Query EUL tables: I need a list of Workbooks and thier BA Source Folder.

I'm working with Disco 4, but this should apply to all versions.
How do I link the EUL tables together in a query to get the workbook name and it's source folder in the Business Area?
Example: Table EUL4_Documents has all the Workbooks, and EUL4_OBJS has the Business Area folders. How do I Link these tables together?
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike
You cannot do this. The EUL4_Workbooks folder does indeed contain the workbooks but they are stored in a LONG RAW database column that cannot be accessed using standard SQL. So even if you can read he Business Area folders there is no way to link these back to a workbook I'm afraid.

  • Query to find the list of workbooks and worksheets assiciated to those book

    Hi Gurus,
Could you help me with the tables / Query to fetch the list of workbooks and associated worksheets names as welll.
    Thanks in advance!!
    Rgds,
    Santosh

    Hi Santosh
The whole point of the STATS table is to allow you to query performance, who did what and when. The database itself does not keep such statistics so if you disable Discoverer's method of capturing these you have no way of knowing who did what and when.
Without this it is impossible to say. I would strongly recommend you enable the capturing of statistics.
The reason you cannot directly query a WORKBOOK to determine what WORKSHEETS are associated with it is because that information is stored as binary information and not in SQL format.
Discoverer 10g has the capability of providing detailed information on the EUL. This feature is not offered "out of the box" but can be easily enabled.
The EUL Administrator can enable the feature by completing the following steps (see also MOS Note 556932.1):
    1. Log on to SQL*Plus as the Discoverer Administrator on the machine where Discoverer Administration Edition is installed.
    2. Execute the EUL5.SQL script found in the *$ORACLE_HOME\discoverer\util* directory. (This script will create the necessary database objects.)
NOTE: If you are using an Oracle Applications mode EUL, you must also run the eul5_apps.sql file in the $ORACLE_HOME\discoverer\util directory.   This script must be run as the EUL owner, and not the Oracle Applications SYSADMIN user.
    4. Exit SQL*Plus and log on to the Discoverer Administration Edition product (as the EUL Administrator).
    5. From the menu bar, select File | Import.
    6. Import the EUL5.EEX file from the ORACLE_HOME\discoverer directory. Once the EUL import is complete, a new business area will be created and visible called The Discoverer V5 EUL. This is the business area that provides the details on the EUL.
EUL Management Workbooks for Discoverer Administrators
The EUL5.EEX file also imports four pre-built Discoverer workbooks. These workbooks are automatically saved to the database during the EEX import and can be executed in Discoverer Plus, Viewer or Desktop:
EUL Workbook Management - shows which workbooks are shared with which users. Examine worksheets to find the folders, items, joins and conditions they depend upon.
EUL Access - This Workbook indicates if a current EUL exists in this users schema. It also displays the EUL's in other user schemas that this user can access.
EUL Query Statistics - Find out which workbooks and worksheets are being used by whom. Examine users ad-hoc queries.
Lineage - Hyper Drill from Discoverer to find a folder or Items Lineage in Oracle Warehouse Builder. To enable the Hyper drill, you will first need to run the Lineage.sql script.
The Discoverer Administrator can use the pre-built workbooks or build their own EUL management workbooks by using the Discoverer V5 EUL business area.

  • Getting a list of users and permission from a folder

I run this command to get a a list of users and permission from a folder
    $project_folder = "\\servername\foldername"
    get-acl $project_folder | %{ $_.Access  } | ft -property IdentityReference, AccessControlType, FileSystemRights > folder.csv.
This only lists information for 1 folder.
If i have multiple folders how should the code be modified?

this is the code i am looking for
     $project_folder
    = "\\servername\foldername\foldername1"
    get-acl $project_folder | %{ $_.Access  } | ft -property IdentityReference, AccessControlType,
    FileSystemRights > folder.csv.
I  run this code and this gives me the information for only the folder 'foldername1'.
Ex. i need a list of users who have permmission in \\servername\foldername\foldername2.
i run the code and it gives me the permissions and list of users in foldername2.
    This is the issue
IF there are multiple folders \\servername\foldername\foldername2, \\servername\foldername\foldername1,
i need to run the code each time for 1 folder.
is there a command where i can combine the path of these 2 or more folders and export
    it to csv
    Ex.  $project_folder
    = "\\servername\foldername\foldername1",
    "\\servername\foldername\foldername2"
    get-acl $project_folder | %{ $_.Access  } | ft -property IdentityReference, AccessControlType,
    FileSystemRights > folder.csv.
This will give me the list of users and the type of access they have in foldername1 and
    foldername2

  • How to include in table of contents the list of figures and list of tables?

