Question on getJdbcConnection() in Controller

I know it's not best practice to perform inserts/updates/etc... in a Controller after getting access to the database connection with getJdbcConnection(), but I have a question in this area.
Does one have to explicitly close the Connection object that gets created with a statement similar to:
java.sql.Connection connection = oadbtransaction.getJdbcConnection();
in Controller based code?
i.e. call connection.close()
Thanks, I appreciate it.

You are shouldn't close the connection.
You'll get errors on doing so.
Same connection object is being used by your AM and VOs to fetch data.

  • MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR Questions & RAID Promise FastTrak Controller Issue

    I have recently rebuilt my system replacing the MSI KT3 with an MSI K7N2 Delta. I have been impressed with the features and stability of the system, however, I have some questions that I hope some of you that have more experience of this board can answer:
    1. I am using the AMD Athlon XP 2200 (and all the other components including the Lian Li case) which I was using on the KT3 board. The CPU temperature is around 45 degrees C but on the KT3 it was only 35 degrees C when idle. Any ideas ? The heatsink is definetly mounted properly. The temperature did drop by 10 degrees C when I flashed the
    BIOS to fix the known CPU temperature issue but I think its still high.
    2. I do not have any serial ATA devices or anything connected to IDE3 channel and during the BIOS boot up I get the message:
     "No drives attached to FastTrak Controller. Bios Not installed."
    Is this correct ? Should I be getting this message ?
    I would like to disable the onboard Promise Controller since it is taking up resources and it slows down the boot speed (although only slightly). The MSI website says that the onboard RAID controller can't be disabled. I think this is poor design. Does anyone know if this is going to be addressed in future BIOS releases ?
    3. Which of the USB ports are USB 2.0 and USB 1.1. I thought it was rather strange that only 2 of the 4 ports on the header actually active.
    Many thanks for your help.
    Rupesh

    First off your temp is ok on that board. If you have not loaded the onboard raid driver do so and it is something you have to suffer with on the MSI board. All of your USB ports should run at USB 2.0 and you also should be able enable all of them in the bios.

  • Design question: Access points and controller Logical/Physical placement

    Background:
    We have an MPLS (layer 3) network 4 offices and a Datacenter:
    We are planning to install about 10 Access Points(3600 series) per office and have a controller(5508 series) in the Datacenter.
    Questions:
    1- Is this design possible, in other words, just one controller centralizing all Access point traffic in one controller in the Datacenter?
    2- We would like to accomplish this in two phases:
        A- install access points without controller handling authentication thru microsoft IAS servers (current configuration with 1200 series)
        B- Deploy wireless Controller in Datacenter and start migrating orphan APs to Controllers one office at a time
    I'll appreciate any advice , comments and suggestions to the the outlined plan/design
    Thanks
    Juan

    1- Is this design possible, in other words, just one controller centralizing all Access point traffic in one controller in the Datacenter?
    Yes... depending on the bandwidth you can either have the APs in local mode which tunnels all traffic back to the WLC or you configure the AP's in FlexConnect and place the traffic locally in each site.
    2- We would like to accomplish this in two phases:
        A- install access points without controller handling authentication thru microsoft IAS servers (current configuration with 1200 series)
        B- Deploy wireless Controller in Datacenter and start migrating orphan APs to Controllers one office at a time
    I don't know what you are trying to accomplish here, but if you are running new cables and replacing all the AP's, you should bring up the WLC in the DC and connect all the AP's but leave the AP as admin down until your ready to cutover.  You can still use the IAS server for radius, just need to create a AAA client on the IAS for the WLC.

  • Question about 2504 Wireless Controller

    Hello,
    I am tasked with configuring a 2504 wireless controller.  Is it possible to assign an SSID to an interface that has dynamic ap management enabled?
    Scenario:
    Location1:
    1) 10.0.0.0/24
    2)192.168.0.0/24 DMZ
    Location 2:
    1) 10.0.5.0
    Both locations are routable using network 1 at each location.  However, I need to configure several access points and send them to location 2.  These access points will communicate with the controller at location 1 on network 1.  Two SSIDs will need to be on network 1 at location 1.  The other SSID will be on Network 2 at location 1.  This network is not routable.
    Thank You for your help.

