Few LONG questions unanswered.

I was given quite some questions and need help with some of the questions.Lemme post them help? The main thing is i need the code for to make the answer appear.
1.       What’s Your Excuse?
      Write a program that helps students come up with excuses for coming late to school.         The program should prompt the user to enter the following information:
·         Number of minutes late
·         Level of problem
·         What problem you had
·         Which class you missed
·         What type of transport to school
            After the user has entered these items, the program should display the following    excuse, inserting the user’s input into the appropriate locations:
                        I was NUMMINUTES today because I had a LEVEL problem with                                  SOMETHING. This problem really made me totally forget about your                               CLASS today. And, then when I left my home it only became worse. I missed                   my TRANSPORT. Then, the TRANSPORT I got in was so slow today. Sorry
                        about that.
2.       How Fast?
            A guy is training for the triathlon. Every triathlon has three parts: a swim, a bike ride,        and a run. The triathlon for this problem has a 1.5 km swim, a 40 km bicycle ride, and       a 10 km run. Write a program to ask the user to enter, in hours, the following information:
·         The time to do the 1.5 km swim
·         The time to do the 40 km bicycle run
·         The time to do the 10 km run
            Then, the program should print as output the following information:
·         The rate at which he did the swim ( km / min)
·         The rate at which he did the bicycle run ( km / min)
·         The rate at which he did the run (km / min)
·         The total time he took for all three parts of the triathlon (in minutes)
3.       Guess The Card!
Can you correctly guess the card the computer is holding in its hand? I will give you one chance!
In this game the computer will randomly pick a card from 1 to 52 (e.g. 4 of diamond). If the card is between 1 and 13, inclusive, then it is a “club”. If the card is between 14 and 26, inclusive, then it is a “diamond”. If the card is between 27 and 39, inclusive, then it is a “heart”. If the card is between 40 and 52, inclusive, then it is a “spade”.
Write a program to ask the computer to pick one card at random (e.g. Jack of Spade). Then, the player should be asked to enter two values: the type of the card (i.e. Club, Diamond, Heart, or Spade) and the number (1 to 13). If they both match the card picked by the computer, the player wins and the displays the message “Correct! You Guessed It!” Otherwise the player loses and displays the message “Sorry! You Guessed Wrong!”
You assume the order of the 13 cards for each type as follows: Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, Jack, Queen, and King.
Note that you are not supposed to use any loops for this problem. (Hint: To have the computer roll a dice randomly, use the appropriate random number generation function)

Question unanswered about enabling JavaScript

There was a question/response about enabling/disabling JavaScript by using "about:config"
Another question in the responses added another question, which I also have:
"Despite my Javascript for Firefox 23 being "enabled" ( I checked re the "about:config" steps above), some websites are still asking me to enable my Javascript to view content. "
I am now running NoScript which I know blocks JavaScript, but it was happening before I started NoScript.
I hope someone can answer that question now.

That message from website may be triggered by other add-ons or by bad script on the website that throws that message.

Trying again -- Question Unanswered

I tried asking this question once before and got no answer, so I'm trying again:
Home set up: Airport Extreme connected to cable modem. Three Airport Express boxes, two for music and one for a printer. One Powerbook 1.5 Ghz, one MacBook Pro 2.4 Ghz. Both computers running 10.4.10. Interference Robustness is checked.
I put the two computers on a kitchen table about thirty feet from the Airport Extreme, with no obstructions or walls in between. MacBook Pro gets solid 4 bars. Powerbook gets 2, then one, then nothing.
Take the Powerbook away to another part of the house. It goes to four bars.
Is the MacBook Pro interfering with the Powerbook's reception?
If so, what I do about this? This didn't happen until I got the MacBook Pro.
(Now the MacBook Pro is running Leopard. Same problem exists with the Powerbook G4, which is running 10.4.10. Additional detail: Airport Client Utility on the Powerbook shows signal strength and noise to be almost identical, and both in the low part of the graph. Tried eliminating sources of interference, but nothing changed on signal strength or noise.)