How to include in table of content the "Table of contents", "List of figures" and "List of tables"? All are generated with function Table of contents, but they will not appear in generated table of contents even if they have proper style of headings - Heading 1, as other chapter.
I get this in generated Table of contentes of my dissertaion thesis:
    Table of contents
    Preface
    Table of contents <- missing
    List of tables <- missing
    List of figures <- missing
    Introduction
    Main
    Conclusion
Is it ok, that generated lists are not included in table of contents?

    You've just confused me.
My understanding of how this is set up is that either:
This is a book, and there is a master TOC that includes all book documents and a document-specific TOC in each component file, or
This is a single file and there is one master TOC that includes all sections and a section-specific TOC that includes only the individual section.
In the first case, I think you would want two TOC styles set up, one that includes the chapter heads (if I understood how you said this worked) for the for the master, and you would include all docs in the book when you generate it, and a second style for the individual chapters, with the subheadings you want to include.
In the second case, it would be similar, but instead of only one style to cover the section TOCS, I think you would need to create a unique set of pargraph styles for the headings in each section (they can all be the same format, based one section, just with unique names), and then make a TOC style for each section that includes only the styles from that section.
OK,  wait a sec. I just reread what you said: "Another thing: when the numbers are "linked" and updating well, they  display indide a little box. Not a text box, but a kind of little frame  around the numbers. That frame makes it imposible to delete just one  number: when the TOC says that Section 6.1 is in page 135, for example,  you cannot delete just the 5, it deletes, not just the 3 numbers, but  also the doted tab."
I think these are NOT normal TOCs created by using Layout > TOC (but you could replace them with ones that are, if you set up your styles properly and the text you want to include is appearing on the pages). Those little boxes you mention sound like cross-references, which should update automatically without any intervention at all. Unfortunately, cross-refs can be flakey, especially if they point to another document. I'd open the cross-refs panel and see if you need to recreate a bunch of links.

  • Getting a list of users and permission from a folder including nested groups

    $project_folder = "\\servername\foldername\foldername1"
    Get-Acl $project_folder |
        ForEach-Object {
$_.Access | Add-Member -MemberType NoteProperty -Name Path -Value $_.Path -PassThru
        } |
ft -GroupBy Path -Property IdentityReference, AccessControlType, FileSystemRights > foldertst.csv
The above command gives me a list of all the users who have access to foldername1. (including users and groups).
How do i modify this code to get the information of the nested groups for this folder

Sorry, I won't be providing a complete solution, just a few suggestions and comments.
first thing will be to determine for each ACE (access control entry) whether the IdentityReference refers to a user account or a group. If a group, you will then need to process each of its members, each of which will share the FileSystemRights of the current
    ACE.
But... if any of the members are other groups, you will need to process them recursively as well. Recursively.
There are a few gotcha's, though:
you need to recognize and avoid infinite recursion when, for example, group A is a member of group B which is a member of group A. One way to do this is to keep a list of all groups encountered, processing each only once.
if one ACE belongs to group C, another belongs to group D, group A is a member of C, and group B is a member of D, you must ensure that all members of A and B are listed with ACE C and ACE D.
Once you have identified all user accounts you might find that some have multiple records. For example, user AA might belong to group A, and get unlimited access through the ACE owned by group C, but deny read access through the ACE owned by group D. If
the first mention of this user in your output shows he has unlimited access, that will, of course be incorrect. at the very least the output should be sorted by username. You could attempt to amalgamate all of his various accesses (like the effective permissions
tab) into a single one. But it would be difficult to show which group memberships contributed which aspects of his access permissions in any kind of simple or intuitive way.
security configurations can easily become overly complex. The best solution is to simplify and standardize how permissions are applied and how groups are nested. I have had to do this on occasion, and the problem of determining how things should be permitted
from how they actually are is probably the most complicated part of the job.
    good luck.

