Query Dump for table space troubles
Hi all,
I have to solve a dump on a query executed within a large ammount of data.
Error Message: No storage space available for extending the internal tab.
A dump occurred during the execution of a query dealing with the lack of space in the internal tab.the profile parameters are correct and we also have unsuccessfully applied the Note 903258.
The termination occurred in the ABAP program "SAPLRSDRC" in "APPEND_DATA".
The main program was "SAPMSSY1 ".
does anyone know how can I procede?
many thanks
regards
Filippo Corvi
Hi Roberto
we are having memory dumps TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED for queries.
I checked in trx.ST22 and I forwarded those parameters to the Sys. administrator:
"[...]If the error persists, ask your system administrator to check the
following profile parameters:
o ztta/roll_area (1.000.000 - 15.000.000)
Classic roll area per user and internal mode
usual amount of roll area per user and internal mode
o ztta/roll_extension (10.000.000 - 500.000.000)
Amount of memory per user in extended memory (EM)
o abap/heap_area_total (100.000.000 - 1.500.000.000)
Amount of memory (malloc) for all users of an application
server. If several background processes are running on
one server, temporary bottlenecks may occur.
Of course, the amount of memory (in bytes) must also be
available on the machine (main memory or file system swap).
Caution:
The operating system must be set up so that there is also
enough memory for each process. Usually, the maximum address
space is too small.
Ask your hardware manufacturer or your competence center
about this.
In this case, consult your hardware vendor
abap/heap_area_dia: (10.000.000 - 1.000.000.000)
Restriction of memory allocated to the heap with malloc
for each dialog process.
Parameters for background processes:
abap/heap_area_nondia: (10.000.000 - 1.000.000.000)
Restriction of memory allocated to the heap with malloc
for each background process.
Other memory-relevant parameters are:
em/initial_size_MB: (35-1200)
Extended memory area from which all users of an
application server can satisfy their memory requirement.

HI,
We are executing the TCode : FV65 and getting the dump as follows.
=====
ShrtText
No storage space available for extending an internal table.
What happened?
You attempted to extend an internal table, but the required space was not available.
Error analysis
The internal table "IT_5402" could not be enlarged further. To allow error handling, the table had to be deleted before this log was created. So, if you branch to the ABAP debugger from the display of this log, the table will there be displayed with 0 rows.
Information on where terminated
The termination occurred in the ABAP program "SAPLSDH4" in "TO_SORT_TAB". The main program was "SAPMF05A ".
The termination occurred in line 746 of the source code of the (Include) program "LSDH4F09" of the source code of program "LSDH4F09" (when calling the editor 7460).
======
I beleive, its a standard program but I am not getting a clue how to get out of it.
Please advise.
regards,
sachinHi Sachin,
Then you should not face this issue. Just check with your basis if there is sufficient table space available on the server.
If now only you are facing this problem then there must be some issue with the table space available.

How to override security for table access when using SAP Query?
We have a number of infosets which use table join between PA0001 and CATSDB table. To execute a query based on such a query you would need access to table auth group PA through S_TABU_DIS. This was earlier not a problem as SAP query was earlier used by support staff and not end users. We do not want to give S_TABU_DIS with to end users as this amounts to givin them access to all PA tables.
The generated code for the query checks for the condition
"%rtmode-no_authchk = space"
before going for the authorization check.
Thus, ideally the authorization check for an InfoSet can be skipped if we can pass X for this variable from the InfoSet definition. Is there a way to do this?
Would appreciste any inputs to help suppress the authorization check at this point. Thanks.....>

