Quick simple way to make something look isometric?

I'm working on a card game where I want to make my straight on designed cards look isometric. Does anyone have the quickest/simplest way to do this with the 3D tool in photoshop? I imagine it's something like Postcard, and then using the orthographic, with some angles set? I've had a try but can't get it right.

Quick, easy ways to make images look better?

What are the best ways to make images look a bit better? I shot my footage using a pretty bad camera, so quality already isn't the greatest, but what is the best way to make images look a bit more "movie-like"? The 3way color correstion is nothing for me, it's too hard to make images look good, they'll quickly turn too yellow or red, etc... Something to improve contrast maybe? Using Image Control: Brightness and contrast (bezier) doesn't seem to help much.

Now I don't know alot about image quality or color, but I think there is not enough contrast? It all looks very cold. Luckily, image quality isn't the most important thing in this project, but it would be nice to be able to touch it up a little bit.

Simple way to make streight curve

Is there any simple way to do a STREIGH CURVE (I add this especially to this image to show you - blue line) when we have that 2 points? Imagine that I have that vector picture below. And I select this two point (everything is round). I want now to click and have that path going streight (like blue line). How to do that automaticaly?

How can i make something look like it was embossed in PS?

I have a simple shape...a rectangle filled with a solid color. It is a separator bar on a poster. I want the top of the bar to have highlight and the bottom of the bar to be darkened. (As if I brought it into PS and applied an emboss filter)
I tried using a gradient and got ok results. Is there a better way to do this?

If you count me, now two people want to know how to emboss a simple shape or path in Ai. I already know how to do it in both Photoshop and Fireworks, both a piece of pie, but I (we) must be overlooking something astonishingly obvious in Illustrator.
Why not do it in Photoshop? Because the background from Ps comes along for the ride - even if it's transparent in Ps. And, unless I flatten the embossed path in Fw (converting it to bitmap from vector), the emboss doesn't paste into Ai, and then the background comes along...

I just switched to Firefox from IE. The fonts are a bit fuzzy, hard to read, in all applications, email, Facebook, websites, etc. Is there a way to make them look better?

Not much more to explain. I'm having trouble with the way things display in Firefox, they appear rather fuzzy, unclear.

Potentially Quick Question That May Make Me Look Silly

In the timeline, what does it mean when there's a large gray plus sign inside a gray square on a video clip?
We're trying to export the film as a Quicktime (DVCProHD 1080i60) and everytime it keeps telling me there's "no movie in file" as an error before it even gets to 1%. I've checked the timeline for missing media and unrendered clips and found nothing. The only variable left is that a few clips have these plus signs in the little gray squares in place of the thumbnail images that the other clips have on them.

I looked it up in finder as suggested, and the source clip that 82A-2 uses is there, it's listed as a "Final Cut Pro Movie" and it's 1.8gb. However, when I try to open it in Quicktime, it says "This is not a movie file."
Checked the other "plussed" clips in the timeline, same deal. Same propertires, all around 1gb or slightly bigger, and none of them open in Quicktime. What gives?
It's strange because the entire film will play perfectly from the timeline. But I can't export it at all. Attempting to reconnect the media does no good, either, since the original clips seem to not be movie files anymore, for some reason. Any idea what's happened here? And why it would happen to only some of the clips and not others?
In the source folder that the original clips are in, some of them won't open, giving that "not a movie file" message and won't even offer a preview image in Finder. But other clips are fine. Same with the Final Cut project. Most of the clips in the timeline are fine, but the ones with these "plus" signs on them, when I look up the source clip by doing "reveal in finder," they all are like the above example.

[SOLVED] Simple way to make files available for download on my site?

It is my intention to keep the previous version of the kernel available on my website. Every now & then it will be very helpful to someone, when they need it & can't get it anywhere.
Could someone please give me instructions on how you do this?
I have set up FileZilla, & can access my space, I have made the simplest of pages, & I have permission from my ISP, so long as I don't make money out of it, I don't have to pay for the bandwidth.

I have it up, it currently has two copies of the tiny app' backlight which gives screen brightness control to Mac users with LCD screens, the 2nd copy is just filling in for the kernel.

How do I make something spin?

For a site I'm creating I'm trying to figure out how to make
a double helix (DNA strand) spin as my navigation menu. I want to
make the DNA "sticks" the links. Is there a simple way to make a
helix spin (in appearance anyway), without having insane
render/load times for the user? I have 3d's Max if I need to use
it, but I've never attempted something like this before.