... and if you leave the two laptops next to each other, but turn off the MBP does the signal to the PowerBook improve? Although anything is possible, I doubt that the MBP is cause of the signal loss to the PowerBook.
Airport Client Utility on the Powerbook shows signal strength and noise to be almost identical, and both in the low part of the graph.
I suggest downloading a copy of iStumbler. Use iStumbler's Inspector feature (select Edit > Inspector from iStumbler's menu) to determine the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) at different points around your house, by performing a simple RF site survey. Within the Inspector, note the values for "signal" & "noise" at these locations. Start with your PowerBook near the base station, note the readings, and then, choose the locations where you will typically use your PowerBook to access the Internet.
SNR is the signal level (in dBm) minus the noise level (in dBm). For example, a signal level of -53dBm measured near an access point and typical noise level of -90dBm yields a SNR of 37dB, a healthy value for wireless LANs.
The SNR, as measured from the PowerBook, decreases as the range to the base station increases because of applicable free space loss. Also an increase in RF interference from microwave ovens and cordless phones, which increases the noise level, also decreases SNR.
SNR Guideline
o 40dB+ SNR = Excellent signal
o 25dB to 40dB SNR = Very good signal
o 15dB to 25dB SNR = Low signal
o 10dB to 15dB SNR = Very low signal
o 5dB to 10dB SNR = No signal
If the SNR is 20dB+ at each of these locations, then you should be getting reasonable performance from your AirPort. If less, either try to locate the source of the Wi-Fi interference or try relocating either the base station or the wireless clients until they are within a 20dB SNR range.

Configuring Call Pickup and Busy Lamp Field - SIMPLE QUESTION UNANSWERED

In configuring BLF do I need to declare a station name ? The name should be only one at the entire network or could double if the ext/ usr is different ?
c. Enter the following string in the Extended Function field:

Using the following syntax:
fnc=type;sub=stationname@$PROXY;ext=extension#@$PROXY
where:
- fnc: function
- blf: busy lamp field

Hi Jerry,
The second button option is the only way I can see this working because the BLF feature is only meant to monitor Busy/Idle Directed call park slots and does not have the access prefix assigned. For example;
User A has a directed call park slot 88 assigned to him/her as a button on the BLF.So when they use this feature they are really speed dialling 88.
When someone wants to retrieve this call that was parked by User A they must dial the directed call park prefix that you set up (example 21) plus 88 (2188).
When User A tries to retrieve the call by pressing the same button they originally used they are really dialling 88 again and thus get the"call park slot unavailable" message.
You would need to setup a second button with the 2188 prefix+park slot for this to work properly.
Here is an excerpt from the documentation;
"User cannot retrieve parked calls. After dialing the directed call park number to retrieve a parked call, the user receives a busy tone, and the IP phone displays the message, Park Slot Unavailable.
Ensure that the user dials the retrieval prefix followed by the directed call park number."

Authorization questions PFCG...

Hi Guys
A Couple of questions...
We are upgrading from an older version of CRM without WEB UI to 7.0, we have composite roles on all our user, i.e. more than 1 role per user. As I have understood it you only have the possibility to assign on PFCG ROLE ID to a specific Business Role in the WEBGUI.
I know how to set up the business roles etc, these questions are more "how did they intend it to work"...
1. Overall Question, How should we use this PFCG role?
2. I have heard that you can leave it blank, what does this mean, that it the users authorization is as before i.e. as defined with the multiple composite roles stored directly on the user?
3. How does this PFCG Role on the Business Role work together with the PFCG Roles you have on the users directly? What is the meaning of the PFCG ROLE on the business role in relation to the ones on the user?
4. Should we delete the roles on the users and add them directly on the business role, we might have a problem there as many users work as "SALESPRO" but they have different authorizations, some are more senior than others. Would we then have to have several busines roles (SALESPROJR,SALESPROSR etc) as we can only have 1:1 between business role and pfcg role id.
5. What we would like to have basically is 2 or 3 Business roles that sets the layout and basic worksets, the authorization should behave as before per user not per business role.
Any relevant input on these questions will be greatly rewarded.

Thanks, Very Grateful for your comments but I think we have to be abit more specific. I will try to clarify
I understand how the standard roles work together with the standard PFCG ROLE IDs assigned to them. However we already have a structure for our authorization roles that is on user level via su01 and each user has several composite roles. To merge these roles into one PFCG role and assign it to a business role is unrealistic, this will create too many business roles for the user as there can be only a 1:1 relation between a Business role and PFCG ROLE assigned to the business role.
With that said I have been recommended to leave the PFCG ROLE id on the business role blank, this will lead to that the authorization on the user level kicks in.
However this raises some additional questions...
1 The authorizations in our old CRM system could not possibly cover the authorizations in the WEB GUI as we don't have a   WEBGUI today so are there any special authorizations we need to setup for the WEBGUI itself. Example: Lets say that in the old CRM system the user had authorization to create a service order. If the user keeps this authorization on su01 do we need to add any additional authorizations on the user or to the business role so he can access the workset and trigger create service order from the WEBGUI?
2 IF we had both a PFCG ROLE ID assigned to the Business Role and Composite roles directly on the user which one will actually be used? Will they both be used? What happens if the authorization on the Business role says "NO" and the authorization on su01 says "YES" Or is it really as it is stated above answer that if we specify a PFCG ROLE ID on the business role this will be used and nothing else?
3 What about our own authorization objects, is there a way to scan these and see if they are valid for CRM 7.0? How should we go about verifying our old authorizations in the new 7.0 system? Is there a report you can run? I guess also that some authorizations are not valid anymore, or how does the authorizations per transaction work. I mean we have in our roles added certain transactions, people will no longer use CRMD_ORDER how does this translate to the webgui?
4 We are using the salesorg structure today and the plan is based on what we know so far to assign business roles to the positions and not to assign a PFCG ROLE id at all to business role. Can anyone see any problems with this?
5 What is UIU_COMP is that a new auth object? What new auth objects are delivered in webgui?
Again thanks for any input on the above. Perhaps more people will be interested if we make this investigation thorough.