    So this is how you want this to be setup:
    Scenario:
    Since location 1 is a flat network with only one subnet (internal) and one in the DMZ, you will configure WLC management/ap-manger port 1 on the 10.0.0.0/24 subnet.  You can then map your SSID#1 to the management interface.  Create a new dynaminc interface on the WLC and assign it an ip in the 192.168.0.0/24 subnet and place that on port 2.  Connect port 2 to the DMZ.  Now since you want everything to tunnel back to the WLC from location 2, you would leave the ap's in local mode.  Devices in location 2 associating on SSID #1 will obtain an ip address in location 1 and tunnel back to the WLC and traffic will egress out of port 1.  Devices that associate in location 1 or location 2 to SSID#2 (Guest) will tunnel back to the WLC in location 1 and traffic will egress out of port 2.
    Since you want to tunnel traffic back to the WLC from location 2, you need to make sure your link has enough bandwidth or else the ap's will be bouncing.
    If you setup the AP's in location 2 in h-reap mode, then you can place devices that associate to SSID #1 on the 10.0.50.0 subnet.  Devices that associate to SSID #2 at location 2 will tunnel back to the WLC and egress out of port 2.

  • Question on licensing the controller et al?

    I have WCS licensed but what do the licenses for the controllers do and do I need it licensed? Also what is a license for Wplus? and do I need that one?
    thanks
    Gary

    Hi Gary,
    Licensing is enforced on the WLC product line. With the 4400 series
    of WLC the license was tied directly to the controller size that was
    ordered, and could not be updated/upgraded to support a higher number
    of AP's
    ie;
    4402-12 (could support 12 AP's)
    4402-25 (could support 25 AP's)
    4404-100 (could support 100 AP's)
    The new 5500 series can be ordered with a base amount like 12 and
    upgraded down the road via a new "License" to support 25,50,100 etc.

  • Temperature Monitor Alert:Memory controller heatsink Results!!!

    Hello all...
    I have a question about the Memory Controller Heatsink sensor in the temparature monitor and I would appreciate it if you could shed any light in my problem.
    Well it was long time since I checked my temperatures on my G5 DP 2.3 so yesterday while I was into some MP3 encoding I heard the fans making alot of noise ,not something unbearable but not the usual silence behaviour I was used to even under heavy load and with the nap off.
    So because of that noise I decide to check it with the temperature monitor but nothing unusual came up except...yes you guess it the Memory Controller heatsink.
    An alert came up and inform me that the temp was over 75 C/167 F.
    The threshold was by default at 75 C/167 F.
    Let me add that it's summer here and a hot one at 37 C and the room is not airconditioning,but it was exactly the same one year ago(June 2005)and I never came up with an alert.
    Also I have no problem with the rest indications.
    So what do you think is it normal or may I have a broken fan?
    And finally what is the Memory Controller Heatsink?
    Thanx in advance!

    The memory controller heatsink is shown, with the associated cooling tubes and fins, in the right-hand photo of the 'back' of the main logic board here
    http://homepage.mac.com/jerrycube/jerrycubepix/22601bluebord.jpg
    Air is pulled over the back of the main logic board and through the cooling fins, by the fan in a plastic housing, at 90deg to all the other fans, behind the hard drives.
    This fan is called "Main Logic Board Backside" by Hardware Monitor in this ancient DP2.0 - and is showing "20%" in 22deg C room temperature. "Memory Controller Heatsink" is at 54deg C.
    37deg C is above the specified max. 'Operating Temperature' of 35deg C shown here
    http://support.apple.com/specs/powermac/PowerMac_G5_Late2005.html
    I think it would probably be advisable to find some way of lowering the temperature of the room the G5 is in...

