Question on convertig to pdf

how to convert an excel file to a fillable pdf?

Install Acrobat XI. This will make Acrobat's PDFMaker available to MS Office applications and lets you create a PDF from these application's files.
Also the Adobe PDF virtural printer is installed. This lets you do a File :: Print and using this printer you print a PDF.
Once you've the PDF use Acrobat's forms wizard to provide the initial form fields. Then manually complete the task (yes, you'll have to do this).

  • Questions about using a PDF form online

I have a client who wants to create an online version of a PDF form that they are currently using. I am currently trying to explain to them that this would be best done as an HTML web form, but I may not win this argument. I have only used PDFs for printed forms (either hand-written or using form fields) so I am not familiar with any problems that converting the form for use online would entail.
When the 'Submit' button is pressed on the form, is there a way to redirect to another web page after the data is submitted? (i.e. does the PDF have access to it's outer 'environment'?)
Are there any security issues submitting data using the PDF form as opposed to using a standard web form? (There may be sensitive data being submitted)
I'm not sure how they plan to handle the data that is submitted, but there are several options in the submitForm parameters - I am assuming that using the HTML option would submit the data in the same format as a web form would. Am I correct here?
Can the PDF be prevented from being downloaded or printed? This form should only be used to submit data to their server, not as a printed form.
Are there any other 'gotchas' that I need to look out for? Does anyone have a recommendation for a site which contains any tutorials or guidelines for using PDF forms online?

    Thanks for the information.
Yes, I agree that there is less reason for it to be a PDF form (Actually, no real reason other than the original form already exists in PDF), but I am unfortunately in the position that my input in this project is not necessarily being considered (my company is following direct -and inconsistent- directions from the client, and I have no contact with the client to ask questions about what their actual needs are). I have been told to give the client the 'Tomato' that they are asking for, even though they are describing an 'Apple'.
The reason this form is not meant to be printed is that we have replaced the 'Signature' fields from the original form with checkboxes that the user must check to confirm they have 'signed' the document. If they are to print/fax/whatever the document, they should use the original form, not this one. And I am still trying to explain to them that this would be better served with an HTML web form, but I fear I am losing that battle.
I have brought up the fact that it is not 100% guaranteed that Acrobat will be available in the browser, although I can only guess that it is less than likely that anyone will not have some sort of PDF viewer available to their browser.
I will also mention that issues may arise if the file is not submitted from within the browser.

  • Basic Question - adding a downloadable PDF

    Hi:
This is a pretty basic question but after searching the
Dreamweaver Bible I can't find the answer. I want to put a word
document on a site. I am considering 2 options: 1) just put a
downloadable PDF on the site or 2) import the text from the word
doc and just put it as another page on the site. All I can figure
out so far is to cut and pace from the word doc to a dreamweaver
page. I'm reading about import word html command but can't find it.
My questions are: 1) how to I include a PDF file and 2) where is
the import word html command located.
    Thanks,
    Rex

  • Acrobat Pro 8 question to lock downloaded pdf to computer.

    Hello to everyone.
I am interested in Adobe Acrobat Pro 8 for Mac, but I have a question which needs an answer to.
Can you lock a pdf in Acrobat Pro 8 to the computer used to download the file? I was told by a sales rep that if you exclude the ability to print, copy, edit, and move a pdf file in Acrobat Pro 8 this will lock the file to the specific computer used to download it. Is this statement correct? I am trying to find out with a definitive yes or no. Thanks for any and all help.
    Cory

Alternatively, look at using digital signatures and the security
policies. This method ensures that only the person with the matching
certificate can open the file and have specific options ...
It would involve swapping digital ID files but once set-up, it's very
powerful ... just uses Acrobat 8 and even Reader ..

  • Question for sending a PDF Form with desktop mail

    Dear all,
I try to create a PDF form and use it for a Workflow.
Therefore I created some "Send" Buttons and put into the Properties/Actions/Submit a Form the comand "mailto: [email protected]".
The second "Send" Button contains another mail adress which is also shown while putting the mouse over the button.
But after clicking this one the PDF is still send to the Mail-Adress from the first button!
Any idea, what went wrong or where the issue is?
    Thanks for a quick feedback
    Thomas

    Hi try67,
    thanks for the tipp.
I already renamed all send-buttons -> but it still does not work!
This morning I deleted them all and created new one - now it seems to work.
BUT: it only works as long as there is no digital signature on the document.
As soon as the first signature is placed - all send buttons change to the same email adress.
    ???? Looks quite strange....

  • Question about linking to pdf and doc documents

When I link to pdf or doc pages in my web page they always down load to the down load folder and then I have to go find them and then double click on them before they open. Is there anyway to get these type documents to open automatically when they are selected in my web page?
    thanks

Word documents should always download and.  There is no Mac option to just "Open" those files.  With regards to the PDF format that is a little different.
If you have a Mac with a Core Solo or if you are running Safari in 32-bit mode or Camino then then Acrobat should be set to open the files in a browser.  In the preferences for Acrobat make sure Fast Web View is selected and make sure you have Acrobat set to open up the PDFs.
If you are have a Core 2 Duo/Core ix Mac then you are by default in 64-bit mode with Safari.  If this is the case unfortunately Adobe has not released a patch to make the PDF reader plugin work in 64-bit mode.  Adobe's "fix" is to run Safari in 32-bit mode which isn't a fix and Acrobat is long overdue for an update.  But that aside, Preview should open up the PDF documents.  If that is not opening up the PDF in the browser I would have to look into it a little more.  Probably a corrupted plugin but I would even know where to replace it off the top of my head.

