Question : Color ramp with overlapping markers

Hi,
I am using a color ramp and would like to understand why, when 2 markers are overlapping, the colors are sometimes switched. In my project, the user is able to create overlapping markers. The problem is that I never know if the ramp will switch the overlapping colors or not.
I made a small VI that illustrates this.
The markers colors go: red-green-blue.
But, on the right ramp, where 2 markers overlapped at 80, the green and red have be exchanged.
I can't find the reason why and I need to understand this in order to have my ramp working properly in my project!
Thank you for your help!

Here is an other "funny" example of the problem, when feeding the read(Scale.MarkerVals[]) to the write(Scale.MarkerVals[]).
The overlapping red and green markers switch after each iteration.
This is exactly the problem I get in my program: every time I write the MarkersVals of a previous reading, the colors are switched.
Thanks for helping.

  • Is it possible to make multiple subclips with overlap markers at one go ?

I know to make subclips, we use MODIFY > MAKE SUBCLIPS but how do I do the following:
Let's say I have captured some 20 mins of clips from my video camera & named this clip as MainClip in the the browser.
When I double click MainClip in the browser, it will appear in the Viewer.
    _QUESTION 1:_
How do I get 4 subclips from this with the following requirement:
    Subclip1: 2nd min to 3rd min
    Subclip2: 5th min to 6th min
    Subclip3: 8th min to 9th min
    Subclip4: 10th min to 12th min.
    How do I place In-point at 2nd, 5th, 8th & 10th min and Out-Point at 3rd, 6th, 9th and 12th min ? How do I do it in one-go ?
    _QUESTION 2:_
How do I get 4 subclips if the segments I want are overlap, for example if I want to create subclips having the following requirements:
    Subclip1: 2nd min to 3rd min
    Subclip2: 2.5th min to 6th min
    Subclip3: 5th min to 9th min
    Subclip4: 8th min to 12th min.
NB: the In-point for subclip2 are now overlap and is in between the In-point and Out-Point of subclip1 (ie 2.5th min is in bewteen 2nd and 3rd min)
    Thanks

Otherwise you have to mark In and Out points for the first section, press Cmd-U, mark new I/O, and press Cmd-U again.
    Thanks Tom.
I am working on PAL Standard Definition.
But I think maybe you misunderstood my question. Or maybe I misunderstood you answer.
I can capture the clip from my video camera into the browser without problem. My problem is after I captured them. After I captured them, I double click in the bowser & it will appear in Viewer. So, I use the method "press Cmd-U, mark new I/O, and press Cmd-U again" in the Viewer ?
Can I know what is the menu equivalent of Cmd-U ?
Question 2: You cannot use the marker technique described above, you have to use In and Out points. You can't do this in one step.
If I understand you correctly, what you are trying to say is the "press Cmd-U, mark new I/O, and press Cmd-U again" method will work even if the the clip overlap bcos everytime a Cmd-U is being pressed, a new set of I/O is being activated ?

  • Aif with track markers converting to mp3 -mp4 or aac question

I think I know the answer but, I have aif file of audio made in Peak with track markers. If I convert the aif to an mp3 I can play it in I tunes or my Ipod but the track markers do not copy. Would I have to convert the mp3 to an mp4 or is it an aac file that Garageband makes? Come to think of it - it would just be like making a podcast as I would add the track markers in the chapter maker of GB3. I ask this to make sure there is no easier way since I originally made the aifs for cd's so I can select track to track with the markers there but since the original source time was 90 minutes I could only get 70 minutes on a cd but I can get the full 90 minutes in an mp3 / aac format. Is this the way to go?

The latest version of iTunes has moved the location of the settings for this. (If you have an older version the principle is the same, it's done from the Importing pane of Preferences.)
Open iTunes Preferences: select 'General'. On the line 'When you insert a CD' click 'Import Settings'.
In the pane which opens, set 'Import using' to 'MP3 encoder'. Set 'Setting' to 'Custom'; in the pane which opens you can choose the bitrate, stereo/mono, the quality etc.
Close the preferences panes. Get your recording into iTunes. Select it in the library; from the 'Advanced' menu choose 'Create MP3 version'. This will appear in the library and you can delete the AIFF version if required (make sure to send it to the Trash, which appears as an option, or it will remain in the library folder).

  • How to change colors in Color Ramps

    Hello,
I would like to use Color Ramps, and I need to change colors. In help documents, it say that I juste have to right click in the icon and change what I want. But I tried all option and I can't do anything I want.
    Can you help me ??
    Thanks
    David

Seems that I'm not the only one to have problems with color ramps...
Nearly everything was explained in the on-line help. Nearly...
"Complete the following steps to change the colors of a color ramp.
    1. Right-click the color ramp or a marker and select Marker Spacing»Arbitrary from the shortcut menu to switch the color ramp to arbitrary marker spacing.
    2. Use the Operating or Positioning tools to right-click the marker next to the color ramp and select Marker Color from the shortcut menu to change the color associated with a marker.
    3. Select the color you want from the color picker that appears."
    Additionnal hints :
After switching to arbitrary marker spacing, suppress all intermediate markers (right click> Delete). Then adjust the colors of th
e two remaining end markers. With some ramps, you will be obliged to move slighty the marker position to get a color update.
If you need to insert intermediate colors, add intermediate markers (right click > Add). Using the text tool, type in the exact value associated with the marker. Select the color you want to associate with the marker.
When finished, switch back to uniform marker spacing.
    Have fun...