  • Proportional controller connected to a function generator

    Hi....
    We'd like to connect some output from a proportional controller to a function generator which
    produces a square pulse with variable duty cycle.
    The question is what proportional controller to use here and if there is any examples related?
    And how to produce this square pulse with a high frequency, while some controllers do not support
    any thing more than 1kHz? In addition, if it exceeded this, something wrong happens to the output and disappears?
    Thanks in advance
    Ray

    Ray,
    Please be more specific in your description. Proportional controllers usually do not connect to function generators so it is not clear exactly what you are trying to accomplish.
    Which parts of your system are hardware and what kind? Which are implemented in LV (which version)? What are the inputs and outputs to both the hardware and software? What frequency range do you need? If you have specific problems with a part of your LV program, posting an example showing the problem is very helpful.
    When you say the output disappears, do you mean that the pulses stop? That may simply indicate a 0% or 100% duty cycle.
    Many inidviduals with a wide range of experience monitor this forum and will try to help if we understand what you are trying to do.

  • Two Wireless controllers load balance and failover question

    I have two 4404 controllers and each can take 100 APs. I have 140 APs in total. With the default settings (no master controller, no configuration of Prime, secondary controller on APs), each controller will take 70 APs, right?
    Then I will need to configure each AP with an IP address, name ...etc. My question is, when one Controller failed, these 70 APs will try to associate with another controller, right? However only 30 APs can because another controller can maximum manage 100 APs. Then in this case, will these 30 APs lose their static IP addresses and names? When the failed controller came back online, will the 70 APs automatically go back to this controller and have their IP, name configuration back?
    Thanks!

    With default setting you have no control how many ap's go to what wlc. It doesn't matter, because you will need to specify the primary and secondary. You might as well stage all the ap's you want on one wlc first and set that wlc to master, then when you have finished that, set the other wlc to master and have the ap's join that wlc which will be the primary fro those ap's.
    You only can support 100 ap's so depending what code you use, 30 ap's that are not able to join will just keep trying. If you run 5.2 (I think is buggy) you can set the priority on the ap's so that ap's that you set up with a higher priority will be able to join and the others will again sit there until the othe wlc comes back up. Static IP address will not dissapear because the wlc doesnt' accept any more connections. Once both wlc are up, the ap's will go back to their primary wlc as long as ap fallback is enabled and mobility is configured right.

  • USB controller in Macbook Pro 15 (late 2013)

    I'm looking to buy a video capture box for capturing from various devices at up to 1080p @ 60 fps.
    This device seems a good candidate: http://www.solarisjapan.com/xcapture-1-usb-3-0-hd-capture-unit/ and reviews are pretty positive, it's also compatible with the free Open Broadcast Software app I currently use for capturing on a PC desktop.
    The device only works in Windows which is fine as I have Bootcamp set up. The issue is it uses usb 3.0 and only works with Renesas and Intel usb controllers.
    My question is, what usb controller is used in the Macbook Pro 15, I'm thinking either Broadcom or Intel, and obviously I'm hoping Intel.
    Many thanks in advance,

  • Guest Controller License requirement ???

    Hi All ,
    Question regarding the Guest controller ( Ancher controller). ... What license will be required to guest controller ???
    Assume i have a LAN controller with a license of 100 AP , and now i am going to plan for guest user  WiFi access as well but with separt Controller.
    Will i need guest controller with 100 AP license ???
    Your quick response will be helpful for me and if possible please share the URL for reference. Thanks.

    There is no need for any license for anchoring Guest in you network. You can configure you current WLC for the same.

