QuickTimePlayerX.plist issue... weird!

Hi forum.
I am having a very strange thing happening. Everytime I use QuickTime X to watch a movie, or record audio it spawns a new .plist file in /Library/Preferences.
They look like this "com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX.plist.XXXXXX"
(usually like iHk7VBl or other random mix).
There are hundreds filling up my preferences folder - its driving me nuts!
Any ideas?

Woo Hoo... there is now two of us, and yes my ByHost folder is full of them as well. Spot on play 60, spawn 60
I have spent days fiddling to no avail. I even drove down to the local Apple Store to sneak a peek and yes all of them had the same issue.
My wifes 2007 MacBook however does not have the issue???!!!! Snow Leopard install as well.
I am surprised that nobody seems to have noticed... maybe we dig too deep?
Leopard on my other Mac does not have the issue.
It appears to be a temporary .plist that writes to the main .plist when the app is closed, however it is not being deleted.
Lets hope 10.6.3 knocks it on the head... I have hundreds of the bloody things!

Is there a particular reason why you are using openjpaActually it's been added recenlty to the system as before it was using normal JDBC Code...
In stead of the persistence provider shipped with your JEE container anyway?Do you mean that i should use the Oracle Weblogic 10.3 persistence provider...?

Adobe Reader/Acrobat Printing Issues - Weird Fonts / Characters - all versions

Hi everybody.
I'm experiencing a very nasty issue with both adobe reader (last version) and acrobat.
When I print something with text, i get only strange characters, mostly symbols.
I cannot get out of this, I tried everything.
Already tried
1) print as image does not works, it's the same
2) the box in pdf printer " print only with fonts on pc" is checked
3) reinstalled both adobe applications
3) reinstalled printer drivers
4) i've installed and reinstalled those so called missing fonts but nothing
Next step is to change PDF reader. Any help?

It's weird how an application (company) like this could not provide those kind of such easy fixes. I'm not expecting updates or so, but at least a troubleshooting paragraph about this specific problem.
This problem is well known, there are plenty of pages talking about it.
I just installed Foxit reader and printed pages were perfect. This demonstrate's Adobe Reader/Acrobat fault.

Illustrator 18 Opacity Issues/Weird Behaviors

I recently downloaded and installed Illustrator 18 and am having some issues with the opacity options. I often use gradients and different opacity settings to create shading effects for objects, but these settings are behaving weird in Illustrator 18. I've attached an example. In this picture, you can see Illustrator 18 and Illustrator 17 side by side. The circles in both windows are the same base color. Each has an identical circle on top, colored with the default white/black gradient and the opacity set to overlay 100%. They're exactly the same in every way. Illustrator 17 looks how I would expect, but Illustrator 18 looks so different! I do have Astute Graphics plugins installed, but I really don't think these are the problem. Anyone else having this issue? Anyone know how to fix it?

I took a lot of stuff out of the report that is not relevant but i was wondering about the items marked in red. As EtreCheck was made to be used with this forum i'm hoping someone here has experience with the app and could shed some light on it.
com.apple.metadata.mdwrite.plist - From what i can tell this is where OS X stores metadata but i can't find anything else. Could this launch agent fail have anything to do with spotlight sometimes losing it's ability to do math (2384*3884 for example), a feature i use often
The processes marked in red are not an issue so i'm wondering why they are marked in red. Just because they use more than 500MB of RAM?

Thanks for the feedback res1233. Though reinstalling the OS is usually considered the simplest fix, it is often not. It is, however, the most invastive and one of the most time consuming.
I'll need a lot more info on the file, what controls it, what communicates to and from it and what the implications of deleting it are and what can cause it to malfunction. Then i need a decent amount of possible solutions. Once all fails, and the situation requires it, then maybe a reinstall.
Personally, a reinstall is always a last resort.

Logic pro 9 Instrument issues/ weird sound occurring!!

I need some help here, I think I have a big issues here with my logic instruments. I just installed Logic pro 9 about a week ago, it's working fine until...
today when I load some of the Logic instruments (such as EFM 1 Synth, ES2, ES2 syth, or any other sytnh) from the library, there're some kind of strange/weird sound, kind of growling synth sound going on (weeeewww gurrrrrrrrt!), the volume level is also peaking out because of it. I still could play the instruments, but the weird growling sound doesn't stop, & the volume peak out even more!. the only logic instruments that works fine are Evb3 tonewheel organ, Utrabeat & Ev88 Electric piano.
Same things happen with most of my ESX24 instruments ( such as pop horns, guitar, orchestral, etc) weird growling sound (wew grrrrt).
Does anyone know what's happening???

Yes, indeed the noise stop when I bypass the instrument.
Yes the noise seems to have a steady defined pitch & the character of the noise is the same as the affected instruments.
No I haven't try to load different presets at that time (it freaks me out already!)
No I don't think I've made any tweaks/ adaptation to the environment (could you give me example?).
*But Just now, at this moment, I just try to open & run my Logic 9 again & load the problematic instruments, The Noise's gone, I tried every instrument that has that noise problem (try different presets now) , it works fine, the noise gone (it surprise me). BUT STILL I'm afraid that this noise will occur again.

Desktop.plist Issue

I have a unchanging wallpaper issue.I found something.A man had written "delete desktop.plist and enter this code in Terminal.app".I did but this did not solve my problem likewise caused a problem.Now I haven't a desktop.plist folder and I couldn't solve the wallpaper problem.How can I solve this issue?