unfortunately this does not work. SAP saw fit to 'hard-code' the implementation of the interface in RSAQEXCE:
(only parts of that abap displayed here).
170 data: iref type ref to if_query_tab_access_authority.
1107 * FORM AUTHORITY_BEGIN
1112 form authority_begin using p_auth_classname type AQS_CLSNA.
1119 perform authority_init using p_auth_classname.
1120 call method iref->access_authority_begin.
well for my part (searching a solution for a query on LTAK, wanting L_LGNUM as an object) i'm out of ideas. i shall have to modify SAP-standard and disable the class and do my own coding in the info-set. no other possibility - i cannot allow S_TABU_DIS for group LA and even if i did, what help would it be - i would have to allow that to all companies in that client having WM - and that would be literally all - i need LGNUM here! -
How to find the report for the SAP query (Query exists in table AQLQCAT)
Hello Experts,
I need to find the tables used in the SAP Query but i don't have access to transaction SQ01,SQ02 and SQ03 to check the same.
Therefore i checked table AQLQCAT and got the SAP Queries in the system. Then searched for the reports that would have been generated for the same passing AQusergroupquery name* in transaction SE38.
But unfortunately the program does not exists for the given paramenter.
Could you please let me know how to get the report name for the SAP Query.
Secondly please suggest any other way of checking the tables used in the SAP Query.
Also the table name from where i can download the SAP Queries.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Rahul SinhaI suggest you a simple method.
Execute the query. When the selection screen is showed, go to menu and click to SYSTEM->STATUS.
Check the program name and double click it to access the program code.
Search for tables or functions into the source code in order to understand where data are taken.
If you do not find anything , go to the program atttribute and check for logic database, sometimes they are used....
Best regards. -
Using large block sizes for index and table spaces
" You are not using large blocksizes for your index tablespaces. Oracle research proves that indexes will build flatter tree structures in larger blocksizes.
Is this a generic statement that I can use for all tables or indexes? I also have batch and online activity. My primary target is batch and it should not impact online. Not sure if both have common tables.
How to find the current block size used for tables and index? is there a v$parameter query?
What is an optimal block size value for batch?
How do I know when flatter tree str has been achieved using above changes? Is there a query to determine this?

Is this a generic statement that I can use for all tables or indexes? This is a generic statement used by some consultants. Unfortunately, it is riddled with exceptions and other considerations.
One consultant in particular seems to have anecdotal evidence that using different block sizes for index (big) and data (small) can yield almost miraculous improvements. However, that can not be backed up due to NDA. Many of the rest of us can not duplicate the improvements, and indeed some find situations where that results in a degradation (esp with high insert/update rates from separated transactions).
I also have batch and online activity. My primary target is batch and it should not impact online. Not sure if both have common tables.

1) stop using generic tools to analyze specific problems
2) define you problem in detail ()what are you really trying to accomplish - seems like performance tuning, but you never really state that)
3) define the OS and DB version - in detail. Give rev levels and patch levels.
If you are having a serious performance issue, I strongly recommend you look at some performance tuning specialists like "http://www.method-r.com/", "http://www.miracleas.dk/", "http://www.hotsos.com/", "http://www.pythian.com/", or even Oracle's Performance Tuning consultants. Definitely worth the price of admission. -
Space Allocated and Space used for Table.
Hi,
Is there any way, we can find Space Allocated and Space used for Table wise.
I know USER_TABLESPACES help use to find table space wise. But I would like to know, the space utilized by each table in the specific table space.Check this link from Tom Kyte about it.

EA3: Bug in dependencies query for table tab
SQL Developer 1.5EA3, JDK 1.6.0_04
I have just noticed a problem with the dependencies query on the table tab - it only shows dependencies where the referencing object is owned by the table owner and for any object with the same name as the table owner.
The query is:
sselect owner, name, type, referenced_owner, referenced_name, referenced_type ,owner sdev_link_owner, name sdev_link_name, type sdev_link_type from ALL_DEPENDENCIES where owner = :OBJECT_OWNER and referenced_name = :OBJECT_NAME
Instead of restricting owner to :OBJECT_OWNER, it should be restricting referenced_owner to :OBJECT_OWNER.
theFurryOneI think the arrow keys could be used for navigating the grid, and Alt-Down Arrow and Alt-Up Arrow could be used for viewing the drop-down list.
How about instead of allowing someone to type in the value, have them select from a list? The index columns can only be columns on the table, and if a column is already chosen for the index, remove it from the list.
I think the behavior of Microsoft's Table Designer is similiar.
What do you think? -

Learning how to look things up in the documentation is time well spent investing in your career. To that end, you should drop everything else you are doing and do the following:
Go to tahiti.oracle.com.
Drill down to your product and version.
<b><i><u>BOOKMARK THAT LOCATION</u></i></b>
Spend a few minutes just getting familiar with what is available here. Take special note of the "books" and "search" tabs. Under the "books" tab (for 10.x) or the "Master Book List" link (for 11.x) you will find the complete documentation library.
Spend a few minutes just getting familiar with what <b><i><u>kind</u></i></b> of documentation is available there by simply browsing the titles under the "Books" tab.
Open the Reference Manual and spend a few minutes looking through the table of contents to get familiar with what <b><i><u>kind</u></i></b> of information is available there.
Do the same with the SQL Reference Manual.
Do the same with the Utilities manual.
You don't have to read the above in depth. They are <b><i><u>reference</b></i></u> manuals. Just get familiar with <b><i><u>what</b></i></u> is there to <b><i><u>be</b></i></u> referenced. Ninety percent of the questions asked on this forum can be answered in less than 5 minutes by simply searching one of the above manuals.
Then set yourself a plan to dig deeper.
- Read a chapter a day from the Concepts Manual.
- Take a look in your alert log. One of the first things listed at startup is the initialization parms with non-default values. Read up on each one of them (listed in your alert log) in the Reference Manual.
- Take a look at your listener.ora, tnsnames.ora, and sqlnet.ora files. Go to the Network Administrators manual and read up on everything you see in those files.
- When you have finished reading the Concepts Manual, do it again.

