Question about domain

Hello,
My question is: does the domain contain 100% of the information in an iWeb file. e.g. if i put it on iDisk as a zip file, my friend then unarchived it, opened it on his computer, did work on the website, put it back up on iDisk and replaced the old domain with the new, improved version. When i opened it again, would I see it just as he left it, with all media and everything.
A reply would be greately appreciated
THanks again
Sir

Yes. And you can try it out if you want. I did.
And there's no need to make a a zip file.
Mount your iDisk and double-click the file.
It's rather slow on opening and saving the changes.
For demo purposes I signed up for Dropbox.
It works instantly.

  • Question about Domain file size...

I have a dot Mac account, and my iDisk capacity is 1 Gb.
As I regularly back-up my Domain file from my G5 iMac to a FW external drive that sits on my desk, I have just noticed that the file size is now just over 1 Gb.
Can someone please explain to me why I still have almost 700Mb left on my iDisk, yet my Domain file size is over 1 Gb?? Obviously, there must be 'internal' files that aren't copied to the iDisk.
    Thanks,
    Rachel.

Wow, that's quite a discrepancy. 1gb Domain vs. 300mb site? Well suffice it to say that the Domain file contains all the information that is needed to generate your site. But it makes me curious too why you have such a large discrepancy. Do you have a lot of video on your site?
My site is only about 50-60mb and my Domain is roughly the same size. When I first started using iWeb, I used to poke around inside the Domain file quite a bit more than I do now. You can open up your Domain file by Control-clicking it and selecting "Show Package Contents." At one point early on when I was blithely dragging and dropping stuff into iWeb and publishing just for experimentation, I noticed that even after I deleted images or EVEN WHOLE PAGES, that sometimes the Domain file would still contain images and quicktime movies left over from the deleted pages. I didn't know what was going on and actually tried to delete the "old" items from the Domain file, but I ended up with a non-functional Domain file...lots of error messages saying it was missing this and that. So I started over completely with a new Domain file. I also noticed at the time that my Domain file was several megabytes larger than my site.
Since then, I have been very careful only to drag items to iWeb that will actually be used. The Domain-to-site size ratio has stayed pretty much 1:1. So I chalked up my earlier experience as a fluke. I don't know. Maybe there is an inconsistency somewhere. In fact, do a search here on "Domain file optimizing" or "Domain file bloat" and you may be able to find my questions about the issue. I never did get any responses, though.

  • Question about Domain and Host name fields.

Hello! Just a quick question, I currently have the Mail Server up and running although I'm a little unsure about what exactly needs to be entered into the users email application.
I've tested POP and IMAP using the information that I entered into the "Domain Name" field, and into the "Host name" field, and everything worked great.
    Example:
    Incoming Mail Server: mail.example.com
    Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.example.com
Although while setting up another site and including the normal mail setup via DNS I've also noticed that I can send and receive email by using other sites that belong to me, as long as they are pointing towards our server.
    Example:
    Incoming Mail Server: mail.mynewsite.com
    Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.mynewsite.com
So, I guess my question is whether its bad to use other websites in the incoming and outgoing mail server fields, or should I stick to the incoming and outgoing sites that I have listed in the Mail Server's 'Domain Name' and 'Host Name' fields?
I hope that made sense, thanks again for your help.
    Paul
    PowerMac G5, Xserve G5, and PowerBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Does it matter if our users type mail.example.com
into the incoming mail server, or are they allowed to
use their own domain name "mail.mydomain.com" as long
as the DNS is setup correctly?
There is no intrinsic 'meaning' to hostnames entered into the mail client. These are merely converted to IP addresses, using available dns, and then the mail client communicates with the IP address, using whatever port number is applicable for the service required (e.g., port 25 for smtp, port 110 for pop). So you could use the hostname woohooo.mydomain.com for the smtp or pop server, as long as it resolves to the correct IP.
This enables laptop users to have the one smtp/pop hostname, with lan dns resolving it to the local private IP and ext dns resolving same hostname to wan IP.
There is also no need to have two separate hostnames for pop and smtp. These are typically used by ISPs because they have separate servers doing each job - one doing pop, one doing smtp. If one server does both (and there is no likelihood of splitting the services later) then just the one hostname for pop and smtp is fine.

