  • Database Toolkit Sub query Syntax and file path expectation question.

    I need some assistance from those of you smarter than I.
    I have two database files (not two tables in the same database file) one represents information delivered from an external interface, and the other is used by the internal interface associated with the processing half of my application.  Data is received (i.e. fields are populated)  from the external interface to one database file and that data is then copied to another database file where the information will be processed by the internal interface. This is being done because I am worried about  file access issues that might occur if two different interfaces (external & internal) try to access the same file at the same time (without dealing with semaphores). I am not too worried about the sanctity of the data since each record supplied from the external interface should not effect any of the data being used by the internal interface.  So the first question is , am I being to primitive in my thinking assuming that I would run into file access issues if I were to just use two tables in the same database file for the same purpose ?
    My second question is related to my current implementation where I have two separate database files representing the external and internal interface data. Currently when a new set of data is entered into the External Interface Database file, an alert is issued, and another task copies the data from that file into Internal Interface Database, then the data is deleted from the External Interface Database file. My question is related to the syntax that I am using to provide the described functionality. I am currently using a INSERT with a subquery to the External Interface Database file i.e. INSERT INTO InternalDB FROM  ExternalDB.ExternalTable WHERE Order =  '06306049'; .
    My question is when I run this query with both database files in same directory I get an error stating that the ODBC driver can not find the ExternalDB.ExternalTable in the Parent Directory of the subdirectory where the files are actually located. The system DSN is set up correctly for the ExternalDB, and if I move it to the parent directory the query works correctly, my question is why would I have to put the two database files in seperate directories for this to work and is there a way to avoid this ?
    Thanks..

  • Query: Setting ACL for Roles and Programmatic Approach

    Hi All
    I'm trying to setup ACL for Roles on WCC(11.1.1.8) server by following the blog https://blogs.oracle.com/kyle/entry/access_control_lists_for_roles using Framework folder and have few queries
    Query 1:
    Created new folder and associate enterprise roles under Role access list
    1. Created a new folder 'MyFolder' with Security group 'Secure', owner 'weblogic'.
    2. Assigned Role 'Deployers' under Role Access List with RW permissions.
    3. In Admin console, associated user 'jcooper' with 'Deployers' group and 'jausten' with no group.
    4. Logged in using 'jcooper' and able to assess 'Myfolder'.
    5. Logged in using 'jausten' and also able to assess 'MyFolder'
    Observation
    Since user 'jausten' is not associated with 'Deployers' group, how can 'jausten' assess the folder? Am I missing some configurations here. Please let me know setup steps to achieve this functionality in desired manner.
    Query 2:
    Created a prototype using RIDC to create a folder programmatically and assigning RAL to the created folder
            DataBinder requestData = client.createBinder();
            requestData.putLocal("IdcService", "FLD_CREATE_FOLDER");
           requestData.putLocal("fParentGUID", getFolderGUID("/"));
            requestData.putLocal("fFolderName", "TestFolder");
            requestData.putLocal("xClbraRoleList", ":Deployers(RW)");
            ServiceResponse  updateResponse = client.sendRequest(connectionContext, requestData);
    Observation
    Folder got created successfully, but 'Deployers' Role not assigned under Role access list.
    Query 3:
    Created a prototype using RIDC to assign enterprise roles to the existing folder
            DataBinder requestData = client.createBinder();
            requestData.putLocal("IdcService", "FLD_EDIT_FOLDER");
            requestData.putLocal("fFolderGUID", getFolderGUID("/TestFolder"));
            requestData.putLocal("path", "/TestFolder");
            requestData.putLocal("xClbraRoleList", ":Deployers(RW)");
            ServiceResponse  updateResponse = client.sendRequest(connectionContext, requestData);
    Observation
    Role got associated with folder under Metadata section, whereas folder information section does not contain the reference of updated role e.g. Edit Folder Information section on WCC UI not showing the added role, whereas Edit Metadata values section of UI showing this role.
    Please suggest what I'm missing in configuration/code and appropriate way to achieve the functionality.
    Thanks.

    Thanks Jonathan!!
    Query 2 and 3 answered by this setting and it worked fine.
    Could you please also assist on Q.1
    Observation
    Since user 'jausten' is not associated with 'Deployers' group, how can 'jausten' access the folder?
    Am I missing some config?

  • How to pull Roles and Policies from backend using SQL query in OIA

    Appreciate your help.

    I am quoting this from MOS Doc Id "Why would multiple session records be present in the User Sessions screen in P6 Web, and why might some of them have different IP addresses? (Doc ID 1600172.1)"
    Multiple sessions show up for users since different sections of P6 Web have their own sessions associated with them. If a user is authorized to use multiple areas of the software they will have multiple sessions each time they log in. Additionally, if users are closing their browsers before logging out of P6 Web Access you might see some past sessions still appearing in the list. These will eventually be cleared out by background jobs, however you can also reset the sessions in the software by clicking the "Reset User" link (Administer > User Sessions > Manage User Sessions), or by choosing the "Reset All Users" link (Administer > User Sessions > Manage User Sessions) to do this for all past sessions.
    Multiple IP addresses for sessions can happen when a user logs in from different machines. For example, a person may login at their desk, but then go to a colleagues workstation to discuss a project, and log in from there. Doing so will leave them with multiple IP addresses in the session records.
    Hope this helps