.plist issue in mountain lion

I was using these two API to set value in plist in lion 10.7.4
(1)::CFPreferencesSetValue(kPrefKeyRegistrationCancelled, value, kPrefAppName, kCFPreferencesAnyUser, kCFPreferencesCurrentHost);
(2)::CFPreferencesAppSynchronize(kPrefAppName);
the same impementation is not working in mountain lion (10.8) .
Just update me if there is any change in the implementation in max os x 10.8
I have seeen some new plist being create √è.plist in mac 10.8 and 10.7.5
which was not there in mac 10.7.4
and also the lockfile is missing in mac 10.8 which is there in mac 10.7

Neither Mountain Lion nor 10.7.5 have been released yet, and can't be discussed here - please use the appropriate developer forums that has been set up for this purpose.

JNDI issues - Weird things

i'm really confused right now, it's so weird, i just can't get it.
I use POJO business objects in a layer between my session fa�ades and my cmps.
I already have on use case working like this: the fa�ade doesn't make references to other ejbs (neither in ejb-jar.xml nor jboss.xml), as it delegates the work to a business POJO.
This is business POJO looks for a local interface in the following way.

I afirm/b]: The fa�ade which delegates to this POJO, which is the PartyIssuesBean, [b]does not have any reference in ejb-jar.xml and jboss.xml to the bean PartyHouseBean, the one i'm looking for in the above code.
So, today i was creating a new use case and build a very similar archicture -> a session fa�ade that delegates to a POJO.
I build a brand new session fa�ade that does not reference any other bean in ejb-jar.xml and jboss.xml. This fa�ade delegates to a POJO that, inside it's constructor, look for the following ejbs.

With that, i lookup works fine !!!!
In other words:
- When i lookup from this POJO for the PartyHouseBean (as in the code above) i do not need a reference to PartyHouseBean in ejb-jar.xml or jboss.xml for the fa�ade that uses this POJO.
- When i lookup from this POJO for the PartyNegotiationBean, it only works if a set a reference to PartyNegotiationBean in ejb-jar.xml and jboss.xml for the fa�ade that uses this POJO.
How weird is that????
I couldn't see any thing diferent between the code of PartyHouseBean and PartyNegotiationBean..., is there some kind of externalize????

But after you think about those guys that wrote JBoss this looks not so surprising after all.
but jokes aside.... I think you should always use ejb-local-ref when you invoke local EJB's.

Info.plist issues with Core Data

I created a new project, selecting to use Core Data. However, the info.plist does not include the standard iPhone project options like status bar style and icon gloss etc. I tried copying and pasting the status bar style key and value from another project's plist, but this has no effect.
Any help would be appreciated please.

Shine is added by Apple now. I get shine without a 'prerendered' key.
What SDK are you working with?

Keyboard issue - weird characters

Just did a complete erase and install. TM restored almost perfectly. EXCEPT..my ergonmic keyboard (Miscrosoft.. Apple please make a good ergonomic keyboard) when I try to cut and paste using keyboard shortcuts gives me weird characters instead..

Speaker Issue [Weird]

Alright I've had the phone since it was released, and from the start I was impressed with the quality and volume of the new speakers in the iPhone. Well I've noticed since yesterday the volume has decreased noticeably. I noticed this first while I was getting an incoming call, I then tested the volume again by playing some songs through the speaker and it was still noticeably low. Am I going to have to take the phone back and replace it with another one? I REALLY don't want to because for once I was struck with luck and was fortunate to walk out with an iPhone that has absolutely NO problems, the original iPhone put me through ****. I'm also loving how this phone has NO text problems at all, as far as sending/receiving goes. I've had 7 iPhones and every single one of them was horrible when it came to text, it would seem like the connection would be blocked while I was sending a text and block an incoming text. This was critical when I would be texting multiple people at the same time, I would end up only receiving one persons text, not receiving the others. This is NOT a problem on the iPhone 3G, at least MY phone it isn't.

Its highly unlikely you would get 7 iPhones with hardware issues. Issues related to sending and receiving SMS messages would not be related to hardware issues.
Is all audio quieter? Try downloading the free song of the day from iTunes and sync/play that on the iPhone.
Test without protective cases or other protectors that might cover the speaker.
Also, try resetting or restoring the iPhone.

T420i Graphics Card issue (weird pixels on screen)

I have a brand new T420i with Nvidia NVS4200M, i7 2670 QM, 8GB RAM, 128 SSD ( operating system and softwares) and a 500GB 7200RPM HDD. Also using Win7 64bit.
I use a View Sonic 2270VX IPS external monitor at 1080p resolution, with a displayport to HDMI cable.
The problem I have is, when browsing the web, using photoshop and Rhino ( CAD ), I get these weird colored pixels.

When I am only using a VGA cable, this doesn't happen. This doesn't happen on my laptop screen as well.
I updated my Nvidia driver to the latest on Lenovo's website ( version: 9.18.13.1100).
At first I was told that it could be the cable, but since I can make a screen cap of it, it shouldn't be just the cable or monitor. What else can I do to resolve this? It gets annoying because I do a lot of graphic related work.

Thanks Jin. I will have to try this and use it for a while to see which one is it. The weird pixels don't come out all the time. I will use one setting for a few days first to see how it performs. Right now, I am running on discrete card. At first the pixels came back but they are gone now, so I am not certain yet. Thanks again, I will come back with updates.

Burning Issue: Weird

OK: I have zero problems burning... except when I try to burn anything by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I've downloaded 3 songs and whenever I put those specific songs into a playlist, it freezes I Tunes when I try to burn it.
I can't convert the songs either - they're "Protected" - does that mean playback only?
I even tried deleting and redownloading the song - for an additional .$99 to no avail...
Any suggestions?

well, yes, but unfortunately it was from songs imported from a CD, and quite possibly i was using 4.7.1 at the time ...