  • Question about domain name and .mac

my wife and i are going to move to London and we want a website to update people. now it would be a lot easier to say, "oh, just go to www.domainx.com". (with domainx being whatever domain we buy) rather than saying, "oh go to mac.homepage.iweb.ilife.joseph.page1.com" or whatever massive name they choose. now i would like to publish to .mac because of what they allow you to do. is there anyway i could buy domainx.com and when they go to domainx.com it will send them to my .mac published site. i hope you understand the question. i don't want to be limited by domainx.com but i want the luxury of that short domain name. any help would be amazing. thanks so much!

I have a web host which publishes my pages, say www.zzz.com. I want to use JSP/Servlets on my machine which is using Apache Tomcat. Here's the problem, if I link a JSP/Servlet from www.zzz.com, the user will see my IP, i.e. 37.28.18.102/servlets/Calculations
Is there a way where the people's browser's URL text field will always be www.zzz.com even if the page is located on my server?

  • Question about Domain | Muse as Subscription (not a Cloud Member Yet)

    Hi everyone,
right now I have Muse bought on a basis of a "yearly subscription".
I was wondering if this includes a hosting option via Business Catalyst? Or do I even have more than one possible  hosting option?
And where do I find these settings in my Abobe account?
    Best Pink

Your Muse subscription includes virtually unlimited free trial sites on Adobe Business Catalyst plus hosting for one site using the "webBasics" hosting plan on Adobe Business Catalyst. There are tutorials on using Muse at http://muse.adobe.com/tutorials.html and one specifically for "Launching A Muse Site To Push It Live". You can also upload Muse created sites to other hosting providers using the built-in File > Upload To FTP Host... feature or by using File > Export as HTML... and then using a separate FTP application for uploading.

  • Few questions about apex + epg and cookie blocked by IE6

    Hi,
I would like to ask a few questions about apex and epg.
I have already installed and configured apex 3.2 on oracle 10g (on my localhost - computer name 'chen_rong', ip address -192.168.88.175 ), and enable anonymous access xdb http server.
    now,
    1. I can access 'http://chen_rong' , 'http://localhost' , 'http://192.168.88.175' without input username / password for realm 'XDB' in IE6;
    2. I can access 'http://localhost/apex/apex_admin' , 'http://192.168.88.175/apex/apex_admin' , and I can be redirected into apex administation page after input admin/<my apex admin password> for realm 'APEX' in IE6;
    3. I can access 'http://chen_rong/apex/apex_admin' in IE6, but after input admin/password , I can not be redirected into administation page, because the cookie was blocked by IE6.
then, the first question is :
Q1: What is the difference among 'http://chen_rong' , 'http://localhost' , 'http://192.168.88.175' ? I have already include site 'chen_rong' into my trusted stes! why the cookie was blocked by IE6. I have already tried firefox and google browser, both of them were ok for 'chen_rong', no cookie blocked from site 'chen_rong'!
    and,
    1. I have tried to use the script in attachment to test http authentication and also want to catch the cookie by utl_http .
    2. please review the script for me.
    3. I did:
    SQL> exec show_url('http://localhost/apex/apex_admin/','ADMIN','Passw0rd');
    HTTP response status code: 401
    HTTP response reason phrase: Unauthorized
Please supplied the required Basic authentication username/password for realm XDB for the Web page.
    Web page http://localhost/apex/apex_admin/ is protected.

    4. I also did :
    SQL> exec show_url('http://localhost/apex/apex_admin/','ANONYMOUS','ANONYMOUS');
    HTTP response status code: 500
HTTP response reason phrase: Internal Server Error
Check if the Web site is up.

    Content-Length: 147
    WWW-Authenticate: Basic realm="APEX"

    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed
    my second questions is :
Q2: After I entered into realm 'XDB', I still need went into realm'APEX'. how could I change the script show_url to accomplish these two tasks and successfully get the cookie from site.
the show_url script is as following:

I use oracle database enterprise edtion 10.2.0.3. I have already figured out the epg on 10.2.0.3 to support apex 3.2.
And as I described above, the apex site works fine for ip address , and localhost. but the cookie will be blocked by IE6, if I want to access the site by 'http://computername:port/apex/apex_admin'. This problem does not occured in firefox and google browser. Could someone give me answer?

