Question or Suggestion

I have spent the last few months digitizing my library of DVDs Movies and TV Shows. Now I've got them imported into iTunes, however when I have a long list of episodes in my playlist it can take forever to scroll down to the point.
Is there a quick way to jump to the most recently or unwatched/played item in the list? And if there isn't it would be nice if a double tap down on the remote would kick that in.
Also I'm coming up on filling a 2TB HD. I've got a second 2TB HD that I'll be adding the new content too. Will I have to manually organize those or will iTunes still organize but not copy the media to the other drive?

If you uncheck the option to 'copy files' then iTunes will leave your files alone exactly as you've organised them - all it does is add the information about the file into the iTunes library database so that e.g. your Apple TV can find them. So, if you want to organise your files in a particular way on your second hard drive it would be best to do this first, before adding them into iTunes.
I agree with your suggestion re: Apple TV, in fact there's a few things they could improve but having looked at some other media streamers I still think Apple TV is ahead of the game - hope they keep it up with regular updates!

    I'm probably going to touch on a sensitive topic, but please hear me out. In working with some legacy systems and I have the need to deal with unsigned values. Needless to say this is difficult to do in Java. There are some work around solutions, but they are hardly ideal. I would like to suggest this feature be added to the language. The question I have is how do I go about suggesting a new feature and get the ball rolling? Is it as simple as forking and developing it all yourself hoping it gets merged in or does it mean you have to go through the JCP?

    the java opcodes were made to fit into a byte.
    as it is now, a lot of those opcodes are used
    for primitive conversions and every permutation of primitive arithmetic.
    if they added 4 more primitives to the existing 6...Couldn't that statement apply to any language addition? "I'm sorry I shouldn't do it because I've only got a byte and need to save it for more useful stuff."

    My message is not an answer to the above-referenced topic/subject. I want to bring in some more substance and see how our friends at Oracle Support--or other colleagues, can address them.
    But first let me thank Oracle support for the answer to my recent posting! Regrettably, that didn't much address my question fully. Maybe, I wasn't just more clear.
    I agree--please bear with me-with you that there might be limitations and there. Not only on this item, but to many other. These are all inherent to a new technology. I will try T list some, and suggest improvement whenever possible. Let's call these "improvement opportunities" instead of limitations/bugs.
    (1). My previous question. We are dealing with a relational database, and our requirements, I dare suspect, might be more than O HTML DB CAN, actually deliver? Suppose, again, I have 4 tables. PRODUCTS, VENDORS, PRESENTATIONS, PRESENTERS. Why these last 2 tables? Before any technology enters our corporate IS environment, it must be approved. It goes through a strict technology acquisition process. Vendors that are selected, say for the bid, must do presentations. At the end, the Technology Committee will make a decision (after doing a Technical Proof of Concept (TPOC).
    Now, we want to be able to list presenters and presentations for each product (whenever available). There are more than 1 presentation for a given product and there also situations where you have more than 1 presenters for a presentation.
    Can you generate this using a tabular form? I double. I tried, using the Wizard. You can only select 1 table when building this tabular form. However, you can get the SQL script using the SQL Command processor.
    (2). The dilemma: We want reports for presenters and presentations o be displayed on separate pages. Here is where it gets more tricky, maybe because I just stated with O HTML DB 2 months ago.
    My SUGGESTION to Oracle Developers: Can you make it possible to decide, when creating a region, to display it on a different page other than the one on which you generate the, say the report script? I think that depending on redirection creates confusion, and makes the tool less user-friendly. When you allow a developer to decide, at time of region creation to display the report on this page, or another page, you really create user-friendliness and increase application maintainability.
    (3). Buttons: Why has Oracle re-invented the wheel here? Is it possible, in the next release, to make it possible to have graphic insertion icons within a region (just like most tools we are used to do? This would save us a significant amount of time. Having to upload graphics 1 at a time, then include these in the app is time consuming (especially if one has many graphics).
    (4). How Tos: I do sincerely commend you guys on a fantastic job. However, we all (developers and Oracle Support team/Developers) must admit that the tool is still immature and there are many improvement opportunities. May I ask why is it that I crete a region now, code an SQL script. Everything works now. I backup the application. The next day, however, when I access the same app, what worked yesterday fails to work now! This has happened many times and it is pretty frustrating.
    The best books are those that provide good examples, but also show the result of each code (for instance). Many people learn faster when they look at a code, then see the result. Reading text like a history book, in the development context is taste-assassination.
    Do other experience this instability? If so, could you please share with me what you do? I suspect an application level "bug.
    Again, I know the product is new and really commend Oracle's team for a fantastic job.