  • NI Serial Port / Eurotherm Temperature Controller

    NI Serial Port / Eurotherm Temperature Controller
    I am using a N.I. AT 232/4 board with four additional N.I. serial ports. First of all, after installing Windows NT (before I was using Windows 98) the NI Serial Port Diagnostics Program was not able to detect any of the ports even though the ports are correctly installed within Windows. When I was still using Windows 98 the NI Serial Port Diagnostics Program was able to detect all the four ports. Is it necessary that the diagnostics program detects the ports in order to use them with Lab View? I have also two regular Serial ports, which have never been detected by the diagnostics program, but I should still be able to use them with Lab view as well? D
    oes the NI Serial Port Diagnostics Program not function with Windows NT? Do you have an update version for Windows NT?
    Im trying to control a Eurotherm 2416 and 903 Temperature Controller with two serial ports. Unfortunately, Eurotherm does not give support anymore about Lab View drivers for their Controllers, since they have developed their own Automation Program (iTools) now. I still want to control the Eurotherm Controller with Lab View via the serial port. Do you still have the driver VIs for the 2416 and 903? It would be nice if you could send me the Eurotherm divers also along with some documentation.
    There is already a question posted about Eurotherm Controller (Eurotherm Temperature Controller not Functioning with NI Serial Board). It is probably a similar problem unfortunately the solution did not bring the right success. Therefore, I would like to ask you to specify the so-called 4-Wire mode.
    Thank You very much for Your help!
    Sincerely,
    Benjamin Thoma

    NI-Serial 1.45 does not install correctly on Windows NT Server 4.0 Terminal Server Edition. The driver (serial.sys), configuration utility (niports.cpl), and inf file (niserial.inf) are installed incorrectly to the user profiles directory.
    A workaround is to copy the files to the right folders which is detailed shortly.
    Definition: "%windows%" refers to the operating system folder. Note: The default operating system folder for this version of Windows is "Wtsrv".
    serial.sys - %windows%\system32\drivers
    niports.cpl - %windows%\system32
    niserial.inf - %windows%\inf
    Note: "niserial.inf" does not need to be copied unless an AT card is being used.
    The above files can either be obtained from the installation CD in the WinNT folder or from the hard-disk locations that they were
    incorrectly installed to which are detailed shortly. Note: Leaving the incorrectly installed files where they are will not harm the system. Definition: "%userid%" refers to the ID that was used when logging in to Windows.
    serial.sys - %windows%\Profiles\%userid%\Windows\system32\drivers
    niports.cpl - %windows%\Profiles\%userid%\Windows\system32
    niserial.inf - %windows%\Profiles\%userid%\Windows\inf
    For the newly copied driver to take effect the system must be rebooted.
    As for the instrument drivers, you can search our instrument driver site to try to find them. Go to "other driver resources" at the link below.

  • Question about Pagecontrol sample app

    Hi,
    I've been looking at some sample apps to help with a beginners project that I'm doing. There is a Apple sample app for PageControl.
    The app delegate contains this code (I hope I'm OK to include this here, please tell if not)
    // replace the placeholder if necessary
    MyViewController *controller = [viewControllers objectAtIndex:page];
    if ((NSNull *)controller == [NSNull null]) {
    controller = [[MyViewController alloc] initWithPageNumber:page];
    [viewControllers replaceObjectAtIndex:page withObject:controller];
    [controller release];
    // add the controller's view to the scroll view
    if (nil == controller.view.superview) {
    CGRect frame = scrollView.frame;
    frame.origin.x = frame.size.width * page;
    frame.origin.y = 0;
    controller.view.frame = frame;
    [scrollView addSubview:controller.view];
    I've highlighted two lines and my question is: how can controller be used when it has already been released in the previous section?
    I'm very new to this and I thought that releaseing an object meant that you could no longer get to it?
    Many Thanks in advance

    Message was edited by: Ziximo

    Objects aren't deallocated until their retain count goes to zero. When the controller is alloced its retain count is one. When the controller is added to the array its retain count is incremented to two. It's then released to reduce the count to one. Assuming the controller isn't retained by any other object, it will be dealloced when it's removed from (and thus released by) the array. - Ray

