Quotes in options /etc/default/slapd

I want to start the openldap-server (slapd) on two of the four interfaces I have: eth1 and localhost. On the commandline you can start slapd with the option -h "ldap://127.0.0.1 ldap://192.168.1.1". The quotes surround all the options to the -h parameter.
With arch, I'm supposed to supply the options in /etc/defaults/slapd. There's the line:
SLAPD_OPTIONS=""
If I put the above options in there, I get an error message about ldap://192.168.1.1 not being a command. I tried to escape the quotes by putting a in front of 'm, but that didn't work either. Is there a way to do this?

I don't use this package, so this may not help, but I can assign the right value for SLAPD_OPTIONS on the command line like this:
$ SLAPD_OPTIONS="-h "ldap://127.0.0.1 ldap://192.168.1.1""
$ echo $SLAPD_OPTIONS
-h "ldap://127.0.0.1 ldap://192.168.1.1"

Questions on /etc/default/grub

i'm currently switching from syslinux to grub2 due to lack of support with xen and lvm/luks and just general information that i have a massive headache from googling for hours about.
anyways, i'm configuring grub very cautiously because i would prefer a simple reboot in opposition to having to stick a live cd in and unlock and mount all my partitions and do all this messy work.
is it possible to configure all options designating kernel, initrd, and kernel parameters from the "GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT" variable and its friends?
i know that i can configure grub.cfg by hand but i would much rather prefer to do it from /etc/default/grub
i use lvm on luks and i'm setting up my arch installation as a dom0
any help?

You don't need to specify the kernel and initrd if you are going to have grub generate the configuration automatically - just the kernel parameters.

When I click on the Moilla button on my desktop, the firefox start page that shows up has no Mozilla button to access print, history. options etc., it just says mozilla firefox start page at the top. rt page tc.

When I click on the Mozilla icon on my desktop, a mozilla firefox startpage come up that has NO mozilla button to click and access print, history, options etc. Also the whole page automatically shifts down slightly to show only google question box and no address bar. Also, there used to be a place where I could click on most accessed pages, but that disappeared a couple of weeks ago. I have an HP computer and never know what the start page will look like.

Did you recently upgrade Firefox? I would be willing to be that everything is still there, it's just hidden. Take a look [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/common-questions-after-upgrading-firefox-36 this article]. It will give you some tips on how to bring back any of the options you might not see.

How can I use bookmark script to deselct sidebar option by default?

I am trying to include a User Friendly 1-Click link on my site to automatically bookmark a page.
Using the Ultimate Bookmark script this works fine in IE, but when the bookmarking window pops up it always has the "Load this bookmark in the sidebar" option pre-checked by default.
When testing the script I missed that point & took me quite a while to figure out what had gone wrong.
The thing is that while I may be fairly Computer Savvy, it must be be assumed that the vast majority of the visitors to the site are not, so what I want is to be able to deselect the Sidebar option by default, allowing the user to select it, should they want it.
Can I use a simple snippet of code in order to facilitate this?

Those page javascripts for "Bookmark this Page" either don't work for Firefox or automatically "check" the "Load this bookmark in the Sidebar" in Firefox (and other Gecko based browsers). A Bug was filed 10 or 11 years ago to address that "Load ... bookmark ... Sidebar" issue, but it was closed with WONTFIX. The developers feel that "fixing" that feature might create a potential exploit for Firefox users.
Best thing to do is under that "button" for other browsers, is put text along the lines of "Firefox users can Bookmark this Page using the Star or with Ctrl + D."

and without messing with /boot/grub/grub.cfg ?
I need this so that new kernels show up but do not change the default boot kernel
Is there a way to do it by file name instead of position within the menuentry / submenu list?
I found some ubuntu and fedora sugestions but all by position, none by name
AND how to set the kdump kernel as the default?
Arch is putting this kernel under a submenu - would this pose problems for setting it as the default?

