Query on Import profile in EPMA

Hi Team,
I am using an import profile to load metadata into EPMA HFM application from a flat file(.ads file).I am unable to map the below mentioned HFM properties in the Import profile.These properties are not appearing in the Property selector.Version used is Hyperion 11.1.2.2.

Do you have a Dimension Association section in the ads file? Something similar to below:

       I am trying to create an import profile in EPMA for DRM, but I'm getting the error below :

Well, after review the DRM documentation I've found that some settings must be done before, like as :
* Installing Metadata Services Schema for Oracle Web Services Manager
* Configuring Oracle Web Services Manager
* Configuring WebLogic with an External Provider
* Configuring the API Adapter
I've done all settings above and got to test the webservice, but when I've got to create the profile the error is about :

Import profiles issue in EPMA Planning

Hello All,
We are working on Hyperion 11.1.2.1. We are using EPMA planning application. We have SQL server as our staging Area. We are having issues with our new Profiles and also with the old profiles. We have an Account dimension member 'xxxx' having TB as Flow, Exchange Rate Type as "Average" in the staging library and also in the EPMA shared library.
When we import the profile we are getting error message saying "All 'Hierarchy' property updates for member 'xxxx' were rolled back due to a validation error; please correct the properties in error indicated in the validation message and re-import the 'Hierarchy' section for this member to apply all member property updates. ValidationMessage: 'Property value 'Average' is invalid for the 'ExchangeRateType' property."
When try to import the new profile we are getting more no of errors than the old proflie.
Can anyone suggest what might be the issue.

Its for 11.1.1.3 but sound like you are running into a similar kind of issue.

EPMA Import profile options V11.1.2

Hi Al,
Iam working on EPMA import profiles. For a dimension in shared library we want it to cleared before loading the hierarchy from Interface tables.
In 11.1.2.1 there is a option "Clear Before Importing" in import profiles. But i can t find it in V11.1.2.0 ..
How can we achieve it?

I thought "Clear before importing" only clear properties for members, is sounds like you are want to delete the members to match the source which you would use the "Replace" option in dimension mapping section of the import profile.

Create EPMA dimension import profile fails

Hi,
I have registered my source and target system. I have defined my metadata details and try to execute it. Importing and transforming the tree from the source system is successful. However the step "Create EPMA dimension import profile ERPI system profile 21 (Shared) fails.
My source system is PS finance and my target app is EPMA planning application. I have defined the interface schema details in system settings. Not sure what I am missing.

I have resolved it. I was referencing the EPMA interface data source that I created for ERPI. Instead i changed the EPMA data source name in ERPI to the ERPI schema itself.

Metadata import error during creation of import profile

Hi guys,
I am trying to create a (out-of-the-box) metadata interface from Fusion (source) to a HFM application. I've successfully completed the following activities:
- Register source system
- Setup source accounting entities
- Initialize source system
- Register target system
- Create import format (Fusion to HTP application) which maps the Account COA segment from the source system to the Account dimension in the target application.
- Create location, connected to upper import format
- Create metadata rule
When I try to execute the metadata rule it raises the following error during the step "Creating EPMA import profile for dimension ERPI System Profile 5" :

I am kind of new to debugging with FDMEE, but am I correct that it finds a string where I should not be finding a string somewhere in the metadata? I looked into the source system metadata but I don't see any "string" metadata. Could anyone perhaps advise and point me in the right direction on how to deal with this error (what is causing the error, where to look, etc). Any help would be kindly appreciated!

I noticed the line: "at com.hyperion.awb.webservice.imports.runtime.ImportsSoap_Stub.createImportProfileForApplication(Unknown Source)" from this last log. Does this have any to do with the interface data source being unknown? or is it referring to something else as being source?

Using Power Query to import image files for Power View

I am trying to use Power Query to import image data from a SQL Azure database for use in Power View. I've selected both the source image table and the ?images table in the workbook query. The files seem to load as binary data in the Power
Query editor but when loaded to the data model with Power Pivot, the field becomes "text" type rather than binary. Does anyone know the procedure to use PowerQuery to load image files into PowerPivot?

We currently do not support loading binary data from Power Query into the Power Pivot data model. This is something we'd like to address soon. For now, you will need to use the Power Pivot import capabilities if you want to achieve this.

Need sql query to import from excel sheet

Hey , i need sql query to import from excel sheet.
i work in a company where i need to daily update the data from excel sheet.
if i get a shortcut method i ill be very thank full to you guys to reduce my work upto 10 %.

any query which can inert from excel file?

Error--Could not import profiles

I have installed a distributed instance installation.
While i was installing the Central instance i gave the profile path as
\<server_name>\sapmnt\<SID>\SYS\profile
Now after installation when i go to Rz10 and import profiles , i could not import the instance profiles
It is giving a message that "Cound not be read"
Please let me how of how to import that profile or how to change the path to local system

Hi Balaji,
Check if there are some old profiles in you directory. Try to move them into some other folder and then with the clean directory only with the relevant profiles try to import it.
Secondly you check that if there is any junk character in the profile?

How to import metadata into EPMA application by using ODI

Hi All,
1.Can you tell anyone, how to import metadata into EPMA application by using ODI. Detailed steps with screen shots will be appreciated.
2. What was the interface tables. How the interface tables will be useful while importing metadata into EPMA application (Detailed steps with screen shots will be appreciated.). And tell me the interface tables structure and work process. give me the clear idea bout interface tables. I don't know anything about interface tables.
3.Which method(either using ODI or Interface tables) is optimized/bestcase for importing metadata into EPMA application.
My database is Oracle 10g and I am using Planning 9.3.1.