  • K7N2 MS6570 Video Controller- driver not found

    Hello All,
       After a clean install of W2K all of a sudden the Video Card and my Intel V.92 Modem weren't being detected.  I got the modem to install by going into device manager and deleting the yellow question mark for PCI Simple  Communications Controller but no matter what I have tried I still get a yellow question mark for Video Controller (VGA Compatible) in device manager.  The driver can't be found on the Mobo Disk, in W2K sp4, Video card driver disk.  All say not found or no such driver.  Also the video card is showing up on POST but after that, nothing, no where is it being detected.
    I have taken out and reseated the video card, cleared the CMOS, been into BIOS to check that ESCD was set to Auto, booted into Safe Mode and tried to get it detected from there, nothing has worked.  Specs for the system are:
    AMD Barton 2800+
    512 MB DDR 333 PC 2700 RAM
    PNY Gforce FX 5200 128 MB
    CDR/RW
    Lite On DVD ROM
    K7N2 MS6570 Mobo
    W2K SP4
    500 watt PSU
    The reason I say I think something has really gone wrong is that prior to the reinstall of W2K everything was working just fine, better than I ever expected it to work.  No hardware was put in or taken out, the system wasn't even opened up for anything, just a clean reinstall of W2K.  If anyone has any suggestions at all I would really appreciate it, I'm about at my wits end here.
    Thanks very much,  LG;)

    Hi,
    Have you DirectX installed? - If not download and install it. Also, have you tried installing latest video card drivers - from either your Video card manufacturer or nVidia's website?
    Sometimes it's better to run the driver's auto-install program, rather than allowing Windows to look for the driver itself - AFAIK, the install procedure unpacks all it's files to hard drive then accesses this directory in order to install the drivers (this is the case with ATI software, anyway.) I suspect your drivers on CD are packed - this is why Windows can't find them.

  • CHARM create a own Phase  Controller

    Hello ,
    I have question to the phase controller of CHARM . How can I create my own phase controller and my own phases ?
    I found this tables :
        /TMWFLOW/TPCPVAA -> actions mapping to phase
         /TMWFLOW/TPPHMCV -> phase controllers
    But I found no customizing entry in the img
    Have someone any information to this ?
    Regards
    Daniel Rothmund

    Hello Daniel,
    I'm really new in Solution Manager world, but we want exactly the same type of modifications, authorize for some phase actions that are not allowed.
    What I see is note : 986524 (old note but in this note you have access to actions list of a phase model).
                                    939726 is another note explaining how to add action to model phase.
    I check a little bit SAP coding and I suppose that function module used to check authorize action is /TMWFLOW/PHCNTRL_CHCK_COOP_ACT
    This function module is used into CHECK_ACTION_IN_PHASE method of class CL_SOCM_INSTANCE (SE24 transaction).
    SAP is not really clear about how-to add specific action but in customizing point Actions in Change request Management under extended configuration of ChaRM there is a point Implement BAdI Extension that could be usefull.
    Hope it could help. If you have some information, I'm interested.