Default table space for ODI repositories
We need to allocate table spaces for Master and Work repositories. Is there any recommanded size?
Hi,
Master Repository are really small, usualy I ask for 500MB and never saw get problems..
Work Repositories depends of your process quantity and frequency plus time to keep sessions without purge.
To a "big" environment to keep one year of session log, I recomend around 5 GB... (a generic number)
Make any sense?

Dropping Rollback table space in export dump and use the undo table space
Hi,
I want to upgrade my DB which is on 9.2.0.1.0 to 10.2.0.1.
I have done an export.
In order to import the DB I have created all the table spaces identical that of my export copy. While creating the Blank database I have already created Undo table space. In the exported DB I have a table space called rollback, how can I drop this table space and use undo table space. I believe this is the recommended table space that should be used in new releases
Thank youVery briefly, these are the steps you will need to perform:
1) Create an UNDO tablespace the same size as the Rollback tablespace, e.g.:
CREATE UNDO TABLESPACE undo
DATAFILE ‘/ora/$ORACLE_SID/001/oradata/$ORACLE_SID/undo_01.dbf’ size 1000M;
2) Add the initialisation parameters UNDO_MANAGEMENT=AUTO, UNDO_TABLESPACE=UNDO. Omit the UNDO_RETENTION parameter unless it is to be set to a value other then the default of 900 (seconds)
3) Remove the initialisation parameter ROLLBACK_SEGMENTS
4) Bounce the database to bring the new parameters into effect.
5) Drop the Rollback tablespace including contents and datafiles
Cheers,

Table space not getting cleaned after using free method (permanent delete)
Hi ,
We are using the free method of the LIB OBJ, to permanently delete the objects. As per documentation, the ContentGarbageCollectionAgent will be cleaning the database which runs in a scheduled mode. But the log of that ContentGargabageCollectionAsgent shows, all zero for objects without reference, objects cleared, etc. I.e the table space remains the same before and after deleteing all the contents in the cmsdk database. But the agent is running as per the schedule but just comes out doing nothing.
Can anbody put some light on this issue.
thanks
Raj.Hi Matt,
Thanks for replying. It's been a very long time waiting for you ;)
---"Are you running the 9.2.0.1, 9.2.0.2, or 9.2.0.3 version of the Database?"
we are using 9.2.0.1
---"If you installed the CM SDK schema in the "users" tablespace ......."
Yes we are using USERS tablespace for our Development.
I ran the query. The result is:
SYSTEM MANUAL NOT AFFECTED
USERS MANUAL NOT AFFECTED
CTXSYS_DATA MANUAL NOT AFFECTED
CMSDK1_DATA MANUAL NOT AFFECTED
(USERS belongs to develpoment cmsdk schema. And CMSDK1 for Prod CMSDK schema)
From the results I see only "Manual", but still I don't see the tablespace size being coming down. Both table space sizes (USER and CMSDK1) always grows higher and higher.
Also to let you know, We use ORACLE EM Console (Standalone) application to see the oracle databse information online. Will there be any thing to do with the tool we use to see the table space sizes. We make sure we always refresh it before making a note.
So is there anything else I can see. Once I saw the ContentGarbageCollection agent to free 1025 objects and deleted 0 objects. But I don't see any change in the table space size. I am little confused b/w freed and deleted.
thanks once again for your response Matt.

How to verify reused table space in oracle 10g ?
Hi..
From my system, i have seen that the table size keep increasing event the delete query is running. Due to that, I would to check either the oracle allowed to reuse the table space or not ? if not then how could i enable it ?
Please help me..
Thank you,
BaharinYou can use dbms_space.space_usage to check the for free space.
Space reuse will depend on whether you are using MSSM or ASSM, PCT_FREE, PCT_USED, and how new data is inserted ?
You can shrink or move the table and rebuild indexes to reclaim space.