  • Portal Design - Best Practices for Role and Workset Tab Menu

    We are looking to identify and promote best practices in SAP Portal Design.
    First, is there a maximum number of tabs which should exist on the highest level tab menu, commonly called the role menu?  Do a large number of tabs on this menu cause performance issues?  Are there any other issues associated with a large number of tabs on this menu?
    Second, can the workset tab menu be customized to be 2 lines of tabs?  Our goal is to prevent tab scrolling.
    Thanks

    Debra,
    Not aware of any performance issues with the number of tabs in the Level 1 or 2 menus, particularly if you have portal navigation caching enabled.
    From an end user perspective I guess "best practice" would be to avoid scrolling in the top level navigation areas completely if possible.
    You can do a number of things to avoid this, including:
    - Keep the role/folder/workset names as short as possible.
    - If necessary break the role down into multiple level 1 entry points to reduce the number of tabs in level 2.
    An example of the second point would be MSS.  Instead of creating a role with a single workset (i.e. level 1 tab), we usually split it into two folders called something like "My Staff" and My Finance" and define these folders as entry points.  We therefore end up with two tabs in level 1 for the MSS role, and consequently a smaller number of tabs in level 2.
    Hope that helps......

    John

  • Menu Role and Security

    How do you enable menu roles and enforce security in forms?
    For example in an complex application if we want to have a control of access of menus based on user login
    I know it can be done thru the front-end itself by using an if then condition.
    but can it be integrated with the database user logins itself
    kindly reply
    Thanx in advance

    Hi,
    first RUN frm60sec.sql under system/manager
    create different roles
    GRANT roles to users
    Grant select access to the view created by frm60sec as follows:
    SQL > Grant select on frm50_enabled_roles to public;
    Note it is NOT frm60_enabled_roles.
    To verify that your roles and grants are correct, log on as a user and run the following:
    SQL>Select * from frm50_enabled_roles;
    You should be able to see the users roles.
    then come to MMB file contibue assiging the roles in each menu Item. U ll see get the result.

  • Delete query names from roles and favorites

    I deleted some of the queries in production using RSZDELETE but didn't delete those objects from roles and favorites. As the delete option is disabled in query dsigner and bex analyzer, I m looking for other ways to delete the query names from roles and favorites folders

    PFCG is surely one of the ways to delete queries assigned to a role. But i doubt you might have access to tat tcode in production.
    If you are looking towards deleting the queries from roles and favorites using Bex analyzer, you need specific authorizations. If you have those authorizations you can surely delete the queries from roles and favorites using Bex analyzer.
    Hope this helps.

  • Query user roles and access

    hi,
    How can query user roles and access in whole database? I want to list username, status, rights, and role
    thanks
    P

    Hi,
    The data dictionary view dba_users has one row per user.
    The data dictionary view dab_role_privs has one row for every distinct combination of user and role that actually occurs ion your database,
    Are you interested in system privileges? See dba_sys_privs.
    Are you interested in individual grants, like the privilege to UPDATE a given table, or the privilege to execute a given stored procedure? See dba_tab_privs. (Don't be fooled by the name; it's not just for tables.)
    I hope this answers your question.
    If not, post some CREATE statements, that create tables, roles, and whatever else you want, and some GRANT statmeents that grant privileges on those objects. Pos the results that you would want to get from those objects and grants.

  • Mapping between the query/report and the role with technical names - BI Sec

    Hi,
    How to find the mapping between the query/report and the role with technical names ?
    Like in R/3 we can find the mapping using table AGR_TCODES or thourgh SUIM. However in BI all reports have tcode RRMX.
    So. how to find the role for a given query/report like sales report with technical names?

    I looked into this quite a while ago and cannot remember the exact details, but I think there were 3 tables needed together with a structure to explore with a function module, and you need to use the program ID to think them.
    If you look in SQ01 then I am sure you will find one of the tables, and then search from there onward.
    Alternately, while searching you might find a nice report which does this for you.
    Hope that helps and let us know whether you find it.
    Cheers,
    Julius

  • Report Not apperaing in User's Query Report Viewer Menu

    Hello There!
    Continuing with below thread
    Report Category not Appearing in Report Definition
    When i search for a report i created, i'm(as a normal user) not able to find any report after searching.(assigned to me or to my role.)
    The view PSXPRPTSRCH_VW has two tables PSXPRPTDEFN and PSXPDATASRC .Both have oprid column which is blank and the above view's first where clause is asking for oprid.
    I don't understand how then all the doc./papers on internet i read, to create Report using XML Publisher says/shows the report appears in user menu(query report viewer). May be they still using PS login to show the output?
    Anybody have any idea where am going wrong?
    The category,datasource,Definition,query tree all set properly. Do user need any special role/permission assigned?
    BTW user can see the query report viewer menu.
    Regards!

    Thanks for the Reply.
    from the doc. you gave, this is what i found.
    Home > PeopleBooks > PeopleTools 8.52: BI Publisher for PeopleSoft > Running, Locating, and Viewing BI Publisher Reports
    The Query Report Viewer allows selection and online viewing of those reports that have a data source type of PeopleSoft Query. Existing Query security applies so that each user has access to run only the reports to which he or she has qualified Query access to the data source.
    The PS query and the data source is created by user PS then how can a normal user will have access to that?
    I'm bit confused here.
