Query on Date in DEFAULT_WHERE clause

I have a search forms in which I can enter text or dates.
For the dates, I also have a List that allow me to specify if the search must be =, < or > than the entered date.
But I don't kon how to perform the query.
In fact I use the DEFAULT_WHERE clause of the tabular form. It works with the text but not with the date.
I have the following code :
where_st := 'dossier.ouverture ' | | :dossier1.list_ouv | | ' :dossier1.ouverture_ind';
Where dossier.ouverture is the field of my table, :dossier1.list_ouv is the list where I select the operator, and :dossier1.ouverture_ind is a non DB field in which I enter my date to query...
Tx in advance for your help^,
Xav.

Tx
But finally, it works like that :
where_st := 'dossier.ouverture ' | | :dossier1.list_ouv | | '''' | | :dossier1.ouverture_ind | | '''';

• Using Date in where clause

Hello all,
I am new to Oracle, currently using 10G + aspvbscript.
I've been trying to query data using date in where clause but nothing seems to work.
The column is in date format.
It gets printed out like this: 5/1/2010 11:21:19 AM
I tried using this query:
SELECT * from table where TRUNC(user_date) > to_date('FEB-01-2010:00:00:00','mm-dd-yyyy:HH24:MI:SS') order by user_date asc.
It does return an output but it returns everything in table and does not take WHERE clause into consideration however, it does sort the date in ascending order.
I've tried getting rid of TRUNC tried to format date in a different way but no such luck.
Please point me to the right direction.
Thanks.

Welcome to the forums!
In cases like this it is helpful if you can provide the following information:
1. Oracle version (SELECT * FROM V$VERSION)
2. Sample data in the form of CREATE / INSERT statements.
3. Expected output
4. Explanation of expected output (A.K.A. "business logic")
5. Use \ tags for #2 and #3. See FAQ (Link on top right side) for details.
I'll try and take a stab at your request based on the data given. What your query says is that it will return all rows that have a date greater then 2/1/2010 (MM/DD/YYYY). If your query is returning all rows then maybe the possibility exists that all the dates in the table are greater then 2/1/2010. Have you checked all dates to see if this is the case?
Also, one note about your TO_DATE() function.to_date('FEB-01-2010:00:00:00','mm-dd-yyyy:HH24:MI:SS')The date format does not match the string you are using with respect to month. Your string has 'FEB' but the format is 'MM' which is the numeric representation of the month. Although Oracle was able to convert it to the proper date on my system you should try and maintain consistency between the string and the date format used.

• Oracle 10g Query on Date Column

Hello -
What is the most efficient way to query on a date column to get all dates within the last 2 months? I use something like the following in the WHERE clause:
billing_date >= to_date(add_months(sysdate, -2))
However, I can't ever get the index on billing_date to be used.
Any help is greatly appreciated...
Thanks!!

This is a perfectly valid way to query the data. Here's an example on my own production tables. This one has about 300 million rows:
select *
from   prod.tran_history
where  tran_date >= to_date(add_months(sysdate, -2))
| Id  | Operation                   |  Name                        | Rows  | Bytes | Cost  |
|   0 | SELECT STATEMENT            |                              |    11M|   863M|   146K|
|   1 |  TABLE ACCESS BY INDEX ROWID| TRAN_HISTORY                 |    11M|   863M|   146K|
|*  2 |   INDEX RANGE SCAN          | TRAN_HIST_DATE_IDX           |  2144K|       |  2098 |

• Compare Date in where clause

Hi,
I have query which i used to display the new status that happend. Here in the where clause i am checking the dates for comparisiion but the query say no data found
But data found in the table Please suggest how to put a join condition on dates. or is there any other way to write this query
select distinct SDM from PROJECT_START_UP
where project_name = :p1_projects and
check_id = 44 and
CREATION_DATE like (select max(CREATION_DATE) from project_start_up where check_id = 44)
Thanks
Sudhir

