Quicktime IE Plugin

I installed Itunes (for my wife's Ipod) and Quicktime was installed too. Now everytime I click on an MPEG video in my browser (IE6), Quicktime loads and plays the video. Quicktime loads slowly and then opens another browser window. How do I stop quicktime from playing imbedded MPEG files in IE6. I have gone through all the settings and disabled every file association and quicktime still always loads and plays MPEGs. I don't want quicktime on my computer, but I have to have it for Itunes. Is there any way to copy music to the Ipod without using Itunes? I uninstalled Quicktime which solved the problem, and now Itunes doesn't work. This is very frustrating.

Open an mpeg in QT Player and then open QT Preferences. Under Browser Plug-in there should be a MIME settings button. Click on that and you can specify multimedia formats , like mpg or avi, that QT should not try to open.

  • Quicktime Browser Plugin

Rewording my post to be Apple Mod friendly...
I accidently deleted my Quicktime 7 Browser Plugin and have no idea how to replace it.  When you try to reinstall Quicktime 7 it tells you Quicktime X is already installed and stops you from going any further.  2 years ago when Quicktime X was released it was stated that a plugin was on the way but low and behold... still no word.  So I need to know how to get the QT 7 Browser Plugin back on my computer, since a Quicktime X plugin is still unavailable 2 years later.
Thanks for taking the time to read,
    Cheers

Unfortunately that installer doesn't install the browser plugin.  I know where the plugin goes, if I could just find the file online that would work too... but haven't found anything.  Even tried going to Firefox's Plugin page but when you click the download link it redirects you to Apple's site for 7.6.9 which we know is not only the wrong version but incompatible with Snow Leopard's Quicktime X.
I'd be nice if they actually provided a Quicktime X plugin, but I'll take a Quicktime 7 plugin at this point... just something to be able to quicktime media in my browser.  At this point I can't watch Apple trailers or do anything that requires Quicktime for decoding.

  • Quicktime browser plugin problem.

I'm having a problem with the quicktime browser plugin in both Firefox and IE. Any time I open something using the plugin it plays, however the control bar (play, pause, volume etc) is displayed as a solid black bar with no visible controls. The bar still functions, you can click around until you find the play button for example.. but that gets old pretty fast. I'm currently using XP64 Pro, I've seen this problem mentioned by both Vista and XP64 users, and I've also seen people talking about having fixed the problem, but I have yet to find anything that works for me.
    Any ideas?

I did a Safari Reset of some of the items in Safari such as History, webpage previews, website data, etc. and the Quicktime plugin started working again.

  • How do I stop downloaded MP3s playing in the QuickTime Browser Plugin?

I have a number of websites created in Flash, which are used to promote musicians and bands in Bristol, UK. I use Flash because it allows animations, music players, background music, and all the other features ideal for promotional websites.
We offer MP3s for free download so our fans and followers can own some of our tracks.
Up until last week, a link directly to an MP3 would launch the "Save As..." download dialogue, allowing users to save the files to their PC.
However, since installing QuickTime 7, when you click on a link to an MP3 it now launches a nasty little embedded Quicktime player, which you can't save from or do anything useful with.
This is absolutely useless as I already have streaming audio and a built-in music player in my site, and I can now no longer offer MP3 downloads. I don't want to have to start zipping my MP3s or anything hideous like that, does anyone know a way that I can stop this happening?
I can't expect visitors to my sites to do anything, so I need some way of changing the URL so that it doesn't trigger the QT plugin.
Would really appreciate some assistance as this has effectively ruined the most significant part of most of our websites.
    Thanks

Ah, well, it was worth a try, but since you're clearly not actually reading my post - I'm using FLASH, as I clearly stated so you cannot right click.
As for the QT Mime settings, what you are saying is woefully inaccurate, and once again you aren't reading what I am writing. Quicktime is not the default player for MP3s on my PC. And as of two days ago there was no QT MP3 browser plugin either. I installed Quicktime because I have to have it to play MOV files.
By installing QT the program arbitrarily (that means it did it without any involvement or permission from me) took ownership of MP3s in the browser only. I know how MIME settings work, and I made absolutely sure that QT did not get it's hands on any of my filetypes. However, there is NOT an option to stop it playing MP3s in a browser, and it most definitely happened without my say so.
There clearly isn't an answer to this, I'll either have to put my MP3s in Zips or use some elaborate code to generate a nasty HTML page so that you can (retch) Right Click, Save As. All this because the QuickTime player has made changes that it had absolutely no right to.
Never mind, I'll find another way. But first, I'm uninstalling Quicktime forever.