In /etc/default/grub you can use the name of your entry you wish to use as default
GRUB_DEFAULT='Arch Linux, with Linux core repo kernel'
You can tell grub to stop using submenus by doing:
GRUB_DISABLE_SUBMENU=y
Or you can just make a purely custom menuentry in /etc/grub.d/40_custom if you'd like:
menuentry "Other Linux" {
linux <KERNEL IMAGE HERE>
initrd <INITRD IMAGE HERE>
EDIT: /etc/grub/default -> /etc/default/grub

[SOLVED] grub2 recreate /etc/default/grub and /etc/grub.d

I made lot of changes on /etc/default/grub so i decided to remove it along with the /etc/grub.d/* to start from scratch. I thought that after reinstalling grub-bios package these files will be automatically recreated. But I wasn't right. How can I get them recreated?

Found the solution, files are actually included in grub-common package. Marking as solved.

Bugreport: Build Option Flag "Default on Export" not copied to Translation

In a multilingual environment the Build-Option Flag "Default on Export" seems to be nulled when publishing the translations.
The main application has the correct Default on Export-Flag, but the translations don't.
This leads to the result that after publishing and exporting the build option is excluded in the main application but included in the translations.

thanks for confirming.
For now i'm using another one of my "dirty" workarounds: after publishing the translations i do an Update on APEX_040000.WWV_FLOW_PATCHES and set the DEFAULT_ON_EXPORT to the value it should have.

Filling the Bucket of Select-option as DEFAULT??

Pls. clarify my doubt reg. Selection screen,
When I, F8 the my_z_report, the selection screen is coming with default values (say, A; B; C; D) in the bucket of multiple selection of the select option s_doctype.
I know, its possible, by coding in prog. it self, by filling the SELTAB explicitly as A; B; C; D after populating SIGN; OPTION; LOW; HIGH values!
but, when I see the code of my_z_prog., I did not find any such code, all over??
1) So, How the prevoius programmer filled it? bcoz, now I need add E;F;G etc. to the same!
2) Wht r the other altrnatives (other than I mentioned above) to get it done?

1) Put a where-used list of the select-options variable..and check if it getting appended.
2) If you execute the program with a transaction code..Then in the transaction code setup in SE93..You can start the report with a variant..If so..modify the report variant to add more values..

How can I make folder View Options the default in Snow Leopard?

Hi everybody! Here I am, learning to Mac!
When I do a secondary click on an open folder's background and click on +show visualization options+ (actually, +mostrar opciones de visualización+ in spanish), there's an option +set as default+ ( +ajustes por omisión+ ) which, as far as I understood, should change all the rest folder's aspect, as icon's size, font size, background image and so on... but all the rest folder's aspect keep being shown as before, just the folder where I am working changes.
My questions are: if I am wrong with the use of that "ajustes por omisión", what is it for? And how can I personalize the aspect of all folders on my mac?

It's "show view options" in English. Also obtained by typing CMD+J
Those only apply to the top-level folder. Each folder you open uses whatever you've elected to use as the defaults. Select a folder, CMD+J, set the view as you desire, click on Use as Default button. That setting will be used for all windows that you open in the future that have never been opened previously. All other windows that you opened will retain whatever view you previously selected for them.
If you want to reset everything to one view, close all open Finder windows, launch the Terminal app (/Applications/Utilities/), copy & paste this command into the window that pops up,
find ./ -name ".DS_Store" -depth -exec rm {} \;
hit the return key, quit the Terminal app, restart, open a Finder window, CMD+J, set up the view options as desired, click the Use as Defaults button, and close the view options window. Now, every Finder window you open will have this view.

Don't want the wide white area with 'options, etc.' at bottom of page, I've already got it at the top of the page.

There's a large partial menu at the bottom of the default homepage, but the "tiles" are on the NewTab page. I'm a bit confused as to what you are referring to, so please provide a screenshot of that page.

Difference between 'Camera Raw Defaults' option and Default button

I am using ACR 4.6 under CS3 in Windows.
If I open an image and click the Default button above the exposure sliders, all the tonal settings are reset to the defaults, but Clarity, Vibrance and Saturation are not altered.
If I select 'Camera Raw Defaults' from the menu the tonal settings are reset to the defaults as above, but Clarity, Vibrance and Saturation are also reset to 0.
I was under the impression that the Default button and the 'Camera Raw Defaults' option did the same thing, but apparently not. What is the difference?

The default button you are talking about only affects the sliders in the same group with the button.