  • 3D Plot Color Ramp - Colors to Values

    Hi all,
The Color Ramp for 3D plots only displays 3 values; not all values for every displayed color is shown (see below).
The actual values associated with each color is available via the 3D Plot Properties dialog (during edit).
How can I access the values for these colors programmatically such that I can display them to the user?
    Thanks,

You're right that they don't match the values exactly. It also is completely dependent on how the values are set for your particular color ramp, especially whether or not they are evenly spaced. In your first post, you showed a picture with the colors distributed according to the default. The method I mentioned in the previous post gets pretty close to these values (really a little under each of them - has to do with how the default is distributed).
You're also right that this isn't a very good solution. It's a work around to a functionality that I don't think exists. There are probably better work around options - that's just what I came up with.
    One question please Alisha.
Are we to accept your work-around as the best answer NI can offer?
I would think a CAR is called for to ensure R&D is at the very least aware of the issue.

This is using the colorramp associated with the intensity graph, but it's also true of the basic colorramp in Controls->CLassic->Numeric. The colorboxes change color, but the ramp itself remains the default black-to-blue interpolated scale. (labview 6.1, Windows 2000)

The color ramp has a number of colors that control its appearance, up to
about 256 of them. The top and bottom colors are actually the above and
below colors. In otherwords, if your scale goes 0 to 100, the below
color is for intensities below 0 and the above color is used only for
values above 100. Using autoscaling for the Z scale, you will not see
those colors unless you start zooming in by manually changing the Z
scale values. The intermediate colors are set by righ
    t clicking on the
markers on the scale. Right click on 100 and there should be a menu
item for Color which will let you change its color. Ditto for 0, and
for any intermediate markers. You can add intermediates by popup or by
dragging another marker onto the scale. You can also drag the
intermediates or type into them to change their location.

  • How can I view the color ramp in LV 8.6 sensor-mapping express vi during run-time?

    Hi All,
I've been using the sensor mapping express VI that is new in LV 8.6. When I place the express vi in my block diagram of my main vi I get the normal 'express' style configuration dialog. As a part of the configuration there is a really nice 'color-ramp' control where I can configure ranges; max; min; out -of-range colors and so on.
What I would like to do is have the color-ramp control appear as a control on my main vi's front panel. After I convert the express VI to a regular VI I can't seem to find the connection to this control. Although I have found the sub-vi that the expressvi uses in an .llb here:
    C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.6\vi.lib\express\express 3d picture\SensorConfig.llb
Can anyone point me in the right direction to do this? I get so deep into all the sub-vi's I end up getting lost-haha!
    Thanks - Paul

The characteristics of the color ramp (max, min, colors) are all part of a "colorrampstuff" cluster that is inside the Sensor Mapping express VI. In order to change those values for the express VI, you will need to create a custom express VI that provides you with inputs to this cluster. This is done similarly to creating a subVI. Then you can use a variety of methods to write to the elements in this cluster and change them while the program is running.
It may be easier to place numeric controls on the front panel that write directly to the elements in the cluster than to use a color ramp as a control.

  • Quizzes: Questions and Answers are overlapping in

After creating quizzes in the Quiz Manager, the questions and answers are overlapping in my presentation.
I tried playing with the Appearance options of the Quiz manager and the Master Slide but nothing seem to help.
Also, the radio buttons are not constantly aligned with their corresponding answers.
    Could you please help me?
    Thank you

There's actually a couple of reasons why the question element and it's corresponding "distractor" (aka the answer) are not lining up.  First and foremost, using the Appearance feature is only really meant to configure the styling of your text elements; its not very useful at all when it comes to alignment issues and that's what's going on with your example (thanks for providing the jpg!!!)
Need to ask you this: did you make any changes to your answers "after-the-fact"?  Meaning, that at one time you had an answer programmed into your question, but then did you decided to manually change your answer on the slide WITHOUT going back into the Quiz Manager to do so?
I ask b/c I've seen instances where editing the answer/distractor to a question messes up the vertical alignment of the text element.
That said, here's what you can try: If you select the "grouped" text box for the answer, you can change it's vertical alignment by setting it to "top".
Just remember that all answers that are created by Presenter are grouped items and MUST REMAIN SO!  Do NOT ungroup any of the question components, or your question will cease to function properly.
One other thing you need to know: the placement of the question elements (radio buttons, distractors, etc) are ABSOLUTELY controlled by the positioning of your Slide Master's Text Frame.  This is why your question paragraph is being impacted by the question item (answer) that follows.

