QuickTime Conversion won't work

When I try to export using QuickTime Conversion, i get "File Error: Unknown File" and it will not let me export using Conversion. The bad thing is, I think I used to be able to use this. All of the sudden it has decided not to work. What am I missing?

Do you have any graphic files in your sequence? Are they cmyk? If so, that's probably the problem. Reimport RGB graphic files and replace them.
If that's not the problem...
Try exporting a small section of your timeline and see if that works. If so, keep trying to export sections until you find the problem. Deleting renders and rerendering is also a good thing to try.

this is probably the worst experience i've had trying to get support from Apple. nothing remotely resembling my problem is anywhere in the knowledge base. here's the deal...
i used broadcaster every week prior to upgrade without any problems...NOW...i am unable to "enable video stream" since upgrading to Tiger. All I can broadcast is audio.
I EVEN have AppleCare support for my computer but Apple still won't help me!!!! I spent all day on this and need it to work TOMORROW MORNING! didn't expect any problems since it worked fine before.

Okay....after a few more hours I decided to reinstall Quicktime Player and then re-enter my quicktime Pro registration key. Now it works. I'm still disappointed that Apple wouldn't help me with this though. Not the service I'm used to.
So...quicktime broadcaster users be advised of this need to reinstall quicktime after upgrading to Tiger. It wasn't just my g5 that was affected...I checked it out on my g4 powerbook and also had the same problem.

Hello - can anyone help please? I have upgraded my software to Quicktime 7 and purchased a registration code. When I enter it, there is no box to click enter and when I press the tab key, nothing happens? I spent £20 on the code and my videos still won't play? Can anyone help please?

It may sound silly, but i had an issue with my Quicktime Pro key (Quicktime 7) where the key was not accepted due to my not using capital letters on my first and last name. My iMac auto capitalized when I entered the info when i purchased the Pro key. Once I used the Capitals on my registration, my old key worked fine. Hope this helps.

Quicktime pro won't work on windows 7

Hi,
I've purchased/installed Quicktime Pro. There were no issues with installation or registration of the software. I'm unable to get Quicktime to play any of my saved movie files, .avi or .mov file. When I click on play the slider start to progress however, there is no video or audio.
I have installed the codec pack from the DivX site, this made no difference. When attempting to play a file there are no errors.
Any advice owuld be appreciated.

Quicktime Key won't work!

Hi,
I recently lost my quicktime key after having a new hard drive fitted. I requested it from apple and they e-mailed it to me. When I try and enter it on the registration section of quicktime it say's 'Invalid Registration'
Can anyone help at all?

The name must also match. Be sure to include a salutation (if used) or middle initial.
Older (version 6) keys will not work with version 7.

Quicktime conversion won't do any more ...

... but it did a day bevore. Using FCP 4.0, conversion proceeds to 100% then the window does not close ans FCP stays waiting, waiting, waiting .... Switching to the finder, the converted file exists but in an increadible big size (supposed 2,5 MB but is a couple GB!. Clip time is just 1'50. I checked the convert parameters, used different ones, used old project copies (from the time converson still worked and containing less complex composites), reinstalled the programm, set up a new user - no way.

Well, I updated in the meantime to QT 7.1.0 and 4.5 HD. Thanks again for your help - now the conversion have worked again.
But I still cannot reach the compression factor that was before. Same settings produce a compression that is about 10 times bigger than I used to get. Even changing the settings to higer compression has no essential influence to the result. Do you think its the same reasons? I will check for the rescue thing.

Quicktime Video won't work

I used Quicktime Pro 7.4 to export a video for my web site. I used the Read Me file to paste the code into my web page. I uploaded all of the files to my web site.
However, when I go online and click on the video, it doesn't play. Instead I get a big question mark. Can anyone look at my html code and tell me where I goofed? I have a hunch it's not code generated by QuickTime, but something else in the page.

http://jranieri.bmcsd.org/CauseEffect07.ppt-poster.jpg is the "poster" image and it works just fine. When clicked the code to get the "linked" file is used and that is where things fail.
I've tested your URL in other browsers and it fails in all. So the issue must be with the file (which you claim works).
Some other things to test:
How large in file size is the CauseEffect07.ppt.mov?
Are the other two files also found in that directory on your server?
The first QuickTime file is a reference movie and should measure in KB's. It "points" to one of the other QuickTime files based on the viewers Internet connection speed.

New to MAC and Quicktime player won't work

Let me begin with the fact I just converted to a Mac using the Snow Leapord 10.6.6. So I am still learning the ropes. When I click on my Quicktime player icon on my docking station nothing happens and the application never opens. Shouldn't it open? I am used to the PC when you click on the Q icon the player would load. If it is suppose to open the player how do I fix that, since the Quicktime 10 player came standard on my macbook pro? Hello - I have the same problem as Matt since upgrading to Snow Leopard.
My QT icon shows in the dock and the QT options are at the top of the page, but
none of my videos work, and QT was already in place when I purchased my iMac.
I've tried right-click and/or holding on the QT icon, but it doesn't give me the
option to "remove from dock". I can't remove the icon from the dock at all.
Any help would be gratefully received.

QuickTime just won't work

I have uninstalled, reinstalled, deleted files, repaired files, re-set my settings to default, and configured them. Nothing I do seems to fix my problems with QuickTime. I use both Firefox and Internet Explorer for my browsers. On Fire fox every time I visit a site that had Quicktime, I get a message saying "failed to initialize quicktime error #0 Please make sure that apple quicktime is properly installed on this system" Then I get another message saying The plug-in performed an illegal operation. You are strongly advised to restart Firefox.
On Internet Explorer, everytime I try to run a site with Quicktime, the browser just freezes making me have to shut it down. I've tried troubleshooting but when the directions says something about either seeing an icon, or a broken one, I see neither. I have Windows XP Professional and the latest updates for windows (I just checked) Please someone tell me, is there something I'm doing wrong or something I'm not doing at all?

I had problem with Quicktime recently, which I found was due to my firewall blocking Quicktime access. I allowed this in my firewall settings and all was well.

Help! Itunes & quicktime installed but won't work

Would someone please help?
I just got a ipod nano and installed the software from the cd that came with it, the installation installed ok and then when I went to click on itunes I get the following msg:
" Itunes requires quicktime to run, please reinstall itunes".
I have quicktime installed, and it still won't work.
I have tried removing all itunes & quicktime files and downloading again via the cd and directly from the website and still the same problem.
I'm really frustrated.

I've just got myself a new iMac, did a migration of all the stuff of my old Powerbook G4 and now Quicktime won't work!!
I had a Pro version of QT 7 but now it states I just have the free version! I did a software update and it told me to update QT, I tried but software update kept telling me that it cannot save the QT update. So in my frustration I deleted QT and decided to download it directly off the Apple site....it downloaded and then stated it can't mount the disk image...what on earth is going on, can anyone help?

Jesus Christ, how tedious. Can I just revert to a previous Firefox somewhere in the 3.xxx range where everything worked just fine? I am MacBook Pro laptop. Are you sure you're giving me mac instructions and not PC instructions? This looks more like a PC fix than a mac fix. The exact same problem is happening on my girlfriend's mac computers. I may have to go back to Safari which works just fine and plays the MP3s. This is a very bad happenstance if Firefox is so screwy that everyone has to do all the crap listed above just to get an MP3 to play. This is something Firefox should fix instead of having all Firefox users be confronted with such a glitch. Bad Firefox, Bad Firefox!!!!!