  • Q ab. Hard Drive upgrade; PATA/SATA, S.M.A.R.T., HDD Controler

    I have a few questions about replacement hard drives for my PowerBook G4 12" 1.0 GHz DVI. (I am also going to upgrade the hard drive in my wife's Powerbook G4 15" 1.33 GHz Combodrive, but I think the questions/answers below will apply to both. I'll just deal with my 12" for ease here.)
    I have read Apple's specifications and searched all over to find detailed information about ATA ratings and compatibility, and I'm still in the dark about a few things. I'm interested in a 160GB or a 250GB internal drive to replace my 80GB (which did come standard as an optional feature, although this is my second 80GB--I burned the first one before my Applecare expired), and I'm looking at the following drives, for instance:
    HITACHI Travelstar 5K160 HTS541616J9AT00 (0A28419) 160GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache ATA-6 Notebook Hard Drive - OEM
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822146200
    Western Digital Scorpio WD2500BEVE 250GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache ATA-6 Notebook Hard Drive - OEM
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136159
    Questions:
    1. HDD Controller limit to internal drive capacity: I've read that older powerbooks (whatever this means, it wasn't specified) may have a 128GB limit, supposedly meaning that the HDD controller will only recognize 128GB on an internal drive. Anyone know if this is true? How do I find out? It isn't published on Apple's spec page for my machine. And, if such a limit does exist for my machine, can I install a 160 GB and get the full 128GB? (b/c a 120GB will only give me 100+ usable after all.) Will the fact that the drive is lager than the total recognizable amount mess up the cataloging, data retrieval, reliability, stability...?
    2. ATA-100 vs. ATA-6 vs. ATA-7 vs. PATA vs SATA. My present 80GB TOSHIBA MK8025GAS just says ATA in the System Profiler "Protocol" field for the ATA drive. I presume that the SATA is a later, more recent, non-backwards-compatible format/pin configuration/?. I presume the 100 refers to the 100mb/s data transfer rate, which is what the Apple specifications have for my machine. The drives I am looking at, by and large, are rated at 100mb/s. They all have other specifications, however (ATA-6, ATA-7), and I am hoping to hear that they do NOT refer to pin configuration differences.
    -Q- will PATA and SATA drives both fit my machine, or does the "Ultra ATA/100 hard drive" listed in the Apple Specs for my machine mean that the pin configuration/compatibility will only work with PATA drives? Thus, Is Parallel ATA what I have and need?!?! Will a faster SATA drive work in my machine? Would I be able to swap it out into a MacBook Pro when I upgrade next year? (i.e. are SATA drives &/or boards backwards compatible with PATA drives? And are PATA drives &/or boards forward compatible?)
    3. S.M.A.R.T. verification capability. I am unclear as to whether this capability is essential and which drives provide it. Some information states that Hitachi Travelstar drives DO support S.M.A.R.T. verification, but such is not listed on their information about the drives. My present 80GB Toshiba DOES have this capability, so System Profiler says. Before my previous drive failed, SMART notification may have saved me (though it's unclear if it actually made any difference--it's just notification, after all, right?), alerting me that the drive was failing and thus giving me enough time to get the last bit of un-backed-up data off the drive before it died altogether. (This is a presumption based on changing S.M.A.R.T. status notifications in System Profiler and from Disk Utility Repair Disk reports). In fact, however, I don't really know what SMART verification is, and thus I don't know how important it is.
    -Q- How important is S.M.A.R.T. verification capability? And what is it really?
    -Q- which manufactures support it?
    Many, many thanks for any insight.

    Jeremy:
    does, that the Seagate Ultra ATA/100 which I'm about to buy will not work with an Intel-based Mac?
    Your Intel-based Mac needs a Serial ATA (SATA) HDD instead of ATA or ultraATA, PATA etc. Not knowing the specs of your IntelMac select your Intel Mac here and navigate to your Model for a list of compatible HDDs.
    I do intend to install them myself. I haven't had this G4 open, but I put 2 HDDs in my previous G3 without issue, so I think I'll brave it, armed with iFixit instructions.
    Since you have done it before, this addition may be superfluous, but here are few tips you may find helpful:
    • Print out the ifixit directions as well as the screw guide ahead of time.
    • Be sure you have the right tools. You don't want to damage the screw heads or you may never get them out. And the correct size Torx screw driver is critical.
    • I use small medicine cups one for the screws in each step. I nest them so that the last ones out and the first to go back in are on top. You can use an ice cube tray, egg carton, dixie cups etc. (Some users report cutting up the screw guide and placing the applicable section in each container.)
    • Be very careful pulling out leads. Hold the lead as close to the plug as possible and wiggle (the plug ) to loosen its grip. Don’t hold the wires and pull as that can damage the cable, or worse, in some instances pull the wires out of the plug. Indeed, some users have pulled the socket off the logic board! Use needle nose pliers or tweezers if you can access the plug, or nudge the plug with a small instrument to help loosen its grip.
    • Use force gently in removing parts. Separating upper and lower case takes some doing. Use a plastic tool (spudge) so as not to leave marks.
    • Refer to the screw guide when reassembling computer. Putting longer screws in the wrong place can perforate the circuit board.
    Please do post back with further questions or comments.
