There is no data dictionary table that stores this directly.
- You could get the DDL used to create the view and parse that SQL. Depending on how complex the view might be, this could be relatively easy or highly complex.
- You could get a recursive list of the objects that the view depends on (from ALL_/USER_/DBA_DEPENDENCIES) and trace those dependencies back to all the tables that the view depends on. If your view calls functions, however, this may or may not be what you're looking for. If you are selecting from just one table in the FROM clause but you are calling a function that references a dozen tables, do you want one row? Or thirteen? What about tables referenced in a correlated subquery in the WHERE clause?

  • How to get the table name of a field in a result set

    hi!
    i have a simple sql query as
    select tbl_customerRegistration.*, tbl_customerAddress.address from tbl_customerRegistration, tbl_customerAddress where tbl_customerAddress.customer_id = tbl_customerRegistration.customer_ID
    this query executes well and gets data from the database when i get ResultsetMetaData from my result set (having result of above query) i am able to get the field name as
    ResultSetMetaData rsmd = rs.getMetaData();//rs is result set
    String columnName = rsmd.getColumnName(1);
    here i get columnName = "Customer_id"
    but when i try to get the tabel name from meta data as
    String tableName = rsmd.getTableName(1); i get empty string in table name....
    i want to get the table name of the respective field here as it is very important to my logic.....
    how can i do that.....

    So far as I'm aware, you can't get metadata information about the underlying tables in a query from Oracle and/or the Oracle drivers. I suspect, in fact, that the driver would have to have its own SQL parser to get this sort of information.
    I'm curious though-- how do you have application logic that depends on the name of the source table but not know in the application what table is involved? Could you do something "cheesy" like
    SELECT 'tbl_customerRegistration' AS tbl1_name,
           tbl_customerRegistration.*

  • SQL query to get the Datetime 06 hours prior to the table Datetime value

    Hi Experts,
                    I'm just trying to create a SQL query to get the Datetime which should be 06 hours prior to my Table column value(Executiontime),
    Eg: my Executiontime(column) value is 07:00AM means, this query should fetch the detail of first VMName from table at 01:00AM,
    SQL Table Name: TestTable
    Columns: VMName(varchar),status(varchar) Executiontime(Datetime)
    SQL Query : Select Top 1 VMName from
    TestTable where convert(date,Exeutiontime)=convert(date,getdate()) and
    status='0' and ExecutionTime > dateadd(hour,6,getdate())
    Request someone to alter this Query to my requirement or give me the new one.

    Hi All,
            Thanks for your Prompt response. I tried the below queries, but still I don't have any luck. Actually the queries are returning the value before the condition met (say when the time difference is more than 06 hours). I want the
    query to return exactly @ 06 hour difference or less than 06 hours,
    Query 01: Select Top 1 VMName from TestTable where
    convert(date,Exeutiontime)=convert(date,getdate())
    and status='0'
    and ExecutionTime >
    dateadd(hour,-6,getdate())
    Query 02: Select
    Top 1 VMName from TestTable where
    status='0'
    and ExecutionTime >
    dateadd(hour,-6,getdate())
    Query 03: Select
    Top 1 VMName from TestTable where status='0'
    and ExecutionTime >
    dateadd(hour,-6,ExecutionTime)
              Can someone point out the mistake please.

  • How to get the table name and bind columns names in an INSERT statement ?

    I have an INSERT statement with input parameters (for example
    INSERT INTO my_table VALUES (:a, :a, :a)) and I want to know
    without parsing the statement which is the name of table to
    insert to and the corresponding columns.
    This is needed to generate the SELECT FOR UPDATE statement to
    refetch a BLOB before actually writing to it. The code does not
    know in advance the schema (generic code).
    Thanks in advance,
    Joseph Canedo

    Once you have prepared your statement, you can execute the
    statement with the OCI_DESCRIBE_ONLY mode before binding any
    columns. Then you can use OCIParamGet to find out about each
    column (column index is 1-based). You should get OCI_NO_DATA or
    ORA-24334 if there are no more columns in the statement. Note
    that the parameter descriptor from OCIParamGet is
    allocated/freed internally by OCI; you do not need to manage it
    explicitly. The parameter descriptor is passed to OCIAttrGet in
    order to obtain for instance the maximum size of data in the
    column OCI_ATTR_DATA_SIZE. You can also get the column name in
    this way, although I do not remember the #define off the top of
    my head. Getting the table name appears to be much more
    difficult; I have never had to do that yet. Good luck. -Ralph