How to make a question slide impossible to pass if unaswered

Hi
I am using captivate 7 trail, and soon will buy the full version if this feature is possible inside captivate.
I am building a quiz, and I want the user to first, answer, see if he was right, and then go to the next question. I don't want the user to have the possibility to leave any question unanswered.
In evere question slide there is a "next" button, and a "submit" button. The user can go back or forward and skip questions. Is there a way to keep the user in this question slide untill answered, or hide the "back" and "next" buttons" untill the questions is answered.
This is really important for the way I'm using Captivae and it's a big deal breaker for us.
Any help will be appreciated.

Michael, it was not mentioned, but that Next button is necessary if Preview will be included. That Next button is a Skip button during the Quiz, but needed during Review. You can also play with the stack order and hide the Next button under the Clear button.

How to get total value from checkbox list?

I have a list of checkbox items - all number values. I want to then get the total value from all of the check items and add that value to the database. Can this be done?
Also, anyone know of one source where I can get detailed information on how to best use Web Apps and all of it's possibilities and limitations? Most of the tutorials that I have seen so far say that you can do most anything with Web Apps; however, the tutorial examples leave a lot of questions unanswered. I saw that Adobe has an article that shows how to build a basic web app and that it is "part 1" in a series. Anyone know where to find parts 2, 3, etc?

How can I add to an existing path using the pencil tool?

This probably seems like a rather elementary question, but
whenever I draw a path using the pencil tool, reselect it,
hover over the endpoint, and the click and drag to extend
the line off into a different direction, Illustrator will often
(but not always) erase the existing path and leave only the
new one that I drew.
To wit:
In step 1 above, I draw a line with the Pencil tool.
In step 2 above, I reselect the line from step 1, hover over the endpoint, and then continue to draw further.
However, as can be seen in step 3, the line from step 1 disappears after I draw the new path.
I am aware of the pencil setting, "Edit selected paths", and I have checked it to edit selected paths
within 12 pixels for the above example. What I am doing in the above example, and what I
want to do, is to be able to add more paths onto an existing one using the pencil tool,
rather than have a completely new path being drawn every time I lift up my pen to finish
drawing the previous path.
I also realize that I can do this with the pen tool; but the pen tool is a more
precise tool (and somewhat more cumbersome), and I prefer to have more
of the rough-handed look from time to time.
Finally, I also know that I can use the direct selection tool to select endpoints
from two different paths and then join them using the join command;
but this seems to be more trouble than it's worth in many cases, especially
if I want to do it frequently for a more long and complicated line.
Am I expecting too much out of Illustrator?
Is my idea of how to use the existing tools wrong in this case?
Is there some piece of knowledge I'm missing?
I'm on Illustrator CS5, Mac OS X 10.6.8, using a Wacom Intuos4 tablet.
However, I have confirmed the above on Illustrator CS4 for Mac as well.
Any help or comments would be much appreciated.

Thanks @rcraighead - the Live Paint process seems a bit overkill for simply adding
a new path onto an existing pencil path, but I did try the first idea you suggested,
which was tracing a bit over the last part of the existing path and then continuing
on to extend the path. It's a bit imprecise because the existing path gets slightly
modified, but it seems to work pretty well all in all. Nice idea indeed - thanks a million.
I also found that in AI CS5, I can use the selection tool to select all of the paths
in this case and then join them using the join command. I thought I needed to
select individual anchor points for this to work, but it actually works really
well, better than I thought. I seem to recall that previous versions of Illustrator
were a lot more picky with the Join command, but then again this might just
have been my lack of understanding.
I'm curious to know what other solutions to the above problem that other users
might have, so I will leave this question unanswered for a bit...
but I will use your initial technique described - it seems to work
pretty well, in absence of other options Many thanks again for your timely help.

Packing data at delivery user exit or BADI time

I create a delivery and enter associated packing data (handling units HU), then save the delivery. At user exit time, the delivery header is available via XLIKP and the delivery items are available via XLIPS tables, but the packing data is not!
Now, program SAPMV50A has a table called CVEKP, whose structure is VEKPVB, the handling unit header, but this table is always empty.
I thought I had a solution: instead of putting my custom logic in user exit MV50AFZ1, I tested putting my logic in the "Delivery Publish" BADI. Supposedly, this one is executed after the commit work, and so I could then read table VEKP directly and get the handling units. No such luck! Unfortunately, at the time the BADI is executed, the VEKP table may or may not be updated. Even adding the WAIT option wasn't 100% effective.
But these attempted workarounds still leaves the big question unanswered: "Where are the handling units data stored during execution of transaction VL01 or VL02"?
Anybody know?