  • Query to table in Database Link returns value from local table

    Hi
I made a databaselink (Create database link db_a.world connect to db_a identified by <user> using 'db_a.world')
Then I query a table, connected as a user in db_b.world (this is our developer database - identical to db_a): Select count(*) from table@db_a.world.
When I get the result - it comes from the database I am logged in to (db_b)! - This is easy to check, because when I run select count(*) from table - it shows the same number. When I connect to the remote database, the same query shows another (correct) number.
When I created the database link, Oracle demanded a loopback clause. Why is that, and can this be the reason for the strange behaviour?
    Thanx
    Anders
    Narvik, Norway

    Hi Anders,
A loopback database link is when you want to test connecting to the same database as say a different user. It can be used for testing purposes. Creating a database link doesn't require a loopback clause. The reason why you are getting the same row count as db_b.world because db_a.world has been created as a loopback link.
In the example you have Create database link db_a.world connect to db_a identified by <user> using 'db_a.world' , the clause after 'connect to' is meant to be the username and the clause after 'identified by' is meant to be the password.
So, create a regular database link like this:
create database link db_a_link connect to <user> identified by <passwd> using <service name>
You shouldn't get an error message that the loopback clause has to be specified. Then try querying and hopefully it will work.

  • SQL query or view used internally by Discoverer Open Workbook from Database

    Hi Experts,
I am involved in developing a web application wherein I have to display the 'All Workbooks' similiar functionality in the 'Open Workbook from Database' dialog box of Discoverer. Can anybody provide me with the background query or view that Discoverer uses to retrieve this data for workbook listing? Please let me know if my question is confusing and requires more details.
    Thanks
    Thomas

    Hi,
If you just need the list of workbooks then you need to use the EUL_DOCUMENT table:
    SELECT u.User_Name          Owner_Name
    *,Doc.Doc_Name Workbook_Name*
    *,Doc.Doc_Updated_Date Last_Update_Date*
    FROM   Eul_Us.Eul5_Documents Doc
    *,Eul_Us.Eul5_Eul_Users Own_Usr*
    *,Fnd_User u*
    WHERE  Own_Usr.Eu_Id = Doc.Doc_Eu_Id AND
    To_Char(u.User_Id(+)) = Substr(Own_Usr.Eu_Username
    *,2*
    *,10);*
If you want the exact same list then you need to do the above along with the sharing :
    SELECT DISTINCT
    case when instr(disco_docs.doc_created_by,'#')=0 then disco_docs.doc_created_by
    when instr(disco_docs.doc_created_by,'#')>0 and instr(disco_docs.doc_created_by,'#',2)=0 then (select fu.user_name from fnd_user fu where fu.user_id=substr(disco_docs.doc_created_by,2,5))
    else NULL
    end "Workbook Owner/Creator",
    disco_docs.doc_name "Workbook Name",
    disco_docs.Doc_Updated_Date  "Last Update Date",
    case when instr(disco_users.eu_username,'#')=0 then disco_users.eu_username
    when instr(disco_users.eu_username,'#')>0 and instr(disco_users.eu_username,'#',2)=0 then (select fu.user_name from fnd_user fu where fu.user_id=substr(disco_users.eu_username,2,5))
else (select resp.responsibility_name from fnd_responsibility_tl resp where resp.responsibility_id=substr(disco_users.eu_username,2,5))
end as "Shared Name / Responsibility"
    FROM
    eul_us.eul5_documents disco_docs,
    eul_us.eul5_access_privs disco_shares,
    eul_us.eul5_eul_users disco_users
    WHERE
    disco_docs.doc_id = disco_shares.gd_doc_id (+)
and disco_users.eu_username(+) NOT IN ('EUL5', 'PUBLIC')
    AND disco_users.eu_id(+) = disco_shares.ap_eu_id;
    * Change the EUL_US to your discoverer schema...
Then you will need to compare the current user with the sharing list or creator
    Good luck
