Question on Formula Creation in Numbers

I am creating a form that involves two columns, both of which involve the same formulation. On the first I start with $200,000.00, which increases in increments of $50,000 up to $2,000,000. Is there a way to set up a stepper that would accomplish this, or...? Thanks in advance for any help!

Google Spreadsheet Formula Supportable in Numbers?

Hey Folks,
Am hoping someone might be able to support me here.
I have a spreadsheet I originally created in Google Spreadsheets that I'd like to move to Numbers and am trying to sort out if a formula I've got running in GS works in Numbers.
Basically, each row of one of my spreadsheets contains the information for a financial transaction -- a check register, for all intensive purposes.
COLUMN A: Date
COLUMN B: Item name
COLUMN C: Amount
COLUMN D: BALANCE
COLUMN E: (Blank column)
COLUMN F: CATEGORY
I then have a separate part of the spreadsheet that lists each category and the total amount for each category.
This was achieved by using a formula in Google Spreadsheet like this:
=SUMIF( F:F ; "Groceries", C:C)
In the example above, any line item with the category "Groceries" in F would have its amount (from Column C) taken and added to the current total automatically. I can then reference this Category Total in other spreadsheets, which ends up being very handy.
Have not yet found out if there's a similar formula available in Numbers.
Anyone have any idea what something like this would look like? Would love to be able to replicate it.

In fact, the original formula
=SUMIF( F:F ; "Groceries", C:C)
is accepted by Numbers if you remove the embedded typo.
Between F:F and "Groceries", you typed a semi-colon which must be replaced by a comma.
On my French system, I entered:
=SOMME.SI(F:F;"Groceries";C:C)
=SUMIF(F:F,"Groceries",C:C)
and Numbers automatically translated to:
=SOMME.SI(F;"Groceries";C)
=SUMIF(F,"Groceries",C)

A question about Job Creation

Hi Expert,
By JOB_OPEN, JOB_SUBMIT, JOB_CLOSE, we can schedule a job.
When the first two FMs is executed, the job is still in 'scheduled' status. Only when the FM JOB_CLOSE is executed, the job will be in 'released' status.
In my applicaiton, I need to check the job status. If the job is in 'scheduled' status, I think that the job creation is not successsful; Otherwise, the job creation is successful.
But the issue is, if job is in 'scheduled' status, how can I know whether all three FMs is executed in the job creation or only JOB_OPEN and JOB_SUBMIT are executed while JOB_CLOSE still not starts?
In the later case, the applicaiton should wait some time and check the job later.

Suppose there two APIs.
In API1, there are four steps:
1. call FM JOB_OPEN
2. call FM JOB_SUBMIT
3. Save the Jobname and Jobcount in the DB
4. CAll JOB_CLOSE
in API2, there are two steps:
1. get the Jobname and Jobcount from the DB
2. Call FM BP_JOBLIST_STATUS_GET to get the job status.
API1 and API2 are executed asynchronically. Consider the following case:
After STEP3 is executed(STEP4 has not yet been started), the API2 starts to run. Now the job status that API2 get is 'Scheduled'.
This is not correct, because the job creation is still not finished. The API2 should wait some time and check later.
So my question, is how API2 know that the job creation is not finished.

Very simple question about formula EXACT

Hi,
i'm new to Numbers. Trying to use the 'exact' formulas.
It's not working, so I'm reading the help section about it...
The example is the following : =EXACT("toledo"; "toledo") should return a TRUE value.
Numbers keeps telling me I have a syntax problem... Don't know where it is...

I don't know where you are and this may be the problem.
If you are running your program on a system using the period as the decimal separator, in Numbers the operands must de separated by commas.
My guess is that your system uses the decimal period and that French is the 1st language in the International Pref pane.
EXACT() is used in the English version but this one doesn't use the semi-colon in the Help or in the insert functions tool.
It's used also in the French version which use the semi-colon in the Help and in the insert functions tool because in French (of France) the decimal separator is the comma.
The two eastern localized versions uses EXACT() too but they assumes that the decimal separator is period so the parameters are separated by comma.
If my guess is true, you may go to my iDisk:

Formula expression in Numbers

Hi,
I'm very new to Numbers so can anybody help me express the formula -
Anchor Load=Load divided by Cosine half angle over 2
The "Anchor Load will be 2 x cells, the "Load" would be a cell, the "angle" would be a cell.