Why you're using LIKE operator instead of '='??
Please try whether you have data
select distinct SDM from PROJECT_START_UP
where project_name = :p1_projects and
check_id = 44 If above query returned data, then run
select distinct SDM from PROJECT_START_UP
where project_name = :p1_projects and
check_id = 44 and CREATION_DATE = (select max(CREATION_DATE) from project_start_up where check_id = 44)- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

• Querying a date field with different masks in form and database

Dear friends,
I have a field with date format mask dd/mm/yyyy hh24:mi:ss, but the same field has date format dd/mm/yyyy inside the form which queries it.
If I run this form, obviously I will query this date in dd/mm/yyyy format mask, but this date is not being found because it doesn't include hh24:mi:ss (hour) from the database field.
How can I solve this problem? I tried to change my form, putting a format mask with hours, but it requires me to query this date with time, and obviously no one needs to know the exact moment (with seconds!) when the date was recorded in the database.
Thanks, and best regards,
Franklin

Franklin,
You could instruct your users to use the '%' when they enter a date search criteria. Another alternative would be to programatically add the '%' to the date. Also, if your Block based on a view you could alter the vuew to use TRUNC() on the date field to drop the time.
Another option would be to use the Pre-Query trigger to modify the Block WHERE clause to: TRUNC(date_field) = :block.date_field.
Hope this helps.

• How to query XML data stored in a CLOB column

I don't know XMLDB, so I have a dumb question about querying XML data which is saved as CLOB in a table.
I have a table (OLAP_AW_PRC), with a CLOB column - AW_XML_TMPL_VAL
This column contains this xml data - [click here|http://www.nasar.net/aw.xml]
Now I want to query the data using the xml tags - like returning the name of AW. This is where I am having trouble, how to query the data from AW_XML_TMPL_VAL clob column.
The following query generates error:
ORA-31011: XML parsing failed.
ORA-19202: Error occurred in XML processing
LPX-00229: input source is empty
SELECT
extractValue(value(x), '/AW/LongName') as "AWNAME"
from
OLAP_AW_PRC,
table(xmlsequence(extract (xmltype(AW_XML_TMPL_VAL), '/AWXML/AWXML.content/Create/ActiveObject/AW'))) x
where
extractValue(value(x) , '/AW/Name') = 'OMCR4'
- Nasar

Mark,
Thanks. This is exactly what I was looking for.
After doing @Name in both places (SELECT and WHERE clause) it worked.
Now I have one more question.
There are multiple DIMENSION tags in my xml, and I want to see the NAME attribute values for all of those DIMENSIONs. The following query returns
ORA-19025: EXTRACTVALUE returns value of only one node.
Cause: Given XPath points to more than one node.
Action: Rewrite the query so that exactly one node is returned.
SELECT
extractValue(value(x), '/AW/@Name') as "AW",
extractValue(value(x), '/AW/Dimension/@Name') as "DIMENSIONS"
from
OLAP_AW_PRC,
table(xmlsequence(extract (xmltype(AW_XML_TMPL_VAL), '/AWXML/AWXML.content/Create/ActiveObject/AW'))) x
where
extractValue(value(x) , '/AW/@Name') = 'OMCR4'

• Querying a data block

HI,
Can someone tell me how do I make non database fields on a form queryable?
I have for example Country Name displayed on a form, but that is a non database item, the real database item is the country code. So when the user tries to query in this field, it doesnt return the correct results.
Please assist
Thanks
s

To query a block using a non-base table item, you have to modify the DEFAULT_WHERE clause of the block using the Pre-Query trigger of the block. In your situation, where you want to query records where the country code is equal to the country name selected, in your Pre-Query trigger your code would look something like this:
/* Sample Pre-Query trigger - code is untested */
DECLARE
v_temp_where   VARCHAR2(500);
BEGIN
v_temp_where := 'COUNTRY_CD = (select country_cd from country where country_name = '||:YOUR_BLOCK.COUNTRY_NAME||')';
/* Forms 6i */
Set_Block_Property('YOUR_BLOCK', DEFAULT_WHERE, v_temp_where);
/* Forms 9i or higher */
Set_Block_Property('YOUR_BLOCK', ONETIME_WHERE, v_temp_where);
END;Since you didn't specify your Forms version, I've given two options for setting the WHERE clause of your block.
Hope this helps,
Craig B-)