  • QuickTime X plugins causing problems?

Still after trying to export videos from QuickTime X they appear as a black screen with no audio.
Could it be any of these plugins causing a problem?
    Plugins:
    AC3MovieImport
    AppleAVCIntraCodec
    AppleHDVCodec
    AppleIntermediateCodec
    AppleMPEG2Codec
    AppleProResCodec
    DivX Decoder
    DivX Encoder
    DVCPROHDCodec
    FCP Uncompressed 422
    IMXCodec
    MayaIFF
    Perian
I'm trying to export using QuickTime X presets with a variaty of different source files, but nothing uncommon.

So removing either Perian or DivX should resolve the problem?
It may or may not fix your particular problem—but, it would remove one possible source of conflict. Frankly, many people are experiencing "black" screen issues with the problem being blamed on everything from conflicts with installed hardware devices to issues with security updates to problems with FCP file output. Since you did not provide any work flow specifics, it is difficult to classify your particular problem.

  • Quicktime 7 plugin error

Anytime I try to view a webpage which uses Quicktime I'm getting a plugin error message saying "An error occurred inside a plug-in contained on this page". Then I click on the OK another message pops up after that saying "The plugin did not initialize properly" and of course Quicktime won't stream the video. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the latest Quicktime, no change at all. Anyone has any suggestions? I'm using the latest Internet Explorer 7. I didn't have this problem with IE6 before. Could that be the culprit? Any help would be much appreciated!

I started having the same errors "an error occured inside a plug in contained on this page" and then did the same thing and clicked okay and got the next error "The plug in did not initialize properly".
I recently downloaded Internet Explorer 7 and I had no problems with the quicktime video on any websites. Suddenly last night I started having problems. I thought about the last thing I did and it was downloadng an update for windows media, this seemed to deselect a file type option in the quicktime preferences.
I opened up the Quicktime preferences and chose the file types tab and selected MP3 - MPEG layer III movies and streams and selected apply and okay and restarted my computer and the video web pages that I could not get to work with quicktime are working fine now!

  • Quicktime needs plugin popup

Problem 1) Using firefox, when I open the first attachment of the day, this window pops up saying "Quicktime may need plugin". It gives the option of cancel or continue and when I continue it brings up the following screen. And yes, the new window is always in safari.
I have installed every plugin and yet it still pops up. What is really annoying is that it can be a file that has nothing to do with Quicktime, like a pdf or excel or word file.
Problem 2) Using Safari, the quicktime message pops up more often and randomly throughout the day. Same message. Same window.
I need to get rid of this pop up for good.

anyone find a solution for this?
The normal approach is to first check and see if your plug-ins and Java handlers are enabled. If they are, then compare your browser list of installed plug-ins against the specific content you are trying to view to ensure the proper plug-in is available and the source file extension is properly associated with the target MIME type content you are trying to access. This process is similar to matching of a system's QT component configuration against the compressed format in a particular file container for playback in the QT 7/X player apps.

  • Adding QuickTime Export plugin

    Dear All,
I like to include my custom QuickTime export component format to Compressor. The plugin installed at "/Library/QuickTime/my.component" and I can access it using FCP->Export->Using QuickTime conversion.
However this file format is not visible in "Compressor's custom settings ->(goto inspector) ->Encoder-> File Format:".
I like to know what is really meaning here ? Is this is not allowed (does only build in codec types are supported ?) or do I need use different plugin architecture than QuickTime Export Component ?
    Thank you in advance.
    NP

    Dear David,
Thanks for pointing different approach to the problem. I will look into droplets idea and see whether it will address all our user requirements.
So this mean I can safely conclude that, there is no way to add custom file format into Compressor ?
This will be interesting to know as Quick Time (7.6) is providing a such a interface when used with FCP's "Using QuickTime Conversion".In other words, now I have to verify that adding custom file format [ codec] via QuickTime export component architecture will not be supported in the future versions ?
Yet to check in QT X in Snow Leopard, which is said to be a major upgrade i.e.
"...QuickTime X is fundamentally different from previous versions, in that it is provided as a Cocoa (Objective-C) framework and breaks compatibility with the previous QuickTime 7 C-based APIs that were previously used ..." ref: wiki.
    Thanks and Best Regards,

  • How to find quicktime internet plugin

    Hi guys,
I have accidently deleted the Quicktime Plugin file under HD\ Library\ Internet Plug-Ins\ Quicktime.plugin.plugin.
Do you have any idea how I can restore this? Safari (5.1.7) Help\ Installed Plug-ins does not show Quicktime as one of the components.