I'm not really sure about this.
In image 2, what are constants and what are the fitting paramters?
The fitting parameters are "n" and "k" on image 1, representing refractive index and absorption coefficient respectevly, basically, image 3 shows the Real part of an FFT. Image 1 is a trasnfer function that explains image 3 in IDEAL situation, so, I am trying to recreate Image 3 from an Ideal function by replacing the "n" and "k" values constantly untill image 2 is satisfied. Image 2 basically gives the difference between the actual parameters (i.e. image 3) that were practically measured, and the recreated parameters (estimated from Lev-Med) algorithm.
"Can you point to a website that describes the theory behind it?"
Attached is a paper where they describe this process. It has some physics involved but it should be a light read. They use the "Nelder-Mead algorithm" (i.e. the Downhill Simplex nD VI ), but I find it even more difficult to implement this formula on this VI.

Is it possible to give just a simple example VI that includes a "summation and an exponential" form, maybe I can built on that the more complex formula from image 1.
Overall:
Even that image 1 contains alot of letters, the only variables are "ns - as seen on image" and "k", all others are defined descrete values. I can perhaps replace all the letters in image 1 with numbers and only leave "n" and "k" as variables to make it easier, and make that as the starting point in building the VI.

Formula limits in numbers

Hi, I have just uploaded an excel spreadsheet to iCloud and then downloaded to my iPad. When I attempt to open on iPad I get an error message that says "Spreadsheet cannot be imported....to many formula in spreadsheet to be imported..."
What are the formulae limits...is it the # or is it the type. The spreadsheet I am importing is complex.

The limit is variable depending on the number of formulas, datas, cell references, volatile functions, or even the number of blank cells used.
Here are some of my testings I've done for iOS Numbers. After using the following amount of cells in one sheet to the following description, I measured the following amount of delay before being able to do any further action.
12 seconds - 150,000 blank cells
40 seconds - 150,000 cells containing a number
100 seconds - 150,000 cells containing a formula referencing one other cell.
App froze - 150,000 cells each containing long complex formulas with multiple cell referencing, vlookups, and other non-volatile functions. When origination from excel or '09 Numbers, this file would say, "Spreadsheet couldn't be imported"

A question about emailing or exporting numbers tabs on iPad

A question about numbers. Is it possible to export just one tab from a spreadsheet? I want to keep all my invoices in one spreadsheet but when I send it as a PDF or excel, all the tabs are sent. The only other option appears to be to create a new spreadsheet for each invoice. Wouod be great to ablr to store them all in one folder and send separatley. Any help appreciated.

Question about formula

Hi there.
I am trying to make a numbers document for my work. I am a nutritionist and what i am trying to do is that each time i enter data on specific columns (eg. weight, fat mass) i want those LATEST numbers i input to be used in another sheet i made that is a result sheet i am giving to my patients. I don't want to choose every time the latest cells. I want numbers to do it automatically for me. Is there a formula to do it? I tried to choose the range of cells but numbers automatically chooses SUM as formula.

Since you have a date column and are looking for values associated with the latest (largest) date, you can also do something like this:
The formulas:
    In B2: =INDEX(DATA TABLE::$B,MATCH(MAX(DATA TABLE::$A),DATA TABLE::$A,0))
    In B3: =INDEX(DATA TABLE::$C,MATCH(MAX(DATA TABLE::$A),DATA TABLE::$A,0))
    In B4: =INDEX(DATA TABLE::$D,MATCH(MAX(DATA TABLE::$A),DATA TABLE::$A,0))
The MATCH part of the formula returns the row number of the largest value in A (the latest date).
The INDEX part uses that row number to retrieve the value on the row in the specified column.
Here only the specified column in INDEX changes: $B for Weight, $C for Fat Mass, $D for Body Water.
If you happen to have resorted the DATA TABLE for some reason, this will still give the latest results.

Question on printing out repetive numbers/letters in toString()

i was doing my lab and this one was one of the labs we skipped but im still curious as to how to do it. it was basically about printing out any primative type in the toString but canceling out repetitive letters/numbers.
ex: String c = "cccccccfebq";
then the print out when i call toString will only be febq. any suggestions as to how i can do this.

Regular expressions...I can't think of a good way to describe what they do....
It's a way you can manipulate strings (for searching or replacing) using rules which can be simple or complicated or somewhere in between. The rules are like a little language of their own. In particular a grammar is defined in which sequences of characters can be thought of as generated by these rules and so the searching and replacing is done with respect to how the generated sequences compare against the input string.
God that's a lousy description. I'll bet jschell or UlrikaJ can do better.
In the meantime read the docs. There may be a tutorial online but I'm too lazy to search for it for you.
BTW I got that ("aaaaaaaaaaaaWXYZ") from your first example. The question is what happens if there are non-sequential repetitions.