    You can already receive picture messages on the phone. All the sender needs to do is put your email address in the TO field of their MMS client.

    Hey everybody!
    I bought a red 5310 last week and so far have been really happy with it. My previous phone was 5140, used it for a few years and was really happy with it...like I have been with all of my Nokia phones. Now I have a few questions regarding my new phone, these are more like me wondering if it can be done rather than something actually being wrong with the phone.
    1) Is there any way to use the wallpapers from the Nokia media player (like Sine waves, Vivid burst etc) as the theme background image for the phone? Do I have to download a theme editor to modify an existing theme to use a different background image? Where/how can I get the media player wallpaper files? Any recommendations on the software required to do this?
    2) Is there a way to make your phone connect to the internet via a pc? Yeah, the other way round =) I'm living abroad for some 5 more months and won't be having internet access for my phone (don't really need it for anything). Still there's a few things I'd like to try on it, so is there a way to relay my internet connection to the phone via Bluetooth or the usb cable?
    3) Is there a way to modify the sound volume +/- steps? Basically when you come up one step from mute, it's already quite loud, there's no middle ground between mute and average listening volume. The steps after the first two are too loud for listening inside. I'm using Sony MDR-818E earphones. Since the phone's internal speaker is quite worthless and can't see anyone seriously listening to music with it, I feel the volume steps should be geared towards headphones and therefore the steps should be much more subtle. At the moment I'm often left feeling I would've wanted to set the volume between two steps. Yeah, Nokia, if any of your people are reading this, please take note! It's a software thing, options could easily be added! It's a music phone after all and should be optimized for maximum listening comfort as far as cellphones go =)
    Anyway, so far I've listened to a couple of hours of music on it and the phone hasn't crashed or restarted or anything like that. Working perfectly fine. I'm using WMA audio 128kbps, as it's totally indistinguishable from the original cd source if you're not plugging in to some high end hi-fi equipment. Fortunately I've been ripping all my music into WMA since mp3-players held like 256mb and don't have to convert my files from MP3 for the phone =)

    Yes there is. If I got this right you want to download and upload data from and to your 5310 from the net. You can connect with a Bluetooth USB dongle, if your computer does not have any other bluetooth device. I bought my Prodige Bluetooth Dongle v2.0 from Verkkokauppa.com before I even got my phone. When BT is active the phone and the camera on the phone will be visible on the folder tree on your resourcemanager, if using WIN OS. The connection quality has been no less than good all times, when I've used my gismos.
    There were some connection problems, when the previous version of Nokia PC Suite had only connections available by the type Nokia phones have or used to have. The radio buttons were on n/a state when trying to connect.
    The never V 6.85 has configuration setup to manage other installed devices that can connect the phone and PC. You can also connect Audio gateway from the Bluetooth objects and listen the music on the phone with your PC or laptop. I have SPDIF sent to 6.1 DigiAmp and most High-Q MP3- and AAC-files sound almost as if they were orginals on a CD for that matter.

    1) which of the following is relevant for delivery ; item category or sched line category and why. because both have a check button and what it is significance then.
    2) From where does item category usage comes and what is its significance.
    3)Shipping conditions are maintained for which partner function in customer master.
    4)Storage location is determined on the basis of storage condn, shipping point and plant. Then what is the use of storage location rules and how they are applied.
    5)When the pricing is done, is it applicable to header level or item level.
    6) What are group conditions and header conditions, in which one of these there is no access sequence. Could somebody give me a scenario in which we can use group condition and what are the configuration needs to be done for this.
    7) In consignment stock process there are 4 steps involved, which of them are not mandatory.