  • Still about domain alias and domain migration

Our company is under a domain name transition. Currently, our domain is lab.D.com, and we are moving to aaa.com.During the transition, we wish both domains could work for us for a long time.
I added a domain alias aaa.com for our domain lab.D.com, the ldif shows:
    dn: dc=aaa, dc=com, o=internet
    objectclass: alias
    objectclass: inetDomainAlias
    aliasedObjectName: dc=lab, dc=D, dc=com, o=internet
    dc: aaa
after restarting msg server, I can send email to [email protected] which is acutually [email protected]
However, this is only half-way to my goal. I wish our emails at receivers' mailboxes were [email protected], not [email protected], if we send emails though loging in web mail typing [email protected] in the user ID box, or by creating [email protected] accounts in MS Outlook.
===> Is there any way to do it?
===> can [email protected] account be created in MS Outlook?
In another post about domain migration, you suggested:
If you want to stop using the old domain, and make the new domain your "default domain", that's a little harder. It involves several steps:
    1. changing all the mail addresses.
    2. changing the "default domain" settings everywhere.
===> I wonder, how to do it? is there any command? ldapmodify?
as an alternative approach, if we decide to change our email addresses to [email protected] first,
===> will emails sending to either [email protected] or [email protected] arrive at users who are still in the lab.D.com, if I only change all the mail addresses' domian part to aaa.com since I have added domain alias aaa.com?
and, I do not think sending emails from [email protected] to the internet would be a problem, right???
The iMS we use is iPlanet Messaging Server 5.2 (built Feb 21 2002), Directory Server is 4.16 which are very old versions :(
    Thanks.

I make no claim to be a programmer, nor am I expert
    with ldap commands.
I know of no easy way to change all, other than
export to ldif, and use a global change with a text
editor, and then re-import.So, db2ldif -> change in text editor -> ldif2db, right?
Another question here is about Direct LDAP.
    I enabled Direct LDAP.
aaa.com is the domain alias to lab.oldD.com (our old domain).
I also have changed user alas' email addresss from alas@ lab.oldD.com to [email protected] and added mailAlternateaddress for alas as [email protected], as you instructed in previous posts.
However, whenever I click "send" either to aaa.com or lab.oldD.com, it shows errors, for examples, - "Returning unknown or illegal alias: [email protected]", "Returning unknown or illegal alias: [email protected]"
    The log shows:

  • Question about autodiscover in case of multiple bound namespace

    Hi Experts,
I have a question about the autodiscover behaviour. Let's assume we have the below infrastructure:
    SiteA :
    MBX-Server-SiteA : Member of a DAG
    CAS-Server-SiteA : outlook anywhere url = siteA.domain.com
    SiteB :
    MBX-Server-SiteB : Member of a DAG
    CAS-Server-SiteB-1 : outlook anywhere url = siteB-1.domain.com
    CAS-Server-SiteB-2: outlook anywhere url = siteB-2.domain.com
We have DB-1 and DB-2 that have copies in both MBX servers.
My question is how does exchange select the access URLs to return in the autodiscover process? I know that it depends on where the mailbox is hosted but can't find details about the process in the technet articles.
    Thanks.