Questions about PO creation / update / cancel interfaces

An E-Business Suite 11.5.10.2 customer wants to use the 11i PO creation / update / cancel interfaces in order to manage Purchase Orders created from a 3rd party system.
I've been through the 'Oracle Purchasing Open Interfaces' guide (115mfgapi.pdf), but it's still unclear to me whether:
1/ It is possible or not to add a new PO line to an existing PO through the interfaces ? If yes, how do one do that: what interface ? sample code ?
2/ It is possible or not to change the distribution (= accounting information) of an existing PO line ? If yes, ...
3/ It is possible or not to reject the full PO document if a single line fails during the PO creation ? Same for a batch of POs: reject the full batch if a single PO fails ?
4/ Is it possible or not to cancel a PO line even if the shipment already occured ? And even if the payment already occured ? Are there some controls here ?

1. Answer is YES. You can add a line to an existing standard purchase order by choosing the UPDATE. This can be done through Purchase Documents Open Interface.
I can not give an example. It's quite long to write it. But You should use Open interface user guide to find nessesary columns. Just insert new row with status UPDATE and try to import

Newbie Question On Library Creation and File Duplication

I'm new to iTune's hard drive file organizing structure, so bare with me.
I have a single directory on Hard Drive 2 (HD2) called "Music". When I create a music library in iTunes from that music directory source, iTunes appears to create its own new directory in "Macintosh HD/Users/iTunes/Music" (HD1) and thus I now have duplicate directories of music on two different hard drives, HD1 and HD2. Add Time Machine to this mix (which backs up both drives) and I now have four directories with duplicate music. Nice.
Okay. So, assuming this is the case (and please correct me if I am wrong), then my question is, once I create a Library via iTunes program, can I now delete my original HD2/Music directory of files since iTunes is referencing its newly created directory in HD1? Or, is there some sort of association still going on and I must live with the duplicate directories and subsequent quadrupled directories? (Which I know I can selectively exclude some stuff from Time Machine, but it is easier to back up everything.)

Yes once music has been added to iTunes you can remove it from its original location with way you have iTunes set up at the moment.
On the other hand you could change the iTunes preferences so that it does not copy files into the iTunes library, instead it leaves the files were there where and points to them.

Three questions about the creation of secondary indexes in ODS design mode

1. When we right click the Indexes folder in ODS design to select Create to create the Index folder 010, a small window pops up with a check box called "Unique", do we have to check this checkbox to create folder 010?
2. If we would like to include 3 InfoObjects into the secondary indexes, then how many folders we need to create? Need to create 3 folders like 010, 020, and 030 and place the 3 InfoObj. into the 3 folder respectively or create only one folder 010 and place all the 3 InfoObj. into this one folder 010?
3. In SAP documentation titled "BW Performance Tuning" about the Indices, it says "If the (uncompressed) F fact table is small, it is usually faster to drop the secondary (bitmap) indices before the load and build them up after the load"
Someone here says secondary index is only for ODS other than for cubes, but from the above statement, F fact table is related to cubes, then how to explain it? Also the above statement is talking above the variant in process chain that when you bring in a variant to load data to cube, then the drop index and generate index variants will be automatically created, does it refer to this? And what's bitmap index?

Cube has Secondary index's. The index's that we find in the Manage of the Cube are the Secondary Index's. Please check the following link for more information.

Questions regarding Project Creation - SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN

Hi,
I went to tcode SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN and created a project called ZTEST. Internally there is a tab IMG project from where i created a project named ZTEST for development system.
Questions:
1) Is the project created from SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN is a SMI project ?
2) IMG project created is what we are seeing in SPRO_ADMIN of solution manager .. is this right or is it the one creating in development system SPRO ?
3) Where can we can see the CTS project created for the SM1 or IMG project ?
4) Also do we need to create IMG project from SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN for the quality and production system type also ? or required only for development system ? if so what is the reason ?
5) I tried one project creating IMG project for quality and production but the project is not creating, but if i doonly for development system it is creating ok and maintenance cycle underneath it is creating... Any idea why ?

So if understood correct, basically only one IMG project needs to be created that too for Dev System. Also this is the stage CTS project also got created is it correct ? which again means only one CTS project overall per SMI project.
One more question which i missed earlier:
A SMI project created with only Dev and QA in the landscape and some reqs has been assigned to it and may or may not imported some of them to QA also, later i created a Prod system and made the logical component to configure for the same and it got reflected in the SMI project also. But if i go to scheduler it is not showing the PRD system, is it something to be done manually ?