• Problem with SQL query region source containing OLAP clauses

Hi team,
I believe I found a bug when HTMLDB validates the SQL Query in a report region.
My query includes an ORDER BY clause within a windowing function and HTMLDB refuses to accept the source owing to the presence of the ORDER BY and the column heading sort preference.
Clearly the order-by in a window function has little to do with the column heading sort, but this error prevents me from updating the conditional display item in the page definition.
Note also that the page was imported smoothly from the 1.5 version, so probably the region source is not checked at that time, but only when you update it "manually".
So, in the end, if I don't change anything the page works because the sql query is assumed to be correct but unfortunately I need to change the condition and I cannot.
The problem shows up in page 126 of app 21670, SQL query region.
Bye,
Flavio
PS: may be I can work around this by using the pl/sql function returning the sql query.

Flavio,
We're aware of this problem. For now, your workaround is described in this thread:
HTMLDB 1.6 and "order by" in analytic functions

• How can I do for a row of a query be data provider for a variable?

Hi friends, I have a problem !
How can I do for a row of a query be data provider for a variable?
I need that a value of variable be stored when the user select a row in a query. At the BPS we can do this configuring the variable selector in WIB, and in a WAB how I can do this ?
Best regards,

In this case when I press the key to call other forms I need to wait for the response in the secondary form and then process the result.That is exactly what a "modal JDialog" (or JOptionPane) are used for.
Try it. Create a short demo program. All you need is a JFrame with a single button to show the modal dialog. All you modal dialog needs is a single button to close the dialog. After you show the modal dialog add a System.out.println(...) statement in your code and you will see that it is not executed until the dialog is closed.
Then once you understand the basics you add the code to your real program.
If you need further help then you need to create a [Short, Self Contained, Compilable and Executable, Example Program (SSCCE)|http://homepage1.nifty.com/algafield/sscce.html], that demonstrates the incorrect behaviour.
Don't forget to use the Code Formatting Tags so the posted code retains its original formatting. That is done by selecting the code and then clicking on the "Code" button above the question input area.

• An error occurred querying a data source - with REST services

Hi,
I have a SharePoint 2013 form library library with an info-path form. I need to get the logged in user's 'Display Name' on my form load automatically.
I used REST service to fetch the current user details. In the preview mode of the form, its showing the right name. But when I publish this form to library I am getting the following error.
REST Service --> http://site url/_api/SP.UserProfiles.PeopleManager/GetMyProperties
Please help me to resolve this issue.
Thanks in advance for your time and reply :)

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that an error occurred querying a data source with REST services.
It is defiantly permission issue with GetUserProfileByName service
and could be many reasons of this problem. You first try with UDCX file and make sure that UPS is running.

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you got error when querying a data source in office 365.
Per my knowleadge, we cannot connect to SharePoint Web Services from InfoPath Forms within SharePoint Online.
Loopback protection is enabled on the SharePoint Online environment and will block calls to SOAP and REST from InfoPath Form Services.
For more information, you can refer to:
Error message when you connect an InfoPath form to a SharePoint Online web service: "An error occurred while connecting to a Web Service"
As a workaround, to look up data for some dropdowns from several external REST Web Services, we need to have a Data Connection library in your Site Collection in which to store the UDCX files.
The steps seem to be:
Create a Data Connection Library in your Site Collection
In the InfoPath ribbon, go to Data, then Data Connections. Your existing data connections should be listed.
Choose the data connection which is hosted on a different domain.
Clink the
Convert to  Connection File… button
In the location selector, specify the path to the Data Connection Library you created above.
Leave the
Relative to site collection (recommended) radio button selected.
Click OK