  • Query to get the data of all the columns in a table except any one column

    Can anyone please tell how to write a query to get the data of all the columns in a table except one particular column..
    For Example:
    Let us consider the EMP table.,
    From this table except the column comm all the remaining columns of the table should be listed
    For this we can write a query like this..
    Select empno, ename, job, mgr, sal, hiredate, deptno from emp;
    Just to avoid only one column, I mentioned all the remaining ( 7 ) columns of the table in the query..
    As the EMP table consists only 8 columns, it doesn't seem much difficult to mention all the columns in the query,
    but if a table have 100 columns in the table, then do we have to mention all the columns in the query..?
    Is there any other way of writing the query to get the required result..?
    Thanks..

    Your best best it to just list all the columns. Any other method will just cause more headaches and complicated code.
    If you really need to list all the columns for a table because you don't want to type them, just use something like...
    SQL> ed
    Wrote file afiedt.buf
      1  select trim(',' from sys_connect_by_path(column_name,',')) as columns
      2  from (select column_name, row_number() over (order by column_id) as column_id
      3        from user_tab_cols
      4        where column_name not in ('COMM')
      5        and   table_name = 'EMP'
      6       )
      7  where connect_by_isleaf = 1
      8  connect by column_id = prior column_id + 1
      9* start with column_id = 1

    Hi,
    This delivers possibly wrong data in MCOD installations.
    Depending on Oracle Version and Patchlevel dba_segments does not always have the correct data,
    at any time esp. for indexes right after being rebuild parallel (Even in DB02 because it is using USER_SEGMENTS).
    Takes a day to get the data back in line (never found out, who did the correction at night, could be RSCOLL00 ?).
    Use above statement with "OWNER = " in WHERE for MCOD or connect as schema owner and use USER_SEGMENTS.
    Use with
    segment_name LIKE '<TABLE_NAME>%'
    if you like to see the related indexes as well.
    For partitioned objects, a join from dba_tables / dba_indexes to dba_tab_partitions/dba_ind_partitions to dba_segments
    might be needed, esp. for hash partitioned tables, depending on how they have been created ( partition names SYS_xxxx).

    What is the responsibility name? Form name and navigation path?
    You can determine the query from the form itself as follows:
    - Query the record(s)
    - Click on Help > Diagnostics > Examine
    - Under 'Block' field, select 'SYSTEM'
    - Under 'Field' field, select 'LAST_QUERY'

  • Query on 0TCT_MC01 to get the last used date of a query

    Dear All,
    I tried to create a query on 0TCT_MC01 to get the last used date of a query.
    Since we do not have readily available key figure for Last used date, could any one help me out to achieve this result?
    I am interested to find the old queries which are not being used anymore.
    Thanks in advance.

    You can get the info from the below tables
    if you are working with BW 3.5 you can look in table RSDDSTAT in BI 7.0 it is RSDDSTAT_OLAP.
    Make a selction on the infocube and the OLAP Statistic Object which is the query ID and execute. Then you should see how often the query was executed, by whom and which date/time.
    in field Statistics Object Name Query ID you type in the tech name of the query
    from the Counter for statistics event calls -- will give the count... no of times the query used least the count lesser the query is used.

  • Not able to get the tables in crystal report 2008

    Hi,
    I am using crystal report 2008 and trying to connect MS SQL using OLE DB (ADO) connection. After giving all DB credentials data base tables are not appearing in the connection. how to get the tables for selection in crystal report 2008.
    Regards,
    Sree

    In the CR Designer, select the connection and press the right mouse button. Select Options in the context menu and check if there is an entry in the Table name fiel. Maybe you have a placeholder there that does not match the names of the tables in the database. Just remove it, close the window by pressing OK and refresh the connection browser (press F5). Unfold the connection again and check if you can see the tables now.