    Please donot post more questions in a single thread. If you post it separately, you will get many responses and detailed explanations from more members.
    Regarding your queries.,
    1. Relevant for delivery field in Item Category is for TEXT Items and for others you should configure the field in Schedule lines.
    3. Shipping conditions will be defaulted from the CMR of SP. If a value exists in the sales document type (eg. OR) then it will have priority and will replace the value defaulted from CMR.
    5. The pricing applies to Item Level only. But you cannot determine different procedures for different line items.
    6. Header conditions will not have access sequence and you cannot create condition records for header conditions in VK11.
    7. In consignment process - the first two steps are mandatory i.e., Consignment fillup and consignment issue.
    The other two steps are required only if there are returns from the customer(not consignee) and if there are any unsold stocks at the consignee.

  • A Few important Questions or suggestions!

    Well because ITunes is so popular I was wondering why i am having these problems, but maybe its just a ITune thing.
    Problem 1:
    I have folder where i put all my mp3 in. If i put a new mp3 in the folder why dosnt ITunes automatically look for any new mp3 everytime it starts?
    Problem 2:
    If my bro got mp3 on his ITunes and he is sharing his folder can you just look at his mp3 drag it to your libary and the mp3 goes straight on your computer?
    Problem 3:
    Everytime there is a new update you have to download the whole thing which is 30mb isnt there a update program where it only installs the updated files needed?
    Problem 4:
    When watching movies I find the audio video is out. The voices are about 1/2sec to slow?

    Depends on the type of the movie you're watching, mainly, but you can try fiddling with the audio and video settings in the Quicktime Control Panel. Best way to test this sort of thing is to manually load the video into the Quicktime player and then fiddle with the settings there. iTunes uses Quicktime for all playback, so any settings you change in Quicktime get automatically used by iTunes as well.
    And sometimes, the video files themselves are just out of sync. Try playing them using the VLC player from videolan.org. See how they play there to get an idea of whether or not the specific video is the actual problem.

       we are implementing mySAP 05 from  scratch , please suggest if we should define business area and if we can use them wihtout flaging it at the company code level. is it beeter to just rely on profit center and acitvate it required for all accocunts instead of using business areas, we are trying to avoid using BA's actaully so really need good advice if the same functionaluty can be captured by pca and how can it be acheieved.

    I suggest that you should go with Profit Center Accounting and not Business Areas. As you are implementing from scratch I suggest that you use New GL where the functionality of segment accounting / Leading ledger and other ledgers are quite good and will be helpful.
    Some of the OSS Notes which you can refer are 826357, 1018065. There is alkso a specific OSS note which distinguishes Profit Center Accounting and Business Areas. I will let you know the Note number once I trace it.

    This has been covered a couple of times already on the list.
    Basically this is a bug. You have changed the SYS password and
    the password file is no longer in synch with the actuall RDBMS
    password. The instance crashes when connecting now as sys via
    session shell. To fix it do the following:
    - change init.ora to use an Exclusive or None password file, eg
    remote_password_file=exclusive
    - restart the database
    - execute:
    alter user sys identified by <the-new-password>
    You can then go back to the way you were, this will force the
    password file to get it's value synchronized back with the RDBMS.
    This is fixed in 8.1.6.x (or so they say :)