  • Question about creating interactive PDF form

Someone provided me a PDF brochure file that was converted from an image file and was asking if we could setup the form where it could be published online and some of the fields could be filled out on the form and submitted as a registration online (name, phone, etc).  I currently have Adobe Flash CS4, Adobe Indesign CS4, Adobe Acrobat 9 and was wondering what the best way was to go about setting this process up.  I have setup some basic forms using Flash and php to submit form data via email but I was hoping to embed these form fields directly in a PDF file so they could be filled in online... would look nicer and more professional.
    Thanks!

Sure it's possible. One way to help insure that the original blank form does not get overwritten it to make it read-only in the file system. To do this in WIndows, open an Explorer window, find the file, right-click on it, select Properties, and select read only. You cna do the same type of thing on a Mac in FInder > Get Info
When you save the filled-in form, just save it with a new file name. If you accidentally forget and atttempt to overwrite the original, it won't be allowed and you'll be notified.

  • Two questions - embedded files and pdf creation

I'm wondering if some 'experts' can provide some information? We are a small education company that produce a monthly current events resource for Canadian schools. We provide these resources via mail and also as a pdf file from our website.
We are not 'experts' by any stretch of the imagination but we have been able to make ID suit our needs and we are learning slowly as we go. Over the summer, we hired a graphics company to refresh our products and we are very happy with the work they did.
What Im wondering about is they are advising that its bad to have pictures, etc. embedded in ID when creating a pdf file. I have never heard of this and Im wondering if someone can explain why?
Also, we have always created pdfs by printing a postscript file and then using Distiller to create the pdf, but again Im told that this is not a good idea and that creating the pdf directly from ID is best. I have tried this but the file sizes always seems to be larger and keeping it small is important.
Thanks in advance for your time.
    Eric Wieczorek

    Hi Robert and Jeffrey
Thanks for the info and advice. The reason that we have always embedded the files is that the file moves around the office while different people work on it on their own computers. And I also have a home office and I work there sometimes.
The file is about 30 - 40 pages and there are usually about 20 - 25 images so its just so much easier to embed all the links and just move the one file. We have found this to be the easiest way to work and we have never had any issues . . .

  • Question re copying current pdf docs

I have a whole load of PDF docs which were created by an external agency when I set my business up.  We've moved address and I want to edit these docs without going back and paying a small fortune for someone to just amend address at foot.....what is the best way for me to edit existing PDF docs?

With Acrobat Standard (I believe, I run Pro so check the actual ability to edit before purchasing Standard) you would use the Touch Up Text tool to edit an address at the foot of a form. This will require that you have the actual font used for that installed on your system, and you may experience incorrect spacing. It is dependent on how much editting/characters are being removed and replaced.

  • Resolution questions from PSD to PDF

I have a picture book illustrated at 300dpi in Photoshop. The printer wants PDF's at 2400dpi. Using Distiller, I set the specs at 2400 dpi with no compression as per the printer's request. When I open the saved PDF in Photoshop, the image shows as 300dpi. Any ideas on what I could be doing wrong? If I have to save the original files to 2400 before saving as a PDF this could take weeks. Thanks for any help!

You are confusing PPI or pixels per inch vs. DPI or dots per inch.  Just select one of the default Acrobat distiller settings like PDFX1a or High Quality Print. They are built as 2400 dpi which is output resolution - not to be confused with file resolution.

  • Question ON failed export pdf

Why does exportPDF continually answer enexpected error on all files tried to Word docx file?   Bought today failed all attempts so far!

    Hi David
Thank you.  The conversion succeeded after shutting down the computer,
restarting a session next day from within Acrobat Reader X version
10.1.4 and logging in to the ExportPDF software /before /selecting a
file to convert.   It was therefore a problem of not logging in first or
of having to reboot the machine, after buying your software and
resetting the password that helped solve the problem.
Hopefully this procedural order will help with others who have had the
    problem.
Please share this solution with the forum if you want to.

  • Question about legibility of PDF in Acrobat reader

the resolution is fuzzy in Acrobat and very clear in Nitro Reader, why is free Nitro Reader clearer than my paid-for Acrobat Reader?

    Adobe Reader is free too.

  • Newbie Question: How to Compare PDF Files?

I've seen a number of posts saying that Acrobat 9 has good document comparison tools.  I just downloaded Adobe Reader 9.2.0 for Mac.  The Documents menu has no menu item for document comparison.
    What am I missing?
Thanks very much in advance to all for any info!

You need Acrobat Pro for that.

  • Three questions: (1) hard to get firefox to close; (2) can't download linked PDFs from journal websites, as I can with safari; (3) how do I migrate my complete firefox setup from old mac computer to new mac.

I am running firefox on a 4-year-old macbook. When I want to close the firefox application, for example when I am shutting down the computer, it hangs, will not quit. Sometimes I get a prompt about continuing a script and after I click on that, then it closes. Often, however, I have to do a force quit ("firefox not responding").
I am going to be setting up soon on a new macbook.
My firefox has been elaborated with several add-ons, including read it later and a couple of feed add-ons. I have an elaborate bookmark and tab group setup. Will it be possible to migrate all of that to the new computer.
Will my having a fresh new computer resolve the problem with getting the application to close? Or should I be concerned about importing the problem along with the application?
The other question concerns downloading of PDF files that are linked at medical journal websites, where I have permission for download of articles. I can do this in safari. But the process is not working in firefox. The blank window comes up like I am going to get a download prompt, but then that does not happen.

    I did that :
    Open Terminal
    1 - wget http://rpms.famillecollet.com/remi-release-8.rpm
    2 - sudo rpm -Uvh remi-release-8.rpm
    3 - sudo mousepad /etc/yum.repos.d/remi.repo
Make sur that in remi section enabled value = 1 and in test section enabled value= 0
    4 - sudo rpm -e --nodeps firefox
5 - sudo yum install firefox
It was successful for me after many hours to look for the right answer