What you really need is to learn some 3D animation to get
what I believe you really want. You can get an introduction to this
via a tutorial found at:

It will be a challenge, so don't expect quick results, but do
expect some valuable skills to be acquired.
If you would settle for a flat 3D rotation simulation (like a
sign spinning around a vertical pole) then you could create a
movieclip containing the flat image and use an enterFrame event
handler to continuously change its scaleX property from -100% to
100 (and vice versa).

Trying to make accessories look realistic

How can I make these accessories look more believeable?
Obviously they aren't but is there a way to make them look so they are not that fake?
I tried using a drop shadow but that only helped a little.
I have other images where I need to add jewelry to real models so it would help to learn how to do this.

The direction of the Drop Shadow is important.
And sometimes a simple Drop Shadow is just not good enough because the structure being shadowed by an object may be much more complex than a flat surface.
In this case I would recommend to
• adjust the color of the objects with the appropriate Adjustment Layers to fit better into the background image,
• clip individual strands of hair from the background (or paint some) to partially overlap the edges of the objects and
• in the case of the hat to create fake shadows and lights (on separate Clipping Masked Layers) to simulate the lighting of the background image.

Simple motion animation - any way I can make this look better ?

I would like your thoughts and tips. I created a simple animation in AE CS3 that I am going to use in a video. I would like to know if there is anything you'd suggest I do to make it look better ? Would you suggest adding a horizontal blur during the motion portion and if so, what type of Blur in AE CS3 ? Thanks for any tips you can provide.

Commenting on just the motion, not the design I'd enable motion blur and maybe increase the shutter angle from the default of 180º to about 360º. I'd also put in an ease in and ease out. You could just select all the keyframes and press F9.
On the design, I'd try a gradient for the background and work a little on the typography so that it's a little more readable.

Looking for a way to make a photo less than 100kb

I have all the 'considered best' photo apps for my Ipad3. I've read every manual, looked on the net, downloaded any trial photo sizer app I can find and have spent hours trying to do what I believe should be a no brainier but have not found a resolution to a simple problem.
I'm trying to find a way to make a photo a specific MB size. I post on a bulletin board that has a restriction of 100MB upload. There is a great app for Mac but ways to make a photo a specific file size doesn't seem to be available for the Ipad. After hours of searching I'm at a loss as to why there aren't any apps to do this.
A simple app with a slider or other that will give you the MB size as you move it would be great. Every app has a plethora of options and they still can't even do that.
Any suggestions?

That will work taking a few steps although I would think it's a last resort with fair results. Thanks again. While waiting for a response I decided to bite the bullet and purchase an app that looked promising. ( Don't like to purchase as I've purchased a number of .99 apps and wasted money )
So, I purchased this app called 'Resizer' not knowing if it would do the trick. It did! I even got a bonus as the app lets you upload to a photo site. From there it's a simple paste the link and I'm done. The app appears to have been made for the purpose of posting photos to BB's which is what I'm doing.
I was trying to get as close to the max size as I could as they have a weekly 'photo day' and wanted the best quality. That app did it.

You can use the Dreamweaver FTP (or a different FTP client) to completely copy the original website to your development computer, then, before making changes, you can copy the whole thing to a directory called something like "website original"
If you want to run both the old and new sites on the remote server, this is often possible. Add a folder/directory to the server and call it something like "new" and upload the new files there until you are ready to replace the old site
All of this you can do with FTP

Best, Yet Quick, Way to Make Credits?

I've got all of the credits typed up for a play that I shot and my deadline is coming up soon. What's the best and quickest way to make credits? Making them in Final Cut has always resulted in a lot of flickering for me and LiveType doesn't give me that professional credit look. Is there another app out there that can do a decent job in a short amount of time or is there something I'm missing in Final Cut or LiveType? Thanks.

Use Photoshop. Start with one of the video templates that fits the pixel dimensions of your FCP Sequence. Extend the PSD canvas size vertically -doubling or tripling its height to make space for all your elements. Continue to extend downwards as and when needed.
When everything is in position, turn off the background, use Merge Visible to send your text and logos to one layer, export as TIFF with transparency enabled.
Bring that into FCP and use the Motion parameters to move it up the screen with just a start and end keyframe.

Assuming you do not have access to the "original" video/project and the YouTube video is the only copy, there is a method. Try "YouTube Downloader" which is a free software that allows you to download clips from YouTube as .mp4 files. You can then edit with Premiere, and re-encode again for upload to YouTube. Just keep in mind that you are re-compressing the video so there will be some quality loss. The better the quality of the original, the better the copy will hold up.