  • NAS Question and Suggestions

    Current Configuration:
    iMac 2.8 Intel Core Duo running Lion OSX (yes I regret that)
    2 iOmega 4TB HD's (iTunes Libraries) connected to a 1TB Time Machine BU Drive which is directly connected to my iMac via FIREWIRE 800.
    One of my 4TB drives is already full and the other is over half way. I have started looking at other storage options since the 4TB drives seem to be the biggest for direct connection drives out there.
    I have read all the horror stories about NAS' and Lion so obviously I will wait a bit before I make the trasition but in the meantime:
    I know next to nothing about NAS' so...
    I remember reading an old article that mentioned restrictions on file sizes and naming conventions on NAS' - Is this true or am I not remembering things correctly? I have 6+GB files so this would be an issue.
    Current plan is to connect this via my Airport Extreme Base Station via Ethernet is that the best way to go?
    When the manufacturer says it can support 3GB drives does that ever go up without getting a new unit (i.e. if 5GB drives become common place) would that be something a software or firmware update could fix or is that something really limited by physical limitations like cooling capacity?
    Also read a lot of horror stories about drive compatabilites with NAS' is that still a common problem or have things become more standardized?
    Is there such a thing as too big of an NAS? I have been leaning towards the Lacie 5big Network 2  but am wondering it having one single larger NAS is a bad idea and instead going with a couple of smaller units.
    I read this post: Best NAS for mac? The Synology mentioned is curious but I don't bitorrent or any of that stuff so it seemed like a lot of stuff I really don't need plus the max size at 12GB isn't great I am not concerned about backups as I do that onto blu-ray discs.
    Any suggestions or pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

    I think the Lacies are fine. 10TB or the 15TB model is more than enough in my case.
    Speaking from experience, have you looked at the QNAP 5 bays models or Synology 5 bays models? I generally stick with those 2 brands when it comes to NAS.

    I did install your browser on XP pro as administarator. I did allow to my firewall all protocol's that it need to browse. But i can't use it on limited user. This limited account is my default system account on XP. An administrator i am using for configuration, installation and unistallation only.The big problem that safary can't browse to any page on limited user.
    So, why i need browser that can't reach any web-site ? Very secure- yes, useful - no
    More about security: i didn't find any extention/plagin for full contol on scripts on each page(like NoScript in firefox), cookies( coockiesafe in firefox), refferer (refcontrol in firefox)on each site ,SecureLogin (in firefox)
    Other things that i didn't find :
    online translator for different languages,spell check for other languages, advertisement blocking on sites and google, bookmarks recorder.
    Suggestions: if you want really that safary will be the best browser in the world :
    1.enable running on limited user
    2.full support for firefox extensions( at least those, that i did mention )

    Put Safari v. 3.1 on a PC. Never used a Mac so I know nothing about its OS or appearance. Been looking over these posts and cannot figure out if I am lacking features that did not install or if features are not available in Safari.
    One example (there are many), the address bar has no pull down arrow to access already entered URLs. Is this normal?
    One other annoyance, with FF or IE, once I've visited a URL that requires an ID/Pass (or other data box entry), when I return, typing in the first character calls up the ID and loads the Pass, or performs similarly with any data entry. Not Safari: always got to retype the entire string. This normal?
    I guess my problem is not knowing if Apple's description of Safari's features on v. 3.1 are identical in the Mac as well as the PC.
    By the way, I am trying Safari because FF (which I have been using for at least three years) is slowing to a crawl - even in Safe Mode with all extensions disabled. Safari far exceeds FF speed but, then too, Safari seems to be a skeleton of a browser.

    Firstly I'd like to say that I've already looked through all the knowledge base and web forum and unfortunately I haven't found out the answers for my doubts (sorry if there are these answers I couldn't find), so I'm here.
    . Is there any way Zen Micro could display polish diacritic marks (from id tags)?(e.g. polish "l" with line/accent is never displayed, "z" with dot/accent is shown up as square)
    2. You advise to plug AC adapter to Zen Micro first and then to the wall socket, so is it the same way I should do with usb cable? I mean, when I plug my ZM to the usb cable already connected to PC, it will be ok? So, is it any difference in usb connection order?
    3. Is it possible to include in new firmware more sensiti've FM radio, at least change 00 kHz step to 50 kHz step? On the air where I li've there are a dozen or so radio stations and I could find only a few of them :-/ (yes, I have read "How to improve FM Radio reception" in the knowledge base )
    4. Is it any possibility to reset the "play count" in Zen Micro? If no, maybe it will be in the new firmware? (it would be a great option)
    5. What's about the "look up artist" function? I think it doesn't work properly. It should return all albums of this artist, not only currently played!
    6. In the mp3 format (ID3 v2 tag) we can set our own genre name. Why doesn't Zen Micro show that?