Answer to your questions
1. You can't import metadata directly into EPMA using ODI, the only option is use the EPMA interface tables which is your question 2.
2. Interface tables are just a structure of database tables which you populate with metadata and then this is pushed into EPMA, the structure of the tables takes a while to get an understanding of. 3. As explained in question 1 you can't use ODI directly to import metadata into EPMA but with a lot of hard work and effort you could probably populate interface tables from EPMA, though I must admit I am not a fan of the interface tables because I don't think they were designed with simplicity and ease of use in mind.

Query regarding Import Dimensions using Flat File in EPMA

Hi All,
I am trying to import dimensions and Dimension properties using a flat text file to the master dimension library. If I try to include any properties (HFM) in the !Members Section, I am getting an error "Input Line ... does not have the expected format of 1 columns". But if I remove the properties and just build the members and hierarchies without any properties definition, I am able to succeed. Can someone guide me on what I might be missing with regards to member properties? Below is the format of the input text file.

'Name,DimensionClass,DimensionAlias,CustomDimensionID
HFM_Entity,Entity,HFM_Entity,

Import Profile Rules of 7.5.1 to 10g 10.1.3.5 not working (10.1.3.3 works)

Hi,
I am facing a weired issue and have no clue whats going on really need some help.
I have 2 10gR3 servers installed I am trying to migrate the Configuration
Migration data from Stellent 7.5.1 on both. There is a configuration data for
Content Profile Rules when I migrate on one of the 10gR3 it shows me there are
41 items and it imports them fine. When I do the same thing on the other server
it shows me zero items. I am using the same bundle on both but one server
picks-up the content profiles and he other does not so I basically went ahead
and created the rules manually. But now I am not sure when I migrate the folders
and content will it cause any issues.
The only difference in 2 servers is one is 10.1.3.3 and all works fine on this
and the other is 10.1.3.5 and thats where I have issues. I did look a the logs
but didnot find anything.
Also when I try to import the any other bundle again and select force ovewrite
all works fine on 10.1.3.3 but on 10.1.3.5 it works only first time and anytime
after if I try to import and select overwrite it just keeps complaining about
fhda files not found etc.
Then I thought I may have messedup somewhere so for testing purpose I installed
10gR3 on my laptop and upgraded to 10.1.3.5 and the same behavior as longas it
is 10.1.3.3 itworks but not on 10.1.3.5.
Anyone else noticed this behavior will appreciate for any help.

There is no 10.2.5.0 version - I assume you mean 10.2.0.5.

Can I use Power Query to Import a table from Excel sheet range which starts not from the top row?

Hi,
Being an experienced Excel user before Power BI, I am just starting to explore the M and Power Query capabilities, and need help already (ain't easy to google this use case somehow):
I need to import the table which sits in the Excel file with header row in the row 17 of Excel sheet, with some metadata header in the preceding rows of the columns A and B.
01: Report name, Quick Report
02: Report Date, 1/1/2014
17: Employee Name, Manager, etc...
18: John Doe, Matt Beaver, etc.
Both (a) direct attempt to load as Excel file and (b) the indirect way through [From Folder] and formula in custom column -- both lead to the same error: "[DataFormat.Error] External table is not in the expected format."
Specifically, I tried to use the [Power Query -> From File -> From Folder] functionality, select an Excel file and add a custom column to access the binary content: [Add Custom Column] with formula "=Excel.Workbook([Content])".
It looks like Power Query expects a rectangular range with headers full-width followed by a contiguous table range to import anything, and refuses to load if that is not the case...
QUESTION: Is there any way to load whatever-formatted data from Excel first, and then manipulate the overall imported range (like referring to rows starting from 17th using "Table.SelectRows" etc.) to read the actual data? Reading and using
the metadata from header would be a bonus, but that comes second... The main issue is to get something from a non-regular Excel file to later work with using M formulae ...

Finally found the answer to this one in ():
You Cannot Open a Password-Protected Workbook
If the Excel workbook is protected by a password, you
cannot open it for data access, even by supplying the correct password with
your connection settings, unless the workbook file is already open in the
Microsoft Excel application. If you try, you receive the following error
message:
Could not decrypt file.
ANSWER: So, will have either weave in the work with temporary unprotected files or requires opening them before updating the data source (although this almost defeats the purpose of automation...)
ANSWER to ORIGINAL QUESTION: password was preventing Power Query from reading the Excel file. For solution see above.

Oracle 11g- Straing behaviour of query after importing from Oracle 10g

Hi,
I have a table in Oracle 10g as follows:
Create Table xyz (col1 varchar2(50), col2 varchar2(50));
With following Data
Col1     Col2
A     320
A     110
A     290
A     380
B     ABC
B     256
B     LMN
I am running following Query
select * from xyz
Where Col1='A' and Col2=110
It works fine. But when I export this table and import it in Oracle 11g. It says invlid identifier.
But if I enclose 110 in single quotes. It works fine.
Also If I recreate this table in Oracle 11g like
Create table xyz1
as select * from xyz;
Now alos I am able to run this query smoothly.
select * from xyz1
Where Col1='A' and Col2=110
What is wrong exporting this table from 10g to 11g.
Any comments/suggestion??

The check in your where clause
Col2=110Is comparing a string (Col2 is defined as a VARCHAR) with a numeric literal, so there will be an implicit conversion taking place from character to number. The query then fails due to the B LMN row when 'LMN' fails number conversion.
I'm guessing there was there an index on the table in your 10g installation which would allow the query to be satisfied without checking the B ABC or B LMN rows but is not present or not used in the 11g installation so a full table scan results in an attempt to convert 'ABC' and 'LMN' to a number. Check the explain plans.
Or it could even just be a difference in the order in which the two conditions in the where clause are evaulated between the two versions.
The solution, as you have already found is to do a string comparision
