 0) : 0
i tried the following formula in the query designer 7.0 but second condition gives 1 instead of 0.
DELTA ( COUNT (cancel date >= today's date)).
I am not able to find a better solution, please suggest.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Here todays date is 06/01/2011 right? Shouldnt then be 1, 0 other way round for 1 &3.
    Cancel Date : 05/31/2011
Formula : cancel date >=today's date
    Cancelled(Yes =1/No= 0) : 0
    Cancel Date : 06/30/2011
Formula : cancel date >=today's date
    Cancelled(Yes =1/No= 0) : 1
Anyways, Cancel Date is present as a Characteristic or KF? If Char, you can create the RKF, add above CKF in a RKF with Cancel Date NE #. This will give 'Blank' not zero when Cancel date = #.

  • Web report - apply specific formula on result rows

    dear all,
I would like to apply a specific formula for a result row in a web report.
    formula like this (a1b1 + a2b2 + ...)/(a1+a2)
With excel report I know that a vba excel can do this job.
I suppose that with web report a javascript should be helpful to solve this issue.
Is there anybody who could propose me a solution to solve this issue, or a source code example of javascript to do this ?!
    Thanks !

    Hi Guru Prasad,
One possibility is that you are doing some calculation with the user parameter that occurs in the before parameter form trigger.
When running in the normal client-server Reports runtime environment, the report triggers are executed in this order:
    1. before parameter form trigger executes
    2. parameter form is displayed)
    3. after parameter form trigger executes
    4. data model is validated and queries prepared)
    5. before report trigger executes
    6. report is formatted)
    7. after report trigger executes
When running on the web, the display of the parameter form and the execution of the report occur in two separate sessions as Reports is "stateless". So, it goes like this when you request the report via a URL:
    1. before parameter form trigger executes
    2. before parameter form is displayed)
At this point, the user enters in parameters into the web page, and submits the request. As far as Reports is concerned, this is a new report request with parameters fully specified and no parameter form. So, it now does this as a new report request:
    1. after parameter form trigger executes
    2. data model is validated and queries prepared)
    3. before report trigger executes
    4. report is formatted)
    5. after report trigger executes
So, if you have logic that sets up default values in the before parameter form trigger, it won't get executed on the web. If so, you should move this logic to the after parameter form trigger.

  • Query Designer/ Formula

    Hi,
my Query has the Characterisic Country as hierarchy in the Rows and revenue with its Percentage Share %A in the Columns.
I would like to use a Formula to show only countries with certain Percentage Share %A (for example More than 20%).
I know this could be done with Conditions, but for some reason I want to do it with Formula.
so I tried to create the Formula like this:
    (%Revenue > 20)* %Revenue ..........
in this Case the query show all %Revenue more than 20% but also the rest of the countries and  with value 0.
so my question is how should my Formula look like to just show what I want and eliminate the rest.
thanks in advance for any help

    Hi Martin
If the Percentage Share is the only column then you could try using zero suppresion, in the Query Properties on the Rows/Coumns tab, set the Zero suppression to Active, this should stop the zero postings from appearing.
    Cheers

  • Query designer formula editing very slow

    Hi Experts,
deleting formula in the designer is very slow.
    for example :
    formula :  noerr(a/b)
to add ndiv0 to this formula, i need to place the cursor at the right place and delete 1 character by 1 character. Each character takes about 1 second or more to get deleted and I have to wait for each character to be deleted before typing the 'delete' button again.
Is there a way to speed things up? Its very unproductive when editing formulas.
    regards
    Bass

unfortunately...this has always been slow on any system i've ever worked on. you can try to close all other applications (inclusing SAP) when using the designer...this might help ( a bit).

  • QUERY DESIGNER FORMULA  URGENT

    BI experts.
    1. The issue is that I have to identify from a key figure KF1 column the max value
2   I have to subtract from the max the value from each raw into a new column FKF.
Now in order to go from KF1 to (formula result ) FKF  I have created a column that shows me the maximum in each for the column KF1 using local calculations. but when I subtract well it seem actually to use the original value of the raw.
Therefore,  I would appreciate if you could help me to find out the maximum from a column and use it to find the difference on each raw between that found maximum and the original value on each raw.... eg  (could follow what i done so far or different method).
    peter   5
    alfy     6
    sam   7
    Ana   9
    result would be
    .........kF1 ....MAX....FKF
    peter.... 5 ......9 .... 4
    alfy.....6......9 ......3
    sam...... 7 ......9 ...... 2
    Ana ......9......9......0
    THANK YOU.

You need to create the Max value for the KF1 using MAX(KF1,0)
once you have done that, you can do a difference between the Max Value and the KF1 using Absolute value to avoid - minus.
    then you will be done.
    thanks.

  • Query Designer: Formula Variable

Would like to check how to use the formula variable for key figures?
I have created a formula variable and attached in the formula. How this variable be filled? I have given the properites as manual input but system gives exception error when query is executed.
    Error message..
Variable 46LD342EI7BQ4XB6P1GLYDAL9 (46LD342EI7BQ4XB6P1GLYDAL9) was found in the query but in the meantime it has been deleted, or it has been used incorrectly.
Formula variable- can be used in all cases. Note: Formula variables can have units or be without them. Incorrect use can also arise here since the system always calculates in accordance with the units. Formula variables can also be used to create the upper and lower limits in exceptions.