  • Playlist Question(or Suggestion)

    I have a playlist called "Best Of The Best". I want this playlist on both my iPod and my iTunes Library. I made a smart playlist and based on off the other, but while all the songs of the playlist are there, the order is not restored. Is there a way to do this so that the smart playlist is updated if I update the original AND the order of songs is the same.
    (Reason why I have to do this...)
    I'm using a MacBook, two iPods, setting it up so I can use both of them on this by only updating certain playlists to certain iPods, ect.
    I have a 20GB and a 2GB Nano. I can store all of my music on the iPod, and only some on the Nano. So I want certain playlists on one and not the other, but I would like to only have to update my iTunes playlists and have the Smart Playlists updated off of that. I get that to work, just not the order of songs to work. Anyone have any suggesions?
    IF NOT, APPLE, MAKE THIS POSSIBLE IN THE NEAR FUTURE. I CAN'T IMAGINE IT BEING THAT HARD TO IMPLEMENT.

  • Late 2008 macbook 13" prompts mac OS can not be installed on this computer after booting from disc as l get the folder with the question mark screen. New HDD or ?

    From the little research l have done, l have been convinced l may be having a dead hard drive though after having tried all the other troubleshooting tips found here, when trying to boot l get the grey screen and folder with the question mark suggesting it can not find the files neccessary to boot hence l tried booting with the disc and the message l get is that mac OS X can not be installed on this computer, though after doing the hardware check etc they all say okay. I've even tried erasing the drive and trying to instal the OS afresh with no luck. Any ideas or l must just get a new hard drive?

    Pretty sure BGreg hit the nail on the head. If your hard drive was failing, you would still be able to at least attempt an install, provided your ard drive was mounting. You usually get that message when the disk is incompatible with the computer. If it is the proper disk, you might try erasing the disk (provided your info is backed up) using Disk Utility (under Utilities in the menubar) and choose the Mac OSX Extended (Journaled) format.

  • Total ink weight for fabrics or suggested color profile.

    My client's approved their project and I now have some tradeshow pop-up panels to "convert to CMYK" that will be printed on [some stretchy unknown] fabric. I was wondering if anyone knows the total ink weight for the [stretchy] textiles used for tradeshows or if there is a suggested color profile to use during conversion (or if the real printers actually want this... I had seen that some textile printers actually prefer LAB). In the past I took a guess and used Web Offset Coated and it came out "okay" on Tyvek where something was printed locally, but these are a "stretchy fabric," so I'm guessing something like Web Offset Uncoated? I know the inkjet printers are capable of outputting a lot of ink and do not want the fabric to run or visually bleed though, also I wasn't sure if the tradeshow fabrics are printed with the typical oversized inkjet printers at all.
    The "print vendor" (middleman) told me emphatically CMYK conversion was a must, but seemed confused by the question of suggested color profile for converting and could not provide an answer. Unfortunately they're in a deal with my client and the producer of the booth so I'm stuck with them. Also they have not provide the contact info for the producer of the booth. I'd rather not use uncoated because I know there will be a significant loss of vibrance in the printing. So I come to the plethora of knowledge here at Adobe.

    Okay so I received more feedback from my client. When they were pitched it sounds like the vendor is going to print with Dye Sub. I'm thinking the middleman might not know what he's talking about (since they couldn't tell me which CMYK) so to be safe I'm going to provide the files in RGB (Adobe 1998) AND CMYK (U.S. Web Offset Coated SWOP). That way they can pick and choose. I got U.S. Web Offset Coated as a suggestion off a search for CMYK conversion and Dye Sub on large format printers. Hope this helps someone.