There's quite a few details that are involved in the Autodiscover process. First of all - probably the most important thing is that there are 2 stages to the whole process.
In the first stage, the client is simply concerned with getting the address of a CAS server that will help it further. We'll keep things simple and assume your scenario where the client is located inside the network and is domain-joined. The details of the
    LDAP query are detailed in
this link. (At the time I was investigating this I've actually went ahead and ran the queries using the ldp.exe client against the Configuration partition of the respective AD domain - it's worth seeing the actual responses.) An interesting trick here is
the 'keywords' attribute that's stamped on those SCP entries. The reason behind it is that you don't want a client located in a site to go half across the globe in order to connect to a CAS server, when there's one available in its own site. One simple way
to get the 'keywords' attribute stamped is through the Set-ClientAccessServer cmdlet, using the -AutodiscoverSiteScope parameter. In your example, you'd probably want to run it against the CAS server in Site A and specify the name of the corresponding AD site
('SiteA') and correspondingly against the 2 CAS servers in Site B (using 'SiteB'). Once the client has got the response to his query, it will attempt to select one server that's handling the site he's in (essentially it will filter the results based on 'keywords'
-contains <client-site>). Now that we got our endpoint we can go to stage 2.
In stage 2, the client will actually use EWS in order to query the Autodiscover service itself running on our target server. There are 2 possible interfaces of accessing the Autodiscover service: POX (Plain Old XML) and SOAP. POX will be targeting the ../Autodiscover.xml
URLS, while the SOAP one will be using ../Autodiscover.svc URLs. Details about this including some hardcoded parts are
here. What happens next is detailed in point 3, section 2.1 The Autodiscover Process
here. This last link is the key to the whole process:
"It provides a list of CAS that has AutodiscoverSiteScope information set for the
Associated AD site of the Database where the client Mailbox is located."
In other words, the CAS is smart enough to return the URLs belonging to a CAS server in the AD site where the client's mailbox' database is active.
My advice is to test this on your scenario. Tests can be done here first-hand: the Outlook's tray icon Test E-Mail AutoConfiguration can be used or alternatively - if you want to see the details in the communication - SoapUI
for the SOAP access method, for POX there's an extension called 'Postman for Chrome' that can be used. I've used all these in my tests back when I was fighting conflicting results from the articles around the web about Autodiscover.
That's a long way of saying we get the AutoD URL of a CAS server closest to the workstation, which then provides the configuration to use which are the the URLs closest to the mailbox  :)
By all means look at the SOAP response, but Outlook will only use POX.  Lync does SOAP along with other 3rd party apps.
    Cheers,

  • Misc questions about DFS

Hi, I'm a newbie in DFS and I have several questions about DFS that I hope somebody could answer me:
    1. Introduction/theory/basic stuff:
I've found this webpage "How DFS Works" at https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc782417%28v=ws.10%29.aspx. But looking at its date,
I'm pretty sure it was written for Windows Server 2003.
Is there any updated webpage for Windows Server 2008 or later?
    2. My computers are in a domain/AD 2008 R2.  I'm pretty sure one of the servers is DFS root server.  Are we allowed to have more than one DFS root servers in a domain?
    3. Is there a way (GUI or command line) to list out all DFS root servers?
    4. I'm also reading a white paper on "Microsoft File Server Migration Toolkit" that can be downloaded at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17959.
In page 16 & 17 of that document, it's written that "DFS consolidation roots" can only be hosted in DFS root server running on one of the followings:
Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition SP2
Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition SP2
Windows Storage Server 2003 Enterprise Edition
       Windows Server 2008 Datacenter Edition
Windows Storage Server 2008 Enterprise Edition
Like most people now in year 2015, I'm not going to use version 2003.  That leaves me two choices.  But I actually have a server "Windows Storage Server 2008 R2
Standard Edition" sold by Dell.  Do you think it could work like "Windows Storage Server 2008
Enterprise Edition"?  Otherwise, the only option for me would be to make a "Windows Server 2008 Datacenter Edition"?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
1.Is there any updated webpage for Windows Server 2008 or later?
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc732863%28v=ws.10%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
    2. My computers are in a domain/AD 2008 R2.  I'm pretty sure one of the servers is DFS root server.  Are we allowed to have more than
one DFS root servers in a domain?
You could have more than one DFS root server in a domain.
    3. Is there a way (GUI or command line) to list out all DFS root servers?
We could use the Dfsutil.exe tool to manage the DFS.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/filecab/archive/2008/06/26/dfs-management-command-line-tools-dfsutil-overview.aspx
    4. Consolidation root just supports run on Windows server 2008 R2 but doesnt support Windows server 2008 R2 as a DFS root.
    Regards.

  • Basic questions about JAAS capabilities

I've never used JAAS for authentication or authorization in a Java app before. Can somebody that has (or at least has some experience and knowledge about JAAS) please answer the following couple of basic questions about it? (I know I could probably answer these myself with a few hours of reading.)
    1. Can I use JAAS to restrict the users that can execute specific methods of my code?
    2. If the answer to #1 is yes, is there a way to programmatically determine if a JAAS login user has the permissions to run a method before actually calling that method. In other words, can I ask something like canUserExecute(method) or do I have to just put the call to the method in a try/catch and catch a security exception of some type?
    3. Is it fairly simple to have JAAS authenticate against a Windows Domain or a LDAP server?
    4. Are there programmatic ways to add or edit user information in JAAS?
Answer to any of these questions are greatly appreciated. I'll even toss a couple of Dukes to the people that answer each question. Thanks in advance.