    Hi,
I think your definition of your formula veriable is wrong.
have you put the variable as input ready?

  • Annoying behavior in Query Designer (formulas and selections moving a lot)

    Hi guys,
I hope you can help me with this issue which is very annoying.
We are using SAP GUI 7.10 SP 5.
We have a lot of queries with 2 structures: one in the columns and another one in rows. In each structure we have a lot of Calculated and restricted key Figures in the specific order we need them, some of them nested to simulate navigation, some of them are hidden and some visible.  Very frequently when we do any change (add a new key figure, move one specific key figure,  copy and insert a key figure, etc.) Some key figures we are not touching change their position in the structure. This is happening to all my team mebers who work in 6 different computers, some in Spanish some in English with different versions of Windows .
At the beginning was not a problem but now that our queries are bigger, make a small change could spoiled sorting of an entire query
Has anyone experience this? I would really appreciate any advice on this issue.

Any ideas?  Has anyone faced this issue?
    Thanking you in advanced,

  • Report Designer Result Row question

    Hello Gurus
I read that in the report desinger you can grab the result row feilds from the inserted query and place it another report section but where do get that i don't see those cells showing up anywhere in the feild catalog.
basically i have two queries in the report designer and i want to use the result rows from both and divide them to get another result row
any ideas how can i do that
    thanks

Well i have two queries inserted and the first problem is for the first query there is no footer section and the result rows are displaying as part of detail. I can't figure that out . Although the chararchterstic that i have there is a heirarchy unless thats a problem.
and for the second query i do have result row show up on yellow when i run it and in report structure i do see the group0 , then group header group1, and then footer so where is the result row the footer row or in detail. And once i have it what do i jst drag the row into the row in added report section.
    please its urgent

  • Doubt on Rows and Coloums in BEx Query Designer.

    Hello, Experts.
I have a Doubt in BEx Query Designer.
In the Rows I have a Fiscal year Period,  if the user enters the Fiscal year period for e.g. : 001/2006  .
in the columns i have  forecast for the Fiscal year period which user entered ( 001/2006 ),   and we have another column pervious ( Prior )fiscal year period ( 001/2005 ).
My Questions is ,  as we are Restricting with 001/2006 will the query retrieve the values of 2005 or not?
    Thanks in Advance .
    Sharp

    yes i am  Doing Offest.
I moved this Fiscal year Period to Free char,   and i Restricted with Pervious Fical Year period and Fical year period .  it worked.  but
when i kept this in Rows and deleted Previous Fiscal Year period .  it is displaying blanks.   in prior years forecast.
is it because i am Ristricting it to only fical year period  which user entered
Colums-->  Forcast ( User Entered year )          Prior year
    Rows
    Fiscal year period
Fiscal year period( user enterd )

  • How to assign current date/time to a formula variable in Query Designer

How do I assign the current date to a formula variable in Query Designer? I need to use current data in a calculation and just need the date the report was run.
    Thanks

    Hi Philip,
There is an SAP formula variable to supply the current date in a formula. I think it is 0F_ADAY...install it from business content if you cannot see it in the query designer (formula box, under formula variables) and try using it.
    Hope this helps...

  • Report Builder 2.0 returning duplicate rows in query designer

    Hi,
I have a query running off a model, when I explore the data in the model and in a standard sql table it returns one row for each record, which include a unique id for each which is correct.
When I go into report builder query designer, it shows duplicate rows for each record. I have removed and added fields to try and pin point why and the only reason i can come up with is that it runs fine until I add in a field thats varchar(255) or
varchar(max). This is when it starts to duplicate the records.
Can anyone tell me why it does this or point me in the direction of how to stop this. I can't edit the query in text to add DISTINCT so thats not an option.
    Many thanks,
    JJSJ

OK - I have found a partial answer.   By Googling Report Builder and VARCHAR, I found another post which reported problems with the semantic query builder when the underlying table/view was returning columns of type VARCHAR(MAX).
On looking at the length setting for the data column in the DSV,  this reported a length of 2,147,483,647 for this field.   This is very odd because on querying the underlying table the largest length that I can find for this column is 191,086
(which is far larger than I would have expected - I am investigating this separately).
However, why should the Report Model think that this field contains such a large value?
Anyway,  the other post that I found reported that they had solved their problem by converting the field to a VARCHAR (255).    I tried this (by casting the column in my View to VARCHAR(255))  and this resolved the problem
    - no more duplicate rows when adding this field to the query!!!
I also tried CASTING to TEXT and to VARCHAR(8000).  The former did not resolve the problem; the latter did.
So I have a workaround but I don't understand why.
Can anybody explain why having a VARCHAR(max) column in my entity causes duplicate rows.
I suspect it is to do with the fact that for some reason the Report Model seems to think that there is an exceptionally long text string stored in this column in one of the rows but that again is a puzzle.
    Thanks
    Richard