File sharing no longer works after upgrading from 10.3.9 to Leopard

I'm trying to do file sharing on my PowerMac G5 with my MacBook Pro. The problem is when I try to connect to the G5 I get no response.
Powermac G5 was just upgraded from 10.3.9 to Leopard 10.5.6 (clean install, then used Migration Assistant to copy over files). File sharing worked fine on 10.3.9 until I upgraded the G5 to Leopard (the MBP has had Leopard for several months).
MacBook Pro is running 10.5.4.
From the Finder I select Go->Connect to Server. I select "browse", and the window that opens shows my G5 in the list (it's the only one). I double-click on my G5 and near the top of the window it shows "Connecting..." with the little spinner at the bottom right of the window, but that is as far as it gets. Just no response after that.
I tried to Ping the G5 but got no response.
At first I was trying this wirelessly through my Zoom DSL modem, but to troubleshoot I hooked up the two computers directly with an Ethernet cable but got the same result. No response from the G5.
I have File Sharing turned on in the G5's System Preferences. All 5 users have as least their write box shared. I've even set up a separate shared folder in one account.
Please, if you have any ideas please let me know. I'm stuck.

Wow. 64 views and not a single reply. I found a workaround, but I can't explain it so I'm going to keep this question unanswered for now.
I had the firewall on the G5 set to "allow only essential services", and file sharing was listed but still not working. However, if I change the firewall on the G5 to "Set access for specific services and applications" file sharing would work. I could sit there and toggle back and forth between the two settings and watch file sharing alternately work and then fail depending on the setting.
Weird.

Network Storage (SAN or NAS) or Terminal Use for VideoEdit

Hi @ All,
I am in a IT-Project and we are planing to change from Final Cut pro (Mac) on Adobe Premiere Pro (Prod.Suite) 6 on Windows Clients.
We have following Situation:
- My VideoEdit department will be outsourced and the distance is up to 1-2 km away from my technical and Server department
- I have minimum 3 editors (3 Clients) and some external editors
- I have a 1Gbit Connection between this two departments
- All storage is placed and backuped in the technical department
- Due to DataSecurity it is not allowed to have a local storage in the VideoEdit dept
- the storage amount we need is about 21TB
The Questions I have are:
- is the 1Gbit between bouth dept. enough?
- is SAN over 1Gbit (without FibreChannel) sufficient enough?
- is NAS performance over 1Gbit enough?
- is remote work over something like citrix or remote-desktop (Hardware will be attached direct to the storage) possible and sufficient enough?
I asked our Storage specialist for a possible solution and he was telling me something about Adobe AnyWhere but as far as I can see, this is something like working over a cloud or something like working on a terminal server. The next point is, that the release of Adobe AnyWhere is planned in 2013 but there is no detailed information about it.
Hope that some experts over here can help me to find a great practicable solution.

1 - is the 1Gbit between bouth dept. enough?
Not for editing over (reading), but certainly for copying files. The problems will be as vast as the number of formats (and their associated bit rates) you'll need to edit.
2 - is SAN over 1Gbit (without FibreChannel) sufficient enough?
The performance won't be that much greater than that of a NAS. Ethernet has become pretty efficient, but the problem is as it has been - sustained throughput. If you were on 10Gb, the headroom would be far greater, of course, and more tolerant of throughput hills and valleys. If you can throttle everyone's connection to the switch, you might get away with this for a while, given the right SAN software.
3 - is NAS performance over 1Gb enough? Not reliably.
4 - remote access. No.
Adobe Anywhere has a lot of promise, but has yet to be delivered. Even then, the first shops to adopt will be taking a big risk. Why not keep the Macs, upgrade them to Mountain Lion, get a second-hand 4Gb fibre switch and install the Mac version of Adobe's software. A Mac mini can run as your MDC for the SAN and all of the Mountain Lion systems would have the SAN software license already installed.
If you are concerned about data security, be sure to sign on with a contractor who carries a $10M bond and has security clearance already in place. That kind of thing is SOP, really, for high security content development. And what could be more secure than sneakernet when moving files around? You are either being handed a losing deck, or you don't have the complete picuture just yet. I'd guess the latter.
Adobe Anywhere probably isn't the answer either. When you are dealing with secured data, the last thing you want to do is to introduce an untested, unproven piece of software. It might handle everything very well from a technical aspect. But how does it handle data security? Too many questions unanswered.