You might look at the AfterthoughtSoft-Secure product at http://www.advancedmodelingconcepts.com. It is designed to do just that and will easily allow you to connect to users/group repositories that are in anything from a simple text file all the way up to Kerberos V.
You can contact the author of the product (me) at bart dot jenkins at gd-ais dot com.

  • Basic questions about Ironport

    Dear responder,
I have some questions about the S series Web Security Ironport, It would be appreciated to respond it one by one.
1-Is ironport can work independently if i buy it alone and put it on the edge of my network and connect the internet to the one of that ports and connect my local lan switch to the other port?
2-If i can use it independanly can i use it in the Transparent proxy mode not the explicit one and make it sensitive to the Http traffic to bring the Authentication page for new users who want to connect to the Internet?
3-Is there any authentication page in ironport or i have connect to the ironport to use Internet like VPN connection by an agent?
4-Assume that if a user is currently log-in and the user wants to log-out, it there any way to Logout from the Ironport with a specific page for loging-out?
5-Is there any local database is available into the Ironport to create users?
6-Is there any option to define radius or Ldap server address as User database to read when needed for authentication propose?
    thank you so much.
    Abraham

    Good Afternoon Abraham,
In my answers I'll assume you'll get AsyncOS 7.5 for Web for your WSA.
    1.  This is "in-line" mode, and while the documentation doesn't specifically say you can't do this, it doesn't say you can either.  The support on this is fuzzy.   There are 2 supported ways to deploy a WSA: Transparent redirection (using WCCP or policy-based routing), or explicit mode, using settings in the browser, or PAC files.
    2. If I understand your question, the answer is yes.  With transparent redirection, you can force all http traffic to the WSA, and require users to authenticate.  You can force the users to enter a username and password, or it can happen automatically (see answer 3)
    3. There are a few ways to handle authentication for your users:
They can authenticate to the the ironport, which can do a lookup against your LDAP or Active Directory.
It can transparently authenticated them if you're using Active Directory and a browser that supports it (IE, Firefox, Chrome)
You can use the ADAgent (runs on a seperate box) which scrapes the security logs from the AD domain controllers and passed authenticated users and their IP to the the Ironport.
    4. I'm not aware of a "logout" page.
    5. There is a "local database" for administrative users, and you can use RADIUS for administrative users, but not for your regular users. (see answer 6)
    6. Yes. You can use LDAP, Novell eDirectory, or Microsoft Active Directory for your users.
    I hope that helps!

  • Questions about upgrading from Exchange 2010 RTM to Exchange 2010 Service Pack 3

I am preparing to perform an maintenance upgrade on our current Exchange 2010 Server, to Service Pack 3 (and any post-SP3 roll ups), but I have a couple questions about the process.
    Current Exchange Server details:
    Exchange 2010 Standard
Version: 14.0 (Build 639.21) - from Exchange Management Console
Version: 14.0.702.4000 - from Outook client
Active Directory forest and domain levels: Windows 2008 R2 native
    The questions I have are:
    1.  Can I assume that because it's version 10.0.702.4000 I am on Exchange Server 2010 RTM Update Rollup 4?
    2.  Can Exchange 2010 Standard RTM be patched directly to Service Pack 3, or would I need to perform incremental patches (i.e. SP1, SP2, etc.) before going to SP3?
    3.  Do I need to manually perform the AD domain schema prep before applying Service Pack 3, or will the Service Pack 3 update process automatically handle the modifications of the AD schema?

    Hi,
Here are my answers you can refer to:
    1. Firstly, I’d like to explain , we can use connection status to check our Exchange server version from Outlook client:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-in/outlook-help/determine-the-version-of-microsoft-exchange-server-my-account-connects-to-HA010117038.aspx
And I check my version from both EMC and Outlook client. It’s same.
    2. We can directly update RTM version to SP3 , and the update will take an additional 30 minutes or longer per database.
    3. Since Exchange 2010 SP3 makes updates to the Active Directory schema, we need prepare AD domain schema. However, it will automatically prepare AD and the domain when you install the update.
For more information, you can refer to the following article:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj965774(v=exchg.141).aspx
If you have any question, please feel free to let me know.