  • Blue color balance with iSight and Java

I have seen this question posted before - with no real answers, only suggestions that had nothing to do with the problem. Here's whats going on - internal camera and any connected Firewire camera works fine on iChat, PhotoBooth, IMovie, etc. Use those same cameras - internal or external- on a Java based web page and the image shifts to a blue monochrome. Not the blue you get with incorrect color balance from lighting, but nothing but blue hues. I can take the same Firewire camera and hook it to my G4 laptop running the same OS (10.4.8) and it works fine on the Java sites. Problem only occurs with Intel iMac and ANY camera. The problem appears to be the way the OS intergrates with Java (via Quicktime, or is QT out of the picture when using Java?)) on the Intel computer.

I have looked on MacFixIt for both Blue Screen in Java and just Blue screen and have not turned up any results.

  • Can I modify the form of a color ramp (I don't want a square but a heart)

    Hello !
I want to know If we can modify a color ramp, because mine is a square and I want to have a heart.
If no, maybe can I load an image (of a heart) and make it change of color in function of input datas ?
    Thanks !
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

veux tu un coeur?? (I hope it's correct  )
In the attachment is what you want.
    How I did it:
     - in Photoshop (you can use something else) i created a picture, crop the middle as a heart, create a new layer and save it as GIF. It is very important to save it as gif because it allows transparent areas of the picture. Saving it as bmp will fill the middle with white.
    - open your front panel and drag-and-drop (using the mouse) the created gif file.
    - add the "color ramp" (be sure to size it in order to fit to the heart), bring the image to front and send "color ramp" to back (on the toolbar there are some buttons which allow you to set the order of the controls and indicator - front or back)
    Now you have your heart.

  • Confused - Color control with multiple utilities available

I have Photoshop 7, Monaco EzColor, NVidia 6800 card with a control panel, and a SyncMaster 193 Plus digital monitor with control software. ALL of these can change the monitor qualities. I use Monaco to profile my scanner and printer - it does a great job; it can profile the monitor also.
My question is: what would be the best overall CM system - which combination of controls (or which one)would be best (the monitor control utility has stopped working and I have turned it off).
I would appreciate very much any advice born from experience.
    Thanks
    vangogh

    Thank you, Chris, sounds authoritative.
One more.... some system changes are forcing me to recalibrate printer and monitor (as above). I have a Photosmart 8250 HP. Printing from Photoshop AdobeRGB, I have choices in the Photoshop Print With Preview window, Color Management (or Output) and the Monaco printer profile with Perceptual (which I've been using).
In the HP Properties dialog I have a Color tab with a Color Management box, ("ColorSmat sRGB, Adobe RGB, Managed by Application, and ICM). Up until now I've been using "Managed by Application".
I am assuming this is the best route. Of course, the Monaco calibrating settings would have to be similar. Your comments, please?
    Thanks

  • My i860 canon printer is suddenly printing color pictures with light blue and darker blue horizontal

My i860 canon printer is suddenly printing color pictures with light blue and darker blue horizontal lines.  I have changed the cyan blue cartridge and the problem still exists.  Does anyone know what the problem is?  Thanks.

    Hi CSM,
We can perform a print head cleaning and alignment on the printer to try and resolve the issue.  To do this, please follow the steps below:
    PRINT HEAD CLEANING
With the printer powered on, press and hold the <Resume/Cancel> button.
    <1> Resume/Cancel button
When the power lamp blinks once, release the button.
Note:  The power lamp will blink and print head cleaning will start. The cleaning completes when the power lamp stops blinking.  (It will take about 30 seconds to a minute for the power lamp to stop blinking and remain lit solid green.)
    PRINT HEAD ALIGNMENT
Confirm that the printer is powered on, and load Letter-sized white plain paper in the sheet feeder.
Note:  If paper other than Letter-sized white plain paper is loaded, print head alignment cannot be performed properly.  The automatic print head alignment must be performed from the Automatic Sheet Feeder on the top of the printer.  It cannot be performed from the cassette.
Press and hold the <Resume/Cancel> button, and release it when the Power lamp blinks four times.  (The Power lamp will start blinking and pattern printing will start.)
Print head alignment will start automatically as the following pattern is printed.
Note:  Please wait approx. three minutes until printing is completed.
    Hope this helps!

  • How do I add a color ramp to a numerical tank indicator?

    Hi,
I'm trying to add a color ramp to a tank indicator. I'm using Labview 2009.
Right clicking the tank, selecting properties gives me a dialog box with several tabs. On the 'scale' tab, there is a tick box 'show color ramp' and a dependable tick box 'interpolate color'.
Unfortunately, I am not able to check the boxes. I'm guessing I have to change certain settings of the tank indicator or something, but I can't seem to find the way to add the color ramp to the tank. Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance.

This is another idea that may also help. I made a tank indicatior with multi sliders giving each one a different color.

  • Scaling intensity graph Z-ramp with panel - how?

In LV7.1.1 is there any way to get the color ramp associated with an intensity graph to scale with changes in the VI panel size?
I've tried telling VI to scale the intensity graph indicator with the panel and that didn't work nor did telling it to scale all front-panel objects with the panel. The ramp always retains its original size.

    I think you are stuck.
As for most of the controls, there is no way to change the size programmatically.
The only thing you could do as work around is to create a picture control (which size can be changed...) to mimick the graph scale...