Have you tried re-installing Quicktime? Download quicktime again and run the installer, the plugin should be installed again.

  • Quicktime 7 plugin has audio issues on a particular site

The issue I'm currently having is with the Quicktime 7.7.1 plugin for Firefox.  I use Firefox 12,  running on OS Lion, and this plugin has some sound issue with a particular site I like to visit.  When playing audio midis, it sounds tinny and plunky/compressed.  I did not have this problem before Lion, but the plugin does work fine on other sites.  I tried to delete the Quicktime app. thinking it somehow became corrupted, but I may be wrong.  I had my data transferred from my old mac to the new one I have now.  I don't know if that could have affected the QT plugin somehow or what.  Any suggestions or ideas?

AFAIK, that plugin is for QT X, not QT 7.

  • How do I disable quicktime's plugin in firefox??

Hi. I need to disable the quicktime plugin in firefox. I want to be able to download the goals from www.inter.it but to do this I have to have qiicktime's plugin disable. Before I installed quicktime 7 it was no problem I just clikc on the goal and freshdownload manager would intercept it now quicktime starts and uninstalling it doesn't work either. Now the browser asks for quicktime to be installed otherwise it won't open the goal. I tried to disable it by using options -> downloads -> view and edit actions. Set quick time move to save to disk . It didn't help the quicktime plugin still starts and I can't disable in quicktime preferences.
This doesn't happen on my dad's pc which has the exact same version of windows, quicktime and firefox. It also doesn't happen in IE. Reverting back to the previous quicktime also doesn't work. It work fine back then.
    Please help

Tried that. Also tried to force it to save to disk doesn't help seems quikctime overrides the browsers settings in firefox. Reinstalling quicktime 6 also doesn't help. And installing neither.

  • Quicktime MPEG2 Plugin - no audio playing VOB

I would really, really apreciate any help.
I have the latest MAC X on a macbook pro and minimac 1.86, both running latest version of QT7, not Pro. I installed the MPG2 plugin. I get video but no audio with VOB files. I was having the same problem with VLC on both machines, but I fix it changing the audio device from 0 to 1 on the preferences.
How can I get the QT to play it with audio?
I just want to play my ripped DVDs using the front row.
    TKS a lot

QT Player can play only M1A a.k.a. MP2 audio in
    MPEGs.
MPEG Streamclip can play also AC3 and PCM audio -- it
can also convert them to M1A audio that QT Player can
    understand.
Thank you, it is very helpful information, because at least Streamclip is universal binary! But... it is not an absolute solution, because Streamclip is a converter - so it converts video, so it takes a lot of processor time...
If it is just a QuickTime extension...
    However - Thanks!

  • How do I install just the Quicktime Browser plugin?

So I would like to just have the Internet Explorer Quicktime Addon installed without having
the full quicktime 7 installed. How would I go about doing that?
    Thank you in advance,

QTPlugin.ocx seems to be the add-on file itself. It doesn't appear to be asscociated with a Microsoft Installer msi on its own. Therefore I doubt can it can be just installed separately, without the entire QuickTime installed? You could pull QTPlugin.ocx out of C:\Program Files\QuickTime but then how functional would it be without the rest of the componentry of the entire QT install? And where would you put it?
Where the computer is Windows 7 it likely has Internet Explorer 11. Which seems to no longer support many plug-ins in favor of HTML5.

  • Referenced quicktime movies crash all www browser quicktime player plugins?

About a week ago I noticed all the referenced quicktime movies on my site began to crash my WWW browsers (chrome,firefox,safari,IE7) only on Windows 7 64-bit. On Mac OSX 10.6 & iPhone the movies played as expected. As soon as I stopped using the referenced movies, my Windows 7 browsers stopped crashing.
I'm using referenced movies so users are displayed a movie which is appropriate for their bandwidth and device.
Has anyone else run in to this issue recently?

I had the same experience recently. I wanted to watch videos on the Apple in Education page, and after clicking on the video it crashed Safari. I tried different browsers (Chrome, Firefox Opera) and had the same result.

  • Removing Quicktime Browser Plugin?

I recently installed the latest version of Itunes, which includes Quicktime 7.0.x. For certain uses, I prefer to use Real Player, not Quicktime. Specifically, in my web browser (Firefox or Explorer) many file types and links now result in the use of the Quicktime Plug-in, not Real Player, regardless of my settings.
How can I prevent this, or just simply remove the Quicktime plug-in?
    Thanks.

When you installed QT7 it asked if you wanted it to be the media player by default. So now a easy way would be to right click on a media file and go to properties, where it says opens with, choose program, browse, and make the change to the media player you want to handle those files.
